Love is not just a feeling but a choice, a decision.
Not subject to fleeting whims of emotion but a conscious focus and desire to do what must be done, to lay down one's life with someone else doing the same. It is an act of will not something as fickle as the stirrings of the heart. (not that there is anything wrong with that)
