I guess since the whole "having the gun at the ready", is so far outside of my experience, I sometimes wonder if people are just pulling our legs and I am the only one who doesn't know this.

Yep, I'm another person that has a gun in the nightstand. Well in the top drawer of D's nightstand.

On my nightstand:
a lamp
a coaster
ice water... every night before bed
Johnson's nighttime lotion
hair ties
jewelry that I wear every day
my glasses
and my phone... it is my alarm clock
