Just make it simple and get a Honda or Toyota. Any year. Any model (ok except the del Sol), and you are good to go. Easy peasy.

great advice here and great thread for anyone!
If you' like the look of the PTC , why not look at a small SUV type vehicle.. how about say the Kia Soul or Sportage or Ford Edge or something of sort. |

I feel I have to stand up for Ella Blue here.
I like my Neon. There. I said it. She's pretty and has only given me a real scare once and that's because of something that I didn't do that I should have. She's also gotten me from FL to WA and down to TX. I ♥ my car. Carry on! P.S.~An ex of mine got a PTC and I hated it, for a variety of reasons. |

Del sol is what I have hard to find parts for because they quit making them in '96 or '97 great little car though. Found a few places that carry aftermarket parts. Is there something else I should know lol?

You can check out the mpg for whatever car your looking at to see if it gets good miles per gallon. I feel safer in my Ford full size pick-up. I've seen aftermath pictures of head on collisions between a Porsche and a full-size Chevy pick-up. The truck had a large dent in the bumper and the Porsche was unrecognizable as something that was once a car. |

If you live where you usually get alot of snow, than I would definiately buy an AWD(all wheel drive). A couple of years ago, our whole town was shut down for nearly a week, and even the plows were getting stuck. But my neighbor's little AWD Subaru hatchback plowed through nearly two feet of snow all the way to town and back, and helped alot of people. It was awesome!

I have read in the past that it is not reliable. That is the first and only time I have heard that about a Honda. Have you found yours to be as reliable as most other Hondas? -------------- I know that 10 years after the last model year of a car BMW no longer has to make parts for it. I don't know if this is true of all makes, though. Perhaps that is why you have a hard time finding parts? How many miles do you have on it?

Ever since I lived in Washington, I've wanted a Subaru Outback. I like that they're jacked up a little bit and have lots 'o room in the back. I may look into getting one one day.

My dad is a mechanic and all around brilliant guy. We have had two subaru's and both were impossible to kill. Gotta admit that I love the way subaru has been gay-friendly. I will put them high on my list when I go car hunting again

I bought a Hyundai this year, but it had been over ten years since I'd had a car. The one before that was a Subaru Outback that I sold in December 2001. I had it when N and I had a house in upstate New York and it got us through some rough winters on farm roads, in the Catskills—we felt safe and grounded.

Baby is now home with me! I finally was able to trade the truck in, with some cash and a set of new tires for our jeep, for the PT Cruiser! I did good with the deal and love love love my new car. chrissy intervened (by my request) to help work with the dealer, when the dealer started yelling at me over the phone. In his defense, the man was not feeling good, was home sick, and had called me and was trying to explain some facts to me. I wasnt hearing it. So he was raising his voice in frustration. Still...not a thing to do to ME. Not with chrissy next to me...he grabbed the phone, got a nod from me, and jumped into the conversation. The dealer backed down immediately. I HATE that women dont get treated in the same way as men do. Sucks. Truly does. However, bottom line, the car is in my driveway, I am happy and chrissy gets to be the hero. Paid a few bills with the money I got, and gonna fill up the tank on my way to work today. And not $150 worth of gas! Those days are over! It was wonderful to drive the PT from the dealer to home and not see the gas go significantly down! Lovely truck. Not a thing wrong with it. LOVED it and will miss it but the gas was killing me. Now we can actually tour New England! That was one of my goals in getting a new car. I wanted chrissy to see the beautiful land and visit some friends I made up in NH and Mass.

First honda I've owned I have driven it a few thousands mile myself already . Has over 170,000 on the odometer most I've done to the engine is put valve cover gaskets and plugs in ,Changed the oil twice , using synthetic runs smoother. That little car has some get up and go. Still trying to find some body parts for it though --the girl that had it hit a deer. Think from what I understand it was the hard top that leaked on the older models. They are all hard top convertibles.
