When the good and careful renovation contractors who've picked up your moldy floor after a destructive hurricane discover that the main beams, (sills), of your house have extensive rot which will be very expensive to fix, then they notice a problem with the foundation. Well, it's supposed to be a foundation, and the previous contractor who put it in charged you full price for a foundation, but it doesn't hold anything up, and it's not built right, either. The open floor has revealed that they never filled the block, which has been deliberately laid in the wrong place. They built a false wall across the front of your house that looked exactly like a foundation so that they didn't have to do any hard work. It's scenery masquerading as a foundation, and will need to be rebuilt with money that's supposed to raise the house.

Then the bonded, licensed, careful house builder tells you that raising the house to get a basement, which is the Holy Grail you've been working into your plans for several years, will cost three times the amount of funds FEMA will provide for raising the house, and will take three times longer than you thought, (as if you could afford it anyway). Then, when you come home from a long dentist appointment you discover that someone has slashed your tire.

You know that you're in Hell when the most pleasant part of your day was getting four cavities filled. At least my teeth look nice.

I sat by my Mother's bedside for over a week while she died...the blessing of being there for her, is sometimes outweighed by the hell of remembering every breath she took, and the agony of losing her that way.

I know hell.. You know you are in hell when you are lost and searching for a way home. So you wait and wait for a bus, a train, a plane, anyway to get you out and back home. But, you know you do not really have a home, or where it is, so you don't know where you're going. But you still have to wait to go somewhere, anywhere, while you are having panic attacks, for someone, or something, to get you out, because you do not have a car, job, money, or phone, plus, you do not know anyone, nor does anyone ask you if you need help. But you have to keep searching for a way out, because you have kids/furkids you love, who love you, who depend on you to live, and they looked at you and cried, because they were hungry and homeless also, and could get trapped, taken to a shelter by strangers, and even killed. Yes, I've been there.
