Maureen just came home today from her summer job...now we get ready for preparation for Medical School...We don't have too much time left with our kids, but today was wonderful...

Maureen came home at 10 am, and she and I hunkered down in the big bed to watch trashy TV on VH1 and TLC, and she fell asleep around 2-ish...and I stayed awake to listen to her breathe...

Katie popped in and out while busy working on her art, and Doreen got her gear and uniform ready for work...and today I was thankful for this...

At about 11:15 today, in my bedroom, I had two kids, two dogs, the love of my life, and 3 crazy little cats...all under the same roof again.

I don't brag about much, but I will brag about this...I built this. The perfect family. She called me last night from her hotel. As we were getting ready to hang up she got quiet, and I could tell she was crying. I asked her what was wrong. She asked me if I believed that she loved me. In just two short months we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary. I love you is so small, too small, a thing to say for all that I feel.

I am so very proud of the woman that she is, confident and strong in herself....I build things....things that matter today but in 50 years will have evolved to another technology and forgotten.........but her?....... she puts her hands on people and heals them.... not just physically but emotionally too. That is just so amazing to me that someone can do that, called to do it, born to do it. I am in awe of her. She is kind, and gentle, and someone I'd like to be a lot more like.

I remember the first night we really talked. She told me that she had MS and that she didn't normally tell people right away, but she really liked me and that she wanted me to really understand what the future would hold. I knew from the very first day that my heart was going to break. She has been very blessed to have had good health so far. Tomorrow is not promised to us I know. I am thankful for right now, this very second. I would not take a lifetime with someone else in trade for our almost 10 years.

...and here she is worried about whether or not that I know that she loves me.

I am thankful that SS (f) accepts my son and adores him so much and I am THANKFUL that my son accepts SS (f) and I can see how much he likes her. He just turned 13 and you never know what to expect from kids. This, me and another woman, was all new to him. I did tell him prior to my getting deeply involved with SS (f)

I am thankful that they both get along sooooooooo well and that they can hang out together and laugh, play jokes on each other (or gang up on me lol)

I am thankful that we had an amazing summer the 3 of us. Much easier for both SS (f) and my boy to get to really know each other and not just for one week at a time every 3 months.

I am thankful that SS (f) has taken the "plunge" and willing to relocate to be with my son and I.

Tonight i am thankful for many things..but, a couple come to mind right now...

- i am thankful for the opportunity to be in nursing school. It is so humbling to step into the role of a nurse. i feel honoured, actually, to do labs and clinicals which give me the hands on experience with patients and situations we will be dealing with. While many people question my ability to handle the 'messy' moments and 'why' i would want to, i smile and say it is such a privilege to be able to provide that level of care to a patient, for them and their loved ones. i am sincerely loving school - and am often the first to snap on the gloves and give things a try.

- my Daddy, His support & love. When i have moments of 'what have i done' He reminds me i've got this and dusts me off and tosses me back in.. He surrounds me with love and stays present, consistently.. He includes me, always and keeps me up to speed with Our tribe, & of course, Our plans. i'll be moving there soon, We'll be getting married soon, and i'm such a genuinely happy girl, and so appreciative of the being He is, & how He walks..

Since thanksgiving is about a month away I have been thinking of what I'm really thankful for. This year I think I'm more thankful then I have ever been.

Here is a short list of what I have come up with:

1. A loving partner who accepts me and my many faults
2. To be healing after a 2 week stay in the hospital and finding out just how close I was to NOT being here
3. Having a job. Well not just a job but one that once was told I was in the hospital put me on leave and was willing to have me do lite duty till able to do my job again
4. After 7+ years talking to my mother again and telling her that I only wanted her to see me as her child and to please stop calling me by my old name. She has done it since
5. Finding out just how many friends I have and whom I cherish

That i have my somewhat sanity and the days of being lost and confused are over. That gut wrenching "what is going to happen to me" that i have experienced many times will never be again.

if i am cherished or not.

That i am not overworked or overwhelmed. My life is easy, so easy. Even with challenges it's easy!

A network of kind hearted people that are willing to adopt a local family for the holidays because a single Mom with MS and four kids, two of whom are recovering from a bad car accident, needs some help and has nowhere to turn to.

Instead of having a pity party about where I want to be tomorrow and can't because work won't give me Saturday off, so traveling is out of the question. I'm thinking I am thankful for at least having a place to go for the holiday, so I don't have to sit home and sulk about where I can't be. It was nice of a co-worker to invite me for yet another year of Thanksgiving with her family. I get a kick out of her young grandson and miss being around kids sometimes. He's just started walking a couple months ago and I take his little hands in mine and we walk and we walk or at least we did last time he visited me.

I am very thankful I have an open heart again and an energy about me to keep moving in a positive direction.

I'm thankful to have a job, whether it be part time or not.
Work keeps me moving in that positive direction and I'd be bored if I had to sit home.

I'm thankful for my chosen family, some of them know when I need a shout out or a text or a phone call.

remembering just a little ways backwards, i can do more than my heart used to let me do. i'm thankful that i have energy, and i hope that i don't waste too much of it. when i do, maybe it will be counted as good times or learning, ... from here on out. back in june, before the surgery on my heart, ... i told the nurses/doctors that this would be the sweetest heart they've ever seen lol. i flirted with the anesthesiologist right before she did her thing, i don't know if she knew what i was doing or not LOL. we both laughed. since the surgery, i've been angry. i pray that i lose that anger. i'm thankful for every day i get see my momma, and all the rest of my loves. i'm thankful for you all, ... health and happiness to you.

I had an amazing experience with nature today. I went for a little hike before work. I wanted to collect some branches for a nature project...So I was walking down the trail carrying one of these boughs...Out of nowhere a little chickadee flew RIGHT in front of my face! He swooped up into a nearby tree and tweeted at me, doing his curious little head bob that chickadees do..I tweeted back to him...(I do these things..) and he FLEW DOWN from the tree and landed on the bough that I was holding! He sat there less than 2 feet from my face and considered me closely. Then flew off...then came another chickadee...same thing...and flew off...
I was heartily and happily amused by this exchange...and I took the turn into a nearby abandoned orchard. There were even MORE chickadees there. As I stood under one of the ancient apple trees, they continued to take turns landing on the bough I was still holding...chirping at me and such. On a whim, I put my hand up to one of the birds on the branch above me. Sure enough, it came down and landed on my HAND! It clung to my fingers and pecked lightly at my knuckle, then my fingernail. Several of them took turns doing this...it was a truly amazing experience. I did think to take a picture...any of you who know me on Facebook, I'm going to post it there :)
Such a gift....and it's funny because little chickadee was my favorite uncle's nickname for me since I was a wee girl.... :)

my lil rose cottage. She is becoming more and more a home to me and not just a house. I toy with the idea of finding a bigger home but everytime I look at another home on the market, it only comparatively shows me how much nice my home is to any other home.

my sweet doggies. They are so loyal and committed to me. Velcro doggies. And they know I am having a horrible week so they have been sticking even closer to me.

my honey bunny chrissy. he has kept the house up, bought groceries, taken care of the dogs, and worked his full time midnite shift too, while taking care of me while I am down with these medical problems. Not once did he insinuate that I am a hardship to him. I know I can count on him being there with me in the future, no matter how bad off I get medically.

Yes, after 5 days of sheer hell, it just left me while I was sleeping last night. I woke up to feeling pain free. Such a moment of comfort! I laid in bed for an hour, allowing myself to enjoy the absence of pain. I feared if I got up and moved it might come back so i wanted to enjoy it. But it stayed away!

I am still going to take it easy. I have my TENS unit on my legs and am relaxing today.

But I am pain free!!!!!!!!!!!
