Staff report Sporting News
National League MVP Ryan Braun has tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug and could face a 50-game suspension next season, according to ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.” Braun, who hit .332 with 33 homers for Milwaukee in 2011, is disputing the result, which revealed he had elevated levels of testosterone in his body, according to the report. ![]() MLB is trying to confirm the test through the World Anti-Doping Agency in Montreal, according to the report. "There are highly unusual circumstances surrounding this case which will support Ryan's complete innocence and demonstrate there was absolutely no intentional violation of the program,” a Braun spokesman said in a press release. “While Ryan has impeccable character and no previous history, unfortunately, because of the process we have to maintain confidentiality and are not able to discuss it any further, but we are confident he will ultimately be exonerated." Braun said he will fight the accusation. He called the positive test "B.S.," according to USA Today.
