was out yard saling today, and ran into a guy that guy the coin below in as good condition as picture shows...and got it for $25...i was drooling bc he got it for a steal! as for searching rolls at the bank ive never really done that except with the halves and eisenhowers...might be a good idea to get in with a teller or 2 and find out when the elderly ppl bring in coins--most of the time they can tell if its just regular stuff or if older!

just bumping this thread......i got a nice lil deal the other day(or at least i think so) paid $75 for 22 eisenhowers 17 of which were the bicentennial ones(melt value of $13 per coin...got 5 barber quarters, and 3 early 40s quarters..also a booker t washington commemorative and 5 sacageweas yr 2000...she threw in a couple wheaties and a 50th anniversary New Mexico coin 1912-1962!.....i also stumbled upon the franklin mint website...looks like a good place to get some higher end coins--just FYI!
of course i am always looking for the bicentennial quarters just bc--even have my staff looking! |

Sounds like you did get a good deal. One question, why do the bicentennial Eisenhower dollars have such a high melt value? Are they silver?
Thanks for the tip on the Franklin Mint...I will check it out. Quote:
