Of course we put it back again when we'd taken all the shots we wanted. Many of the slabs have been vandalised. I will find a picture of the broken slab a Denby Asylum when I return from having tea with Tinkerbell.
The slabs that have been 'saved' are in storage or Pathology Museums. There are a few (not many) Embalming rooms with marble slabs, but, they are rapidly being replaced with new modern ones. A shame in some ways, but, that's 'progress' for you, lol!

Are you an urbexer or are you talking about slabs still in current use? The places we see are abandoned and/or being developed, sometimes quite derelict. One of my favourites could be said to be a graffiti art installation. Wonderful place.

I've been an Embalmer for nearly 20 years - I've seen many Embalming rooms (and Mortuaries) rennovated and the marble slabs that have survived have been sent to specialist Museums. Some Embaling rooms in the smaller Funeral Directors still have the marble slabs and 'old style' Embalming rooms, but, they are now being rennovated with the stainless steel tables (as they are now called).

Ahhhh now it makes sense.

I can definitely say that not all the slabs in the country have been saved. There are a few that will either be lost in demolitions or vandalised.

Denbigh Asylum

I enjoy looking at the wide variety of photos. Thank you all for posting.

Some of my favorite photos of me tend to show a quiet stillness that I appreciate. Probably because it's a contrast to how busy life tends to be (and how hard it is to actually be still).

Yes, I'm up there at the top. It's always worth the climb.

...and then there's a softer side.
