Lips...thank you for a lovely breakfast I do love some traditional bagels and cream cheese. I'm going to set out some scrambled eggs (with just a bit of sauteed minced onion) and cheddar cheese in them, some nice slices of fried breakfast ham....and some crispy hashbrowns, of course

More coffee is on...and for Incubus and others that might prefer that too of course!

I'm dancing around the kitchen this morning (thanks Freyja!)...and trying not to get my hopes up. Seems that the realtor had a bomb of an open house while I was gone (lovely day, no people)...but then showed the house on Monday to a young couple. They came back Tuesday with his mother (a.k.a. "the downpayment") and stayed an hour. Seems they really liked the place. Realtor says they are off to the bank to see what they can get approved for a mortgage...and hopes to have an offer from them soon. With all the back and forth, I don't want to get my hopes up (after 4 months of this...ugh)...but they didn't care about the street...and that's been everyone else's main objection. Crossing fingers and

Hugs to everyone...and hope you have a great day!

baby....hope all goes well at work today

We're in a tiny village outside of Syracuse and on a two-lane road...unfortunately we're also the only road between the city of Syracuse and a growing bedroom community of upscale houses...so about 8,000 cars a day go past my front door in two lanes. They go slow...just 35 mph or less, but it's a lot of traffic. People worry about being able to get out of the driveway (although I've rarely had a problem in 9 years...but you can't convince prospective buyers of that!)

And thanks for asking about the Rooster Gail He feels totally normal and well again...and thanks to the lovely people on this site who gave me so many tips on helping him get the pills down, he no longer has any trouble swallowing them. The doctor's office called today with the test results and there's no doubt at all that it's positive for Lyme disease. Ugh. They do say that it appears we caught it early though, and the antibiotics should clear it up. He has to go back for a checkup once the antibiotics are gone to be sure, but it all looks good so far.

Miami was fun (although it's always fun to be with Scoote)...the water was so incredibly warm at the beach...and we spent the day at Jungle Island and got to be up close with beautiful parrots and the cutest little squirrel monkeys The only part that surprised me was how much garbage got dropped on the beach...truly disgusting. I guess folks there take the beach for granted...and there were juice boxes and beer cans and plain ol' trash all over the shoreline. Luckily they had people out picking it up in the morning, but I wonder how much washes out to sea first...and am surprised that so many people are too lazy to walk 15 or 20 feet to the many trash cans provided. It's a shame to ruin such a gorgeous beach!

Driving around was fun...so many beautiful, funky buildings...and a beautiful scene everywhere you looked. Very nice!

Well I'm glad to hear that your son is feeling better that's good that they the doctors caught it early that wasn't the case with me. As for the house I wish you the best of luck. for me I'm just going to rent in August and move in September, possibly Florida but I'm leaning toward California and a gay community at that!! I wouldn't worry about the road, I live in the city well suburbs of NJ and there's traffic and people get out they just have to watch that' all. Wow took a benadryl this morning and I still feel groggy!! Had lunch and coffee to try to get rid of that groggy feeling but can't. Anyway, I hope you sell that will encourage me to sell as well.

Good evening Kitcheneers and thank-you so much for all the tea I hope everyone has had a wonderful day with few stresses and strains.

Since it's evening I'd like to offer whoever would like one a drink. *sets out a crate of Bud and San Miguel along with a couple of bottles of Prosecco and a bottle of Patron with Maldon salt and several limes* ...You'll have to bring your own nibbles

My girl is still teaching; it's her long day when she pulls a 12hr day of teaching, marking and generally being very teacher-y until she gets home when she can be my li'l girl again.

Ooops! I'll never get the hang of different time zones

Why are you lonely at home lipstixgal? Do you live alone or are you waiting on someone getting home? Tell me more about your pooches. Names, ages, sexes...you know the pet info drill

6pm is 'cocktail hour' in my house so I'll just leave the drinkies here so y'all can help yourselves when you get in from work, college or whatever else you do in the day because I'll be curled up in bed by that time.

It's sure a long day for Mrs.Incubus but I'm happy to have the time just to footle around and be 'in my own head' with no disturbances. After doing all the chores that needed doing I've been nekkid in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed reading "The Whole Day Through" by Patrick Gale

Now it's waaaay past cocktail hour and I've had a solitary beer but have a good bottle of unoaked chardonnay chilling ready for Mrs.Incubus' arrival home.

Hi Lips

I'm sure Scoote would be willing to bring some pizza home...
As for me, I've been craving some good old fashioned chicken fricasse...with mashed potatoes....homemade biscuits....mmmmmm.....maybe some new peas still sweet from the garden too. Oh...and salad...trying to be better about the salad

Dessert might have to be a baked custard tart...and brownies for Scoote cuz she needs her

Almost done with the work day, and I've even been productive...yay me!

Here you go...chicken fricasse...

Ingredients:
2 pounds chicken pieces (I usually like to use boneless, skinless breasts)
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
3/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons all purpose flour
1-1/3 cup water
2/3 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons butter
2/3 onion, chopped
1 1/3 cup fresh small mushrooms
1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
3/4 cup half and half

Directions:

Wash and dry the chicken pieces. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, nutmeg and paprika. Brown the chicken in hot oil over medium-high heat in a deep heavy pan (like a Dutch oven). Remove the chicken when well browned. Reduce heat to medium, add flour, and cook the flour until lightly browned, stirring constantly. Whisk in water and wine until smooth.

Return the chicken to the Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to a low simmer. Cook 50 minutes.

Remove chicken, keeping it warm, and reserve the broth (which can be strained to get out any pieces).

Melt butter in Dutch oven, over medium high heat, add onion, cook until lightly browned. Add mushrooms, sage and parsley. Add broth, and chicken. Cook over medium heat, stirring until thoroughly heated.

Most people like this over rice...but personally I make homemade mashed potatoes...smoooosh a deep well in the middle, and fill it with the fricasse. Mmmmm.....comfort food.

Mmmmm.....comfort food.
wow you are very talented indeed, scoote is lucky to have such a wonderful woman by hys side!! Thanks for the recipe, will try it this weekend for the 4th of JULY

Good morning everyone...and thank you for breakfast Lips

I'm getting a slow start this morning...definitely a different kind of day when the son is home for summer vacation.

I've still got to prep for a big conference call in a couple hours, so I'll be back and forth. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

and to you baby....even though you're maybe still
