Good Morning everyone

This morning was my weigh in, and i lost 2 more lbs, so 65 lbs gone forever!!!
It's been a very difficult week for me, and i was really scared to weigh in.
i've had some really challenging moments with binging, wanting to purge, etc..blah!
But i'm back in this and ready to rock a much BETTER week!
So, i'm quite excited for 2 lbs lost..

Yesterday, i began what is called the 28 day bootcamp workout challenge, which i found on SparkPeople.. Yesterday was a 10 minute cardio routine, which i completed.. Today, i start some toning along with 30 mins of cardio, and believe i will do that each day.. Not sure though, i need to go check in for day 2.. SparkPeople i started really participating last week, and the encouragement and support i am finding on that site is wonderful, i'm loving it so far..

i restarted the 100 pushup challenge yesterday.. Decided doing that, the squat challenge & the situp challenge was too much at once, i got overwhelmed and just quit.. So, doing one at a time along with my regular cardio, etc will be enough.. Once i complete that one, then i'll start another.

i started something new on the treadmill (when i use it), i still love walking outside wayyy more... i usually walk at the speed 2.5 right now, i do that for 5 mins and now i speed it up to 3.5 (so i'm jogging) for 1 minute, then back down to 2.5 again for another 5 minutes, then i up it again for a minute, etc etc.. i did that for about 25 minutes yesterday...

On Friday, i made my own homemade salsa (which was so pretty, colorful & delicious!) & then used my salsa to make the Salsa Chicken recipe i posted last week sometime... i would definitely make it again and again.. It made a lot so i'm going to freeze some today, otherwise i'll be eating it all week, lol.

Breakfast today:
1/2 cup cheerios
1/2 cup grapes
1/2 cup skim milk
1 yogurt, blueberry

Morning snack:
1 medium banana

Lunch:
Salsa chicken with an ancient grain wrap, YUM!
1/2 cup watermelon for dessert

Salsa chicken?? Sylvie could you share the recipe? I don't eat chicken much and other than baking it (extra crispy lol) or gumbo I really don't know how to cook it. I had taken some frozen chicken out to cook tonight and am lost. So you just add salsa after it's done? We all love the salsa and I have tons of it home made from the summer garden.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Dee!
Of course i will - i'm a huge salsa fan as well, hehe..
i am a huge fan of chicken, though.. It's all i eat (and fish too).. i don't much eat other meats.. i found this recipe on SparkPeople.net..
i made my own Salsa like i said, and i made a few changes to the recipe..
i added lotsa fresh mushrooms, cuz i love them.. i lessened the taco seasoning, (cuz i watch my sodium like a hawk).. & there was so much flavor with my salsa etc anyway...And of course making my own salsa cut back on some sodium as well..
Also, i didnt add the water, because there was enough juice from the tomatoes in the salsa and the diced tomatoes..Depends on how much vegetables you use etc, i gather..

Cajun_Dee Chicken is easy and fun. The big thing is to get the boneless skinless version. Tons of protein not much fat.

I make chicken parm by taking about 4 oz (which is not a complete breast BTW) dipping it in egg white and bread crumbs and a little parmesan. I heat up a cast iron fry pan with about a teaspoon of olive oil in it and drop it in there. I don't cook it over the stove, I put the whole mess in the oven at 350 for about 6 minutes per side. Crunchy exterior, minimal damage. Then I heat up some diced tomatoes add some basil and garlic and cook up some whole wheat spaghetti. The whole thing with a salad is about 400 calories for dinner.

Or I also throw it on the grill. About 6 minutes per side. I use that Cajunland lemon pepper seasoning on it.

Or cut it into about 1 inch cubes and saute it in a little olive oil with some salsa and put it in a tortilla. Throw some lettuce on that and a little more salsa and you've got tacos for about 350 calories.

If you've been on the fence about soda read this article:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...1121_DNL_art_1

This includes regular soda and diet. You really should read it and do additional research if that's what it takes.

I buy this wild caught tuna from amazon called Sustainable Planet. It's delicious. One of the biggest challenges for me staying healthy is my love of spicy food and lots of flavors. I'm also super busy and often have to make meals ahead of time. I'm addicted to this snack/meal.

I use my mini food processor, chop pickled jalapenos, sometimes celery too. Then a can of tuna and a very small amount of mayo. You don't need much. I whip it up and serve on organic whole wheat pita or a whole grain cracker. I love putting it in a pita the stuffing the rest with fresh tomato and or arugula.

Then my next fast, filling snack is any kind of hummus. You can buy some or use the countless easy recipes online. I even eat this in the morning for breakfast, lots of hummus and a huge handful of arugula all smashed into whole wheat bread or pita. This also helps me get even more raw healthy greens throughout my day.

opps

so really I keep lots of pita in the freezer and take out what I need. Then I have tubs or tuna, hummus, goat cheese, tomato sauce, grilled veggies and sometimes chicken. I can whip something up pretty fast these days, all natural, organic and can still satisfy my cravings. I'm a huge foodie!

I used to drink a lot of soda when I was younger, but I moved to water probably 20 years ago and rarely touch the stuff any more. I just refuse to be a pawn to the corporations that manufacture the stuff.

Good morning & happy Monday all you healthy folks! It's such incredible motivation to come in here and see the continued success! Y'all keep up the amazing work!!!

I've been doing pretty good keeping my points under control. I'm trying to drink as much water as I can, and then alternating to iced tea with meals. I still do drink the occassional soda maybe twice a week.

My downfall has always been getting my body going. Seriously, as much as I work and/or play, I feel like there is never enough time in the day to devote to exercise. But, I know that I can and WILL make the time... even if it's 30 minutes a day to do a video or take a walk.

Meals planned for the day...

Breakfast:
Raisin bran cereal with 2% milk
a banana

Lunch:
leftover chicken & veggie stir fry over steamed rice

Dinner:
peanut butter & jelly sandwich on a deli thin
an apple

Snack:
yogurt
string cheese and/or 100 calorie pack of almonds

Y'all have a great day!!

Syr cut that out of my diet the moment I got here, However if I have been good and bat my eyes I can have a coke now and then. Just no diet anything or aspartame in general.

I NEED to drink more water, I just don't like it. I used to try to say that it was the main ingredient in coffee, but that didn't fly

Thank you Ma'am

Will make this for Monday dinner, I am Venisoned out and don't eat much other meat, but I know I need protein. So if I drown the chicken in yummy stuff I can choke it down. We are mushroom lovers here too so I always have em on hand, and never would have thought about them, sounds great!

I was SHOCKED at how much sodium is in those seasoning packets, I used to use one to make pasta salad until I read it. Now I just make my own, and its better

Also can veggies are chock full of sodium, frozen has literally no sodium.

We have lots of frozen veggies in the fridge so they will get tossed in too. I try to sneak them in when I can.

Thanks Diavolo I love cooking anything in cast iron, and with Cajun Spice, you can't go wrong .

Holy moses I lost another pound, how I will never know cause ive been eating more food than useal,I will take it and b glad it went gone. The next fue days will be some what of a trial with holliday cooking,im still cooking the bird but changing some of the ways I fix the rest of the meal. For the veggie dish im steaming some bag veggies,we r going to have home made dressing w/giblet gravy but if u use the mix in the small bags from the grosery store there isnt any oil or fats in it plus the claories are low along with the carbs..5 carbs.Im makeing cranberry sause on my own with splenda wich will cut the sugars from it,I am bakeing an apple pie but again splenda insted of sugars in it..to add flavore in roasting some corse choped pecans to bring out the flavor in them then adding them to the pie..Im geting a store bought crust but im looking for one with the least carbs and calories.Im doing my best to make this meal as healthy as I can with out loseing the idea of a holliday meal.I figure up the carbs and calories from a normal t-day meal wich is in the thousands of carbs and calories fort he total meal not the individual serveings,I fugure I can cut that by 3/4 of what it was...anything that needs butter will have to do with molly mcbutter insted of the real thing.

You're very welcome Dee..
i hear you about the sodium, actually i am off all processed foods, except a few very select things.. Now when i eat something that has salt in it, can i ever taste it.. *zing*

i always add whatever veggies as i go, i tend to make recipes my own lol - in all honesty, i think i would like the salsa chicken minus the taco seasoning even.. and using spices of my own..

Anyway, happy cooking ! Hope you like

Oy... Sodapop!

For years and years, i drank Pepsi, and then switched to Diet Pepsi.. (thinking it was healthier, lol...) It was all i drank, with the occasional sugary juices..

Back in April, i decided on a whim, i was ready to quit, for the sake of my health & i did.. i haven't touched it since.. i had headaches for a few weeks, and cravings that made me almost crazy, but i stayed strong and finally.. After i got out of that 3 week period, i started feeling better.. Not just better, but literally like my whole body smiled from head to toe, lol..

i don't seriously crave it anymore.. i do have days where if someone else is drinking it, that i wish i could too, THEN i crave it, but it passes fast for me..

So glad i got off of it.. i wasn't strong like some of you who can manage to have one or two here and there.. i had to just downright quit it, altogether. One sip makes me want it bad again..

Thank you! I didn't realize that is the same chicken salsa recipe I saw before and wanted to make, I am so glad you posted it today.

It's in the Magnalite pot now (I am so thankful I was reunited with it) and smelling the whole house up. I was running behind time so I boiled the chicken first then threw it in with all the rest of the stuff.

I am going to do some Basmati rice so Syr doesn't starve to death but I am still thinking it's pretty darn low in calories.

Congrats on all of your achievements, you are inspiring for sure.
