I like the part of being alone where you get to do what you want how you want it done and when. The rest, not so much.

My dad, as I remember him when he was around, was a Caucasian Lionel Richie. Only in the looks dept. No song stylings or big cash, but he did have a lot of ladies.

I tried horseradish for the first time last week. Where has it been all my life?!

I can't sleep without my special pillow.

1. If you have a land-line with one of those coiled phone cords I see that the cord's twisted and knotted, I will fix it. Doesn't matter if you like it the other way. I will fix it.

2. I prefer evening/night to morning/afternoon.

3. I secretly want to get rid of all of my possessions and live and work in a cooperative, sustainable community.

4. I like finding change in my apartment building's washer or dryer because it feels like someone's paying me to do chores I had to do anyway.

5. One of my girls wrote to me this weekend when she got back from choir camp and said it was fun and she had a good time, but it just wasn't the same without me there. Awww!

1. The cake for my 13th birthday was left over from my grandmother's funeral/wake the day before. I thought it was morbid at the time, but I find it hilarious now.
2. If I am trying to put something together or take it apart, I must stick my tongue out. What? It helps!
3. If I am watching TV and one of those ASPCA or Humane Society ads comes on, I must turn the channel. Can. Not. Watch.
4. I wrote painfully bad, angsty poetry when I was a teenager and I still have some of it. But you have to sleep with me before I'll bust it out and let you laugh at it.
5. I can't roller skate.


Bonus: 5 things no one would know ... about my family.
1. My oldest sister was pregnant at the same time my mom was pregnant with me.
2. My maternal grandfather was a coal miner.
3. My dad worked as a milk man when he and my mom were first married. And he drove a horse and carriage on his route.
4. My mom's family did not have indoor plumbing until they moved from Iowa to Michigan when she was 15. The previous season's Sears & Roebuck catalog was their toilet paper.
5. My father's parent's were first cousins.

I left central FL for WA 5 years ago. I hated it at first, but grew to love the PNW and miss it very much now (especially when it's hot enough to bake cookies in the car).

I think I'm developing allergies. I haven't had an allergy since I was 2.

I was pleasantly surprised at work today when my trainee was not the asshole everyone said he was.

I'm in the process of matriculating into an MSW program and have been moonlighting as a volunteer at various social service agencies, looking for a good fit for graduate service work (while working 4 days a week with really long hours on those days).


I changed my hairstyle (I straightened my curls out) and got tons of compliments today.


I'm getting new glasses soon - Can't wait until I get to pick them up!
(I chose BeBe frames - they are so flippin sexy!!!)


I've lost 24 pounds since my birthday.
(I hope to lose another 24 by Christmas/New Years)
