Lighting a candle for my friend in Florida. She has had Covid since August 7th been in and out of the hospital on oxygen back to hospital and is back home but still sick and weak. Guess maybe you call it long haul not sure.

Lighting a candle and saying a pray for my Daddy. Took him to ER last night and they kept him and of course nobody can stay with him and he doesn't understand why. He doesn't even understand why he is there. Hope he don't think we don't love him.

Former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, is moving to hospice care. Carter is 98 years old and served as president from 1977 to 1981.

The Carter Center issued this statement:

"After a series of short hospital stays, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter today decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family and receive hospice care instead of additional medical intervention. He has the full support of his family and his medical team. The Carter family asks for privacy during this time and is grateful for the concern shown by his many admirers."

On this our celebration of International Womens Day let us not forget all the women who can't join us to help us enjoy this day,. I remember one in particular and light a candle for each one in Montreal Canada sitting in their classroom on July 5/12 and being over thrown by a screaming male "you are all feminists" and shooting his automatic weapon and mowing down 27 innocent students, alll woman. Fourteen of these women died and thirteen were all severly wounded. SO on our day of celebration I would like to add these women among to thousands of others who have been persecuted for simply being women.

Just short of casting spells by candlelight, what’s been on my mind is how fucking lucky our country is by not being bombed or submitted to harrowing, life threatening horrors that people in other countries are subjected to and enduring.

One day, our proverbial enemies will come for our country and upend our lives, starve us to death or just outright kill us because they can.

I have a good friend that I have known for about 20 years. She is kind, generous, helpful and an all-around good person. She also has some mental health issues and on occasion has threatened and/or tried to unalive herself. She is currently living on the remnants of an inheritance, and she has put all of her close friends on warning that when the money runs out, she will unalive herself. She has a plan and the means. None of us, as far as I know, knows exactly how much money she has left. She doesn't live lavishly, but she doesn't live like a pauper either. She lives in a remote area about 4 hours away from my house, and I'm not even exactly sure where, although I know the town.

Anyway, I usually have to leave a message if I want to get in touch with her. She doesn't immediately answer her phone and she doesn't return texts right away. But she always gets back in touch with me within a day or sooner. I haven't heard from her in a week. I have texted her three times and called her twice. Her phone is going straight to voice mail. I called a mutual friend, and she hasn't heard from her either but she is going to ask around.

I'm lighting a candle for my friend. I hope she's still here on this earth with us, but if not, I hope things turned out for her the way she wanted. I also hope she's not holed up somewhere alone with her thoughts and in despair.

It’s just so scary right now.

Nobody seems to care.

I’m lighting candles for all that is wrong in the world with faith and hope that we will all unite against the atrocities that are committed every second of every day and night. :praying: :candle: :candle: :candle:

Thank you, everyone, for your support. I just wanted to let you know that my friend is totally fine. It was just a misunderstanding - she bought a new phone and disconnected her old one before updating the new one for about a week. Whew! She had no idea how much she scared everybody. I am so relieved. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and words and understanding. Lighting a candle of gratitude tonight.

Yesterday, after last week’s round of medical tests in the nuclear medicine and radiology departments at my chosen hospital, the pharmacy filled two medicines my cardiologist ordered for me. One medicine helps with the severe chest pressure caused by my heart’s electrical issues in the upper chamber of my heart. The other medicine will supposedly keep me from having a stroke during the times that my hearts’ upper chamber is fielding serious electrical troubles: this medicine, Eliquis 5 mg tablet — 90 day supply, was billed against my Medicare policy for $2,184.49. I nearly had a ‘stroke’ when I saw the cost of that life saving medication. (w)(w)(w)

Anyway, I’m here to light a few candles for myself and others who are navigating medical issues. May we all remain in the best of health possible. May our bank accounts not suffer such economic travesties. May our health care systems across our nation not succumb to the plundering of our best chance of survival during super serious assaults on our (…).

The past few weeks I’ve been lighting candles for those who are victims of genocidal actions and for those whose lives are being upended by terrorizing implementation of cruel immigration policies and sent to horrible prisons or countries they have never been to and for people who are losing their healthcare and for people who face horrible financial troubles in our perilous times. I’m lifting us up in supportive thoughts as we struggle to make life work. :candle: :praying: :vigil:
