Twas yesterday...
The boys got caught out in a wicked rain storm at the top of Chimney Rock with me...
Yoda was a former farm dog who slept in a dirt hole. He dealt with it well. We sat by a big rock since the rain was whipping so hard that it hurt. He kept looking up at the gigantic American flag that they. have up there.
Jacques was less stoic. He's been pampered always.. He got under the rock as far as he could and shivered and groomed. I had to bundle him in my jacket to make the descent. Lol
Both of my boys were tuckered out and slept really well last night. As did their mama..

My cat is often very clumsy. I don't leave things in places where she walks by because she knocks stuff over all the time. I find it ironic.

We hiked to an awesome bald and took in the amazing views.
The boys then proceeded to make me constantly nervous by getting too close to the edge of the cliff. I swear they did it on purpose.
Now we are all tuckered out. But...this time we made it out BEFORE a storm came up...good thing too cuz there was thunder and lightning. Yoda hates both.

This morning we had a big thunder storm, Riley who lived his first 6 years in Seattle all of the sudden hates the rain, and now shakes and quivers for thunder and lighting. He took his whole 60 pounds and curled up between my pillow and the head board. While little miss alice thought it was play time and danced over both of us trying to figure out what new game we were playing.

Second time this week- when I went to let the dog out this morning, my old lady cat bolted out the back door. She's an indoor cat. First time, the other day, she just sat at the door looking confused like she didn't know how she got there. Today though, I had to follow her around the house to catch her and bring her back in. Which was awesome cause I'd just rolled out of bed and was in my pajamas with my hair sticking up all over. :dance2::rollcat::cat:

One goofy goat cracked me up as she scratched her belly on the downed tree trunk...wiggling around until she hit the right spot.
Her sister got her head stuck AGAIN in the fence, then cried at me when I got her unstuck...
The other sister jumped around like she had a belly full of jumping beans or a gallon full of fermented honeysuckle wine.
My ever loving fluff ball pup cuddled up tight to me after I got home from the doctor's, and we took a long nap. He knows when I need cuddles the most.
The two resident pet chickens tried to cuddle up to the cat and take a sun bath.
And the baby turtle hissed at me when I tried to warm up her new habitat.

Today Monte bit two great big chunks out of two jumbo avocados. When I came home I had a lot of heavy bags so I set some of them on the washing machine. I saw him but I had no idea he'd be up there playing Count Dracula with the fruit because seriously what kind of cat does that? Hello Mr. Obligate Carnivore! The vet said the avocado wouldn’t hurt him and since he hadn’t eaten any of the produce bag only punctured holes in it to just keep an eye on him. Up until today I thought he was a pretty good cat but anymore I can’t with any honest certainty swear to it because well if he’d do that what wouldn’t he think to maybe do/eat next?

One of my cats tried to scare me by not presenting himself as usual this morning. Apparently he was just trying to prank me as he suddenly appeared in the middle of the stairs and tried to trip me. The others are in various stages of lounging and not bothering to get up and watching the birds at the bird feeder.

I don't know what they say about Boston Terriers, but I know with Parson Russell terriers they say that you should never leave them alone together. They can be the best of friends, but then have a terrible fight/attack.
My male dog trashed his sister's face when they were still in the first year. I have a scar on my arm where his sister latched onto me when I was pulling them apart. I have tossed an entire bucket of water on them (seemed like a good idea at the time...I had read it in a book), and it didn't even faze them.
I can post here since I'm keeping a dog for eight weeks.
I turned on the tv....there was a dog in the show that barked. So Lolli starts barking and runs to the back door which is no where near the tv. Then hears it again and runs to the front door barking. It was cute.

Since my accident I keep a thick pillow under my knees when I'm horizontal. Today Skip crawled up on the pillow rolled up in a tight little ball and fell asleep. Little man was sleeping so hard he was snoring and snoring so loud I got tickled at him. Then he started whimpering and doing a little yip in his sleep. I don't know what he was dreaming about but it must have been some serious fun, or he was dreaming he was 100 pounds and taking on a German Shepherd

Today Monte heard a loud noise and ran to hide. I couldn't find him in any of his usual spots so I checked in the back room and found him. He was hiding behind a cardboard box on the bed well-hidden save for, dead ringer give away, the tips of his ears above the box sticking up, showing. I'm glad he's got me because out in nature - I really don't think natural selection would be a friend to him, not if this is the best he can do when it comes to hiding.

One goofy goat jumped a 4 foot high fence (where I had them "mowing the lawn") to help herself to the wild blackberry bushes and briars....then decided to play "catch me if you can", when I approached her with the leash.
She's a slippery little fart when she doesn't want caught...but I outsmarted her by "driving" her towards the larger pen and locked the gate as she trotted inside, thinking she had won this catch-me game. When she discovered I had locked her gate, she was not a happy camper!! She started crying for her sisters, which made both sisters (still in the other pen) cry hard for her and try frantically to jump their way out.
They are triplets and hate to be more than 5 feet away from each other.

The boys hiked Craggy Pinnacle with me today on the parkway.
When we got to the top, Yoda stood on his back legs and took in the view like everyone else. It was funny to see.
A storm came up and Jacques got shivery cold. The temperature was about 10°colder up there anyhow with the elevation. He hid out in my jacket for a while til I realized I couldn't make the steep climb down with him tucked in there lol
On the way home we saw a bear and her cub cross the parkway. Yoda was supposedly a bear dog in his former farm life. He did sniff the air and take a particular interest.
Ohh and he got testy with a dog on the trail that he perceived as threatening to Jacques when all the poor pup wanted was to play...he's SO protective of his little brother

Nope they said, then I knew I was going regret not taking them out anyway. so low and behold it is 4:30 in the a. m. they bounced on me to...let is out,let us out we gotta go. So now I am waiting on them to come in. O.K. kids it's time to come in.

My dog was up at 3am sick, which is totally unlike him. He woke me up whimpering and doing his quiet "inside" bark needing to go out. He was outside for a while. During that time all of the cats ran out to the back porch thinking it was bonus late night bird watching time. They hid behind the table in a dark corner when I tried to get them to come back in. So... I had an early morning of cat wrangling and dog duty. Dog seems better now- still going out a little more than normal but is happy and bouncing around...
The baby kitty is frisky so we played chase me catch me. She had fun.

Bailey is really grieving for her sister Brandy. She will be 11 in July and she is usually a very happy little dog, but today she won't do nothing but lay around. She gets up and goes all around the house looking and then goes back to my spouse and lays down. The boys are Special Needs dogs. They are bad epileptic and have some brain damage from all their seizures, so they aren't too sure what is going on. They are litter mates. Baxter stole some chicken today when I was making chicken salad, and Bo begged and pleaded for some banana.
Today I almost drove over to PAWS to get a kitten for the baby kitty. I did show restraint though. I will call and talk to them first. The baby kitty came from PAWS and she has been a healthy happy cat. By the way the baby kitty is 10 years old now. Haha.😊
The baby kitty and I played fetch with her nurf football. She had a blast.

The cats have been sprawled out on the screened in back porch all day. Sometimes napping, sometimes stalking chipmunks and other critters. Mostly sprawling and napping. But one did take a flying leap onto a windowsill, missed it, and hung on by his paws for a few very comical awkward moments. :playingcat:
The dog has been sleeping at my feet or outside my office door when I have it closed for work. His eyes are begging for a walk. Soon, buddy. :dog:
Today I picked up the urn (ashes) of the oldest kitty. Seems awkward to me but I still have the ashes of my last kitty that lived into her 20's.
The baby kitty is glad to have me home today. She is doing okay alone but she stress eats. She has been a comfort eater for years.
I am sure that she will want to play after her morning nap.

Made a fast trip home at lunch, brought Kevie and Jennifer indoors and turned the air on 63 degrees. It was way too hot, especially for Kevin (bully mastiff mix) ... he cannot cool himself down with his shorter nose like other dogs - I watch him closely during hot weather.
Dropped by after work and let them out for about an hour while I went to pick up a few eats at Sams Club. Bought them a rottissure (<<-- too lazy to look up and correct spelling) chicken. They love that chicken from Sams. When I brought them in to feed them, I was yelling "chicken picnic." Those two words click the excitment button and turn it on extra high. LOL! They make me laugh so hard! And that is what it is all about for me. :)

Kevin and Jennifer have been revved up past the ceiling ALL DAY LONG. They seem not to be able to contain themselves. I have a 26' long uhaul truck backed up to my front porch. The metal ramp is about 3' off my front door. I am loading, loading, loading ... they are wanting to be in and out, in and out the back door to the fenced back yard the entire day.
I almost boarded them these last couple of days but glad I didn't. They are so good about paying attention when I turn on my firm voice ... both minded my instructions not to attempt to sneak out the front door. Course Jennifer had to get a little too close and press it to the edge a couple of times by trying to peer out. A loud "go back" put the skids on that behavior. Jennifer has so much in common (as far as behavioral characteristics) with my beloved Kelly Diane. Kelly went on to the Big House over Rainbow Bridge in January 2014. Bet Kelly is gently bossing everyone there. LOL!
If I cannot get the paperwork completed and the power on at the new place by tomorrow evening through this Power CO-OP, we three will be staying in a hotel tomorrow evening. I had no idea of the hoops one has to jump through if you have to enlist help from a Power CO-OP. And you have to pay a membership fee, plus other silly non-sense. I don't wish to be in a club, only want my freaking power on. It feels uncomfortable to be at their mercy but I do not have any additional choices. WTF???
The baby kitty and I played fetch with her new toy. It is a rubber cage like ball with a mouse in the middle that squeaks when rolled. We played and played.

My favorite goofy little goat loved the peanut butter cookies I shared with her...she "tried" the oatmeal cookies, but wanted more peanut butter...then when I offered her a shortbread cookie, she crumbled it up and spit it out. :| :|
She is proof that goats do NOT eat everything. I've never seen such a picky goat. And get this....she doesn't take a peanut butter cookie if I twist it open to let her taste the filling. She sniffs at it but won't take it.

My cats are more blatant about helping themselves, they just stick their faces into my water and help themselves. They don't leave "surprises" for me so it's all good.
Several of my girls are inside soaking up the air conditioner coolness, Bella however will NOT come in unless there is a rain storm. The others know what a storm front looks like so they are ready to come in before the onslaught. Savannah is the Princess, likes being cool all afternoon, she is quite the expert table clearer upper. Oh ya.... don't get me started.

They both nearly gave me a heart attack because he almost got under her back tire, and then finally after she came to a stop, she said "I saw something coming at me but didn't know what it was." :| :|

So I have been eating many varieties of apples: some I like, some not so much.
So the ones I haven't enjoyed, I have been presenting to the local squirrels for their enjoyment. Mr. Mars did not see the apples I put out until two of the squirrels were jostling over one. One of the squirrels took one apple up the tree and the other guarding the second.
Mr. Mars watched for a very long time, then out of the blue: took off and chased the second squirrel up the tree :playingcat:
After numerous squirrel chattering: Mr. Mars laid upon the second apple and stared up the tree for the longest time. Mr. Mars gave up and left without saying a word.

Diva Kitty and Tiny Dog spent the day separated. They both probably considered it a nice break . . .
Tiny Dog had an accident in the house this morning. She tried and tried to tell me she needed to go out, but I couldn't get dressed fast enough for her - so it wasn't her fault. However, I did not have time to bleach the floor before I went to work, so Tiny Dog had to stay in the kitchen all day, so she wouldn't walk on the dirty floor in the living room.
Tiny Dog politely supervised while I bleached the floor this evening. When I was done, she leaped across the clean floor and jumped up on the couch, like she had missed it all day.
So far, Diva Kitty and Tiny Dog have not communicated this evening, as far as I can tell, even though they are currently in the same room with me.

I finally broke down and combed the mats out of Kitty Diva's fur. She can usually keep up with her cleaning, but for some reason it recently got away from her and then it seemed like just overnight she had several mats. I hate to do it, because she hates it so much. I did it over several days, getting out just one at a time, so as not to irritate her too much. Now they're finally out, and she feels so much better! I mean, her fur feels better to me when I rub her, and I also mean, she personally feels more comfortable. She has been really loving since we got them out, probably because she feels like moving around again.
Tiny Dog is pleased because Kitty Diva is less irritable. There have been fewer dive-bombing nose swats.
I was just minding my own business and I guess the dog wanted to play. (We play wrestle) So suddenly she jumped at me when I wasn't looking. Scared the shit outta me!

Got in trouble is what they did!
The scene:
My dog, a 98 lb lab pit mix.
My girlfriends dog, a 60 lb border collie/lab mix
Me at home, my daughter in her room in lala land with headphones on- girlfriend out working on the road tonight- so just me in charge of the pups.
The dogs play really really well together. So good together. And they usually run around my back yard and play until they collapse.
Today though... they were playing playing playing, chasing each other around and then... they took off and terrorized the neighborhood. Bolted down the street. One of my neighbors caught my dog and held onto him while I chased the other through three neighbors yards. She chased a cat up a tree, got into it with another neighbors dog who is a huge police trained shepherd and round about again back to the neighbor who had my dog. Another neighbor stepped in to help hold my dog as he was too much for the nice neighbor lady who had him.
Then after getting them both I had to take both of them by their collars and walk home with them each pulling and leaping trying to get away.
Get to my house, go to open the front door. It's locked. Ringing the bell ringing the bell, knocking- why would my kid hear that? Oh, I don't know. But she didn't. So then I had to haul the dogs around the house to the back door that I knew was open.
Annoyed at myself for not asking neighbor dude to help me get them home. I have fresh stitches and was afraid I was going to pop them. But I didn't.

If anyone has herd a jack russel on the run will know what I mean. There was no talking her out of it as my other pup was in it to I knew something was up. Finely it all quit as quick as it started. I'm still wondering what it was.
Give her some rice, that will help sttle her tummy. Hope she is feeling better!

The new Apoquel meds are working, so he felt like playing with his froggie for the first time in over a year. I was so happy to watch him have fun and play hard without being miserable with his allergies.
It feels wonderful to see him feeling better. He had a great time wrestling with my roommate and making me laugh when he'd do something funny to make my roommate cringe.

I let her sleep with me last night and made the mistake of getting up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. When I came back into my completely darkened room and tried to get into bed, I discovered that she had made herself at home on my pillow...
and then GROWLED at me when I asked her to move!

My boxer baby boy apparently didn't like the tassels that were (were being a key word here) on my couch's throw pillow...he chewed off 2 of the four.
I didn't buy the pillow for the tassles though. I bought It for the elephants on the pillow...so I guess I have to amputate two tassles now huh
The baby kitty has super long fine fur and recently has started getting knots in her fur so I am becoming a reluctant cat groomer. I am not sure why at 10 years old she started getting knots in her fur.

A hint for detangling knots and what have you on long haired pets. When I was still showing horses I used something called show sheen that is real good to keep hair shiny and mains and tails knot free as possible, it is best when sprayed on damp combed out hair but can be used with out being brushed out just dampen the hair first. What I like about it is that it keeps the dirt and trash from sticking to the skin as well as hair. A big gallon jug cost me about $40.00 back then but it can be bought in smaller bottles for way less. If you have a big old wad of hair all snagged up just spray a lot on the snag, let it set then take a small knitting needle then hair by hair you can detangle the mess.

I've had several long-haired cats get this way as they grow older. It's like they just don't have the energy to groom that much fur any more, or they've lost interest, or something. In any case, as my cats have gotten older, I have groomed them too.
(Did you know that the surface area that the average cat has to clean, including all the sides of every single hair, is enough surface area to cover two football fields?)
Happy grooming -

The baby kitty keeps yelling at me to play. It may be time for a kitten to keep her company.

He wasn't a pet but I released the turtle I found. The weather took a warm turn and the naturalist I consulted said it was his best option. Done and done. I hope he thrives...
The dogs enjoyed his leftover hamburger (with rice) mixed into their food. I also included some sweet potato since I made a mammoth one.
We also had a very nice hike in a new woods.
And...last but not least...Bitsy has become a woman...time to see about spaying her. She's being a bit of a floozy with her brother....ick

This because for the first time in forever he didn't wait for me to fall asleep and then jump and hop around all over my body, as if to say - Dance mere peasant mortal fool, dance, it's party time - let's rumba!!!

The dogs are all welcoming her pretty well..Yoda is a bit too curious for my liking...
Not sure how she is with cats yet either.
Her name is Aria. Her family didn't update their phone number on her microchip. They are tracking her down but I got to the animal shelter just before closing. Hopefully all will be ok overnight...

I took Kevin and Jennifer on a very long walk before daylight this morning. Then it started raining and has rained all day. I have opened the back door at least 20 times today when the rain reduced itself to a light drizzel to see if they wanted to negotiate a few drops. They would go out briefly and then head for the back door. Thank goodness santa brought them 2 packs of nylabones with 3 to each package. These are holding up very well and they are helping somewhat with the pouty faces.

Diva Kitty came to take a nap with me today, and in so doing she tripped over my daily pill sorter. I didn't realize until after our nap that she had accidentally opened 6 of the 14 compartments and spilled various pills all over the bunched-up bedspread. It took awhile to figure out which ones were missing from which compartments and find them all, while trying not to move around too much.
Fortunately, I found them all, and neither Diva Kitty nor Tiny Dog ate any.
Later in an unrelated incident, Tiny Dog decided that me tossing laundry across my bedroom into a pile was too stimulating. She opted to nap in the hallway while I cleaned up my bedroom.

Meowee- My kitty,
is trying her best to not wake me up at 3am to eat, even tho I do leave her dry food out before I go to bed at night, she just eats that and wants more before daybreak.
So this morning I heard her in the kitchen trying her best to knock over and rip into her bag of food, it sounded like all hell was breaking loose.
Even tho I still had to get up and feed her.. at least she refrained screaming at me so blatantly in my face so early in the morning.
It's progress, slowly but surely..
I wouldn't mind so bad if she could at least have a cup of coffee made and waiting for me to stumble into the kitchen.

I made her go inside for awhile because she wandered too far outside their play area. She knew better, did it anyway. I calmly explained why she had to go inside. Jennifer is smart, she knew exactly what I said. Overall, she has improved a great deal. I've noticed that my boxer Yoda actually takes in the views when we hike to a mountain overlook. He's done it so many times now. He stands and surveys the surroundings. Takes it in. He's my Zen doggie.
Jacques did great on the long hike. He got tired (or cold) on a hike this weekend that was only 1.5 miles. He asked me to carry him at the half way point and I was worried. And yes, he has a way of asking me.
It was Bitsys first time on this mountain. She's barely a year old. She wasn't even tired when we got back to the car. The boys were snoring on the couch within 10 minutes of getting home.
Oh and they all did well meeting a fellow hiker that was going up as we were coming down. Super proud mom!

Pouty faces at dinnertime.
Trying out grain-free with no wet food mixed in. After I put their bowls of food in front of them, they looked into their bowls, both looked up at me wearing pouty face. I made my dinner, CoCo Puffs cereal in milk. It looked like what I gave them, little round dark balls. After noticing the similar looks, I held my bowl down, gave them a glimpse of mine and told them we would be eating the same dinner. Both shoved their faces into their bowls and munched until every bit was gone.

Two of my cats have habits of hanging out in the shower and in the bathroom in general. But not usually together. I went to go in there this morning and the door was 3/4 of the way shut. I was like, hmmm, because my daughter was still in bed and there's just me left so... slowly opened the door and they were playing hide and seek in there. Last night a small thunderstorm came up. I heard the first clap of thunder and before it was over my bedroom door was being pushed open very swiftly.
He came to my side of the bed and just let me pet him. That seemed enough, but he put his paws on the bed. I couldn't convince him to get on the bed...but I put a dog bed down on the floor next to me. I don't know how long he stayed there; he was gone when I woke up.

Today I took Arya, (the dog I found in a parking lot and found her owner a week later....only to find he can't have her where he's living...so my neighbor and I share custody of her..)for a hike with my 3 other dogs.
Fortunately, I have a nice spot that is infrequently frequented and I can let them off the leash. (All but Bitsy. She's a wild one).
So...we're going up the mountain and Arya suddenly darts off the path up the hillside into some brush. Yoda looked after her completely incredulous. I could read his thoughts just by looking at him. He had NO IDEA this whole time that you could go somewhere besides the trail. He paused for a good ten seconds and then quickly followed her.
Yoda has been iffy about Arya because she's bigger than him. But this hike opened a new door. Before long the two were walking side by side exploring together <3
Jacques got very frisky along the way. BIG difference from yesterday when I had to carry him down a (albeit bigger) mountain. I need to realize my little lamb is old. He'll be 12 in April.
As an addendum.. Arya is 11...

Couple weeks ago I went to find me an older cat to adopt. I've not had any pets for a while. Well, I got a little carried away and came home with two older brothers (couldn't split them) and then a another from a different litter. Yeah... I know... I know... seriously?! lol :jester:
Everyone's pretty well settled in so there will be some amusing tails ... or tales... soon. :p
There is a new baby kitty at the ranch. I found her today at Petsmart she came from Paws. She is one year old, black and white short hair with a cute pink nose, and very sweet.
The two kitties have not met yet but I am sure that they will have a blast together.
One of my new beasts need a name. I don't name my pets right off. Usually a name comes to me within a couple of weeks. But a name for this guy aludes me.
His (temp) names are... Pest... Pesty... Fucker... Fuckery... and occasionally, when he's being a lil sweet... Punk.
He's a lil terror to the other two cats. He's playful but too rough and doesn't stop when they've clearly had enough. And he's a lil shit with me too sometimes! But... when he's tired out... he's the sweetest angel! He'll come lay in my chest, purr like an F16, massage my throat with his claws, suck on my earlobe and go to sleep. It's pretty clear he was taken from his mom and litter mates too soon. Iol
That of course is the short list of his behaviors. I'm thinking MAYBE he's so contradictory (sp) because he's teething. I've just never had a pet go so long without a name coming to mind.
The other two have been dubbed... Chewy because he's the color of Chewbacca and he's the biggest and mellowest of the three. Then we have Grover which started out as Rover because he'll keeping crying till I throw a certain ping pong ball for him, he loves to fetch and he.loves to have his belly rubbed. Clearly a dog in a former life! :p

Well, what are his markings? Sometimes I've named pets for their markings. I had one cat that was black and white splotched but he had a perfectly formed upside down exclamation point on his nose so I named him Picasso. He was one of my favorites; a big ole love bug. His sister, Tigger, was so named because she was a tortie and her face was split exactly down the middle and had a tiger's markings on one side.
There was one cat I had that took a bit of time for his name to come and then there were several adaptions so it wound up, a few months later, being something completely different. He was completely black and we started with Wolfgang and called him Wolfy and then it somehow found it's way to Nadir by way of Wolfinator and then Nadir. Seeing as how he was black and one of the definitions is in relation to a low point on a celestial sphere, that sounded fairly accurate. He was a strange one but I think it had more to do with his birth. He was the last one out, Oreo was exhausted and had had enough, so she stood up and turned around and wacked his back end, which was hanging out, against the giant floor speakers we had in the living room. I tried to get her to settle down but she kept turning back and forth and knocking him around until he finally slid out.
We had another bunch of siblings also and they were completely identical...all grey tabbies. We had to color code their collars until we learned their personalities and named them.
The runt became Zona (short for Arizona) because we'd loved our visit there and a small baby deserved a big name, the one male was so chill we really had no choice but to name him Zen, one of the girls had a bit of narcolepsy but loved to karate kick everyone and so we named her Nikita, the Narcoleptic Kitty, but we had a similar problem as you with the last girl.
She was sweet but kind of middle the road; not too rabblerousing and not too relaxed. We struggled with naming her and were getting a bit frustrated with it all and we were talking about how patience was a virtue and then, BAM. Her name became Virtue. She also liked to suckle earlobes and would wedge herself between our shoulder and jaw and just sit there in ball for hours if we'd let her. She also had an inclination for suckling fingers too. Same litter and she was the only one of the siblings that had that fetish.
Of course, I prefer to go outside of the box when naming my pets and you may veer more traditional.

Okay, we have recently acquired another customer's pet because they were struggling to care for her. They are an elderly couple and it was just becoming too much for them. She is a 27 year old Blue and Gold Macaw named Willow. We know, we know, believe me! This morning as Bevi drove up the driveway, the dogs gave Bevi their usual four dog barky salute/window greeting. I was in a different room and what do I hear from Willow but a loud, "Knock it off!". A minute passes and of course the dogs continue barking because Bevi is still not through the door yet. Now comes another loud admonishment, "Knock it off!!". The barking continues and Willow, at her little parrot brain wit's end, screams, "Shut up!!" Rude I know, but I couldn't help but laugh.

Every time the phone rings, Willow answers with, "Hello.". I proceeded to explain to her about telemarketers, as the phone continued to ring and she continued to say, "Hello.". When the phone finally stopped ringing, she stopped helloing and I stopped explaining, she gave me a long chuckle. I think that bird was busting on me!

Monte is all snuggled up in his holiday print fleecy throw picked up at an after Christmas sale. I decided to crochet an edge around it to pretty it up for gift giving next year and went in search of yarn. When I returned, less than two full minutes later, there he was on top of it all hunkered down. Defiantly refusing to budge and looking up at me as if to say – Oh yeah? Make me! As if he didn’t already have a large enough collection of season appropriate, fleecy blankets of his own. I reached for it. He looked at me with a warning scowl, as if to say - Back away from the blanket and nobody needs to get hurt. I thought - Okay then, so Christmas in February it is. Still even though I realized resistance on my part would be futile, I did attempt my best to reason with him one last time, imploring – But what of the poor children in true need living in poverty next Christmas? Staring unconcernedly up at me indifferent, he turned his head away as if to say – So what of it? Let them eat cake! Then without a worry, care, concern in the world, he promptly passed right out.

5:30am. Pitch black and freezing out. Snowed all night and still coming down. I'm barefoot in my jammies and my dog gets tied up on his runner around a part of a tree that fell overnight. So I had to throw on the freezing cold snow boots that were out on the back porch and waddle out there in the cold and dark with snow pouring down to untangle him. He didn't even say thank you.
One of my cats threw up on my daughters bed.
That's about it.
I can do this all day. Like any of these?
I believe you! lol :)
I like Jinks and Mars! I'm going to try those on for size for a bit. Thank you!! :)
The kitties are in training for the superbowl. I have been throwing the nurff football for both of them. I think that I am doing most of the work but it is super fun.

Not really a pet, but, we have a bunch of bunnies that live on the land around here. My next door neighbor came knocking on my door about an hour ago- which scared me, cause it's late, to tell me that there was a bunny stuck in the fence between our yards. It had been running from her dogs and got stuck. My daughter, my neighbor, and I were able to bend the rods in the fencing and ease her out. Poor little bunny!

Confetti kitty not to happy with me today. I took her to the vet, she got her ear dug in, an antibiotic shot and ten claws trimmed. Poor little kitty has a sinus infection.
She will be back loving me in a few days.

Bella has a routine every morning when I make coffee. My Keurig is next to the sink and I stand on a little rug as I'm filling it with water. Every single morning, Bella waits for me to stand on the rug and start fiddling with the coffee pot and inevitably I will feel her sit her entire hairy ass on my foot with her back lengthened against my leg.
She leans against me and looks up with those biggo brown eyes and I can't help but lean down and snuggle her as the coffee starts dripping.
I've read in a couple of places that dogs do this to show they trust you. It's a pretty sweet feeling.
Hope, who is my little senior dachshund whom is blind. She is staying with my BFF's while I am away. They call me every day with the daily Hope report.
She is a really sweet dog to have come from the deplorable conditions she did. She was a hoarder's animal...one of the SIXTY who lived inside & none had ever gone outside...a neighbor reported the people to Animal Welfare who went out with deputies....the conditions that were described. I do NOT call her their pet NOR was she in a HOME. They were told to get rid of x number of the animals AND to clean that pig sty up OR have ALL the animals removed AND evict the people.
So Hope & a male dachshund, whom she was bred with..were put inside a plastic tote, duct taped shut, & left overnight at a shelter.
Her name was "Mabel"...I renamed her Hope...as I wanted her to have hope for a much better quality of life after the shitty first 8 years AND she was bringing hope to me for happier times to come my way once again. It was a shitty summer for me as well.
So, anyway, long story...Hope is such a sweet, gentle, & very trusting little soul once she got used to me (took a day) & she feels secure & safe. All the hair on her back & legs had come out, she had a horrible skin condition, chewed her leg hair & skin incessantly. Now she is on a med every day, gets bathed weekly, AND her hair has grown back a rich chestnut reddish brown & is curly. She is a semi longhaired little dachsie. She absolutely LOVES to get into shower with me...and just lays on bench beside me...she even lets me brush her teeth.
Hope has indeed brought me hope & I love her immensely. She gives me so much on a daily basis...so that is what my pet does..every day

Wasn't today but yesterday....
I was walking with my dogs and our shared foster dog at lake Lure. The lake is being drained right now for dam repairs. So
I let Arya, the 11 year old hound we foster for her owner, go So she could get a drink from the lake. Well...
She heard squirrels frolicking on the other side of the lake and crossed the channel to Chase them up the hill. It took some doing to get her attention and make her cross back over. Thank God she came back. I would have had to cross over myself and get her.
