Lots of Canadian flags about on tv. Coolness. I wish the Queen could abolish Stephen Harper. She'd be doing us a service.

I have a bit of a wedding fetish - so did watch some at 7 this morning -- mostly to see the dress - GORGEOUS! So glad it's a McQueen.

But I do not understand those bizarre sculptural hats that sit perched on foreheads in awful pastel shades. And the Queen's yellow suit - um....eek!

Was Princess Beatrice wearing the hat that looked like some sort of cookie cutter? beige and stood straight up? She had way too much eye make up on - I think both of those girls did.

Kate's dress was lovely, I thought.
I'm amused that Harry has more medals than William.
The Queen looked like she had a yellow cake on her head.
Pippa looked nice - although I don't understand why she was wearing white. Or is that just a North American thing?

Yep, hers was even worse than Eugenie's, lol. I don't even think half the "hats" at that wedding were actual hats. They were just odd head dresses pinned to people's heads lol If it doesn't cover your head, it's not a hat!

No shit! I had to do a double take when I saw Beatrice waving from the car. I was like is that??!!! For sure I thought the Pillsbury dough boy was gonna sneak up from behind her and give a little wave too. What the hell with that god awful hat?

And here I thought Aretha Franklin's hat (with that huge hideous bow) was over the top when she sang at Obama's Inauguration ceremony.

To her credit it took a lot of guts to wear that to one of the most televized events of the 20th and 21st centuries. It would be cooler if it was her making a statement on the ridiculousness of these forehead ornament thingies. Alas, I think it probably wasn't *les sigh*

Then again, the more I look at the thing, the more I like it just because it's so friggin' outrageous I mean, I personally think these things look more than a little silly, but mostly they try to make it look "elegant" or something...but this one kind of turns that on its head and makes light of the whole thing. Even if it's unintentional...lol

I heard (on TV) that the bridal party all wearing varying shades of white is traditional in British weddings. All the little attendants were wearing white as well.

I could have appreciated Princess Bea's hat as a kind of post-modern take on the bow if her makeup had been fresher. She looks at least a decade older than she is.

I wasn't crazy about Will's red coat, although I realize it's his uniform, I prefer a dark color, like Harry's.

It's not uncommon for the pageboys to wear white/off white as well.

What is a 'no no' is for anyone who's not in the bridal party to wear white/off white as were they to do so, they could possibly draw attention from the bride.

The major topic of discussion this evening? The fact that Pippa had no VPL. No mention yet of which box she would tick were she to vote in June's poll but hey, it's still early

I agree and yanno, she most certainly did not make that decision herself. There was a lot of protocol to follow and I’m sure Pippa did not have much say in what color her dress was going to be. It wouldn’t surprise me at all that that the bride’s mother was given a list of “appropriate” colors to wear.

The bride, her sister and their mother are beautiful in a very natural way to me. Dad and brother are attractive, too. They all looked anxious and stressed to me. Probably told more than once about cameras being on your face at all times!!

Pippa was great with the child attendants- they are never easy, just little kids with expectations around them to be "good." That was a pretty long ceremony for little kids to get through. One of the little girls was falling asleep in the carriage on the way back to the palace.

One thing that bothered me with the CNN coverage I watched was some misinformation about who started the Middleton's successful business- it was Carol Middleton, the Mom, not Dad. She utilized the net as a woman with growing children and ended up with a multi-million dollar business. Dad did join in as it grew, but he was not the founder. Probably smart to keep his job until they knew they could support themselves with the party supply business.

Ok that was fun. Think I like Royal weddings cuz of the pagentry, the elegance, the tradition, the history, the order, the precision......I like it.
