I don't like destructive behaviors or red flags or physical and mental abuse...
I also don't like getting piss-poor edits from an anal think-she-knows-it-all coworker that completely messes up the formatting to a very difficult project that took COUNTLESS hours to create. I'd love to say back to her about her track changes "It AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN"... I'm the Policy Expert and Consultant... your requested, insisted upon edits obviously show your lack of knowledge...I don't give a rat's azz if your mother did beat you up over your grammatical use and punctuations... this is NOT a document that needs to be grammatically correct, it uses Acronyms for a reason...it's a "snap shot" billing matrix with billing codes... not a dang 200 page legal brief document. :hamactor: :hamactor: :readfineprint:

today i am pissed off about...
cismen, even men in supposedly progressive muslim communities, thinking they are entitled to opinions about how muslim women dress and whether our dress is islamic/modest/permissible/okay. and generally taking up a LOT of space in conversations about dress. with no apparent awareness of how fucked up and misogynist their entitlement is.
and then needing to point out that "gender apartheid hurts men too." NO FUCKING SHIT. but men have more institutional power and ability to confront other men about that than women do. so, no, i'm not going to devote all my limited energy to addressing/fixing how much it hurts your entitled ass.
an older white cismale photographer turning frida kahlo into softcore porn by piecing together images of her body with nude images of other white women and women of color. these images (one in particular) have been passed all over facebook, tumblr, and elsewhere. i have seen people point out, rarely, that they are photoshopped. i have seen them lauded as revolutionary and artistic. i have not seen anybody point out how FUCKED UP THIS SHIT IS.
I AM SO FUCKING MAD ABOUT THIS SHIT.
what is fucking revolutionary and artistic about an old white dude appropriating and exploiting the bodies of women of color? old white men have been cutting apart the bodies of women of color for centuries. old white men have been objectifying, exploiting, and eroticizing the bodies of women of color for centuries. now just cause some dude does it in the name of art that makes it okay? NO. FUCKING. WAY.
i have not been this angry in awhile. i don't understand why i'm apparently the only one getting pissed off about this. or why people around me think it's unreasonable that this makes me angry. i am seriously vibrating with rage right now.

Ugh...why do I allow myself to get sucked into conversations with emotionally stunted, drama-laden, immature, negative, toxic, a-holes? I swear, sometimes people make me want to shake them and yell "This behavior may have been tolerable when you were two...but please, do the world a favor and GROW THE F**K UP!" It amazes me when people continue to repeat the same behavior, refuse to change,or evolve, or grow and yet constantly complain, play the victim card, and pass the blame! Here's a tip...if EVERYONE you meet has a problem with you, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what (or who) the problem is!

after two hours on the phone with HR and the retirement customer service unit...and countless hours pouring over my HR paperwork and "welcome packets"...
I just learned that I don't have a 401k like I've thought I've had all along.... instead it's a 401A... when I heard that and learned that I can't have a hardship withdrawal or loan and I can't touch it at all... or even roll it over if/when I leave before retirement, I was FURIOUS!! a MANDATORY 200$ out of every paycheck and I can't touch it unless I'm dead and it gets assigned to my beneficiary, I'm completely unable to work for more than 60 days, and then it's only 50% of my benefit... or retirement age. Then they say that my benefits aren't based on the amount I have paid in... it's based on service credits and that (these are their words) someone with a higher rank than me gets more money upon total disability or retirement. So, basically, I'm paying for the Directors and higher ups to go retire on some island and travel the world...
Trust me, the more things add up... the less I want to stay at a job where I'm paying THEM for the privilege to work FOR them...

What I can't fathom is why is it so effin' complicated to do a schedule every week and put half the people in one shift and the other half in another. I'm pissed with this and about had it! I specifically asked for a certain shift due to my other job. They want me to quit, well I've been looking for another job!

Delta Airlines pissed me off today. Apparently my entire flight itinerary for the 19th has been changed. I found this out by accident today when I randomly clicked on my confirmation email from them. Yes, I will still arrive on the 19th, and it is "only" two hours later then the original arrival time.
But here's what pissed me off:
I called and asked why I had not been notified by phone or email at the time of the change. I was told that they did not have my email address. Funny, that is where I received my itinerary. I was also told that the file was noted that they had called my cellphone number and that there was no answer. No answer? I asked why I had not received a voice mail. The representative informed me again that an attempt was made to contact me and there was no answer.
On what planet (no pun intended) is this acceptable practice from any airline?
Also...
I was told I could reserve space in the cabin closet for garment bags on any of Delta's flights. Apparently, it is first come first serve. So, if 1st class, or business class fills up the closets before I board, they'll either make me stuff my garment bags (with formal wear in them) in the overhead compartment, or send them to the luggage compartment. WTF? Their only suggestion to avoid this was to ship them to my destination now. Really? So, it looks like I will be strapping into my seat and laying my garment bag on my lap, because it is not going in the overhead or luggage. No way.
I used to love flying Delta. They are never getting another dime from me.
And now, I am giving this over to the Universe, because I am not going to allow anything to put a cloud over our trip to LR. We are going to have a fabulous time!

Grumpy people!!!
What is up recently. Are the stars out of alignment. They are everywhere.
I saw a grumpy woman throw, yes THROW a half gallon of milk at a Walmart cashier the other day. Yes, Walmart cashiers can be frustrating but throwing a thing of milk?
Yesterday, I was sitting at a stop sign. It's one of those that stops you before entering a busy highway. It was right at lunch so the cars where pretty heavy. This lady was sitting there waiting to pull out. She must have been a nervous driver cause she kept starting and stopping. I guess she kept deciding she didn't have enough room. After about the third time, the man that was between me and the lady got out of his car, stomped up to the lady and started pounding on her trunk with both hands. :seeingstars:
Last night at around midnight, my phone rang. It was one of those "withheld" numbers. I picked up and said hello. It was a wrong number. Well, nobody calls me that late so I was pretty freaked out. I thought something had happened to either my elderly parents or AJ. I know I sounded a little tense, but really how rude can one "hello" be? This yahoo starts yelling at me about not needing to be so rude, didn't mean to call wrong number, his person must have given him the wrong number. Well it took a couple minutes before I realized I could just hang up. Duh. What a JERK.
I swear, there is something grumpy making in our water right now and I really don't like it.

The freaking sever in my school's network. It's been having problems for the longest time, but the IT people there are worse, because they seem to only make the sever run with more errors than it already had, which then makes it impossible for people to do their work, check e-mail, register, apply for funds, pay their bills, or anything. Chimera
Karen Glenn
This morning early, I followed
the rural roads deep into Nevada,
rolling and curving through the tiny towns
until I found the place I'd read about
where some sheep have human livers,
others human blood, and just one,
a human heart. It was in your newspaper, too,
I bet, not some H.G. Wells nightmare,
filled with beasts that groan and speak,
but a lab farm, scoured and neat,
shining with aluminum and chemicals,
a place where a liver grown
inside a sheep is not a horror, but a hope
for folks who need one. At first
it was a disappointment. In the lab and
in the field, the sheep crowded together,
baaing—looking, acting just like sheep—
nothing distinguishing about them.
But then the one with the human heart
followed the scientist who'd made him
with his eyes, watched the tracks
her small feet made across
the lab's damp floor. He stood stock still
in the stall when she touched him
with her cold instruments, then nuzzled
her soft hands. Even I could feel it.
It's something we all know—
how the heart keeps wanting, wanting
the unnameable, the impossible, yearning in the dark,
like a sheep at night in a cold barn.

Myself, I am weak.
Are you sure you're weak?
Perhaps not relevant to you but this makes me think about how, sometimes as women in this culture, we're trained to blame ourselves for other people's creepiness.
We're trained to say, "It wasn't that they were out of line, it was that I was weak and let them."
Coming from a strong place, I eventually rejected that point of view.
From your posts, I can say you are WAY not weak.

cats that piss on beds and have fleas and their owner.
mostly it's their owner pissing me off...
but dang!
never judge a book by its cover... on the outside this is a $300,000 house in an immaculate neighborhood ...
on the inside is an owner that has shocked me several times with her disrespectful and "oh well" attitude ...THEN her VERY highly privileged and classist behavior.
there's many newly made discoveries that pissed me off today .. I don't feel like giving it more credit ...
but if my dog gets fleas ... the cats' owner will be paying the bill!!

i am actually grateful for the opportunity to live and work in Canada but sometimes the process pisses me the hell OFF. They make it as difficult as possible, that i am sure of.
Permanent Residence status is the next step, it's not Citizenship, i will not even be able to vote... YET..
i was required to submit letters from my last 10 years of employment verifying my claims of employment. Luckily they all responded and i have them now. Even with pay stubs and tax forms they want personal letters from my previous bosses. Good thing i was a good employee!
i was required to submit a language test. This test cost 375.00 plus hotel and travel to Ottawa to prove that i speak English. i understand that one must speak the national language in some way shape or form but really that whole process was a bit much.
Then the grueling forms that had to be filled out, the packet is humungous and it has to be mailed in to a receiving center then forwarded to the process center.. along with
$550.00.
It's not for the weak that's for sure!

As I was leaving this morning, I noticed a small brown Yorkie running around loose. My daughter found a tag with a far-away address and phone number, so I drove her down to the bus stop and called the number. Well, I wasn't calling someone from the other side of town, but someone from upstairs.
I'm so tired of moronic pet owners that I let him have it with both barrels, about how there are snakes in the nearby woods, how the dog could get into a tussle with another animal, or be hit by a car, not to mention the leash law in this city. I have had it. I returned dog to his sleepy owner (good! I hope I woke him back up!) and had to rush back in to write this :P.

I was approached by an event coordinator/wedding planner about my photography. We have been emailing back and forth about jobs, contracts, and the like. Upon trying to work out a meeting time to discuss what she is looking for, I received responses such as "kool with whatever". :twitch:
Then, she emailed back asking for a spreadsheet of my pricing and the products that I can offer for both weddings and regular portraits. I sent one. I received the response of "kewl". That was it. Not even an entire sentence. Not even a correctly spelled word. Hell, not even a capitalized word. :twitch: :twitch:
My entire dealings with this lady have been like trying to carry on a conversation with a teenager. One would assume that interactions of this nature would at least warrant a more professional attitude, especially since she is the one trying to retain services.
I'm meeting with her tomorrow evening. If I hear one "kewl" or anything else teeny-bopper-ish, my ass is going to the house and she can attempt to find another photographer. My next three weeks are already booked with shoots. I don't have time for bullshit. :readfineprint:

Today was a great day. My son, GHD, and I went pumpkin picking at a farm near our home. My son's father, stepmother, and sister also went with us...and for once, my son's father behaved himself. We all had a wonderful time...there was a huge corn maze, a petting zoo, etc...all in all it was a wonderful day. However, halfway through the day, my back started screaming at me. It made it very hard to enjoy all the activities, and I HATE it that I have to sit things out and can't do all the things with my son that I want to. Tonight, I am paying for the fun I had today...my knees, back, hands...I am so sick of my body betraying me and it pisses me off that I can't do all the things I used to do. I hate it when I have to tell my son "I'm sorry honey, but I just can't." He never reproaches me, or gets upset when I tell him that...but it bothers ME. Sigh...I am just so tired of it!

I apologize to everyone for the rant that is about to come, its about my family and the way that myself, my mom and my sister are treated .......
I have a cousin who thinks she is a big shot, like her crap doesn't stink and that she can get away with anything. Her mother is a cousin of mine and she hasn't been the best parent but she could be worse; the father on the other hand is truly a piece of work. Anyways the cousin in question thought it was funny to teach her 3 year old nephew to swear and posted it on facebook like it was the most hilarious thing ever (and she even said so). A couple of people, including my mom, made the comment that you shouldn't be teaching him something like that (my cousin has her own little boy who is less than a year old). Now I know she can be rude, BUT today she basically told my mom, and the others who commented, to "f*ck off bitches".
This same cousin who earlier this year we, all four of us, went to her baby shower and gave her really nice gifts; my mom even went out of her way to make not only a beautiful centerpiece for the head table but also a beautiful pin on corsage and a beautiful wristlet. My mom always goes out of her way to do things for family and yet they always slap us in the face somehow, and I'll be damned if I'm going to continue to put up with being abused by the same people who are supposed to love us. 3/4 of my family I don't even consider "Family"; other than my parents and my sister as well as my three best friends here in the city its my Planet family that I consider to be more family than my blood will ever be.
Its sad really, how blood is often not thicker than water but in this case I'd choose the water anyday!

A new employee of mine who is so amazingly clueless as to walk into my office to discuss her "promotion potential" which is, frankly, non-existent. She has dropped the ball so many times I have lost count. Set several projects back by a good 1-2 months through incompetence and inattention to detail then lied about the status. I try to give folks a break, provide them with training, etc. but she has pushed one too many buttons and compromised the integrity of my entire team. Today she tried to shift blame to another co-worker which is intolerable. Own your mistakes (we all make them) and I will help you out, blame someone else and you aren't good enough to roll with my team.
My only question now is to go in for the quick kill or take my time with a slow bleed. Either way that little gazelle is about to be culled from the herd. :getout:

I'm way passed "pissed off". I'm nuclear.
My daughter broke up with her boyfriend last week because he wanted to do physical things (yay, daughter!!). I found out tonight that he's been spreading it around his family and some of his friends that they went "all the way". Daughter is beside herself, and I'm ready to sue for libel. What a prick.
Now his mother wants to talk to me about it. I hope she does. I'm going to bring it.
(if anyone has any advice for this, feel free to visitor or private message me).

Problem solved, I hope. Although I'm not overly proud of myself.
I told OtherMom that if it had happened, then HER son obviously didn't say no at any time. And, if she slandered my daughter that I would be talking to my lawyer (which is true, although I probably wouldn't have had any kind of case). I think that's the end of it.

I managed a brief walk today, the first in a long time, walked to my village store, got there to find a new girl working behind the counter, she spent the entire time gossiping with some young lad who was obviously her friend, when I thanked her as I left, after she'd served me and talked over me at the same time, she pretty much blanked me and gave a vacuous smile in response ... I may end up talking to the guy who runs the store, cos, you know, being polite costs nothing!
Please, thank you, excuse me, etc ... kids today need to be taught this all over again it seems!

well yesterday but still today thinking about it still kinda. I was going speed limit and a bit over in a residential area and a motorcycle rider driving aggresively behind me passed me on a two lane road only to come up to a red light. I got behind him and started honking. The light turned green and he just stayed there. I continued with my hand on the horn while he's staring at me. I said, "it's green effin' go. you wanted to go, go!" ...as I continue with my hand on the horn. Finally, I turn my wheel to go around him and he starts to go. I get to the next light and I turn before I get pissed more and I had my girl and my pup with me and didn't want to continue behind his asss pissed. Then I think shit all these stickers about Watch for motorcycles, share the road with motorcycles, yada, yada. I'm like F*ck. Maybe they need to be more responsible on the road! Nice how they think they can be invincible and do what they want and just because they are smaller and may go faster doesn't mean I can't turn my wheel and get around them just as well! Man, was I pissed and thought maybe with me honking, calling his ass out on it, he may think about his actions next time instead of just darting around someone unsafely. I find myself using my horn more these days in FloriDUH with these idiot drivers!

I just got off the phone from a friend at home (the city I just moved from). She called to inform me that the person I was "dating" was still in a relationship. She just wanted to give me a heads up.
Funny story... I'm not dating anyone. And have never dated the person she was talking about.
I am a bit pissed off right now. Turns out I am quite the topic of conversation back home.
I guess if you just up and disappear and don't tell people you are moving, they make up stories because they don't know what is really going on.
I shouldn't have to explain myself to anyone.
I can't decide whether to let the rumours spin out while I'm not there or if I should do something about it. I am a bit too pissed off at the moment to make a decision.
Normally I try to avoid the Chicks and drama, but I didn't get a choice this time, I became the drama in absence.
Yes, pissed off.

My son has lately become very fond of the TV show Bones. I love most shows in the Law and Order genre, but can only take Brennan in small doses. She's just so socially inept and odd sometimes. I realize that this is part of the schtick of the show, but it's like watching an extreme form of myself.
But one episode just sticks in my craw. The team is trying to solve a crime and are working with a Japanese forensic anthropologist (I think) who happens to be genderqueer or androgynous. The "joke" of the episode is that this entire team tries everything short of copping a feel to figure out if the person is male or female.
Firstly, even I knew that there's a subculture in Japan involving androgyny. I know little of Japanese culture, but had heard of this (one of the characters mentions it as well).
Second, it's set in Washington, D.C. In that big city, I'm sure things go down that make Cabaret look like tea at two. I find it really, really hard to believe that absolutely no one in that lab has seen a genderqueer person. I'd find it hard to believe that no one there knows someone in our family.
Hell, I was a sheltered little snowflake when I arrived at Reunion or on the site in the beginning, and probably pretty naive, and still didn't give a damn. But maybe I'm a bad example, as I'm family myself. Even if I were straight, I'd know you don't play silly games or "accidentally" bump someone to see what they've got.
I just didn't like the line of "look at the little freak", like a sideshow. People are people, not amusements.

I had one of "those" calls today from a patient's mom. She was pissed b/c she wrote a check at the MD office on 11/2 and her statement from 11/9 did not reflect it. So, I told her that the MD provided me with the payment info on 11/14 and that her balance was now $xxx.xx. TYPICALLY that is enough-most people just want to know that their bill is right but not this women.
She bitched and cussed for several minutes, asking me what I was going to do in the future to make sure that her bills were right when they were sent out-after all "just how long DOES it take you to post a payment???"
So, I replied, "that office gave us your payment yesterday and it was posted on your account by today; if you have concerns about how long it takes for the payment to be reflected, you may want to discuss them with the MD at your daughter's next visit."
Sadly, this is pretty common. In fact, two weeks is actually an improvement. Sometimes it takes up to 4-6 weeks for us to get info, although they are faster about payments.
I have talked to the MDs countless times about this, about getting chewed on for things I have no control over-to no avail. The MDs run their office without help. They refuse to hire a nurse, assistant or even a receptionist. I understand that paying salary/benefits is costly but, if you make $225/hour (minimum) how can hiring (especially part-time) someone be more expensive than using your time to copy payments, take them to the bank, run to the post office, answer the phones, file charts---and get your biller needed documentation?

A friend really pissed me of tonight. He invited me to a party a couple of friends of his where throwing, one of whom I'd met once before. He said it would be a good opportunity for me to meet some new people in this city.
So I went to this party where I knew NO ONE, and they had all clearly known each other since the dawn of time. People kept asking me how I knew the hosts, and I explained that a mutual friend had invited me but he wasn't there yet. They were all friendly and empathic about the awkwardness of the situation, but eventually went to back to catching up with and talking to their friends about vacations, jobs, and kids, while I tried to get the cat to pay attention to me.
The host had called him a few times asking what was going on, and apparently he was no longer sure what he wanted to do, he might show up later, etc. Thanks for the warning, buddy.
After a few hours, my friend still hadn't shown and I eventually left. I haven't heard from him all night.

Long story, short.........When I went shopping in the middle of the night Friday morning, I finally found my jeans they had on sale. I picked up 5 pair and went to the dressing room to try them on. I had gotten hot in the store, and had laid my coat with my truck keys in the pocket in my buggy with a bunch of flannel shirts tshirts and some other stuff. I put my buggy right beside the dressing room door and got my jeans out and went in to try them on. When I came out my buggy wasn't where I left it. I thought perhaps someone moved it to look at the clothes in the rack I had parked in front of. I walked around the rack and didn't find my buggy. I'm standing there holding my jeans, and it dawns on me that my coat and my keys were in the buggy. I was livid!
There was a lady and her husband standing there, she ask what was wrong. I told her and she said ya about have to have a buggy guard on black friday. I said if I see someone walking around here with my coat in that buggy they are probably gonna need a body guard. Her husband offered to get me a buggy and he took off. It was 15 minutes before he came back and he had to go to the parking lot to get a buggy. Mind you it is still dark outside at this point. I put my jeans in the buggy, thank them and turn to walk away and I see that whoever took my buggy took, my coat and the rest of the stuff I had in the buggy and threw it in the floor between the racks of clothes. REALLY?! Some piece of shit is to stupid to get their own buggy as they come in or grab one in the parking lot as they come in.
I was again livid. I can honestly say that had I walked out of the dressing room when someone was walking off with my buggy or throwing my stuff in the floor, I would have showed my REDNECK ASS and it would have taken all four of the deputies I saw in the store to lock me up. Really what kind of ASS takes your stuff out of your buggy to steal your buggy when they can clearly see it has personal stuff in it. It is obviously not an abandoned buggy.
At any rate I saved a huge amount of money. Spent $50 on jeans and that was a $125 savings just on them. So by the time I left the store I was back in the Christmas spirit.

When I worked at Hell-Mart (walmart) in my early 20s, I saw this shit happen a lot. The first year those razr scooters were on the black friday sale, I watched a woman put two in her buggy and then make her 9 year old daughter sit on top of them. Another woman literally shoved the 9 year old girl OUT of the buggy headfirst onto the floor, to get the scooters. People are fucking stupid and I would like to punch (most of) them squarely in the face.

Here lately its been abusive people. Abusers who are both physical and emotional abuse. Its still abuse.
In my opinion if you are going to be abusive of any kind. You have no business having kids, and or a partner, or an animal.
There are too many families, single people and people who love animals who would love them as they should be loved.
SMH.... I cant stand abusers. It makes me angry to see abuse of any kind...

These two posts are examples of why I will not do "Black Friday." People turn into shopping addicts and think nothing of injuring, or worse, someone else to save a few dollars. I know I could not tolerate it and someone would get hurt and arrested.

Hey Ruby,
I was actually at that party. I couldn't figure out how I recognized you, but when I did I was always on the other side of the room from you.
Anyway, I hope you managed to do something fun with the rest of your night.
What, no say that's not true lol. How embarrassing! Which one were you?
I went home, put on stretch pants, and watched The Hangover on tv.
Shitty thing is, it came down to communication error/cell phone fail, and then my friend gave me a Bodum french press, and now I feel like a bitch for being mad. Yay.

- The suckiness of coming around a curve and not being able to miss a ginormous hellacious pothole in the road.
- Even more sucky is slamming so hard into it that it completely bent and warped a wheel.
- Suckier still, is that no one within an hour of me sells aluminum 7-spoke chrome 15" wheels that would match my other three.
- Needless to say...I am pissed at the road, pissed at myself for hitting the pothole, pissed that one new wheel could cost so damn much, pissed that I didn't even realize I only had a donut tire as a spare, and pissed that I am sitting here with no car for a few days while I wait for the new wheel I ordered to be delivered.

Been involved with installs lately, I am moving our Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services from a 2005 environment to 2012 environment. I have only been trying to get the go ahead on this for over three years. Thinking "what a stroll in the park" until I noticed Visual Studio 2012 was utilizing the Data Tool 2010 component which belongs with Visual Studio 2010. And I could see that the 2012 Data Tool was inside VS 2012. Worked all afternoon but couldn't get the grabby #&@*!$ to use its own. It was getting late, I was cranky ... so I had to go into brute force mode. I uninstalled the 2010 component. Now VS 2012 is using its own. Of course, it blew out a gizmo in VS 2010. I will correct that tomorrow by giving it back via reinstall. I so want to get this completed and back to coding.

U.S.-Backed Project Threatens Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Environmentalists Say
(http://www.courthousenews.com/2012/12/14/53136.htm)
SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The U.S. Export-Import Bank illegally supplied $2.95 billion for a "massive fossil fuel project" that could pollute Australia's Great Barrier Reef and the hundreds of species that depend on it, environmentalists claim in court.
The Center for Biological Diversity, Pacific Environment, and Turtle Island Restoration Network sued the Export-Import Bank of the United States, in Federal Court.
The environmentalists claim the bank supplied the funding despite the lack of mandatory biological assessments and environmental impact surveys.
The 1,600-mile-long Great Barrier Reef parallels the coast of Queensland, Australia from 10 to 90 miles offshore. It is longer than the Great Wall of China, and is the only living thing on Earth that can be seen from space.
More than 400 species of coral inhabit the reef, as do more than 1,500 species of tropical fish, dozens of species of reptiles, including crocodiles and sea turtles and more than 200 species of birds. Humpback whiles migrate to the reef from the Antarctic to breed.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee listed the Great Barrier Reef as a world heritage site in 1981.
The environmentalists claim the Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas project will irreparably damage the reef's beauty and its vibrant ecosystem.
"This case challenges the Export-Import Bank of the United States' ('Ex-Im Bank') decision to provide $2.95 billion USD in financing for the development and construction of the Australia Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas ('LNG') Project within Australia's Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area. Ex-Im Bank, a U.S. federal agency, funded this massive fossil fuel project, which will include gas drilling, pipeline construction, construction of an LNG production facility and terminal, and transport through the Great Barrier Reef, without properly consulting and considering the project's substantial impacts on threatened and endangered species and the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, as required by the U.S. Endangered Species Act ('ESA') ... and the National Historic Preservation Act ('NHPA')," the complaint states. (Citations omitted).
"Specifically, the Australian Pacific LNG project ('the project') is located in Queensland, Australia and will comprise the entire process of liquefied natural gas production. The project's proponents will drill up to 10,000 coal-seam gas wells in interior Queensland, install nearly 300 miles of pipeline to transport the gas to the coast, construct and operate a massive LNG facility to condense the gas to liquid and prepare it for transport, dredge the adjacent harbor, and then ship directly through the Great Barrier Reef to export the gas around the world."
The project is a joint venture between Origin energy, ConocoPhilips, and the China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec).
In addition to wells and pipelines, the project will include a facility that will cover 740 acres of land and 800 acres of seabed, and process 18 million metric tons of natural gas per year.
"The LNG processing facility and terminal will be located on and near Curtis Island, within the boundaries of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, which is renowned for its beauty and rare species habitat. The LNG facility is also located within designated habitat for the dugong, a species listed under the U.S. ESA as 'endangered,' and is located within habitat for U.S. threatened-listed green sea turtles, endangered loggerhead sea turtles, and threatened saltwater crocodiles," the complaint states.
The plaintiffs claim the project poses special harm to dugongs and sea turtles.
Dugongs, which are related to manatees, have been listed as endangered since the 1970s. Their shrinking populations are threatened by hunting and human destruction of their delicate seagrass habitats, and by "underwater noise and vessel strikes," according to the complaint.
"A large portion of the world's dugongs inhabit Australia, including the Great Barrier Reef. Dugongs occur in Port Curtis and Gladstone Harbor and near Curtis Island. In recent years, the number of dugong strandings along the Queensland coast has increased, and the Gladstone area is considered a hotspot for these strandings. Between January 2011 and September 2012, the Queensland Department of Environmental and Heritage Protection documented 17 dugong strandings in the Gladstone area alone and a total of 41 dugong strandings throughout the state," the complaint states.
The Great Barrier Reef is also a breeding ground for green and loggerhead sea turtles. Like dugongs, sea turtles face population decline due to vessel strikes from fishing boats, beach erosion and seagrass destruction, the complaint states.
The plaintiffs say the project also will damage the environment by contaminating the water with toxic metals.
After completion, the project will "emit over 11 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalents ('C02e') per year at maximum capacity," the complaint states.
Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act requires federal agencies to obtain lists of protected wildlife from wildlife services to ensure that their actions will not harm endangered or threatened species - even if their actions do not take place on U.S. soil.
As the "official export credit agency of the United States," the Ex-Im Bank must comply with federal laws, including the Endangered Species Act and the National Historic Preservation Act, the environmentalists say. But the Ex-Im Bank did not consult with wildlife agencies to mitigate the project's impacts on endangered species.
Since the Great Barrier Reef is a world heritage site, the plaintiffs say, Ex-Im Bank should have conducted surveys assessing the project's impacts to the ref and "develop[ed] modifications to avoid or mitigate those impacts" as required by the National Historical Preservation Act.
Ex-Im Bank can use its authority as financial backer to force the project leaders to include mitigation measures to its environmental impacts, the complaint states.
If compelled to complete surveys in compliance with the ESA and NHPA, the plaintiffs claim, "Ex-Im Bank might require additional environmental mitigation of the project's impacts as a condition of its funding. Further, in order to conduct the required ESA and NHPA processes without irreversibly committing resources, Ex-Im Bank may delay its provision of financing for the project, and thus delay the project's construction or operation, or even cause the cancelation of the project."
The environmentalists seek declaratory judgment that Ex-Im Bank violated the ESA by failing to conduct biological assessments for endangered wildlife in the project area, and violated the NHPA by not taking into account its impacts to the Great Barrier Reef.
They seek a court order suspending the project until the bank fulfills these obligations.
They are represented by Miyoko Sakashita, staff attorney with Center for Biological Diversity.

.......being treated as though I am a freak because I was purchasing a friendship bracelet kit for my niece for xmas....money is money....even gay money, and many of us have family
You know this reminds me of last year Xmas time .
I was at macys in the perfume/cologne department.
Some lady age approx late 60's which is not important and she says in a snooty tone this to me " may I help you or are you just browsing or buying " .
I just got off of a 17 hr shift wearing my scrubs , face a bit scruffy , wearing a camo hunting jacket :) .
I said yes ma'am I would like to buy 2 perfume boxes and 1 cologne gift box of the .......
I was buying my mom and sister in law the women's fancy box set w the perfume with lotion w what ever else is in the box set and a cologne set for my brother .
The lady says to me " uhhh each box set is over 100 dollors " and laughs at me .
I pulled out my wallet and laid out 3,000 dollors on the counter and said to her
Well ma'am I'm glad I have here 3,000 dollors to buy those items with plenty more to spend on the other presents I have to get today and I'm also glad that I have a nice paying job as a registered nurse that allows me to be able to afford to buy nice gifts at Christmas time for my family .
She then has a completely changed attitude and says Ohhhhhh let me show you what's in this year for woman's fragrances.
I said no ma'am I've heard and seen enough from you and tough that you work on commission maybe I do not know but I'm not buying a thing from you .
I talked to the manager who was probably 30's. Very nice gal.
She was nice and allowed me to buy the fragrance from the nice gay man working upstairs :)
People shouldn't judge people for sure . I'm nothing to look at and look scruffy at times and don't dress the nicest but you never know when someone works hard or has something to give or spends :)
Sorry about your experience as well

A little while back, I had to have the tie rods done on my car. Inner and outer on the right side, and just outer on the left. So, when I got it back, and they took their sweet time doing it too, it had a significant "shimmy" to it. My ex, who is buddies with the guy who did the work, said it just needed to wear in....hmm....So, I've been driving it for a couple weeks now, and it did seem to mellow out a bit, but then I may have just adapted to driving it that way.
Last night, we were going over the hill to the next town to do some shopping. When we took sharp turns we heard this awful rubbing sound on the right side. We went right home When we got up, the tire was flat. Pancake flat. AND completely BALD. Which I know it had good tread left when the tie rod went a couple weeks ago because I got under the car to see where the problem was..therefore one of two things happened;
The guy failed to align my car properly after doing the tie rods and/or he gave the car a good inspection sticker with tires that were ready to go. Since the other tire also looks quite bald when it wasn't before, I'm inclined to think it's the previous. And seeing how I drive home late at night on dark winding roads, a tire blow out is NOT on my happy list of things to do.
I CAN say that I'm so grateful that, like the tie rod going, it wasn't at a pivotal time where the malfunction would be devastating. It could have been a lot worse....

A very good idea. Might want to have a second opinion on the work done so another good set of tires isn't compromised. Make sure to take pics in case you two opt to pursue this further, legally. That kind of neglect and disregard is just horrible.
I can't tell you how happy I am that I've found reliable and trustworthy mechanics to work on my car here. I was so sad to leave my guy at Cooper's back in WA but now I've found someone else that has my car's best interest, and mine, at heart.
Good luck!
Now, to be thread compliant, I was pissed off at around 2:20am this morning because the winds had kicked up something fierce and taken something on our upstairs neighbor's balcony and was banging it around. It woke me up out of a deep, sound sleep and it took me quite a while to calm down and fall asleep again. I even went to bed a little early so I'd be fresh as a daisy since I'm coming off of two days off and that usually makes for mayhem at work.

My son's school called this morning with a recorded message saying that he wasn't there and that I needed to call to explain his absence. Since I watched him get on the bus this morning I, of course, had a minor panic attack at this news! I called the school and found out that his bus arrived at the school a little late. His homeroom teacher had already taken attendance and neglected to update the roll to reflect that my son arrived. WHAT??? What kind of system is that?? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the school checks in about absences....but holy hanna!! You can't just call a parent and tell her that her child didn't arrive at school!! Did you even consider the kind of panic that sets off in a mother when you tell her that the child she put on the bus didn't actually make it to the school?? If you know a bus arrived late, CHECK the attendance before you make that phone call!!!

I had this brilliant idea that I was going to make a homemade apple pie, and ended up having to call the fire department because my smoke detector went off when trying to make the filling.
During the panic of trying to open all my windows and doors, and eventually calling 911, I ruined the filling.
Deciding to try to finish the damn pie anyway, I put it in the oven...and the smoke detector went off again.
What the hell is wrong with my oven?

I was at the store, looking at stuff to decorate our new bedroom with (decorating is the only way I can get excited about moving) And I was looking at some mirrors/artwork. This woman comes by behind me with her cart a huge bed in the bag sticking out over the edge and whacks me right in the back with it! I turned and looked at her and she was like.."I need a u-haul teehee"
And
Then, if that weren't enough, I'm looking at some lovely glass containers (I'm wanting to try making terrarium...I've been endlessly fascinated with them since I was a kid) and I'm less than 18 inches away from the endcap looking at the assortment and this man comes around the corner and goes RIGHT BETWEEN me and the endcap..pushing me aside as he does and doesn't even ACKNOWLEDGE that he did it.
AND
The man was the husband of the woman who hit me with her comforter... :|

He MADE me call her and talk to her about working for me on my surgery date (Monday next) He had assured me a MONTH ago when I informed him of my surgery date that he would work it out with the other PCA. I reminded him today as a formality (I THOUGHT) which brought this all up. I had also informed her as well and they both make like this is new information...
He went on to say he wasn't going to tolerate "dissension in the ranks" and we needed to all get along....REALLY??? He's the one that agreed that she doesn't do her share and what not...he's had to talk to her about doing her work...

My client....telling me that I AM the one that has to fix the rift with my co-worker...a rift that I did NOT start.
I'm so wickedly pissed..not just at his words but his TONE...if the economy wasn't the shit pot that it is, I would quit this second and be confident about getting another job by Friday next. If it were that easy....
I do my job. I do it well. Getting along with a PCA I never see or speak to is not in my job description. Especially when she has been openly hostile..and failed to communicate with my client in ways that make things more difficult. I'm just sooo done.

I had a ridiculous craving for dill pickles, so I bought an 80 oz jar (I also had the thought that this will make a good change jar later) of Vlasic Kosher Dills...So, later at home, after having them refrigerated for awhile (I only like them ice cold), I'm crunching away, and I take the time to read the label, looking for carbohydrate content.
and I see this:
Serving size: Approximately 1/4 pickle
WTF?? How many people snap into a Vlasic and only eat 1/4 of a pickle (the equivalent of one bite)?
It pisses me off when I see things (not that I eat them) that are convenience foods, that are just big enough for a meal, labeled as 2.5 servings (examples: Cup of soup, or a packaged burrito). I want to see honesty in labeling. If your product is five billion calories for a mouthful, then you should just say that. Obviously these companies know that their calories, salt, carbohydrate, and fat contents are ridiculous, or they wouldn't label their products this way.
Jeez, (insert sarcastic voice here) I wonder why so many Americans have a hard time controlling their health issues?
The FDA needs to demand these companies use honest labeling, and create more nutritious foods that actually benefit our bodies, and stop giving them so many loopholes to find ways to fool consumers. And if they won't force these companies into complying, then we as consumers should do something about it.
End rant.

Seems I post here more and more often.... :|
well, it was one of those days....
I go to get the truck from my ex (I am still borrowing his car till ours is fixed) and..per usual..the gas I put in was GONE...ok...fine..I left early so that's ok...
Go to the gas station. It's PACKED...go on to the next one. It's Sunday. Billy doesn't open on Sudays....never has. DUH...go back to the packed station (the gas was REALLYYY low..below E...no other choice) the station is STILL PACKED...I pull in and park my ass there. Then notice one of the clerks that works there shooting the shit with another one that works there...she FINALLY goes over to her car, which is at the pump, and moves it so others can get gas... :|
Then, I realize that I haven't eaten. I realize this due to gnawing hunger. I remembered I had pretzels in my work bag...but they fell out when I peeled out of the gas station in disgust. I have to close the passenger door better anyhow so I pull over and grab the pretzels whilest I do this....then, while taking a sharp turn, they promptly spill allllllll over the exes truck :|
Then...I get to the grocery store with the bubble invaders. I deal with it cuz I'm getting used to it...and because I got some wine while I was there...and that helped my mood...sometimes even anticipation is therapeutic...
Get to my client's house. NO PARKING.... per usual. :| I have 25 lbs of carrots to bring in, 8lbs of apples...my own stuff and misc other groceries...I am parked allllt he way on the other side of the common...and still have to go get this stuff for him. BECAUSE someone parked in the 10 minute parking spot and never moved.. for DAYS...
Then he gives me attitude about a red pepper that I TOLD Him I bought WHEN i bought it...and lastly...I'm trying to study for my entrance exams for nursing school. I sat in the kitchen where the light is gooder, and every few minutes he either comes in or calls me in. Now that I am on the couch he hasn't spoken to me in 30 minutes or more....seriously??
I KNEW today that I should have stayed in bed.....this is what I get for doing the growed up thing...

Before I had even logged in at work this morning, this conversation pissed me the fuck off...
Supervisor Tom (someone I have never met, and didn't bother to introduce themselves to me before expecting me to take him seriously): Hey, you need to remove that photo of Obama, we're not allowed to have political things at our desks here.
Me: :| (moment of stunned silence): When did a photo of the current President become a political statement, and not about showing my patriotism?
Supervisor Tom (shrugs): I was just told to tell you that you have to take it down.
Me: Who told you to deliver this directive?
Supervisor Tom: It doesn't matter, you just need to take it down.
Me: It matters to me, because I have never seen that in an employee handbook, it is not political material, and I would like to address this with the proper party.
Supervisor Tom: :| I'll have to get back to you.

As you can see, there is no political party emblem, or campaign slogan. It is simply a picture of President Obama, and a smaller photo of his family. This conversation felt so surreal, I can hardly believe it took place. What fucking country is this? I would never complain about someone having a picture of a president at their desk, whether I voted for that president or not. I would think of it only as an act of pride in our president, and in our country.
My immediate supervisor's face, became absolutely crimson with fury when I told him about this conversation. I advised him that until they can show me in the employee handbook, that a photo of our president is a political statement that is not allowed to adorn my desk, I would be leaving it up.
I swear that guy thought I would just do as he asked, without complaint. Which tells you that he has no idea who he was talking to. He also looked pissed off when he told me to remove it, as if I had personally offended him, and I think he may be one of two that had a problem with it to begin with.
I can tell you, that I will take this as far as I need to, I will not back down. It is absolutely absurd, and it felt very much like harassment.

I went to McDs for a tea on my way to work...I order it very Sallylike I admit ....
Large tea half cut with lemon and no ice
I tell the orderer that...and it doesn't come up on my screen correctly, so I tell her so. She tells me she knows and the amount and such...
I get my tea...it has ice...I tell the girl it was supposed to be NO ice..she looks at me and says "she says you didn't say no ice" And I proceed to tell her that I did and it the screen thing...She looks confused and upset...and this other girl comes over (the one taking orders I believe) and snatches the cup from my hand (since the other girl wouldn't even take it back from me) and dumps it out and makes it all over....Hands it back to me without a word....and instead of half cut she has put half and half in it. With lemon :|
By this time I am going to be late for work and I can't do anything more about it...but I was tealess and tired as a result of my caffeine free day!
And yes...I know there are far worse things in the world...but this was my peeve for the day. More so because it is further testimony to the downward spiral that is customer service...and human relations in general

All that voted against the bill are Repbulicans. I suspect we have republican members here at the Planet. It must be somewhat difficult to see their party consistently put the needs of women lower on the priority list. I see Rubio one of the new Golden Boys of the GOP is all down for immigration reform but not protecting women against violence. I can't help but wonder what is their justification for voting against this bill. Probably something like "We all ready have laws on the book that covers this. These laws just need to be enforced."

So true about the Golden Boys. The extreme GOP. Santorum...I helped to vote him out. It was my pleasure. Rubio should back up his supposed concern about the protections of immigrants.
This Act could protect against acts of violence to native americans, LGBT and immigrants.

Freakin Wells Fargo why the heck do I bank there? Spent over an hour arguing with them over a withdrawl...wth do I need to explain why I am withdrawing such a large sum. Then when I finally got fed up and decided to close my accounts having the branch manager tell me no she isn't going to and she can do that based on discretion. Well luckily the area manager agrees with me and says she is being ridiculous but this doesn't make me any less pissed off. Bye bye wells Fargo you can suck it
So, it goes something like this....
All day long someone is usually sitting at the computer typing in logs on each kid... things they do, interactions, moods, plans, etc. Today I was sharing the wealth with another staff on this task... in between my regular tasks of cooking meals, answering doors, taking calls, etc. It's getting close to shift end and I am wrapping up logs for 25 youth. No biggy. All is good on the homefornt... until... I close everything out and remember I need to go back to one specific youth's log and add a few things I had overlooked. Still no biggy. I do the multiple click sequence and finally get his log open, scroll down to where I type in the info... and low and behold... The field is blank!! :mohawk:
No worries... I got this. I'll just type it all back in... It's all still fresh in my mind. I finish and save and close it all out. Hmmmmm.... I wonder if I should check another just to see if everything is still there? I pick another youth's name and go through the click sequence/process... OMG Noooooo!!!!There's NOTHING in her field either!! :annoyed:
I'm beginning to freak just a bit... :seeingstars:
Frantically I open another log... and another... and another!! There is nothing in any of them!! All my work is lost in the nether regions of cyber space!! I'm at the point of laughing hysterically, tearing up from frustration, and blowing a gasket from sheer anger!! :explode:
I had to sit behind the computer an extra hour retyping EVERYTHING!!
Yeh, needless to say, I was a little more than pissed this evening...

I went to the DMV to renew my CDL for another eight years. Come to find out every time you renew your license you have to retake the HazMat computer exam to also keep your Haz endorsement. What sucks is that I just took and passed this exam last year. I wish I had known about that ahead of time. At least when I pass it again it'll be good for the full eight years of my license. Then I just have to do the fingerprints and background every five years to remain current.
Ugh, back to studying this bull ...

What made me sad and pissed me off today ...
I just found out why such tragedy has happened to my family.
It was all due to the stupidity of my cousin's wife.
Now a 4 y/o child is dead,
a 5 y/o one is in a coma,
the other 4 are being taken away
and my cousin is going to have to face all that
along with his wife now going to jail for making this happen.
Why are people so stupid?
How do you not know better?
How do you make choices that have an end result like this?
Be freakin' safe in life.
Make good choices.
If you are going to be stupid, do it alone.
Never take small children with you.
Never think you are invincible
and "that will never happen to me"!!
*deep breath*
Thanks for a place to rant.

my inability to get a seized nut off the egr valve on my explorer...used everything I can think of ...grrr...may actually need to pay someone to do it..that's the part that ticks me off even more
Can you Dremel it off? I did that with a few seized nuts on my Jeep...worked like a charm.

An email from a perspective employer. She corrected me on my wording of my employment for an agency. I explained to her exactly WHY I worded it as such (for my client's privacy) and she emailed me AGAIN and corrected me AGAIN on the same thing.
SO....me being me and today being that kind of DAY....
I told her thank you but I don't see it working for me....and proceeded to correct her spelling. Bad energy abounded. And it was fewer hours than I have now anyway. Thanks. I will PASS..
to try to get a last word in and correct her....not kewl...sorry, I don;t agree with your tactic in that regard, having been an HR Administrator for years and having worked with staffing agencies.
I don't think that it's the job of any person or agent to correct the grammar or spelling of an applicant unless it's a requirement of their position (editor, etc).
I totally understand Cinnamon's frustration when she had explained why she wrote it out like she did. I would have been highly irritated with the behavior of the potential employer too and would have given long thought to whether I wanted to put myself in an environment with this on a daily basis. If they are going to do that to someone they don't know through email, imagine how it would be in person, working day to day with them.
No thanks.

I think the biggest mistake that employers and potential employer make is they forget this one lil fact...
While they are evaluating us, we are evaluating them... while we are in a probational period, so are they...

March 7, 2013: A woman holds up turtles in small plastic bags after buying them from a vendor in Beijing on March 7. Each bag, filled with oxygen & nutritional liquid, can keep the animal alive for two months & sells for less than $2. Many animal-rights groups are calling for an end to the practice, which is legal in China. Some Chinese use plastic bags containing turtles or gold fish as key chains & believe they bring good luck. (© Kim Kyung-Hoon/Reuters)
With an accompanying picture of two tiny little turtles in plastic bags (I can't post the picture from my iPad). I am angry and broken hearted at the same time.

I lost an incredible friend on Monday. Today while I was out feeding the animals I hear sirens blazing. I turn around and swarms of cops, crime scene trucks and the coroner are flying down the road (a dirt road mind you). I am the curious type so I hop on Sassy and ride down just 3 miles from home until I find them. I was stopped of course and a few of w the other neighbors were there also. We wait, watching as 4 officers walk out of the wooded area with a body bag. After a few hours we were able to find out that it was the body of a teenager. Its a small place here so if you listen you hear alot. Bless her heart, she had been stabbed. We lose people every day that have added so much to our lives and those of others while crap like this happens. At this point it seems pretty insane to me that people like the person that murdered this girl are roaming the earth while good people are taken away.

I asked my 'co-worker' to cover for me today. We got a foot of snow and digging out was NOT fun...and I knew I was going to be late....and.... after I covered for her for 2 WEEKS, (so she could go on vacation) she told me she couldn't....
My employer has stressed to me that when I need a day off I am to ask this person, instead of the person who WANTS the hours, and has no other means of income....the girl who never wants to work for me HAS another job. I told him I have given her ample opportunity which she never takes advantage of. I'd rather give the hours to someone who needs it....

After a long and stupid day at work, I was at my last store, training the last few new reps and when I went out to my car, some jerk had broken my driver's side mirror almost completely off. It was danging by the cable that adjusts the mirror. I duct taped it back together, drove home and we both have to work this weekend in opposite ends of the city. So we do need both cars, both days and will not have time have time to look for and price a new mirror.
Something tells me that a new mirror for a 20 yo Topaz is gonna be a beeyotch to find.

DMW gave me a lead on helping to find one too. Y'all are too sweet! I can probably put it on if I can find it, because it looks like it just needs a couple of screws to stick it on.

doctors that don't LISTEN to their patient and pass off in just a guessing game ...every time you go back for the same problem they just make another quick guess but refuse to give an RX that is the ONLY THING that works because it's steroids and they're "afraid of liability "...I'm tired of their guessing game for the 5 minutes they spend looking at the computer and NOT listening and tired of being bounced around from on specialist to an entirely different kind of specialist ...

People who make fun of others to feel better about themselves.
I saw this out on the race course yesterday- people laughing at someone who might be a little slower, or overweight. But they're trying dammit. They didn't have the same upbringing as you, may not have been encouraged to run or walk from their youth like you were. They are still human and deserve to be treated with respect. And they are still athletes and they crossed the same finish line as you and got the same medal as you did.
It drives me nuts when someone in any situation in life feels they can take someone they don't know and make them a target and judge them when they don't know anything about them.
