Today in the thrift store, a woman came up and asked me if this large glass bowl on a iron stand would look good with big decorative balls in it..

I said, oh yes.. that would look wonderful.. What colors are you thinking of using..

Red, Yellow, Blue with squigly designs.. She said..

Oh.. yes, that would go really well with the color of the rusted iron..

The part that made me smile?

The entire conversation entailed of my ratio of 2 english words, to one spanish word (I understand more than I speak)

and her ratio of two spanish words, to one english word... (I assume she understood more than she spoke)

It made me smile for two reasons:

1. Home decorating knows no barriers...

2. It reminded me of when I was a little girl and my best friend was a local Turkish girl... I spoke no Turkish and She spoke no English... We bonded over dolls and a record she had of dogs barking *Happy Birthday*
