-i've got a bachelor of fine arts degree and my concentration was glassblowing
-i worked on and off for an organic vegetable farm starting at age 14 and two years ago i moved onto the farm in the cutest cottage (and fully renovated it) and worked there full time. i miss that house so much my heart aches. miss the farm too.
-animals love me. i wish i attracted people the way i do animals!
-i've finally got my dream car- a pickup truck! now it just needs pink flames.
-my house is a better expression of who i am than i actually am from a visual standpoint. it is all the frilly vintage girlness that i don't feel comfortable wearing on a daily basis.

2. I'm addicted to watching movies and collecting dvds
3. driving makes me nervous
4. I can't swim and the thought of water that's above my head scares me.
5. my favorite snacks are chocolate covered espresso beans and butter toffee sunflower kernels.
bonus: I hate football because I don't understand what the hell all the numbers mean.
I don't like texting, but, then again, I was a fuddy-duddy about email, too.
It's hard for me to stop by my ex-husband's house when my kids are there. They take the privileges for granted and seem so spoiled. Or, maybe I'm jealous that I can't give them everything that they (and I) want. Tonight, they're roughing it with me. :) Fish stew and early to bed!
I need financial and legal advice, but I don't trust anyone. (How do you find a good advisor?) I am too often a victim of my own ignorance.
I love a good psychological thriller, but I'm not into the blood and gore slasher or zombie movies. If the supernatural is involved, I have to believe it.
I can imagine living in some type of co-housing community with other lesbians in the future. With the state of the economy and my own modest resources, I can't think of another way to live well and ensure that my needs are met as I get older.

I have an irrational obsession with pistachios
I am telephonically challenged. I can never find my telephones (land line or cell), the batteries seem never to be charged and if I speak to you long enough there's a good chance I'll hang up on you (accidentally of course), but don't worry, I always come back!
I tend to exhibit *alone behaviour* while with friends (read: singing to my dog, humming, rambling etc. as if you aren't there) By the way, I am aware you're there it's just a comfort level thing I believe. *blink*
I fear anything electronic that needs to be assembled, set-up, handled etc.
I must have my latte extra hot. At least 117 degrees or I won't drink it.
If my pup winks at me I always wink back. I fear it may be some secret code and I don't want her to think I don't care (don't judge)!

More Proof I am weird
I compulsively lose lighters. This is very annoying to my nearest and dearest family because I also accidentally pocket other people's lighters when I have lost mine . . . and it is such a huge problem I am the one who catches myself as I do it and give it back. Only have this issue with lighters.
I have a problem steppin on cracks. I played that game waaay too much walking around my concrete neighborhood. I walk funny unless I make myself NOT avoid the cracks.
When I listen to the blues it makes me warm inside. It makes me smile a real smile and puts me in a good mood. It truly makes me happy to listen to it. Reminds me of one of my happiest moments in a dark club in Chicago watching my hero play on stage.
I have an allergy to status based material things. I am that against brand names and wealth implying possessions. It nauseates me to see waste and luxury in this world. I avoid shallow and snobby people for my/their health.
I am losing the battle hanging onto my goldness. Hope is a hard thing to hang onto.

I'm a quiet person and very sensitive to noise, especially loud, harsh or grating speaking voices (parenting was hell!).
I love model trains as well as prefer trains for transportation or taking off in a RV on road trips (hate flying).
My feelings can be hurt too easily (given up on changing this).
I'm very sensitive to heat, I can only shower in tepid water (not good for sharing a shower with!).
I am a recovering agoraphobic and missed a good portion of the primary grades in school due to this.

1. When someone calls me beautiful girl, I always respond back *love the dress* even if I don't say it, my mind fills in rest of the refrain..
2. I am a tea drinker, who drinks coffee... I need my coffee with lots oh creamer and sugar, but I don't need anything to drink tea..
3.I would love to have a used bookstore/small cafe with my home being the top floor, but I have absolutly no *get up and go* to actually do it...
4. At one time in my life, I had 1115 comix books.. most of which were my *pay* for working in a comix book store... It became less fun to work there when I started getting money...
5. For a book to make it into my library, I have to have to want to reread it over and over again... If I only want to read it once, then it get's donated to the thrift store...
I am crazy relentless in getting a wrong--righted....'letting it go' are not a series of words which ever come into play...most of then time, it gets righted !
if I feel that I under-tipped, I will go back the next day, or as soon as I can, and augment the tip...
I have taken to using the self-reminder mantra : "don't be crazy, don't be mad" when I am out in public...it's a helpful reminder...the glitch is that I tend to say it aloud so that people look at me...then I just tell them it's the voices and they nod and walk away...(It's not really voices, it's just a joke)
as time has passed I have worked hard to be able to identify, in the moment, what it is that I'm feeling...it's a good skill...
I am mostly surrounded by people who actually like me, and get me...that seemed to happen at the same time I moved from judging myself negatively to figuring that, since I do the best I am able, I am (intrinsically) alright...it's good

I am kind of a politics, history nerd, so I actually thought some of it was interesting and cool if that makes sense? Yes, my childhood was completely surreal, and I have a difficult time actually understanding it all was real. My parents were horrified, but not enough to just leave.
Pinochet was actually in Chile, but yes the reason we had guards with Uzis at school was because of threats against children of diplomats who went there. There were people who were kidnapped, but the actual "desaparecidos" time was actually a bit later on, after we left Argentina on September 25, 1976 after my mother died unexpectedly. Military juntas were in charge after Estelita (Peron's second wife) was removed from power by the military in early 1976.
There are many people we knew whom we have been unable to reach since things stabilized.

I hate beets and am not a fan of turnips.
I used to hate cats when I was younger, but that was because I was severely allergic to them and couldn't be in the same room with one. My allergies have lightened up as I got older. I'm still allergic, but not enough so as not to own any furballs. I actually love cats. (can you tell?)
I used to own a dwarf bunny named Bugsy. Turned out that both me and my cat was allergic to her so I donated her to a school. She lived a very social and happy life (I checked in quite frequently).
I suffer from sporadic back pain due to spinal taps I used to get on a regular basis. Ever since then, my back has never been the same. I'll only complain about it when it's utterly unbearable.
I love pea soup and Mare's homemade chicken soup. I like soup I can essentially eat with a fork. (More stuff, less broth).

This comment peaks my interest. I love talent. Talent can be so very many things. I was watching something yesterday and became completely engaged with watching the choreography of a music number on a movie... that to me is talent, so is the art work of a five year old who spent an hour making a picture of mommy. That dedication and patience in one so young, that I call talent as well, What is talent to you?

1.) I'm sympatico with elephants. Big time. I'm against freak show/zoo exhibition of such. It's cruel beyond measure. I don't feel bad for people who are trampled by traumatized disoriented enslaved pachyderms.
2.) I sometimes fish "catch and release" for sport even tho I know it is wrong to torment and puncture fish for sport. It's an awful pursuit but I have a nostalgic attraction to fishing and even tho I snip the barbs on my hooks I know it is wrong.
3.) I have no problem dropping live crabs (which I think are beautiful) into boiling water to suffer a horrible death because I like eating them. Sorry crabs. You are too delicious I must boil you alive.
4.) I think I could easily behead and skin a chicken for dinner although I've never done it. Not a cute bantam hen tho. They are too cute. But flesh eaters should "own" it, right? I likes me some chicken.
5.) I disapprove of anyone who murders a spider. Unless it was a black widow or brown hermit or if they were eating it or if there were extenuating circumstances.
*bonus* 6.) I like fur, but only vintage fur. I disapprove of the "fur industry" but think that furs that already exist should be enjoyed. But I approve of new furs created by hunters who eat their prey ( so as not to waste), and the salvaging of furs from roadkill. I like taxidermy created from found sources, but not from murder victims.

* I often laugh at inappropriate times. Funerals, hospitals, weddings, while being fired from a former job. It's not because of a nervous response, it's because I can see the irony in most any situation.
* I'm a terrible singer but have zero issue with doing karaoke in front of most people.
* I'm extremely clumsy and trip and fall or lose my balance often.
* I worked for a major airline for many years and did every position from ticket counter to taxiing the planes to baggage loading to dumping the lav. I loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat if it paid worth a shit.
* While working at the airport, I saw many disturbing things. I once saw a guy back into a spinning propeller and be chopped to bits. I also saw pilots arriving for work drunk. I also discovered a real human turd wrapped in a piece of newspaper, shoved into a seatback pocket.
I think I'll start a thread on the above.

Ok, it's been awhile, so I'll list another 5...
1. Even though I watch a lot of sports, live & on tv, I am more of a fan of the fans. I love the hooplah over the events, more than the actual game (hence, the Superbowl PARTY).
2. Being around water (the beach or the lake) is my happy place. I can let the worries of the day slip away in a sunset over the water.
3. As outgoing as I am, there are times when I completely withdraw from people (even my closests friends). I guess it's like my mind & spirit tell me when it's time to focus on me and just kind of reboot.
4. I have always felt like I was born to be a mother, but the older I get, the more I see that vision start to fade away.
5. I associate different songs to the people in my life. Hearing a simple song on the radio can flash me back to a time & place, and a smile will come from the memories.

When I was in the 4th grade, my mother drug me along with her to one of his concerts. She thought it would be cute for me to go up to the stage, with a handkerchief, and see if he would wipe his sweat on it (yes, that must be one of his groupies "things"). He saw me walk up, he stopped singing, and had security pick me up and put me on the stage. After chit chatting, he asked me if I wanted a kiss ~ and the rest is history. Every woman in the audience was screaming! Crazy I tell you!
2. I have a strange phobia that keeps me from eating chicken on a bone. I don't know where it came from, or when it even started.
3. I work for a construction company, that is actually on a farm. Everyday, I drive up and am greeted by the cows mooing loudly. It makes me smile everytime I see a new baby calf, with wobbly legs, in the pasture.
4. In school, I played the saxophone in the band, for 5 years. I hated it, because I wanted to play the flute. Looking back, I was sooooo much cooler with my sax!

Absence seizures are brief episodes of staring. (Although the name looks like a regular English word, your neurologist may pronounce it ab-SAWNTZ.) Another name for them is petit mal (PET-ee mahl). During the seizure, awareness and responsiveness are impaired. People who have them usually don't realize when they've had one. There is no warning before a seizure, and the person is completely alert immediately afterward.
So basically I blank out sometimes from ten to twenty seconds at a time... During them I cant smell, hear, taste nothing... But after they are over in those seconds I will continue on just like nothng happened.
I can have several "episodes" in a day.. but never longer than 20 seconds.. And usually do it when Im highly stressed... :)

I was born in 1966, so I guess I am a bit more vintage than you.
We just bought a big-flat screen TV and I'm in love with it. The first movie we watched on it was Coraline - in 3D.
I'm very expressive in nature, and in turn, I love to observe expressions on others. An expression is worth a thousand words (sometimes).
I really don't want to be at work today.

2) 1966 was a fantastic year for Mustangs, and apparently for femmes. *wink*
3) I don't know if I've watched a movie on our TV, but I have watched my CSI:NY series on it. And sports looks pretty good on it. *grin*
4) I talk with my hands a lot. My mom used to say that if I had to sit on my hands, I wouldn't be able to express myself. I'm not that bad anymore, but still ...
5) I'm not wanting to work today either. I go in at 3. Boo!

1. I may have accidently picked up the third twilight book while at my parents house.. (It was in their store and I was needing something to read) I was several pages into the book before I recognised the players... I found the book to be childish, angst ridden, and I wanted to shake all three of them more than once... But under that I found a interesting plot... Sigh.. I now have read the next one to find out what happenes.. Years of avoiding the Twilight train gone to waste...
2. I am now borderline obsessed with making flowered hair combs.. My mother is an enabler, as she sent home boxes of crafting supplies with me.. I hope I can sell them, other wise I am going to have a hella lot of flowered hair combs..
3. I have gained 60 lbs in the last 8 months and I dislike my body a great deal. It's hard to feel sexy and powerful when you are not loving your body..
4. I generally have a song playing in the background of my mind...
5. After spending a massive amount of time with people, I reach saturation point.. I don't want to talk, don't want to interact in R/T.. I need to recharge my batteries at this point..
I also have worked hard to avoid the Twi-disease. I've managed to avoid the books and audiobooks of it in my home, but the honking big screen tv blaring it was too much to avoid. Team Jacob here.
It IS hard to feel those things and positive feelings for oneself in general when one is not happy with their body. I know this, oh how I know this!
Music = life. If I didn't have it in my life at the appropriate times, I would not be here. Fact.
I hate people in general, so those who I do actively spend time with and connect with should know that they are the bee's knees and pretty damn special to me.
6. I love Shih Tzu's even though they are hard to potty train (I added this one because the first one wasn't about me)
I know this firsthand. The little ankle biter came to actually PREFER her training pants.

my desk is frighteningly messy (partially because i can't half-clean, i have to make a HUGE production of cleaning and getting every speck of dust and partially b/c i set things down on top of other things. E is organized, which helps keeps us balanced, for realz)
when i worked in SF my co-workers nicknamed me, porcelain doll. i felt really seen.
I don't usually talk to strangers and sometimes even people I know
My nickname in junior hs was the Big E
I'm fairly organized, I enjoy writing things down in a neurotic sort of way--today I started a new work out log....I have many of these
My hair grows too fast
I prefer very cold water without ice

A plane I was on over Bolivia lost power to 2 of it's engines and a third was malfunctioning. (we flew back to Argentina and slept on our luggage till the plane was fixed....eeekkkk....How I miss Pan Am)
I have been in a house where a gas main broke (I woke/saved my family)
Another plane I was on was struck by lightening (the British pilot told us "the plane quite likes being stuck by lightening")

I have my apathetic moments towards the human race as well as warm and fuzzy feelings at times. I suppose it would have been more accurate to say that I loathe the things that humans do to one another and tend to view myself as an outsider looking in to most of them.
My MP3 player is my shield. When I've had too much of some/everyone and/or I need to recharge my energy batteries, I tune in to it and out to the rest of the world.
I have yet to see Zoolander all the way through. I've tried multiple times, but have only actually sat down and watched, in bits and pieces, about 18-20 minutes of it.
There are a LOT of black pups in my life currently.
I'm debating whether to continue to keep my bangs bang-y or to let them grow out so I can sweep them to the side in the fashion that's really popular now. I think I'd look equally good either way.

My house smells like cinnamon and vanilla
I made an extra bedroom into an art studio and LOVE that it's so peaceful up there.
(my father's passing made me think of this: ) When I pass away, I want to be cremated and my ashes placed in tiny itty bitty little cobalt blue jars, sealed tight, and mailed to places all over the world with instructions to place my little jar in a beautiful place...especially on a beach near County Kerry Ireland and in the highlands nearby. My loved ones are to each keep a little jar. (I have soil from my son's gravesite in a tiny little vase... to carry with me no matter where I end up in this world.)
I want to work at a Job Corps to make a positive impact on the students.. because I was in their shoes years ago.

I think being so used to seeing things from multiple angles makes it so much easier to over-analyze things too. People think I'm wishy-washy because I walk my way through 1402 scenarios for one problem and go from this is what I want to do, no this....when in reality, it's me trying to find the best and most appropriate solution....which is not only time-consuming, but emotionally draining. I've been wanting to go bowling for quite some time now. Yeah, I know ... bowling. Thank God I have the Wii.... lol
I used to take fencing classes when I was a kid. Shortly thereafter, my mother didn't think it was a good idea for me to play with swords. So - there went my dream of becoming an assassin. *sigh* :fencing:
Large bodies of water freak me out. I am not usually found swimming in the ocean - but I love being near it. Water soothes me.
Your artistic qualities...gimme. I could really use your talent for my penpal projects.
I doodled in school, but not any more.
I. Love. Bowling. Seriously. I suck like Hoover at it, but I love to do it.
No, you can still be an assassin. Most of them use guns with silencers now. Your dreams of being a swashbuckling pirate ARE over, however. A moment of silence for your dream...
I don't swim well at all, but find water soothing also. I could sit on a beach and watch the waves roll in for hours.
I cut my bangs last night..
Just saying...
Are they cute? Did you post a picture?
Don't tease me this way!

For future reference, Gemme enjoys the Miracle of Whips and especially likes the Light version but usually gets the Free because she doesn't need any more junk in her trunk.
Speaking in third person is fun!
1. I watch All My Children on weekday evenings if I get home from work in time. In fact, I am watching it right now.
2. I do not have any tattoos but have wanted the same two since I was 15 (I am 37). Either a barcode on the back of my neck right underneath the hairline or a certain French phrase on the interior of my right wrist so that I can always see it if needed. I've never gotten them because I was afraid 20 years down the road I would regret them. It appears not to be the case.
3. I cannot be in complete silence unless I am doing therapy. I have to sleep with either a fan or the radio on. I always have to have background noise.
4. I REALLY like lemons. I even have a lemon perfume...smells like lemon drops.
5. I can go for days without talking to anyone. I had a lot of practice as a kid.
My mom got me started on Y&R, since it was *her* show. I picked up AMC when I started working here, because my coworkers were *slightly* obsessed. I don't watch it anymore but can usually figure out what's going on if someone mentions someone's name.
I don't regret getting tattoos, although I would choose different designs if I could go back. Start with the one that would less noticeable and go from there.
The music or tv....it must be on. Background/white noise is required. Ditto!
Citrus scents in general are really nice. I like orange or lemon for cleaning purposes (NOTHING smells better, not even my cute lil scrubbing bubbles) but like fruit scents for perfume. Cucumber melon anyone?
My mouth has always gotten me into a lot of trouble. *sheepish grin*
I enjoy my privacy, sometimes to the point that others may feel excluded, but I think I balance out the various forms of time (me, we, they, us, etc) well in the long run.

I live in my head too.
I have to be in the mood for pure classical but I do enjoy TSO a lot.
There was a news story not too long ago about a girl who 'fell asleep' while getting a tattoo and the tattoo artist decided to 'all on his own' tattoo stars on the left side of her face, around her eye and down her jaw. The ' ' are because she said she didn't want it and the folks at the shop said something else. Anyway, the important thing is that I actually think the stars were pretty. That's the only design I would consider going on my face and only if I had found independent wealth or knew my livelihood would be safe even if I got them.
I like you a little lech-y.

I can spend days and days without talking to anyone. Just being alone and enjoying me time. It comes from being alone during childhood. It is refreshing for me now..
I absolutely have to watch General Hospital daily. I make sure I watch it on Soap Net every weekday.. :)
I do not have any kind of parental instincts. I never wanted kids even growing up.

I need to be alone at regular intervals, if I don't I get squirrely
Loud repetitive noises (like an alarm clock) make me irrationally angry
I can "get shy" for no apparent reason
I work insane hours (7:30am-11:00pm) but only 4 days a week
When my feelings are hurt, I am surprised in a bad way, or in the grip of a strong emotion (probably negative) I become very formal and rely on manners to get me out.

I was in Israel in 1978-79, when the border to Egypt opened up. A personal crisis prevented me from visiting at the time, which I do regret.
I recently came across the profile of someone I knew in grade school and middle school. She was a first class bully to me, and knew how to make my life miserable for several years. Now I see that she is a teacher of some type of spiritual faith. That's interesting.
I am very easily distractable and suspect I might have adult ADD. I will never take medications for this, but it might be helpful to explore some coping and survival strategies.
I'm a pretty smart person and I can enter into just about any intellectual dialogue. But, I have no patience for pretentiousness and the way people can use ideas and words to confound or cause hurt. There is a point when my brain asks for a rest and I'd rather watch TV. There are some really well-written shows on TV these days. Who knew?
Every time my daughter comes up with a trivial fact from her considerable knowledge base, she tells me that she learned it from watching "The Simpsons." Oy.

I think that you could 'use' the roller coaster ride of the hormone influxes to help you become a fantastic assassin. The death of a dream is so disheartening.
I suggest an animated one where a bowler is releasing the ball and tucks his or her leg behind him. That always makes me smile. Of course, one where he or she is holding up their hands in a strike 'in your FACE, loser' formation would be nice too.

I am not as sweet and innocent as people think.
I curse a lot when I am mad. I don't get mad a lot.
I played viola in middle school and high school. First chair all the way through. Was accepted by two music schools for undergrad. Decided I wasn't as passionate about it as it would take to major in it.
I chew a lot of gum when I work. Orbit White Bubblemint. Nothing else. I had to chew Big Red the other day and I almost died. Really, I did.
I love kids but have never wanted to have any, even when I was wee. When I played house or Barbies I was never a mom. My childhood was less than stellar and didn't have a good role-model, so it scares me to death. Despite being told different by children of exs, I don't believe I am good parent material.

I also have the fear of not being a good role model as well as passing some nasty genetic material down the line. Unless something of the dark and horrible variety occurs, a baby will not set up house in my body.
I do, however, believe that you are made of the good parenting material. You bring it to work with you. Now, I honestly believe that if you were a parent and you continued the work you are doing now, that you would find yourself spiritually and emotionally depleted. So, it's good to do one or the other, imo. This way, you touch more lives and create a larger happy ripple.
