If it weren't got my sweet fur babies I know I wouldnt get through things as well as I do,they just make life better.Today I had another of those back injections this makes two in as many weeks to get the problem places to stop hurting so bad. When I get home from the docs office i'm pretty wiped out, really foggy headed, hungry cause I cant eat for many hours before the procedure...all that together is a wipe out. After my son brings me home and while he gets me settled in,Rowdy and Little Bits, follow him step by setp to make shure he dose it right. After a simi decen't meal I go to bed to sleep the sedative off both of them station themselves in the bed,Rowdy at my head on the other pillow..The Bits at my side so I can touch the bothe of them if I want to.For whatever time I sleep or when I get up and will go back to sleep again they are my angles and shadow.I will aways beleave anamals no mater what kind we love and love us back are more loveing and human than humanity is..We as humans should take many a lesson form our animal friends and family.

I find it amazing how brave my little Obi has become, with a new brother, that is roughly the size of a Shetland pony. Unfortunately, he was never besties with his brother, Chewy. But for some odd reason, this odd dog couple is working wonderfully. They don't even fret about who's toy belongs to who (Obi doesn't want anything to do with slobbery muddy balls. According to him, they are for ruffian type dogs, who don't mind using the yard facilities on rainy days).
Next week, The Chew, will be here all day with us, when the groomer visits, so will see how that plays out. The one short visit he had with Chessie, about a week or so ago, seemed to go quite smoothly, but I really think that is because the fact that dogs of Chessie's size exist, is so alarmingly new to the Lhasa who formerly ruled this household.
Chessie is feeling guilty today, because he had a gigantic accident (85 pound dogs tend to have gigantic accidents) while I was at work today. It seems his bowels are acting up, he has an appointment tomorrow to check how his organs are functioning with the addition of some arthritis medication, so if he's still not feeling great, I can talk to the vet then. Despite his upset rear end, he still wants to play ball for hours on end, so I'm not too worried about him. Currently, he is placing his ball in my lap as I type, and fetching it when it rolls off to the floor.

I started my day in much pain...when I kicked back in recliner, my WooBear grabbed his froggy and jumped up beside me. There was plenty of room for us both, but each time I moved, he pressed up against my legs. He does this when he knows someone isn't feeling good. Once when I thought he was getting too warm, I told him to get down. He did... but sat there "asking " to get back up. When I said "ok".. he used his froggy as a pillow. He's my 15lb guard dog.
I agree ...
He does make life better

for doggies with upset bellies...as recommended by our old vet... a serving of cottage cheese does wonders!!
serving size depends on size of doggie ... For my Lhasa it's 1 or 2 table spoons with his dinner ... for his best friend (100lb chocolate lab) almost a cup with a good high protein dry food.
I've seen this work wonders.

Lynx, my non snuggler has been asking to be scooped up and snuggled off an on all day. She doesn't snuggle much, she just cuddles up and purrs for like, two minutes, max and then she's ready to get down.

Thank you for the suggestion, I haven't heard of that trick! I was thinking maybe a couple of days on boiled chicken with plain rice. That's always worked for Chewy (Lhasa), but Chessie's on a new medication too, so I'll probably see what his vet says about that and its possible connection with his loose caboose...

Oh cool idea for a thread!
M little tiger ed, slept with us all through the night. He always does. He gets up a little before we do, I think because he needs to use the catbox or eat. But right when he hears us get up he comes running back into our bedroom and hops unto the bed and wants me to hold him like a little baby. Then when I am holding him and petting him, he starts to drool! I know lovely, right!?
I am so going to miss him while I am away. He is my baby boy!

This is a great thread. My puppies love to jump on one of the recliners in my living room when we come in from playing outside. Once in a while they both jump at the same to their favorite spots on the chair sending the chair into recline mode. It surprises both of them every time.

Toby, our golden, sat at the end of the bed "talking" to us. I guess he wanted his mommies to wake up and play. :jester:
Shelby, our beagle-mix just went back under the bed to go back to sleep. Snoring. Have you ever hear a dog snore? It's funny as hell.
Now Shea - She is our cross-eyed feline. She's a mouthy one. She jumps on our bed and will meow constantly until she finds the sweet spot of the bed to sleep. Once I get out of the shower, she will jump in there and lick the shower walls. Cats crazy!

Chessie and I had a rough night. He had another accident in my bedroom, then we spent every hour on the hour outside with him looking pitiful in the yard, then he threw up twice on his bedding. Then it was my turn to be sick to my stomach. We slept for a total of 3 hours.
He still wants to eat and play this morning. I am making him chicken and rice right now, and his appointment is at 3:15pm. Hopefully, it is just a bug, but I'm a little worried about the big guy this morning.

Chessie spent the morning at the vet, I couldn't wait for his afternoon appointment, he was just too miserable. They said his blood work is awesome, but he does have a bacteria imbalance in his bowel, so he will be taking an antibiotic and having a probiotic food supplement. The vet said the chicken and rice was the right decision, so he'll be eating that until Saturday, and then starting a Royal Canin senior diet.
The vet and vet techs fell in love with my big boy today, when I came to pick him up he was hamming it up with the women of the office, and they all told me that he is the sweetest dog everrrrrr....:)
I'm really happy it wasn't something more serious!
Edited to add...
While at Petsmart (where Banfield Vets are), I picked up a Chuck It ball launcher, and a glow in the dark ball that is not a tennis ball (something I can wipe off, and keep dry). I took Chessie outside for about ten minutes of play when I got home. He is such a quick study, that as I was sitting here typing, he brought me the Chuck It Stick and then his ball. He intuitively knew that I would use the two together, after ten minutes of watching me use it. My boy is amazing!

Well I have added a new addition to my furry family! I work at a retail store and a stray mama had a litter of four kittens right in between our front doors, behind some shrubbery. I came to work a few days ago to find a little one unable to get back to her, so I rescued him and brought him home.
I named him Burton *im a big Tim Burton fan* he is a beautiful little black and brown stripey kitty.
I was really not sure how he would fit in with my cat at home, Sponge. Sponge is 8 years old now and has been an only child for most of that time. It seems though, that they are going to get a long just fine!
This morning when I woke up, Sponge was curled up in his box and Burton was sprawled across Sponge as if he were a bed. They have really hit it off, and Burton follows Sponge all over the place! Its too cute for words, really.
Burton will have his first vet appointment next week. He is about 4 weeks old and looks to be pretty healthy, has a great appetite and clean ears. Thats half the battle!
He is adjusting just fine, and that makes me happy! They are curling up for bed in the box now...offf I go!

In a corner of the backyard, behind a large stand of day lilies and flox, I've hidden a compost bin of the wire mesh variety. Recently my pup discovered the bin and the myriad of putrid "treats" she can reach if she pokes her nose thru the wires and works at it. Especially when I fail to mix in and cover the new additions to the heap. As of just a few minutes ago said pup has been permanently banned from that corner of the yard and will be monitored closely when headed in that direction. Why you may ask? Well, after a cute as h*ll momentary crinkly cartoon mouth, she forcefully hurled her dinner (and whatever she had reached from the compost bin this afternoon) smack dab in both of my favorite big, wide strappy Aldo leather sandals sitting on the floor by us on the couch. :|
Fortunately 95% of the puke landed inside of the sandals and not on the sofa or rug. And now, after I've cleaned up everything (at rapid fire pace, I might add), she is naturally snuggling and snoozing next to me as if nothing out of the ordinary happened. :doghead:
Shopping for a new pair of sandals is now most definitely on the weekend agenda...

Ginny is our geriatric rattie. She is two and a half years old. Before Greyson went in for heart surgery she stopped eating. I got some baby food to feed her from a spoon while he was in the hospital. I finally took her to the vet a week after his surgery. She has an owie in her mouth and the doctor thought this was causing her not to eat. It is three weeks later and she is still spoon fed on Critical Care for small mammals. She is doing fine. I don't know if she will ever eat regular food again. Her sister, Lemon, is very mad that she gets the yummy food. She is a good sister and loves Ginny and takes good care of her. I love my rattie girls!

After way too much poo (unbalanced bacteria was the diagnosis), and then no poo at all (while eating chicken and rice) for 2 days...I am proud to say that perfect poo was made today by Chessie-pooh...:)
Obi decided that the Chuck It is a back scratcher, and while Chessie chased his glow in the dark ball, Obi took advantage of pets.
Zeus (the bedroom kitteh) ventured out of the bedroom tonight, and then quickly remembered that his rightful place, as reigning monarch, is in mom's comfy bed. Perseus (second oldest of the kitteh crew), has decided to join his amigo in the bedroom, and they have been snuggling and grooming happily for about 3 days now. Though I never intended to have more than one cat in the bedroom with me at a time (a place reserved for the elderly or ill cat), it has actually been quite nice. Zeus is no longer trying to suffocate me at night by sleeping with his belly pressed against my face. That behavior was a nightly war between Zeus and I, with my survival on the line. Now, they both come up separately for pets, and then return quickly to cuddling with each other at the end of the bed.
Our buddy Chewy will be home tomorrow, while the alternate parents are out of town. So, there will officially be a pack of dogs here until Sunday evening. Chewy is the most dominant of my dogs, and has not spent much time with Chessie yet, so I'm planning to grow a pair of eyes in the back of my head tonight, in order to expand my role as pack leader, and have everyone's safety and fun as a top priority for the weekend. Wish us luck! :)
Edited to add...
I just looked over at Chessie, he is snoring away (after a long walk, and hours of ball fetching, while running up and down the long ramp from the deck to my backyard), he has his glow in the dark ball tucked between his paws and his chin is resting on it. Jeeeeeezzzzz, could he be any cuter?

The cats are, as always, curled up in a ball on my daughter's bed. They are a little less squished together than usual, because it's over 90 degrees out.
The dog is flopping from one cool wood floor spot to another with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I'd usually take him for a swim in the river in weather like this but there is a crew race all day and I can't let him out there in that. Maybe tonight when the race is over, even though he'll have cooled off then.

Last night, Perseus made it his nightlong mission to wake me up every 45 minutes or so. The web cam was on, with Gaige snoozing 3000 miles away, and Perseus kept leaping onto the desk, to adjust the position of my external web cam. I haven't asked Gaige yet, but if she had woken up on various occasions, and glanced at the screen, it was likely that at times there were views of the ceiling, desk surface, or floor. When he wasn't performing this service, he was on my chest, making bread...
Not surprisingly, I'm a little tired this morning...

It's been the most bizarre weather here. A week ago it was 36 degrees at sunrise three mornings in a row, then the weather changed drastically to hazy hot and humid. 90 degrees by 5 pm. August weather, not May. Anyhow,
I've had the a/c on and my boi rescue kat has been very upset that I have closed the pet flap on the sliding glass door to the deck. (it's a second story deck with no access
from the ground)
I'm an early riser, up way before the sun. So I feed the furballs when I get up. This morning, no boi kat. I called him and called him. I walked around the house tapping the fork on the side of the fancy feast goblet, NOTHING.
Refusing to pay him any more homage than I did last night when I gave in and opened up the pet door so he could go out onto his deck....(he ran right by me and ignored me) I put the goblet down and let miss over weight eat his in addition to hers.
Well, hours went by, and no Boi sighting. I started getting worried. I feared he hopped off the deck and ran away (passive aggressive little brat) there were no signs of him. I went outside and began looking. This is the city, where do I begin to look? I got on my bicycle and began riding around the neighborhood calling out his name....
in my sweetest of voices.....nothing. I had myself all worked up and half crying. I just knew he wouldn't be able to fend for himself on the streets. This would be a death sentence. I was going to have to go home and make flyers to put on phone polls. I better call the humane society too. (thats where I got him)
I ran into the house and there was the Boi stretched out
across an a/c duct in the livingroom.
*You little Bastard*, I yelled, *Do you want to go back to
the pound?* as I dutifully got his fancy feast goblet and put his breakfast in it. (6 hours later)

Chessie is a very whiny dog. Today, Gaige and I caught him practicing his scales, and then trying on several different pitches. It is very hard to ignore him, but it must be done, because if acknowledged, the whining just keeps going and going like the Energizer Bunny.

My girls have been on a roll to dirve me nuts today, mostly it's been little bit the wild child. She is a cross between a long haired jack russel (her mom) and a poodle +snowzer (her pop) to look at her she is 100% jr to the last hair on her over active body. She is about a year and a half old and has no signs of slowing down cause she is either on the run or looking for someting to get into or passed out asleep on the bed with her big sister Rowdy who is four now.Rowdy is half jack russed and poodle cross but takes after herg pop and looks like a black curly hired poodle Rowdy use to be near and active and still can have days like she was still a puppy. This evening after it got down to a reasonable temp outside we went out and played till all three of us coudnt move or catch a breath...they love to play ball either chaseing, playing soccor with me or crashing my hoops games by doing whatever they can to get hold of the ball,as long as they are happy makes me feel good plus keeps me grounded..I know my life is way better with them cause I spoil them in a good way they give back ten fold what I give to them.

Ricki Racer is a year old now. Does a once feral cat ever give up gnawing? My friend says she looks and acts like she is part Turkish Van
My brand new tennis shoes were in the closet , I bought them Saturdat. Today, I found they have lost the hard tips that came on the ends of the laces.
This morning she wanted in the shower with me. She claws at the shower door, and Yeooowwwws, and soon as I open it she dashes in. The tub is a bit scary, but she climbs in as soon as it is empty.
My little one was named Bunny at first, because she was found on Easter. Then Mickey, as she house that mousehead design on her back. then she raced and still races and races and Mickey bacame Ricki Racer. and that one sticks.
Turkish Van Cat Personality
While you might be drawn to the Van for his fascination with water, you'll fall in love with the breed for his other qualities. 'Vans are energetic, agile, and intelligent. They are extremely healthy and, get along with people swimmingly,' notes one Van owner. You may need a few months of working out to keep up with them, however; Vans are famous for their 'action-packed' temperament. They are talkative, demanding of attention, and show great gusto at dinnertime. Breeders also say that Vans are known for their attachment to their human companions, and sometimes that makes transferring a Van from one household to another difficult. They tend to pick out one or two people in the household, usually the ones that deal with them initially, and bond with them forever

The two rescued kats have lived here 8 months now. I think they consider this home as I have clearly become the servant . Gurl Kat has not lost an ounce, and may have put on a pound or two.
I was in the kitchen making oatmeal waffels on the waffle iron, and she was at my feet in case some fell. I DO NOT FEED HER PEOPLE FOOD, but she's always looking for some. The combination smoke and steam the waffle iron emits set off the smoke detector and it scared the crap out of her. She ran as fast as she could to hide some place.
As I was moving about the kitchen, I noticed a little *something* on the floor near the entrance to the kitchen. Here it was a poop ball! The smoke detector apparently scared the *poop* out of Gurl Kat! LOL!
I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe you had to be here. I wonder if she'll pester for oatmeal waffles again???

Chessie chased his ball under my gigantic, five million pound bed, wedging himself in so tight that he couldn't get out, and only his big head was protruding.
In the rescue efforts, I tried using my usually herculean emergency reserve muscles, in my panic, I used the wrong ones, and now I have a pulled muscle in my back. Chessie is nonplussed and is currently shoving the ball into my lap and whining at an unusually high pitch (I might have been whining and crying along with him, but you'd have to ask Gaige for confirmation). Ouch, just fucking ouch!
Oh, and yes, after I couldn't get up immediately, while laying on my back, I was able to maneuver the mattresses up off of the frame (lifting the weight off of him), using my legs and feet...So, he is free!

Mr. Paco has an interesting life story. He was adopted from a shelter in MA. They found him on the side of the road. He had been hit by a car, and his face was smashed. They had to remove all the teeth on the right side of his face because they couldn't be saved. So when it looks at you it's kind of a weird sneer sometimes. Still bites like he's got all his teeth though, as he regularly demonstrates with love bites.
Bird: Squeak, kiss, squeak, chew, eat, bathe, sleep -- repeat
Fuzzy grey boy dog: Sleep, go outside, pant, sleep
Shaved black girl dog: look for food, sleep, snore, sleep, look for more food, give kisses and snuzzels.
Cute black girl kitty: sleep, sneeze, and sleep more.

Right now, Obi is obsessively licking my leg, and Chessie is trying (succeeding) to get me to gently rough house with him. Last night during the thunderstorm that took down a tree at the other end of my street, the dog was freaked out and inconsolable, running back and forth over my lap. I realized his ThunderShirt was in the truck, which was not under the carport, unfortunately...so I ran out to get it, got drenched in the time it took to open the door...and when I turned around to run back for cover, there's the dog RIGHT by my ankles.
So I ran out in the rain to get his ThunderShirt because I was worried about him, and he ran out in the storm that he was terrified of because he was worried about me. I think maybe we have a co-dependent relationship.
This was a couple of days ago, but it's taken until today to be able to talk about it (she pissed me off!)
I'm on afternoons this week so I decided that I wanted to bring something really yummy for dinner. I went to the grocery store and picked out this really great tenderloin steak. Yes, I shouldn't have but I've been working really hard lately and wanted a treat.
So I cooked this steak to perfection, but had to get it cooled off quickly so I could put it in the container. Now this next part I know was part because it was a stupid idea, but mostly because I didn't watch properly.
I put the steak on a plate and brought it in my room and put it on my bed in front of my fan. I've done it before but put it on my dresser. This time I got lazy.
Maddy got in my room (apparently the door wasn't closed tight) and got on my bed and ate my beautiful tenderloin steak. I could have killed her. I didn't touch her, but she spent a lot of time thinking about it in her cage.

The other day, I was in my buddy chair and a friend was in the loveseat which also reclines. She had a dog treat flashing it around at Skip. I guess we both thought he would jump down and jump up in her chair. NOPE he wagged his tail and got excited all over and literally LAUNCHED from the foot of my chair to hers. LOL OMG we both died laughing at him. I thought he'd need a parachute, but he made a great landing, except one back foot.

Last night, despite the no balls in the bedroom rule, Chessie ate nearly an entire tennis ball. I have no idea where he got it from. He apparently has ball-dar....
Needless to say, he barfed the majority of that onto my bedroom floor this morning, and later, when I thought he was doing his usual whining about not playing ball during every waking moment, he squatted and deposited a pool of liquid onto the carpet in my bedroom. There were little pieces of rubber in that too.
So, he has the runs again, and I have spent the day running him outside, cleaning up accidents, and making him a ton of chicken and rice for the week. His vet is off today, but I have a call in to her, so that she can give us more of the pro-biotic sprinkles for his food.
Obi is enjoying quiet time with the living room cats, and has declined several invitations to join Chessie and I outside, or in the bedroom. Strangely (not), he did appoint himself as kitchen guard while rice and chicken were being cooked, and meat was being pulled off of the bone.
The fattest tiny cat in the house, Oliver, has been attempting to plant himself into every load of warm laundry entering the bedroom today. So far, I'm winning.

Obi, Chessie, and I just came in from the rain. For the first time ever, Chessie had decided it was time to go in. I think he may suspect, like I do, that there is a connection between the scooping up mud in his mouth with the ball, and his reoccurring diarrhea.
When we came in, I dried them both off with a towel, then I laid a towel down next to me on the floor next to the desk. A few minutes ago, I caught movement out of the corner of my eye, and looked over to find Chessie using the towel to wipe his own feet, before he went and laid in his clean bed. I think that is pretty darn awesome!

For weeks, every morning and evening, I have been scouting where the big fish (over five-pounders) hang out in the lagoon here, their eating habits, and schedules in shallow water. I don't have a boat, so I need to catch them in the shallow water. I prefer to fish with my custom made camoflage net with a long pole, instead of a hook anyway. I finially found a good spot two blocks away. I tied dragonfly bait, and waited since daybreak. After a couple of hours, I saw my cat son Larry, walking down the path toward me. He walked all that way, just to see what I was up to. My furkids have never done that before.:| Needless to say, I had to pack up everything pronto, and walk him back home, because some folks use this part of the path for their morning dog jogs, even though there are leash laws here. Sooo.. Larry (Big Nose) the Lion will have to be grounded from now on, during all future fishing expeditions.

My pets tried to tell me that there was a fire in the house!
My poodle Jacques was barking for no reason. I kept shushing him and going back to sleep. Then Bud the cat kept getting in my face no matter how many times I turned away from him. He has never ever done that. Finally, the smoke alarm went off and I went looking.
The microwave had spontaneously started and got so hot it was melting the glass tray inside. It was actually a blazing fire, contained (thank god!) within the microwave. I opened the door to stop the microwave from working and to try to put out the fire. Ultimately, it smothered out once I closed the door of the microwave....
Aside from horrible acrid smoke, no harm done....my pets are heroes...and from now on I will pay better attention when they alert. No matter how tired I am! <3 <3 <3

Paco the :cat: is being especially vocal and needy and stalkery this morning. I suspect it's because he wants more wet food. I TOLD Alex not to get him started on that stuff and now he's craving it. The poor cat only has half the teeth in his head; he needs to keep those nice and strong.
I bet good money that Alex will cave on Friday, when he has to listen to the "Hi!" "I love you!" "I want attention NOW!" squeaks and chirps that Paco does.
I will say that I've never heard a full grown cat squeak and chirp the way he does and it's kind of cute. Don't tell him!

Actually he needs the wet food , most cats don't drink enough water so they get what they need from wet food, mice etc. lol. Don't stop feeding him the dry food either.

I disagree. He doesn't NEED it. He WANTS it. Difference.
Yes, wet food gives cats more water but given very regularly over time it does two things that are unacceptable.
One: it softens and could rot his teeth. The poor guy was ran over by a car and only has half a mouth's worth of teeth left. I'm not taking chances with his remaining chompers.
Two: he gets hooked on it and begs for it. If he gets it more than once in a blue moon, he's looking for it every day. Not. Bloody. Acceptable.
Thankfully, he's not the type for treats and actually usually doesn't like wet food in general but Alex hit the motherload with Meow Mix wet food when we were switching foods to find something that would keep Amber's appetite up. Paco would wait for Amber to finish and then help her clean the saucer.
Tonight, we went hippy style and got our cat high because he hates fireworks and it's the only thing that might remotely chill his ass out. It was working for a while and we had him on the couch, enjoying some loving but a particularly large boom set him off again. If we're lucky, there won't be any puke puddles for us to step in.

My little man, kicks into overdrive, when he finishes his business. He's like a wind up toy. Last night when I let him outside, he found his spot and when he was done he came flying past me and a crumbled up tarp laying in the yard grabbed his front feet and cut him an end over end flip, landing on his back. He never missed a stride, straight to the door.

Because it gets light here at 4 in the morning. My little boy ed, wakes up around then. Two mornings ago, he thought it would be a great idea to sit on my chest of drawers and knock everything I had on it, onto the floor! And this morning he brought a toy from his toy box in the living room down the stars to our bedroom. And then he started to play with it on the bloody bed! So, I took the toy and tossed it into my night stand drawer, yelled at him and tired to go back to sleep. He really wanted his toy back, so he sat on top of my night stand and tried without any luck to open the bloody drawer! My husband slept all through all of this. I really think Ed, is still pissed that I left him alone for the last month.
My cat Leah and I play "catch me chase me" and we have been playing this game for about eight years since she was a kitten.
I usually start off by chasing her then I change directions and she starts chasing me then I hide and she catches me like in hide and seek. It is our favorite game and she usually wins :).
I will post her photo soon, I have a new computer these days with no photos on it.

I was getting out of the car....when I saw Bud the cat....stalking something in the grass near the pool...he was being as stealthy as a 20lb cat can be....but at the same time....he looked...perplexed...and scared. I wasn't sure just what he had his eye on...so I got out of the car and walked over...
He continued his stalking posture...but continued to look unsure....I looked in the grass where he was headed...and found a 4 in piece of black hose (presumably for the pool). I guess he thought it was a snake of some sort...lol poor Bud....

This place is probably meant to be light and fluffy but my bichon frise baby girl, Paisley, died unexpectedly yesterday at 16.5 years old. I loved her so much. She and my other dog were my babies until I had my daughter 3 years ago. I found her dead. I am so sad she died alone. I never wanted for either of them to be alone when they died. That bothers me the most. I held her for a long time and brought her to the vet on my lap. And then held her even longer at the vet office. She will be cremated and I will get her ashes. They made me a card with her paw print.
My other dog, Gloworm, is also 16. He has not been very well, either.
This hurts so much. They have been with me for over 16 years...longer than any romantic partner. They are family. I don't think I ever want to have a dog again.
I just hope when I die that they are there to greet me. I don't know what happens after you die, but that is what I would like and I have told them so.

Our pup too for the past few days that people have been letting off fireworks. She' hasn't been too bad though.
For those that don't know, we have a chi girl pup whose name is babygirl.
We recently moved and she loves to sleep on the top of one of the couches staring out of the patio onto the walkways barking and doing her lil growls at people that go by.
Typically she just lays and sleeps!
yesterday she got a rib bone and she loves to try and hide them ..
Today, she got a comb and it's routine with these damn fleas everywhere. They just jump on her when she goes out. So every time she gets a comb or bath she loves to sleep comfortably and that's what she is doing as I type and has done all afternoon! She also got out while we were washing down the front walkway and went into the grass around the corner went pee and layed in the sun for a few minutes. hehe. One of her pup toys that is a mini pink dog that squeaks made it into our laundry and to the Laundromat with me. Someone found it on the floor and asked if it was mine. lol

Hmmmm... the recliner is threadbare and at least 20 years old (yes, I am serious, I love the thing), so I am not sure that he would get much for it on the open market.
The fork idea though is a possibility.....I have noticed that food has been disappearing from the fridge and I had assumed I had started sleep walking. Perhaps he has figured out how to open the fridge and wants to stab me so that I don't interrupt his eating when I come home from work each day....good thoughts, Gemme!

Yesterday my pup wanted to be near me so much that she tried to push her head thru the wire fence along side of back yard (I was next door in neighbors yard. Granted, as a tiny (runt) puppy she could fit thru said fencing.) It was so endearing. Love.
At the moment she is resting her head on my chest... her morning routine after she has eaten. Prior to eating it is a big mush-as-close-as-possible-to-my-face-fest -- which has everything to do with her getting food and little or nothing to do with love. Still, I Love.
Lately her most adorable new habit is to "shake out" her ears when she is on the verge of doing anything "important" i.e. eat or go on walk. Like her ears need rearranging or something? Love.
Never fails to bring joy to my day. Love. :dog:

The pets...
Chessie will be getting a bath, Glen Garriff will be getting a lion cut, and Obi will be getting a shave & a haircut.
The rest of the kids will be lounging in various somewhat sunlit areas and looking as if life could not possibly be any better. They are likely to pepper this behavior with demands for dinner and petting/headbutting sessions...
Up until recently, Chessie has been having repeated sessions of diarrhea, but I think the vet and I are on track for hopefully keeping this at bay. Poor ox-sized dog just has the most sensitive intestines in the world...
His poop issues, have caused me to do get ready to do something I've been wanting to do for a long time (he destroyed the carpet in his room), so I will be tearing up the carpet in his room, and replacing it with paper bag flooring. I'm really excited about starting that project!
My elderly kitty, Zeus, has had a skin infection that is slowly starting to heal, but not before he lost most of the hair around his nose and eyes :(...But he's taking it in stride, and hasn't complained at all.

We have a new baby kitten, 8 weeks old, and we named him Webster. He was born with some special qualities.....he's disabled, just like us! He only has 2 paws. On his other legs he just has partially formed stumps. He has a couple of pads that tried to develop, but that's about it. He also has a very short crooked tail, only about 2" long. And he is much smaller than other kittens; but he is growing fast! He's the cutest little guy, a mix of tabby, Siamese, and Manx. My big fat four year old Siamese kittyboy made such a nuisance out of himself for over an hour this morning while I tried to sleep by shoving his head into my hands, and when I put them under the blanket he exhibited all of the digging skills of Mike the Steamshovel (childrens book refererence). I made some half hearted scritching along his chin and neck while he bullied me into vigorous scratching along his back and sides. After I finally was able to satisfy his demands, he took half of my pillow and fell to sleep.

A lot of us are kept by our pets, and are not keepers of our motley crews. :)
It is affordable (food, vet care/health insurance, square footage, play things, and affection) for me to have up to 5 rescued cats at a time, two resident dogs (I actually own three, but one of the resident dogs, Obi, & his brother Chewy are shared custody kids), and two small animals (rabbits, rats, or other small creatures). So, I generally do.
I'm lucky enough to have met my animal loving match, in Gaige, who is also an avid rescuer and supporter of animal welfare rights. I frequently encounter folks who say some very rude things to me, about the fact that I have a full house (hoarder/cat lady, you get the picture. Then they wonder why I prefer animals to people most of the time:blink:). Frankly, I feel like the world needs more people like Gaige and I, because there are so many furry children without forever homes.

Chessie is expressing his disappointment with Mom being all over the place cleaning, and not playing ball with him. What he doesn't know is that he is going on his first vacation with me on Wednesday, so I'm not going to let his constant complaining make me feel too bad, while knowing that he has walks on boardwalk/beach ahead of him this week.

At 5 am this morning my cat decided he wanted outside, so I sat on the porch with him and next thing I know he's chasing a large field mouse....behind my chair.........and then chasing it all over outside before he ate it :|. He's a good hunter but does he have to eat what he hunts in front of me:blink:?!
Yuck.
Hi,
today my precious baby kitty helped me change the sheets by rolling around and trying to get me. :) She is so cute.

It doesn't make me sad. It's just hard to diagnose and figure out 'why'. But then, I'm hard to figure out too, so maybe that's why cats and I get along so well. :)

Oskar tried to do "The Do" with Dolly last night, after he's been told repeatedly that there will be NO tadpoles at Casa Theo's........ever. Well, I caught them in the act and poor little Dolly was having no part of it, screaming at Oskar in the loudest voice she could muster, which is not loud at all, compared to Oskar's voice. She even tried to run away from him, but he kept hanging on. She just kept screaming and trying to get away, until I reached in there and pulled him off of her.
Poor little Dolly was frantic and now she appears to be very frightened of Oskar, who seems to be more than a little embarrassed and quite sorry for what he did (or tried to do).

we got one for Gracie our Sheppard mix because she was so nervous around my daughter and goose so wanted to love on her it made a real difference she doesn't run and it seemed to make her more secure. we have also finally gotten one for Phoebe our Whippet because fireworks and our fireplace scares her so bad and she just shakes we got the wrong size for Phoebe at first so be sure you get the right one or it is not effective but at least for our girls who are both rescues they do work very well

Well, these are the landlord's pets, but it is my job to help with them. And I adore them and am now an "auntie". 6 rescue cats. One has adopted me and sleeps with me. Konya.
Tonight, Konya was sleeping on my bed, then decided she needed to cuddle, even though I was totally out. Usually I can pet her a bit, then she goes back to sleep. Tonight, she was having none of it. She was relentless, pawing, kneading, rubbing... I kept trying to go back to sleep but this went on for over half an hour. She woke me up every time I nodded off.
Finally I woke up completely and gave her the full rubdown and face petting and schmoozing, then she flopped into my arms and looked at me like "oh I love you so". You can't get mad at this cat, at 6 years old she looks and acts like the sweetest little kitten...
Then out of nowhere she flew to the door and insisted to go out and run in the moonlight.
This excessive need for attention is not her typical behavior, no idea where the heck this all came from.
I am still laughing about it.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
I let Binkie go outside and when she cried to get back in, I let her stay outside.
Wait for it ...
When Binkie stopped crying, I peeked out the door and there was MiMi kissing Bink.
They both came in ate and fell asleep in a scattering of catnip.

I moved today. Into temporary digs until I find the perfect apartment (no small feat in my area).
Anyway, the cats are just coming out from under the bed after hours. The younger of the two actually ventured out several times and then returned to cower with her buddy. The older stayed under there for hours. Finally she is coming out, grabbing a nosh, visiting the box and even allowing me to scratch her neck -- until she hears an unusual sound -- and then she scoots back under the bed.
Poor kittens.
I am watching an old Sherlock Holmes movie and feeling like everything's strange too. But I won't fit under the bed.

My wife and I got a kitten several years ago, his father was a flame point Siamese, his mother a chocolate point Siamese. Our little kittyboy (he's male, my first male cat) is a HUGE kitten now, he's just been weighed at sixteen pounds. That makes him twice the weight of the female Siamese (kasumi). Anyways when he walks on you, it's not dainty and light, it's painful, and in the mornings the wife has to heave him off the bed because he's sleeping on her chest or belly. From there, the games begin. All cat owners know the game of kill-the-human. It begins with the tripping, the getting up somewhere high and batting at the human, the offering of the tummy that is a trap because you WILL be bitten, the laying on the floor in the path of the human and when the human gets close enough-the cat will attack. Now he doesn't do this to me, I'm not sure why, but the wife is the daily target. Sometimes I lay in bed and laugh myself silly listening to her trying to get to make the coffee as he begins his attacks. While the coffee brews, she goes around and gives all of the parrots fresh food and water, and the cat continues his attacks. All of the cursing would make a sailor blush too. He's so adorable, when she's finally done and sitting down with her coffee, he comes and lays down with me as I fall back to sleep.

It started with a nice quiet evening moment. My guy and I were laying on my bed looking out the window watching the sun set. Beautiful post storm sunset over the river... could have been a painting. Then my daughter came in, and as if she were 4 instead of 14 she grabbed a pillow and crawled up in between us to watch too. Rather sweet. Then the dog invited himself. (100 lb lab) and jumped up and started licking everyone (compulsive licker, he is) and then our laughing and wiggling away got him too excited and he started jumping on everyone and shoving everyone around and eventually he put his nose under me and nudged really hard and pushed me right off of the bed. That surprised him so he fell off the bed right on top of me. :seeingstars: Hard wood floors too, in case you were wondering.

My dog is around 12 (adopted) and has cataracts in both eyes. She tolerates the cat (who likes to sniff the dog's bum when she comes back inside from going to the toilet). Normally Mdm Elderly is a bit wary around HRH The Howler.
This morning, I was late getting up. Mdm Elderly was so excited about breakfast that she accidentally headbutted HRH. It was so unusual I couldn't help but laugh. Of course HRH had to do a swipe at the dog but it never connected and I doubt that Nabiya (my dog) even noticed!
And now the street cat that I've been feeding (and had spayed) is getting so used to Nabiya that she'll flop down beside the dog outside. This alarms Nabiya no end who gets up and walks away. It really is quite funny. :)

Unfortunately for him, he will have to be removed from this warm spot soon, as I am not planning on hunching over uncomfortably like this for very long. today we discovered a litter of 3 kittens! Yes! And they are aout 3 weeks old. One orange, one white, and one tuxedo!
We adopted a lil stray kitty, Teeny Tina, from my daughter, who found her on her front porch. They kitty would not go away, so my daughter took her to the vet, got her shots and made sure she didnt have leukemia. The vet said she wasnt pregnant and wanted her to put on some weight before they spayed her. We took her, and were waiting for our local shelter to run their special on spaying kittens. She is an indoor cat..she is never outside.
So my husband who has the basement as his cave, heard some mewling down there. We have two side rooms in the basement, and upon investigating, found the orange one had fallen out of the nest Momma had made for them. And then he discovered the other two!
Holy moses! Three kitties! Well, they are ALL going to get spayed or neutered when the shelter runs their special ($5 a pound per animal, max $25 for cats)And we are keeping them all. I dont trust what the world would do to them. We have heard there are people who adopt in our area, for medical research. We are also in the middle of a dog fighting ring. And to make matters worse, the police uncovered a man who was adopting small animals to torture. Yeah, they arent going anywhere...

He snuggles up with me when I'm reading and just want to be quiet...today was a rough day..and as soon as I walked in the door he was there eagerly waiting to kiss me...he started playing with his toy and we then went and played ball. Lately we have had some pet kidnaping going on hear, last week in a town not far from hear someone as driveing around the neighborhood then started picking up dogs that were out on the streets and in peoples yards if no one looks like they were home. What got them caught was an abservant neighbor who was walikng her dogs notices the strange car picking up a neingbors pet,she got the licence plate number and discription of the jeep as well as the person driveing even took a picture with her cell phone. She approached the car and demaned the driver to give back the next door neighbors dog. While doing this the police drove up and arrested the theif, all the dogs got back to theire owners by the end of the day.The person who did this is now in the city jail I do hope this isnt the end of it cause the perp should do time for breaking into someones yard to get one of the dogs.Im not shure what the law says about pet naping but I do hope something is done. This has happened to other folks but this is the first time someone got caught.
All the pet owners in my negihbor hood have now organised a watch to hopefuly keep this from happning hear, every one has provided a pictire of theire pets cats included, now all the fences are up graded plus now have looked gates.Locks only keep honest folks honest but its a start.

While looking at the status of the shoes I ordered from Amazon yesterday, it occurred to me that I may need a shoe safe. I have replaced the shoe below two times now, because Obi finds the straps to be magically chewlicious.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41ipkrpxptL._SY395_.jpg
Yes, I realize that I am responsible for the destruction. I know better than to leave them within range of his mouth.
Recently, because Obi is one of two dogs that I share custody of with the ex, I was informed that his step-mother, Allison, had described Obi as a new form of shoe credit card. She says that every time he finds a shoe and destroys it, she gets to utilize the Obi credit card (meaning Hayden's credit card), and buy a new pair of shoes. Apparently, she is not as attached to her shoes as I am.
I think Allison is pretty funny, as long as she does not suggest involving my credit card. :|

A few moments ago, Chessie noticed that his stuffingless fox was on top of the 4 foot high barrister case that my flat screen TV sits on, I just watched in slow motion horror as he stood on his hind legs, tipped the barrister case backwards, and the television crashed upside down onto the floor.
Thankfully the dog, barrister case, and television are all intact. I have no idea why, but they are. I am very grateful. I am also happy to report that I did not suffer a stroke, despite the sinking feeling in my chest and stomach. She has only chewed two things. Computer power cords, and takes the strap off Croc's to chew.
She did chew through my MacBook power cord, and I caught her gnawing on my work laptop while I was working on it at home. She eyed the iPad cord the other night, so now, all computer cords will be covered in Radio Shack cord protector chew proof plastic, AWAY from one power source addicted kitty.

It's 3am in the PNW. 3am. Chessie woke me up, with his endless whining that changes to a higher pitch with every minute that passes without me leaping up out of bed. It took a long time for him to rouse me, because I have had a total of about 6 hours of sleep in the last 72 hours, due to my stomach condition, and my brain probably realized that today is my day off.
Finally, I realized that the non-stop noise was not part of a dream, and I stumbled outside with my boys for an urgent predawn toileting.
No sooner had Chessie entered the yard, when in the pitch black night beside me, I felt him pounce, just as the security light popped on. To my utter horror, I saw that Chessie had a possum in his mouth.
OMD. OMD.
I didn't want either of my dogs hurting another animal, or getting hurt (I've seen possums tear up small animals when I lived in the country, and Obi is not a big boy like Chessie). Somehow, for like the FIRST.TIME.EVER. Chessie got that I was not fucking around, and dropped the animal the second time I told him to "leave it".
When Chessie let it fall out of his mouth, it dropped with a heavy thud. The animal was just lying there motionless, looking for all the world like roadkill. I mean you could not see any breathing going on, at all. Just as my mind kicked into gear, and remembered that it was a possum, and was likely playing "possum", the security light popped back off again.
OMD OMD OMFD.
I started dancing around, screaming, trying to get the light to pop back on because I couldn't see a damn thing. The light popped back on, and the possum was still on its side near my bare feet, but then I could see that he was breathing normally, and was peeking at me from one shiny black eye. The light popped back off again. The dancing and screaming resumed, and when it popped back on again, I saw the long tail of the little critter going underneath my deck. By this time I had both dogs by their collars, Chessie was whining and Obi was snarling at me, and I dragged them both back into the house.
I think I understand now why Chessie keeps getting diarrhea, he is sharing the yard with a wild animal, who likely is the carrier of the bacteria that keeps over blooming in Chessie's bowel. I am really grateful that he listened to me and dropped the possum, and that he has that soft bird dog mouth, and did not hurt the animal. What I am going to do about it, is a mystery at this moment. I do know that I am calling the vet later this morning.
I'm hoping that I will be able to get back to sleep, so that I can think more clearly about it in a few hours.
Hi,
So I was sitting at the computer and my baby kitty (8 years old) was laying next to the computer napping. I heard a smacking sound and looked at the kitty who was sleeping and I noticed that she was making sucking motions with her mouth....haha.

The dog paced a lot, sighed a lot, rolled his eyes at me a lot, and threw his toys at me a lot. We're on day two of day long rain with sever thunder storms. He's out of patience. He follows me around hurling his toys at me when he's bored. Kind of funny... well it's really funny actually. He has pretty good aim. (holds them in his mouth, aims, and tosses)
The cats, well, they slept on my bed, slept on my daughter's bed, followed me around, sat on my desk staring at me while I worked, sat on my daughters desk staring at her while she worked, threw litter around the basement, ate, slept some more.

3 pets were groomed today. I am still amazed, with every visit, that the mobile groomer charges less than Petsmart grooming does for 2 dogs being groomed. He doesn't insist that my cats be sedated for grooming, he does a better job grooming my dogs, and every one of my animals is calm and happy in his hands. When I bring my boys home from Petsmart grooming, they are the ones that could use a sedative, because they are over-the-top stressed out when they come home.

Hi,
my baby kitty has a paper fetish and I have to keep tissues and other paper products out of reach or she will eat them.
Yesterday I had a tissue next to the computer and the kitty was laying close to the computer and then I saw a little paw slowly reach for the tissue so I wrapped may hand around her paw and made her hold my hand for a while. It is not unusual for my kitties to hold my hand they seem to like. Hahaha!
