Advanced Style examines the lives of seven unique New Yorkers whose eclectic personal style and vital spirit have guided their approach to aging. These women were amazing, and I had been wanting to see this documentary for some time! It was well worth the wait IMHO

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl
Quirky high school awkwardness turns subtlety and smoothly serious. This movie was a real treat. Directing was spot on. |

Casino was on TV last night....
I don't know what it is about that movie, but if it's on, I'm watching it! Funny thing about it, it's such a long movie that I often forget entire parts and what happens next. It's kind of cool when there's that much detail to a film that you can watch it numerous times and still see something new...

I saw Magic Mike and Terminator: Genysis today.
Okay, here's my beef with MM XXL. I never saw the original but appreciate a little tilt in the sexual objectification game. I thought this would be a fun movie but even when the guys are the ones on display, women are still being put into compromising situations. Just because someone goes to a strip show does not mean they automatically want someone's crotch ground into their face. Seriously. I'm not talking in the general direction of someone's face. I'm talking a couple inches away to actually being ground on. Sometimes with hair pulling and head yanking. I need to know you a little better than that for that shit to happen. I was really wound up about it when I left the theatre but I've calmed down now. Yes, this is me calm. ![]() There was, however, a really nicely constructed swing. ![]() Terminator, however, did not disappoint. It was FANTASTIC. Now, for the sake of transparency, I've been a Terminator girl since day one. Love the series. They did a remarkable job blending younger/older Arnie battling together and the stunts are stupid crazy good. |

I watched 2 movies today.
This was okay. I never read the book series so I'm not too upset over it but there was a lot left to be desired. I liked the dragons, even though they were the bad guys and gals in the movie. This movie surprised me. I didn't expect much and it was a freebie for me so it was an absolute pleasure that I really enjoyed it. I love me some Eve and all of the main female roles were strong. Good acting. Situations I could relate to. A win win. |

![]() I like to be entertained. That's just what this delivers. Good story. You can't help but root for her to figure it out. Amy Schumer is just freakin' funny. Period. Plus, I like being in during the genesis of what promises to be a long, successful career for her. And, I have a fondness for Bill Hader, leftover from his brilliant characterizations on SNL. It's like a summer read. Fun. Entertaining. Time worthy. |

Amy
The ultimate eulogy to a talented young woman who had her demons stoked by those closest to her. Not an original story. Unfortunately. I'd recommend seeing it only if you are/were a die-hard fan of Amy Winehouse. Otherwise, wait for on-demand or Netflix and then only a bargain matinee because it's more like an E True Hollywood Story than a rich documentary. But, then again, she wasn't around long, but she did leave a mark. |

Before We Go (2014) Stars: Chris Evans, Alice Eve,
A young woman in New York City races to catch the 1:30 Train to Boston and after missing it connects with a good samaritan ![]() I really liked this movie! For the most part it's just the two title characters set against the backdrop of New York City. Throughout the movie we learned what each characters life has entailed and not in a whinny sort of way either! If you've ever had unanswered questions from a failed relationship, you might enjoy this movie ![]() |

If you're a fan of the film The Long Good Friday you may enjoy this video on the making of it.
The Long Good Friday is a classic British gangster film. It stars Bob Hoskins, Helen Mirren, with Pierce Brosnan in his first role (a small role, but a good one). The film's about a successful British gangster whose organization is imploding on Good Friday just as he's trying to forge a bond with an American gangster. It's very good. The storyline was complex at times with some twists—a good film and worth watching. |

It had a lot of gratuitous violence and stoner humor but I still liked it. You can't help but like the poor guy. |
