I was watching True Blood and noticed that Alcide's father was drinking Schlitz. I am sure the point is that he is drinking an inexpensive brew. Honest go god, if you are going cheap, you could do worse. It tastes like beer for one thing, unlike Miller and Corona. Better than PBR and Bud. Eww, Bud. Anyway, just noticed that.

What was your first beer that wasn't swill?
Mine was Moosehead. I drank it for several years. It is fine. I would drink one now if offered one. I wouldn't go out and buy it. But it's not bad. Certainly better than the standard lagers out there. |

I would have to say my first beer that wasn't swill :-) was "Fosters". It was only available in a oil can as we called it. We thought we were cool at parties hanging out with this huge can of beer. It was also the first 6 point beer I ever had. Aw, the memories.

My first swill free beer was a Molson Golden.
A friend of mine worked at a local grocery here and gave me a six pack. I drank it on the beach.

As an affected college student, I went through a Lowenbrau phase. Now I'm just a beer fag. Give me a Rolling Rock, Corona, maybe a Miller High Life (glass bottles only please, on all of them). I guess I'm really much more of a wine or tequila guy.

I don't think I've tried that Blue Moon. I don't like wits, so probably I haven't. But I looked it up, and some Beer Advocate folks say it's the best Blue Moon (and therefore Coors) has to offer. I am surprised. It's hard to make a wit that can compare to a lot of other styles. By nature they're not that flavorful. Anyway, I thought that was interesting.
It sure sounds like a good drink for a summer day in Texas. |

I am going to try to get to Lagunitas Brewing Co's taproom this weekend. It's in Petaluma, Ca. They have a couple of Imperial Stouts on tap right now. Funny that their tasters are more expensive than Russian River's. *frown*
