Woman in Gold
Fantastic. Absolutely well-done and I have such an appreciation for Helen Mirren. She's phenomenal. This movie was so, so, so good. Based on a true story, it will make you laugh and cry. Possibly simultaneously. |

After trying to watch three OTHER movies on Netflix...none kept my interest... I found...
3 Days to Kill with Kevin Costner. I don't find him to be a dazzlingly good actor, but he has a certain something that makes him fun to watch. The movie was good.

Last night I watched:
Lee Daniels' The Butler After leaving the South as a young man and finding employment at an elite hotel in Washington, D.C., Cecil Gaines (Forest Whitaker) gets the opportunity of a lifetime when he is hired as a butler at the White House. Over the course of three decades, Cecil has a front-row seat to history and the inner workings of the Oval Office. However, his commitment to his "First Family" leads to tension at home, alienating his wife (Oprah Winfrey) and causing conflict with his anti-establishment son. I have not seen such a poignant movie in quite some time. I tend to watch movies that make you think (from time to time) - especially about things that are relevant to our present and/or past. This one did exactly that. If you have not seen it, you should. |

I am not sure that I mentioned that I watched this (a few days ago)
Another movie that makes you think (based on a true story) A definite must see. Fruitvale Station Though he once spent time in San Quentin, 22-year-old black man Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan) is now trying hard to live a clean life and support his girlfriend (Melonie Diaz) and young daughter (Ariana Neal). Flashbacks reveal the last day in Oscar's life, in which he accompanied his family and friends to San Francisco to watch fireworks on New Year's Eve, and, on the way back home, became swept up in an altercation with police that ended in tragedy. Based on a true story. |

There's a Harry Potter marathon on ABC Family. I'm watching Prisoner of Azkaban now while I clean and organize.

Olympian and war hero Louis Zamperini survived in a raft for 47 days after a near-fatal plane crash in WWII, only to be caught by the Japanese Navy and sent to a prisoner-of-war camp.
Based on a true story. ---------------- Was interesting. I liked the follow up story of his trip to Japan after the war to meet with all but one of his captors. |

I saw it! It was visually impactful. Very exciting and it gives us an idea of what a major catastrophe could look like in such a populated area. Absolutely stunning.
There were a couple of cheesy lines but all in all, it was very good. AND the whole theatre cracked up when one thing happened that would normally not create laughter but it was warranted. I won't spill the beans but I will say that moment was very satisfying. Plus, I love the remake of California Dreaming. It's kind of creepy. |

The Good Lie
"A group of Sudanese refugees given the chance to resettle in America, arrive in Kansas City, Missouri, where their encounter with an employment agency counselor forever changes all of their lives". Stars: Reese Witherspoon, Arnold Oceng, Ger Duany http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2652092/ It was difficult to believe that the Lost Boys and Girls of the Sudan literally walked 1,000 miles to find some sort of safety, and for the most part, they were children. Many of the actors were Sudanese. It was really good and a tearjerker for most of the movie. |

The Judge - Robert Duvall, Robert Downey Jr. - I enjoyed it, very emotional. A few cheesy spots, but well acted.

I watched this movie earlier today:
It was okay. It's a B class movie and the acting is not stellar. I did enjoy the revenge aspect of it though and it was interesting having a hearing impaired heroine. It was annoying, however, that people kept referring to her as mute and she wasn't. I'm currently listening to the SpongeBob movie. Since I didn't actually watch all of it, I can't say much but it was fun to have in the background. |

I saw this tonight. It officially opens tomorrow but my theatre had a couple of evening showings tonight so I jumped at it. Good call!
I like Melissa McCarthy anyway but I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The lady behind me and to the right also seemed to enjoy it according to her snorts and cackles. ![]() Jason Statham was funnier than I've seen him before. He still kicked a little bit of ass but was more funny than kickass. It was a nice change. If you go see it, stay through the WHOLE thing, until all of the credits have run. |
