Thanks! I plan on moving to FL end of next month so this helps. There have also been kind people here at BFP that have linked me with other sites for jobs and house / apt. rentals so I appreciate all the information I can get. If anyone else has information on jobs in FL, please let me know. Thanks.

I hear you. Good question! You don't want to ask about benefits, pay already in an interview that's for sure. I guess it doesn't hurt to ask, "When might I expect to hear from you?" and maybe, "Are you hiring at this time?" and if they aren't, maybe you can ask, "When might you be hiring again?"

What does everybody think, Is that okay to ask? Then you have an idea and if you don't hear from them then you can pursue something else.

i know exactly how you feel ... that is usually the most awkward part of the interview for me (after "tell me about yourself" part!). sometimes i like to ask if they have a lot of applicants applying, how soon the position will start, the basics. also, if i can i usually do a little research on the company just to have a general idea in case they ask me if i know about them ... so in that case you could ask any questions you might have about them, what/how they do things, etc. i found this link to a good list of several questions you could pick from to try and remember to ask so that you don't have to draw a blank for them. i think they like being asked as it shows further interest on your part. good luck!

Also try http://www.indeed.com/

Good search engine

And if you have been RIF'd due to off shore(as I have been)

http://www.doleta.gov/tradeact/benefits.cfm#3

There has to be 3 affected people in order for them to open a case

Some offerings are 104 weeks of unemployment, 65% toward your cobra, Job search for you, bridging your salary to a lower paying job, relocation money, tuition money for two years and paying you to go to school, etc etc

Take a look there are benefits for over 50 and benefits for under 50.

Default Mac's List (Portland, OR & Beyond)

Link ~~>>> www.macslist.org

I subscribe to Mac's List for job listing opportunites with private employers or agencies at city, county or state levels. Mac's List is an excellent resource and provides a wealth of information, such as:
  • Career Change
  • Resume Tips
  • Continuing Education
  • Interviewing Tips
  • News articles pertinent to employment trends
  • Job Seekers over 50
  • Internship Opportunities (for those enrolled in school)
  • A weekly newsletter + more
Job opportunities found on the Mac's List website are not jobs you would find listed elsewhere on a public job seekers board like Craigslist or Monster or LinkedIn or InDeed. Mac's List provides the opportunity to find work in niche markets for a highly skilled workforce. In my situation, I have limited experience in my new field of interest - so it may be a while before I find work. But if you have a moderate level of experience and are seeking a career change or a new job in your field of interest, I recommend looking into announcements for job offerings on Mac's List.

I originally posted this about 7 months ago and because of growth the positions are open again.

This is for the Houston, TX area:

If you are a certified inpatient coder with 2 years experience or are interested in any of the positions please PM me.

My company is looking for 2-3 inpatient coders, you must be certified via AHIMA or AAPC. For the experience side it is a little more flexible.

We have great benefits, paid breakfast and lunch, $3500 a year toward education, $600 a year toward CEUs, paid professional memberships, life, health, vision, short term disability insurance etc.

Inpatient coders start around $65,000 based on experience and certifications.

We are also looking for facility coders for outpatient and observation as well as billers

Here is the idea behind that question...

You are interviewing the company just like they are interviewing you.

A couple good questions to ask are (In your own words):

What is the company retention rate?
What is the enviroment in the dept/company? Is it social or production minded? Is it laid back or is there an undercurrent of we need to get this done NOW!... (example... I'm very work oriented... I don't fit into a company where employees spend a great deal of time hanging at the door of my cubie wanting to talk... I don't motivate well in a office that works on Island Time and there is no presure or deadlines)

What does the interviewer like the best about the company?

You can ask questions about the charities/causes the company supports... If you have done your homework about the company, you will know what they support....

I know for me... If I'm not happy at work, then I'm not going to stay... It's best to find a company that is a good fit...

Anyone near Decatur, ILL or Springfield, Bloomington?? or that area surrounding Decatur?
I have a friend that's losing her job next week. she is looking for office work. she worked for ST. Mary's hospital for almost 11 1/2 years working in office there.
She has a Bachelors Degree in Marketing Management, would like something in that field possibly. She desperately needs to keep a job so if any one knows of anything in her area or even some other websites to check other than monster or career builder, please PM me and I will pass it on. Thanks.

Default Transgender Patient Care Navigator

Hey, guys, I can vouch for the place below if anyone has an interest. It looks like a great opportunity to get your head in the door with the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health. Who wouldn't want to work with them? They set the tone for all trans health care in the U.S.

The University of California - San Francisco (UCSF) is hiring a transgender patient care navigator. This will be initially a 1 year, 75% time position, located in San Francisco. This is an exciting opportunity to have an impact on how transgender care continues to develop at UCSF. Position requires a bachelor degree and 2 years of some kind of health related experience. Trans people and people of color are encouraged to apply. Please circulate widely and e-mail Madeline.Deutsch@ucsf.edu for the full job description.
