Do you or someone you know shake? Essential Tremors

Went to Doc last week due to my back but i mentioned that new treatment with "waves" sent to the brain that has actually totally stopped the shaking in people with Essential Tremors. He said he has been watching this closely as well and is a member, so am i, of the National Essential Tremor Foundation. He says it is too early to request this treatment, but to hang in there. He said another year and it should be a go.

That's good news for me, and for anyone else that shakes due to this disease. I will continue to update this thread with more research and more information as i find it. Feel free to do so yourself if you want, or private messaging me is fine of course.

Hang in there shakers, help may just be around the corner!!!!!

Belle you are very brave to have started this thread . I too suffer from tremors and I also have the shaking yes in my head. It is embarrasing especially in public or if I'm around people who don't know me, will ask me 'why are you shaking?' If I get nervous I get them even worse but the people in my life know what's going on and accept it. Just wanted to tell you 'we are not alone sweetgirl' .

Do you have essential tremors? Is it in your family? Do you take anything for it? Is it just in your head? (lol, meaning is it just your head that shakes) Have you heard about this new treatment? (see my original post)

Doesn't it hurt your feelings when people say things? And the thing is, it's not their fault. They don't know it's a disease. Just today i was at a patients house looking over their hospital records and the guy says "OMG it's not good is it, your shaking your head no". Bless his heart, i scared him to death.

Usually, i just say i have the same thing Katheryn Hepburn had and they "get it".

How do you explain it to people? If this is too many questions, pm me. I sorta ramble and i get fascinated when i find someone who has this. It is so very rare!!!!

Not only are you brave, my friend, but strong mentally. It took strength to go with that brave to write and open yourself up here...I adore you

I did notice the head nod, but I didn't care because it is part of you. Look at is as character for the time being. When your doc is ready to rock n roll with you, we'll all be pulling for you on the sidelines.

Now, like June said, no more crying because you are loved for you

it's people like you that help others who can't speak up. not that not speaking up is always a bad thing, ... it's just not every persons thing. some need a nudge. the way to finding cures and helping others, ... takes people like you. thank you.

i remember seeing the infomercial by lucinda basset, years ago, ... about panic attacks. i knew then that i wasn't alone. i later bought her book. she told me that i was special. i carry that with me always.

by posting, you will influence/affect in ways you'll never know. isn't that amazing!
