I spent a few hours this morning getting the apartment organized, cleaned because I had a work order in and wanted things to be pleasant for maintenance when they got here. Our crew is so nice, friendly, helpful, pleasant to be around. They took care of the issues I was having with the washing machine and dishwasher, finally. I've had other guys out and, well they tried, hard working, but I still needed this pair to have a look.

Anyhow that took up a large part of my morning, early afternoon. Didn't feel like doing it but afterwards forced myself to break down, clean Monte's water fountain – disgusting! The water here is so hard. Everything gets all scaly and nothing works. I think to get the hard water build up crud off I'd need a file or steel wool and that would damage the plastic. I think I'm going to just toss it and get something new, maybe a stainless steel, fountain type.

With that out of the way spent some time on the computer. Now I'm getting ready to place a Walmart order. It's been a busy day and Monte and I both skipped lunch so I fed him and now that he's down for a nap it's time to think about feeding me. I've pulled out some hamburger, waiting for it to thaw. The kids defrost things in the microwave but I always wind up cooking the edges rock hard and the centers stay raw no matter what I try so food poisoning be damned I'm just doing it the old fashioned way, so far it hasn't killed me yet.

FSF??? Have you tried this hard water remedy? Add some White Vinegar, slowly, to Baking Soda, in a cup, until it forms a paste. Spread the paste onto affected areas and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes. Then take a non-scratch micro fibre cloth to clean the paste from affected surfaces. Should come clean without too much effort.

Maintenance turned up temp on the hot water heater and in a blink after just one load of clothes, and one of dishes it was gone. If I'd have tried that maybe I might have been able to spare maintenance a trip out. Well next time. I'm sure it will come in handy a lot in the future though. Afterwards I cleaned both the fridge and the freezer and used it on some spots, because who wants toxic chemical crud around their food, and it worked like magic. Thanks for the tip!

It's a hay day. :cowboy: Forty bales (a truck load) will get my two giddyups a little closer to hay season which normally starts in June. It's a little cloudy out there but fingers crossed, I should be able to get home and unload my truck before any rain starts.

Its my day off and I'm working on new decorator pillows for my new furniture. I didn't like the pillows it came with. So many days of hemming and hawing, I made a choice. Of course it's tropical! It's my life now in Florida🌴🌴🌴☀️

I bought a coordinating fabric for the back. I also am trying my hand at cording. The trim that finishes the outside edges. I ended up making 20 yards of trim!

Sooo, I just finished one. Only 4 more to go.

Feed the horses and muck the stalls. Also today is dump day so it will probably mean two trips between the store and the house trash. We break down cardboard at the store for recycling so that will almost fill the truck on the one run. I have to get the store milk order in before noon and that will handle the morning.

We're heading out to run some errands, drop paperwork off at the office, drop paperwork off someplace else, put in a work order again, send off some mail. Then tag along with J as she runs her errands. Afterwards hit the grocery store as we both have some shopping to do. Later I'm going to try and make the wraps J gave me her recipe for, work on grocery list, order Monte's grub, watch new true crime documentary that looks interesting. Check into monthlyTV documentary subscription. I just learned about it and it looks pretty interesting, first month free and there after ridiculously cheap I think like 5 or 10 dollars a month, something like that. Not all true crime lots of different things, science, history, health, travel, cooking you name it. I should add cleaning on the list but no way it's too beautiful out to do anything but get out, enjoy the weather, feel some sun and latter come home air out the place and watch the sunset with the slider and all the windows open. Last night Monte and I slept on the couch with the the sliding door open a bit and it was so nice. The air out here reminds me of how every place in town used to smell before things got so developed. Brings back lots of good memories.

Washed/vacuumed my car and truck
Cleaned my place top to bottom
Cleaned both of my fish tanks
Took down the wreath on my front door - now that the mama and papa birds (Robins) and their babies have all flown off to start their new lives elsewhere.

----> This has been an ongoing 3-4 week saga... as the mother built a nest into the wreath that was on my front door and laid 4 eggs in it.. I have spent the last 3-4 weeks watching the babies being born - being fed - growing up - and learning to fly. All along trying to protect them from falling out of the their nest (one actually did and I was able to get him/her back safely and into the nest) along with protecting them from a cat that belongs to my soon to be ex-landlord from trying to get to one of them for dinner. However, in the last two days they have all learned to successfully fly and have now moved onto greener pastures. I am just glad they remained safe. It was truly amazing to watch them go from the egg stage into the new born flying away stage.

and then I spent the remainder of my afternoon/early evening packing for my upcoming move.

Wash My car - which can already be checked off!

Buy a new bulb for the low beam light on the passenger side of My car (I JUST replaced the driver's side a week and a half ago - could they not have gone out together?) - this can be checked off as well!

Chat with Walmart associate about missing item. Check, and the customer service guy was fantastic, so polite, pleasant – really helpful! Every bit what customer service should be and is getting harder and harder to find these days.

House cleaning so J has nothing but the heavy stuff to help with. She isn't exactly the best housekeeper in the world so when she says something yeah I probably should be getting my butt in there and doing something about those floors. The good news is, she's like me when it comes to floors. Mostly we just sweep, vacuum, occasionally mop and generally not often enough so every once in awhile it's good to get down on our knees and give them a really good scrub, she sees the sense in that and that's what she helps with. She does one room while I work in the other and then we trade places, go over each others work and if need be tackle what they missed. LOL no sweeping it under the rug. Checking each others work, it keeps us honest.

Do some laundry.

Say to hell with healthy eating habits, chow down on some Cheetos and while I'm at it why not, make some sugar cookies.

Today I am going to try to put My new bed together. I should be able to do it - but it sure would go a lot quicker if I had another set of hands to hold the pieces and whatnot.

Then I will do some general house cleaning.

I also plan to purchase a couple of free standing shelving units for My garage so that I can sort and organize My seasonal (Fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas) decos, camping gear, and LEGO builds.

I also still have a couple of boxes of storage containers, tupperware, gladware, etc. that needs to be put away in the kitchen - that will get done.

I need to get My stereo connected. I have it set up where I want it in the livingroom but I have not hooked up the components to each other yet or the speakers to the receiver.

I also got a second litter box that needs to be set up so that My cats do not have to go to the bathroom in the same spot. The vet suggested this as a way to help Bear with the issue he has been showing. We shall see how it goes.

I need to lay out the indoor/outdoor carpet on my patio outside and then water My flowers. Even though we got some rain here yesterday it surely was not enough to keep those flowers wet for any length of time.

---I am sure I will run across more to do - but I am thinking this list right here will keep Me out of trouble for awhile. (laughing).

Get a few groceries.

Hang some more pictures around My place.

Sweep and swiffer.

Wash and vacuum My car and truck.

Do some paperwork stuff - like making folders for documents I need to print and then file away.

Keep organizing the garage. I am currently working on doing an inventory of My camping gear as well as My LEGO builds.

Set up an appointment to have one of My vehicles inspected the beginning of next week.

Water My flowers that are around My back patio.

Clean My grill.

This all will likely get spread over today and tomorrow - however, it will get done. That being said - off I go to get started on it all.

Still to come – Monte gets a manicure. Research printers/ink. Make flan, from a box mix. Not sure how that's going to work or if it will. Spa day – face mask, foot peel, hair mask. Buy some silverware, or maybe not. I've been wanting this set for a while and if it seems spendy now it will be way out of my price range after it's retired. The clock is ticking.

Organize all of the syllabuses for My upcoming classes. (we are in preview week- so while we cannot post in our discussions for submit homework until the 6th - we can actually get a jumpstart on it all and have it ready for submission before the first day)

Likely start some of the aforementioned homework.

Go to an appointment with My computer guy to upgrade one of My laptops.

Go to the grocery.

Wash My car. (possibly My truck too).

Schedule an oil change appt. for My car.

I've already been to physical therapy. The rest of my day will involve clearing my work calendar. I have nine cases that need review and work, and I am going to get them done today. I'm taking the next 5 days off, completely, not even checking work email, and I want to finish everything that's currently on my to-do list first. Normally, I check work email every day, including weekends, holidays, sick days, and any other days off. I've even checked work emails while waiting to go into surgery. I need to work on better balance in my work life, so finishing these items and taking this time completely away from my job is my first step to that.

Well, I heard back from the mechanic. It seems my gut feeling was right; transmission issue.

<insert happy dance for a warranty>

Anyway, they are flushing and replacing the fluid and we'll see if that helps. If not, I have an appointment at the dealership next week, and they will have to do the heavy lifting of pulling it out and seeing what's up.

My agenda included errands which may not get done since the mechanic still has my vehicle but also home stuff, which also may not get done because I woke up with a tweaked back and shoulder.

Sooooo.....*shrug*.....

- Order groceries. - COMPLETE
- Pick up prescription for Brittany at vet, and talk to vet about details of what exactly we have to do to un-giardia this house and all of her belongings and, most importantly, her.
- Pick up grocery order.
- Sign up for a new patient portal that's going to ask me way too many questions so I can message my doctor to find out if the boy and I should get tested for giardia. - COMPLETE
- Make an appointment with a different doctor.
- "Encourage" the boy to do his chores. - COMPLETE
- Go through 2 weeks worth of mail.
- change sheets and do laundry
- Contact my health insurance company to see why I can't log in to their web site. And then, remember why I needed to log in to their website in the first place.
- Call animal shelter about next phase of heartworm injections. (And perhaps raise some Cain about why they gave me a dog with heartworms, an ear infection and giardia.)

A heart stress test is on the calendar today.

I completed one years ago on a treadmill but this one is a chemical test. Not sure what all it includes. I’ll know more when I arrive at the testing facility later this morning.

Have been fasting since yesterday and food is on the brain. Maybe I’ll go out for an omelette after the test is over.

Thank goodness the snow isn’t sticking to roads, yet, because I still have some driving issues. Nothing as bad as when I was on the left coast, but I’m still nervous especially on the highway when it’s snowing.

My doc isn’t too concerned about my heart since I ride a bike on most days, but he’s just being cautious because I had some unusual pain in my chest.

My day was busy and a little stressful. My mother had laser cateract surgery and had the follow ups but this last one something with blood vessel in eye bleeding so she has to go to a retina specialist tomorrow. Things seem so different now... For me I had cateract surgery at very young at and in the 80s wasn't so advanced like now. I didn't get a lens implant when I was a teen because back then the lens implants were not perfected yet. The laser took up a whole room and made loud popping noises too back then. The productive part of my day was painting old pavers to be used in garden.

Most of my day was spent in bed, as I was having a not very good day. Too sad to face the world.

I did get up in the evening because the boy requested that I help him with a baking project. He's been watching The Great British Baking show and now thinks he's a baker. He had an idea to turn one of his grandmother's cookie recipes and a can of cherry pie filling into a type of sheet cookie. It turns out I was mainly there for moral support as he didn't take any of my advice. As I predicted, he ending up with a sort of cobbler and not a sheet cookie. It was good anyway and we ate it with ice cream. Afterward, I was much cheered up.

I am glad food was good...In my younger days food was more of an artistic medium for me....like one time I made a snow femme with a handbag that was made from those sugared spiced candy and and handle was that thin shoestring licorice and I think I added candy red lips...lol. The cherries made me think of time back then that I thought I was being creative with banna bread and maraschino cherries.....I ended up with pink banana bread....so not one of my better creations. But I did find out mini Starburst yellow could be sculpted into a star which I used on cakepop tree I made.

All good feedback - the cherry banana bread is something I might have tried, now I will not. Good to know about moldable Starbursts, especially at this time of year. I haven't started my baking yet, but I will in a couple of weeks, and I can see this coming in handy. Thanks!

I like to hear about your baking ang maybe you have some good ideas.Only fancy cookie I made in past was those stained glass ones.I think it's sugar cookie dough and you cut out center and put crushed jolly rancher candy.I don't remember how long you bake for....oh makes me think of time I made olaf marshmellow cookie type thing. The website I saw it on used sugared orange candy cut to nose but I didn't like the look so here is another idea for snowman nose I molded mini orange star burst into carrot nose.I might have use tiny bit of those Wilson melts to hold nose on. For olaf arms I was kinda fancy ...lol I used shoestring licorice and cut to look like branch but you lay out on wax paper and use coco melt by painting licorice using like a glue you add other pieces and paint a few times till pieces hold good and melts hard the ya do back side.lt looks nice a a branch...

It's just me and Brittany for the next 24 hours or so - the fam is out doing Christmas stuff. That's just as well, I can blast some alternative Christmas tunes (think the Pogues and Sting and the Waitresses) while I do the following:

- finish cleaning the guest bathroom
- clean the kitchen
- call my Mom
- wrap presents
- prep tomorrow night's dinner

and then B and I will finish watching The Nightmare Before Christmas before we snuggle down in our beds, while visions of sugarplums dance in our heads.

Make fast food type tartar sauce
Wrap presents
Finish laundry
Cut up stacks of old T-shirts too worn to donate to use for things around the house like dust cloths and more.
Do the dishes
Drain then scrub and disinfect the bathtub. I filled it just in case because of the bad weather, forgot about it, then walked in to find Monte drinking out of it. Or at least trying. Not from the tub where there's water in abundance but from the faucet with barely a drop coming out. Okay then so it's been established, Survival Kitty you're not. I kind of figured as much the day I found him trying to hide behind some cardboard boxes large enough to cover up most of him but left his ears sticking out. I wanted to believe it was a one off and give him the benefit of the doubt but... Yeah well I love you anyway I told him.

More housework. I have appointments with two social service workers coming up and I don't want either of them thinking J isn't taking good care of me. I don't know why they always suspect that. It's like I told the last one - Of course she isn't abusing me. If she was why would my son still be walking around unharmed? I mean he's the one who picked her. Car shopping....wish me luck. My 2016 350 truck will not be a trade-in. The truck gets like 12 per gallon and I need something more traveling friendly. I will be paying cash so I hope that gets me some bargining power. Looking at either a Subaru Crosstrek or Forester. I drive so little I am thinking I might be able to get by with a used vehicle as they now can easily get 100k plus miles. I guess there is something good to be said about getting old.....expensive purchases can be considered your last.

Hey nh I hear ya bud. I bought what I thought would be my last buy and got used van and paid cash. Done, lol. Thats good thinking or so I thought. Van has given me not 10cents worth of trouble. Good luck car shopping! I've had the same thought about getting a used Subaru Forester or an Outback, and how it will probably be my last car.

I also had a similar thought about my dog - how she will probably be my last dog. :|

Babysit, my place while J sees the chiropractor
Babysit latter, their place while J gets a massage

She and my grandson were involved in a minor fender bender the other day. The man who caused it tore out of there like a bet out of hell. Fortunately no one was hurt and they all have insurance. I guess my grandson handled it well and didn't start crying until he realized his mom was. Even then it was only just a bit. Everyone was calm and very polite. The woman who rear ended J gave Little Man a healthy snack treat and a stuffed toy hedgehog. No one wants a car wreck but if one can't be avoided this one went pretty well so far as these things go.

After J is done with her wellness trip then a quick run to the store to pick up a few things for dinner. Then home again home again jiggity jig.

We are supposed to have a storm coming in tonight and lasting through tomorrow. Then the temp is going to drop like a rock so no getting out of the usual snow work with luck and sun, it's just not going to happen.
Do some dishes, ok mostly silverware, because frozen meals only need a fork.
I need to go out and turn the plow truck around and make sure it has plenty of gas.
I've been bringing in wood but a few more rounds won't hurt and maybe I'll run a few pieces of slab through the chopsaw.
Go down cellar and check to see if I need an oil delivery.
Cancel my Dr's appt for tomorrow because the bandages are off and the hand look pretty good.
Go to the store and pick up some food and beverage so I won't be driving in that mess tomorrow.

Dinner. Going to eat at the “lodge.” In my area many ethinc groups (Poles, Lithuanians, Irish, etc.) have clubs. You don’t have to belong to the ethnic group to join, but you have to be approved by the “membership committee.” You become a member by connections with another member. My membership for one of the lodges was approved yesterday so a couple friends and I are celebrating (we celebrate anything around here) by gong to the lodge tonight for burgers and beer. Getting wood. I thought I was ready to skate on this chore but we have a storm headed our way. I run wood in my "big room" (20x30?) to cut back on my monthly winter oil bill of $1500.
The weather is great today and a sweat will actually be broke bringing the wood into the house. I have a nearby business where I can get two skid-steer bucket loads of kiln dried wood for basically $160 and that usually lasts me two weeks in real winter weather. Hoping this load will get me through the rest of this winter/spring and into summer front yard campfires.

I'm setting up a tea station in my room. I don't know why I never thought of this before. Prior to now, I only got tea if I asked the boy to make it, and I hate to ask him to do this kind of thing very often. He already does so many chores. But I ordered an electric tea kettle (introduced to me by a Canadian friend - I don't know why, but we don't really use these in the South - we used the kind you put on the stove). Anyway, I've got room for my 3 favorite teas and a tea cup on a shelf, and I'm moving some stuff around so I can have the kettle next to my Brita water pitcher. I can't wait to relax with some Honey Vanilla Chamomile.

It has just occurred to me that I could have used the microwave. Oh, well.

1. Call the insurance company and correct a letter they sent me. I hope it's not an argument, and that they will simply see the error of their ways.

2. Send notes to some of my medical providers asking for records.

3. Change Brittany's dog beds around the house for new ones.

4. Try to get Brittany to learn to catch a ball or at least chase it. I have purchased multitudes of balls, and she doesn't like any of them. I have high hopes for one that came in the mail yesterday, though; hopefully it is small and light enough for her.

5. Confirm dates and times and carpooling for an event Thursday, and find an outfit to wear.

6. Wash Brittany's toys in the clothes washer.

Now, coffee and getting myself rolling for work.

Work. Many meetings today. Hopefully time around that to do more of what I really need to do at work.

Quick turnaround time at home and then...

Evening crew time rowing on the river- happy place!

Work through piles of papers related to my father's health care.

Zone out.

Sleep.

My neighbor just came in from up North. Snowbirds. She invited me to Tacos tonight. She is sad about my Mom. She always helped my Mom bring in the trash can.

She also told me she wants to plant a hibiscus in her honor. I wish she could have been her the night she died. I could have really used a hug from her.

We will have fun tonight!

Well....we had a beach Day at Clearwater Beach today. This beach has super white silky sands. The water temp has cooled down Lucky us, the dolphins were so entertaining. They were closer to the shore and they were having fun, that's for sure. I love this beach and I'm not far from it, lucky me!

On the way home we stopped for ice cream. I've been wanting to try the Mexican Hot Chocolate flavor. It did not disappoint. Chocolate, cinnamon and some Cheyenne pepper. My fav now!

In a little while we will be heading downtown to a new brewery. We can sit under the trees and have dinner, try new brews and listen to some live music.

Now this has been a perfect Summer Day!

I'm meeting a friend shortly to climb Black Mountain. It's my friend's birthday and almost retirement party. I think it's going to be a heck of a climb. I'm excited. It's a two hour drive each way and probably 5 hours of climbing so that's going to be a lot of my day. Then there will be showering, hydrating, and eating. Though we might go out to eat after in our dirty climbing clothes so we can have a toast to her milestones.

The garden club I belong to is having internal wars. The president versus the other officers. While I helped start this club, I chose not to be an officer. I’ve got way too much on my plate. But now that it looks like the club is going to fall apart, I need to get involved so that it doesn’t die completely. Today is an emergency meeting. I have to go!
After the meeting, my daughter is taking me to purchase some mum. When I get hom,. I’m going to paint some pots. I rooted a bunch of succulents and I’m going to repot them so that I can give them away as Christmas gifts.
And I’m probably going to make something called bubalinky chicken, something my mother was quite famous for

I have a rep from a local company coming out to give me an estimate on a few minor repairs (replacing a couple of doors and windows) and then a larger fix. I want to replace the middle roof of my home with the metal insulated panels I have seen on line. That will entail big $$$ but I spend $1500 a month in oil in cold weather and I think this would cut it down by a third. There is a ton of work here for this company if they do good work so we'll see.

Well that was an epic fail! When the rep started quoting me $3500 a window and $6000 to $8000 a door I thanked him for his time. I have gone back to Window World a cheaper option and I figure if they can give me 15 years a window it will work as that will be pretty near my expiration date. The Window World rep will be here on Saturday. The rep today did mention Foard Panels (made in the town next door) for the roof that would still need to be covered with metal but it is something I can explore.I have a rep from a local company coming out to give me an estimate on a few minor repairs (replacing a couple of doors and windows) and then a larger fix. Then I’m off to buy some clearance plants and bushes at Lowe’s. Lol.

- pack my medical bag with CPAP and meds

- take my weekly injection
- LEAVE!

I got a new to me hydroponic growing system, and I’ve been watching YT videos to help me get a feel for how they work and how to set them up. The system was in someone’s shed, and I bet he bought it to germinate seeds for his garden, but he never used it. Anyway, I just started a cycle with distilled water to clean it. I’ll probably run it again with dilute hydrogen peroxide next. Right now, I’m just getting the hang of the parts.

Reframing a 24"x36" poster that I was going to throw away. Mine is in a silver frame and I'm reframing it in a black frame similar to the one in the photo above.

Before tossing it out I took a look online to see if I could find it. I found it here (https://www.ebay.com/itm/394712648847?chn=ps&_trkparms=ispr%3D1&amdata=enc%3A1zEb9zcq9RheJFwhsexWP3g40&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=394712648847&targetid=2321110923301&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9017498&poi=&campaignid=21395177960&mkgroupid=173029507908&rlsatarget=pla-2321110923301&abcId=9447227&merchantid=764140102&gad_source=1) going for as much as $1,500.

I decided to keep it and reframe it because mine is in very good condition even though I've had it for over 40 years.

I'll see if I can sell it.

Well. I got through work. It's more rough than usual with everything going on.

I spent some time collecting broken pieces of glass from where we have been smashing things. Our rage space. We will make art of it.

I cooked a healthy dinner for my mom and I.

I stopped over at the house I'm readying to buy. It's a family house so I'm grateful I can do that. Did a little this and that.

But my goodness I'm exhausted. I don't think it's daylight savings, though that isn't helping. This emotional ride and preparing for the fight to come feels like such a weight on my entire body. We needed more than four years to recover from the last time.

We have an annual staff meeting after work today, but other than going to work and attending our staff meeting, I’ve been working on a project that my therapist and I began a couple years ago. I’ve been creating a journal of events and achievements from my lifetime, and including photographs from each event (etc). I found a small business out in Michigan that specializes in publishing these types of personal endeavors, so I’m publishing my private journal via this small business. I would have chosen a small business locally, but my favorite print shop went out of business during king chaos’s last reign of terror. I feel lucky that I found this fabulous print shop out in Michigan.

Most definitely!! I have my eye on the markdowns. I remember shopping at that store in So Cali, when it was called House of Fabrics. At times, I still refer to it like that. That was so many yards and outfits ago. Some times it was curtains and quilts.

I have bought fabrics on line but it's so hard to determine what it feels like. I have also bought garments to repurpose. However, I have lots of fabric in my Mom's stash.

Spring Cleaning. I'll do a room a day (or as long as it will take). Today was the bathroom. Cleaned the shower top to bottom. Even pulled out the teak cleaner and scrubbed the seat. Will oil it later today. The bathroom was easy since everything is freshly painted.

Moving light-weight items out of the way for the painter and his son who are here to fix some separations I have going on. The tape that helps connect the ceiling to the wall is coming apart in one area. It's not unusual for this to happen by the lake. It's windy here and the homes move. I used to get the same conditions on the west coast with the Santa Ana winds. They'll fix that today.

Tomorrow I'll tackle the bedroom, I guess. Spring cleaning will be my exercise till the house is spring-time clean.

Thanking my lucky stars to have a little home to spring clean and healthy enough to do it.
