My 40th bday is looming and I have been working towards being at my goal weight by then. I call it the "17 with an ass that wouldn't quit" body. For me, its really not about the number on the scale but more how I feel when I look in that mirror every morning. Its about how GOOD I physically felt then, the energy levels that I had, etc.

I know that I can't possibly recapture that 17 again - I want to be BETTER than I was - I don't want the next decade of my life to be "shoulda woulda coulda" because my body at the heavier weights wouldn't allow me to do what I wanted.
I totally agree. I can't wait to FEEL 25....instead of being 25 and feeling 80....my ankle is killing me the last few days and I know it's just b/c I'm working out and my poor joints have gone through so much already.

I can't wait to be able to dance until the sun comes up again.....

You are making some amazing progress and I want you to keep up the good work.

I must admit that YOU and so many others here, have encouraged me to make some changes of my own. THANK YOU for reaching out to your friends and family here and helping us all to focus on our health!

I love you gorgeous!

xoxox

I love you too sista!!!

I'm cannot wait until the next time we all see each other. We will be happier and healthier

So, guys...I have to say this with the utmost seriousness. You all are the reason for my success. Every day I log on here and find the support and accountability I need. Without it I would surely fail. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart

On a lighter less mushy note, I found that anything you can crave you can find low cal. These evening I REALLY wanted pizza....looked up a recipe in my biggest loser cookbook. We had thin and cripsy barbeque chicken pizza. It was fabulous!!!!!

Oh...and I weighed today on the scale I weighed on the very first time (the one at work) I was 392.0 on tuesday january 5th, 2010. Today...on wednesday January 20, 2010 I weigh....

379.8

That's 12.2 lbs in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YAY~!

Congrats, Candace!

I so want to be able to do this at my local Y or maybe this but the only ballet classes are for children or adults who have danced for years now. I wouldn't mind doing this if they put it at a time where I could make the darn classes.

On a side note, and in celebration of Candace's poundage drop, I announce that 2 of those little suckers have left me and found their way back....well, wherever they came from.

I have to say first of all that I *LOVE* this group!! I've been thinking alot about losing weight lately, and especially since finding out that I have to go for surgery I know for a fact that I need to lose weight (for My health, not for any other reason). I've been truly inspired reading this thread, not only by Candace and her will to lose weight in a way thats healthy for her but also that she has created this space as a way for herself (and others) to remain accountable for their own weight loss .............. brilliant !!!!!!!

I went to a specialist this past Tuesday to find out if I had to go for surgery or not (long story but turns out I do) and they weighed Me on a scale (which is the first time I've been weighed in a LONG time). The numbers were in kilos so once I got home I looked up the conversion into pounds on the internet and almost fainted when I saw what those kilos actually meant ............ I am at 354 lbs!!!!!!! Holy crap, how in the HELL did I ever let Myself get this far???? I saw those numbers and said to Myself alright man, its time to stop letting yourself go and start doing something about it so I'm coming back to this thread to get motivated to become healthy!!!!

I will be coming back to this thread often ............ thank you to all of those who have posted so far (and those yet to post), and I look forward to being along for the ride with all of you while we get healthy and lose weight

We all have to start somewhere my darling!!!!

I am so glad you are putting your best foot forward

So, I finally had so much pain in that ankle that I had to go to the doctor. I have the worst sprain the doctor has seen for a while. We wrapped it and he has instructed me to NOT workout for a week. A WEEK!!!!!!!! Geezus.....

I've been doing so well, this makes me nervous. I will continue and keep my head up...and my leg up for that matter hahaaa...

I'm sorry I missed the chat room tonight...unfortunately I was at the damn doctor. Had a late apt 6:30 since I procrastinated so long.

I hope it went well. I love you all....

One of the things that I would like to make mention of here is that I think we all need to be mindful of not measuring (or diminishing) our individual progress against each other.

The lovely Diva said something, that I am sure was tongue in cheek, about her "measely three pounds". I think that we need to remember that each of our bodies are different and while I may be on a plan where I lose 7lbs in a week, you can't compare yourself to that if you are on a plan where you lose 7lbs in two weeks.

Just as we are all different in how we think, etc, our bodies are wired differently. I think that ALL of our victories and efforts are cause for celebrations with fanfare and grandiosity!

Kudos to each of us in our efforts to be healthier!

WTG!!!

I am really back on the no carb wagon now! I came home early this week and Jess had made me a delish broccoli soup and ground chuck steak dinner - no carbs! yay!

I have discovered that WaWa not only has the eggs/bacon bowls, but i can have them take a cheesesteak and make it in a bowl too! I hope with the sale of Ukrops to Giant that I dont lose the amazing salad bar! That would be tragic!

If you miss mashed potatoes, try mashed cauliflower. Chili's used to serve this dish. Really loved it. I also like mashed turnips. Blame that on my crazy Yankee aunt. She blames it on our cousins in Ireland.

I suck at counting and keeping track. Last year I was feeling like crap. I had pain in my chest, stomach and for years trying to lose 50 lbs I picked up after a break-up.

anyhow, I looked into a diet called "Eat to Live". It seemed really extreme but I was ready to not only lose weight but heal my body. I adapted it quite a bit and lost a lot in a short amount of time. I struggled because I still like meat now and then and eat organic chicken. It was also hard to center your life around eating but I will say this... I never felt better.

I still eat things I really love just not as much. I love tacos and buy free range bison and organic ground turkey.

Here's the key and if you do this, just add this, it will greatly improve your health which will also help you naturally lose and begin to change your life.

I bought a Bullet Express. I juice carrots, ginger, celery and some kind of green- kale, spinach, whatever.
I also chopped cabbage, broccoli, parsley, all kinds of raw veggies. Put some olive oil and balsamic and some crumbled goat cheese.

I also do a fruit smoothie. Frozen berries, a banana, pineapple, frozen mango and a bit of organic soy milk. I make a BIG one too. Its very filling so many times i have this later in the day to help with my cravings.

I try to get as many raw fruits and veggies in my diet as I can. I make brown rice ahead and throw in all kinds of stuff. I eat whole wheat wraps with humus and more greens.

BUT I also eat other stuff, however many times I'm full from all the greens. I dont count anything. I focus on getting as many nutrients into my body as I can and stay away from processed food.

The other thing that helps me is that I make stuff ahead. Not just salads but chili, curry stews, things that are comforting, warm and will curb some cravings. I just make sure I add a salad or something.

I also buy organic fruit babyfood simply because some things are hard to get where I live and you run out. I want to get at least 6 servings of fruit a day... pears, blueberries, banana, mango, etc. Im in a hurry I eat babyfood or I run out of fruit.

I grow a lot but with this diet I need to increase but I dont grow fruit in winter. I started figuring out cost, gas, time and availability. In the winter it makes more sense for me to www.diamondorganics.com the food is shipped FREE overnight and its really fresh. Fresher then the stores. I get a large sampler packaged for 115 (12 lbs of produce) and that last me about 10 days. I still buy my organic carrots and tubs of spinach elsewhere.

You have to do what works for you. This works for me and I am noticing a difference in every aspect of my life. I do a pint of ice cream once or twice a month, love fresh bread and other goodies. I treat myself and I am still losing and week by week notice lots of things. I fell off over the holidays, ate too much crap an within 2 weeks felt like crao again and quickly got my ass in gear.

I just stopped smoking again, FIVE DAYS now and really feeling good.
Congrats on all your great changes, darling.

I need to get me a juicer. And a blender. Those are my next missions

I always wondered if what they said was true about carrot juice being tasty.
hmmm...

*smiles*

Welcome aboard!

I completely understand! I've now learned that there is only so much that my knees and ankles can take right now. I need to be careful and ice up before i exercise. These joints have been carrying a hell of a lot of weight around for a lot of years. I haven't been nice to them

This is so true.

Also, the fox are dangerous.
