Tomorrow: half day of work and some craft work.

Well, I up and done it. I went back to another store. I lost 1.5 hours in there. And I don't regret it for one minute!
My pocketbook does though.

The agenda for the rest of the night is to finish the movie I'm watching and tidy up the place before heading to bed.

My son called and invited me to breakfast and who knows where after that. Probably to show me the inside of their house now that they have the keys. The weird thing is J isn't going with us. Which isn't a bad thing, it's just it's unusual since they both have the day off and J really likes going out to breakfast especially at the place we're going. Also we never go out to breakfast this early him and I, not unless we have an out of town medical appointment in which case we just grab some McDonald's before heading out. He sounded worried. Anyhow I'm trying not to read too much into it. Maybe he's just tired. In any case it will be nice to see him and spend a little time together today. Hey maybe the reason he sounds so stressed is they just found out she's pregnant. :)

Reading information about my city’s evaution plan, routes, and procedures. Just read an article on the horrendous fire in Paradise, CA (https://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-camp-fire-deathtrap-20181230-story.html) and we’re in the midst of fire season. I need to know what to do in an evacuation.
I was evacuated from work a few years ago, but that was a neighborhood that was evacuated and not a city. I was worried, but that fire was nothing compared with others here in Cali.
I have two emergency kits, one in the house and one in the car, that are more 5 years old. So I know the contents need updating or replacing. Will do that soon, but today I’m reading about my city’s plans for disasters.

Today's going to be pretty quiet overall.
I slept late, had a lovely breakfast, played with the babies, solved a problem at work and watched a couple shows in the ole DVR already.
Next, I have a couple bank errands to run and I'm toying with running to B&N as they have 75% off holiday stuff. I don't want to deal with the traffic but I'm considering it. I'm also going to call and schedule a chiro appointment and an appointment with my favorite Geek tech as my printer is giving me problems again. It may be time to call it a day as I've had it for many, many years. The scanner still works but I can't print anything, so that's a problem.
After I get home, I'll do a couple loads of laundry and some house chores and start to get back into reorganizing this place. Maybe some TV to relax at the end of the day and I'm going to really try to get a full night's sleep.

I also have a couple of thank you notes I need to write out. I'd picked up a few items for my grandniece, who loves Chicago almost as much as I do, so hopefully I'll find a box to fit them and get that ready to mail out as well.

I will do some things around the apartment to tidy up. I have some laundry to do but will do that over the weekend sometime..it isn't much!

I'm dealing with a check engine light on/inspection due by end of month situation. I drove 100 miles this morning trying to re-set all the sensors but the light stayed on. (I only drive an average of 8 miles a day so every time I have to get my car inspected I have to do a long drive to cycle everything through) Stopped at Autozone to check the code and it's the Catalytic Converter. Went to my mechanic to get a quote. They said they would call me with it. On my way out, one of my regular mechanics was like pssst c'mere. He whispered at me to go get some Cataclean and drive 20 miles, re-fuel, empty my tank driving and come back. He seemed to think that would fix my problem. I really hope it does because the quote was $1,400 and that's not funny. So I've spent a lot of time today driving.
I have now hung up my driving hat. Had a quick workout to get out some angst. It is now time for weekend cooking and cleaning and then time with my spouse tonight.

I hope that works, easy. Every now and then, my tranny starts feeling wonky and I put Lucas' Stops Slips Transmission Fix in and she's good as new. My car's a 2003 and I've driven cross country 3 times, so she's been places and done things.
I'm not sure what year your car is, but if it's more seasoned like mine, keep in mind the catalytic converters can be made with precious metals and are worth something. My coworker replaced hers and found out 2 months later that her car was worth more broke down with the original catalytic converter in it than running with a brand new one it.
To be thread compliant, my agenda is to watch some TV, play online and basically waste time until I get tired and go to bed. Eventually, the cat boxes will be cleaned as well.

I got about a third of my bermuda grass sprayed with my mixture of vinagar, salt and Dawn dish washing lotion. The Dawn makes it stick to the grass. I mowed it short yesterday late. I am killing all my bermuda grass in my yards. It will come back next year. Takes forever to mow the lawns having to sit down every 8 minutes and prop up my legs for a few.
Washed my back brace.
Sat in a chair in the front yard and used my shot gun to do a liitle practice ... shot towards the ground at piles of pinestraw mulch that I raked up over a year ago. I was busy pulling logs out of the woods and would have already been rid of the mulch a little later ... but got the harsh awakening to quit logging. I believe I will be able to go on bag it and haul it to garbage this fall.
My neighbor sent me a photo of a snake she killed today in her front yard. I was hoping to stir up one out of the piles of pine straw mulch with my shots today. I am begging for excitment. Do you hear me? She got her excitment today ... why not me??? LOL!

I turned on the "Deebot" roomba and went out to do yard work. I attacked the spring garden with the electric hedge trimmer. Geraniums were so leggy they were trying to walk away. Down to the ground again. Relocated one of the fragrant lavender's to the back yard. Lipstick sage that the humming birds love, have been weed whacked back to cleanliness. The 15 year old ficus,( I received when I was in the hospital that long ago) looked all straggly, and has a new haircut. Now, after some tea n honey, back out to fill the yard waste container. :tea:

On my agenda today is another visit to the Orthopaedic surgeon to discuss another revision surgery to my right knee (this time). I need to have the plastic/composite (cartilage substitute) disc replaced and some debridement and radiation done to discourage long term bone growth over the prosthetic appliance.
This will be, in the overall scheme of things, my 8th surgery on my knee(s), since 1987.

My agenda got hijacked and re-routed several times in mostly positive ways.
I woke up with a day ahead of me that was mine to decide upon.
I woke up with grief heavy on my chest making it hard to breathe right.
I drank coffee, I showered, I mowed the lawn, I ate half of a sandwich.
I got out on my bike with intentions of a good long ride. But the grief was so heavy on my chest that it was hard to breathe through it so I took the ride I could and told myself I was doing the best I can right now and I cut it short.
I came home and wandered around ADD style trying to decide what chore to do but nothing felt right.
The sun was out and it's beautiful and my mother and I have been having a really hard time deciding what to do for mother's day five weeks after my brother/her son dying. We are both having a really hard time doing anything that is "normal" around other people who don't know what is going on. I called her to see if she wanted to go to a green house to get some flowers and plant some gardens. She told me that she woke up wanting to do a garden with me. An herb garden that we share. (We live down the road from each other) So we did. I got us a really nice rustic barrel and we got basil and cilantro, lavender, and rosemary and thyme and dill and marigolds to keep the bugs away. We planted together. It was healing. It helped today.
I feel a little better now. A few more chores and reading on the porch for me tonight.

Sewing poorly again, I was better at this when I was nine. Argue back and forth with myself, some more, about whether or not I should attempt to bathe Monte myself to save some money. Research carpet cleaners. When I went to hire it out they wanted 70 bucks for just the front room and the hall and this place is dinky. It's only about ½ hours work if even that. And since they'll be ripping out the carpet anyway as part of the remodeling project going on that quote wasn't even for the whole living room, just the main walkways. Budget steam cleaner models are under 130 dollars and Walmart even has one on sale right now for 99 bucks that isn't rated too bad. Or J has a friend I could borrow one from. However then she'll want to do it and I don't want to argue with her about how she's all tough and only pregnant, not disabled. I have to put up berries today before they go bad which will make me think about buying a freezer I can't afford right now. Which will leave me day dreaming and lead to me killing some time researching them online so when the time comes I'll be ready for someday.

My yearly medical exam and blood-work is the main thing on my agenda today. I know the drill-
Doc:"You stink. You are still smoking cigars!"

My doc is locally re-known as a teacher/professor at the university, and as the author of some 666 creepy medical thrillers, I enjoyed reading. The books are about the ramifications of isolating a gene that causes violent behavior. Otherwise, I'll do my best to avoid him like the plague for another year.

Today, we're going on base (Ft. Hood) to pick up some things we need at the PX and Commissary. We'll probably grab a bite to eat while there. They have some pretty good Chinese/Thai short order spots in their food court.
The rest of the day, we're going to be catching up on some chores and yard work that we need to get done before my 9th knee surgery (revison on right knee) on Tuesday. They'll be resurfacing my knee cap, checking the stability of the prosthetic and replacing the plastic disc that's between the two metal prosthetic "ends". This should have been done about 3-5 years ago, but I've been lucky and have gotten some extra long wear out of the original piece. I'll be glad to get that behind me. It *should* be an "easier" surgery than the original total knee replacements I had done in 2007 and 2008. I also weigh significantly less now than I did then, so that should help. :winky:

Today is half over with me not having done much at all. I'm a little sad about that but I really needed the sleep so it was worth it.
Left to do is some color washing. Several coats throughout the day. I think I can start the top coat on this piece Tuesday if everything goes well today. I finally found the perfect combination and the top of the dresser looks like a stormy sky. It wasn't what I imagined initially but it's far more interesting than my original vision.

- attend a "so sorry you're leaving us for another job and don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out" luncheon

detailed the interior of my truck and windexed all windows ... want to wash it today or tomorrow
will be digging fencepost holes on and off ... that is slow work when I have to sit on the ground and use a small hand shovel and go 2 feet deep ... and it is hot as fuck ... oh, can I say that here? LOL!
also want to throw away some things on the back patio, clean it and make the dogs a soft place to lie on ... putting a large powerful fan out there too for them ... they want to be outside with me while I am working but all 3 abort the idea and want to go in when they have only been outside 15 minutes ... it is brutal and I have to really watch Kevie Daniel ... he has that short snoot and could die in this heat ... haul some little logs down the the front to the pile ... plus I cut down an enormous shrub yesterday ... put it on the pile too, else Jeffrey will have it strewn all over the backyard

I woke up at 5:30 to take a bike ride before it was too hot but even at that hour it was already a swamp. So I did a little bit of quiet yard work instead.
Next, went to my credit union for some financial planning and that went very well.
Next ran around in the 100 degree weather - with no air conditioning in my car- going to a few shelters to pick up cots that I took to my work to set up a cooling/sleeping room in our yoga studio, one of the few rooms that has air conditioning. Ran around collecting the most elderly/compromised of the residents and shuffled them down to cool off.
Then was errands to get things to send my daughter a fun package for her birthday, including supplies to bake and decorate a cake and rainbow party napkins and plates.
Now I have a couple more errands and then will hopefully be home for the rest of the day trying to cool off.

Lots of price comparing. I am the child of Jewish parents who grew up in the Depression. Learned to squeeze a penny until it bleeds. lol
2) 45 min.tidy. Apt needs more, but we're building up to that. lol again
3) Order ethnobotanical herbs and roots online
4) Then go to old fogey Bingo at the Senior Center with Partner's mom who is moving out of state soon to live near rich daughter. Yeah! Hope the nosy mom likes this large city. Worried, mom has never lived in a city or even left. wee village for anything other than a nearby doctor's appt.

Hurry up, tonight, and finish a homemade birthday card for my new elderly butch friend, so I can give it to her, tomorrow.
Traffic was so effing horrible today, it took over 3 hours to get home, after being on the 'go' since 4:30 am; and that was by train and bus. I plan to fall into bed and sleep until … whenever I feel like getting up, tomorrow.
Then after I get up, tomorrow, it's a manicure, then get the tires rotated on my car and get an alignment for the car too.
Sunday, I plan on staying in bed.... sleeping. I'm so exhausted I need to get some rest..... even if it's staying in bed, all day long.

I pulled EVERYTHING out of my kitchen cupboards and am cleaning. Actually, I am refocusing what I want to do cooking wise. I'm trying to make my kitchen space more conducive to dietary changes I want to make. I found some really fun turquoise colored glass canning jars and bought what my budget allowed.
I've let go of many items that I have not used in awhile and the rest are sitting in my dinning room. Sigh. I have started collecting stoneware clay pots for cooking. I have a wonderful tangine and now am looking for some smaller clay pieces to cook on the stove-top with. I found some Korean clay pots can withstand temperatures up to 900 degrees. I thought that was impressive.
So far this is my goal:
* more space for making all things herbal
* only ingredients that support my health needs (chocolate stays)
* only cooking pots, machines, gadgets and utensils that I use
* grouping and organizing things for ease of use
* It has to be pretty
SO there we have it, and I notice I am writing involved posts rather that beginning the put it back together phase. Sigh, more coffee, coffee stays.

4. Rejoice and thank the Universe for, happy surprise, nurse supervisor calling to apologize for receptionist screwing up and booking me for exam when insurer will now only pay for gynecology check every two years instead of one - Work still in progress. This joy might last awhile
5. Celebrate being able to get out of these stuffy clothes and into bum around more comfortable ones much sooner than expected due to no longer having to go in and get infiltrated.
6. Re-pack moving boxes in the front room. I was going to re-pack one by one all the stuff in my crummy boxes into the regulation size nice ones they've provided free of charge/are demanding. However it just occurred to me – why. All I have to do is take the already packed full crummy ones, stick them into the much nicer regulation sized ones, tape them closed and voilà! Much, much easier.
7. Have some drunch. This comes when it's too early for dinner, yet way past the time you'd normally have lunch. I've missed breakfast and lunch both and my morning snack plus I haven't had all of my four cups of coffee with half and half yet, just two it's been that busy. I'm famished.
8. Make dessert - lightly sweetened with Truvia whipped cream with mashed up canned fruit, pineapple and mandarin orange segements, folded in.
9. And last but not least, window shop online for nice, affordable things I'll be needing for myself and the grandkids in the new place.

I'm about done! I still have laundry to do and to start the dishwasher but it's already locked and loaded so that's nothing, really. I got up and showered and went to the salon and got a bangin' slightly new do, went to the bank, went to Walmart and then finished up at Stop & Shop and was sorely disappointed that the very same litter that I got at Walmart half an hour earlier was on sale at Stop & Shop and cheaper. Doh!
Neither store had one of my items so I'll be doing a tiny Amazon order before bed as well. I've played with the kitties and have filled their bellies so I'll need to wash their dishes and clean their box and add in the new litter before bed as well as taking out the recycling and maybe the trash too. It's close but not 100% full. We'll see. I've watched some telly and played online (including a new version of Spider Solitaire that's interesting).
I didn't get much sleep last night because I stayed up late watching NCIS reruns (I never get bored with that show) so once that stuff is done, it'll be just the things I normally do before bed and maybe a quick game of laser tag with the kitties and then it will be lights out.

I'm fascinated - how do you make body butter??

I'm fascinated - how do you make body butter??
Here’s a link to a website with a recipe and method that got me started on this.
https://wellnessmama.com/6544/whipped-body-butter/
And here’s what I do...
I weigh and combine the following in a large Pyrex measuring cup:
4 oz raw shea butter (found at Amazon, Walmart, many online vendors)
4 oz raw cocoa butter (found at Amazon, Walmart, many online vendors)
4 oz coconut oil (found at most grocery stores)
4 oz olive oil (found at most grocery stores)
Next I put the Pyrex measuring cup in a large pot of hot water to slowly melt the butters with the oils (the shea and cocoa butters are hard). Once or twice I’ll add hot water to the pot and will stir occasionally until everything is melted.
I let it cool on the counter for 15 minutes once everything is melted, then I put the Pryrex cup in the freezer for about an hour or two till it starts to harden on the perimeter.
After it hardens a bit, I pull it out of the freezer and whip it with an emulsion blender for a few minutes until it’s mixed well. And I put it in plastic containers I bought at Amazon.
I learned how to make soap and lotion but you damn near have to be a chemist to make soap and lotion includes water (which can turn to mold if you don’t use the right ingredients). Body butters are easy-peasy to make.
You can add scented essence oils but I don’t.
The older I get the more dry my skin gets and my skin loves this body butter combination. I use it daily after showering.
I hope you didn’t think I used a body :)

Well this is more involved than I thought but I still might try it. And I'm particularly glad that it doesn't involve any bodies ;)
Thank you so much for writing it all out!!

I've got the most important thing done, which was to spend some quality time with a Geeky friend and look over ole Bessie to make sure she's okay. She passed inspection!
Now, I'm simmering some veggies I got from the reduced produce section of the grocery store and once that cools, I'll put it in the fridge for this week's work lunches.
I've done some dusting...*cough, cough*...but will need to do some more before the day is done. I'll need to vacuum again by day's end with all the little bits of Loki that are flying about.
I'll also need to continue with more household re-organization. That got put on hold but really needs some attending to.

I did it all!
I went to work and accomplished all the things I wanted to there, then I came home and played with the babies, paid a couple of bills, watched a couple of movies and am going to go to bed at a somewhat reasonable hour. Okay, so there's one thing to go but I'm already on the downswing so success is inevitable.

Some dumb-ass from NY woke me up before 8 so my plan of sleeping late shit the bed. I don't feel well so I won't be doing cartwheels and jumping jacks today either so my new plan for the day is to relax until my uterus decides to stop waging war against me and then continue with the slow going process of culling through the home for things to trash or donate or sell. I already played some online games so after I finish up here, I'll get started on that.
