Oh I agree, but now it's not going to go well for the bill, so which is more important, actually having the same rights or being able to say one supports it?

Yes, we've talked about this before....What I would like to see happen is that the SSM gives the benefits of marriage, and that it can't be rescinded(sic?) by anyone with a knot in their underwear....I.E. widows/widowers benefits, health insurance, etc...It can be emotionally uplifting to be recognized in a SSM, but I guess I want more than just the ceremony....
