Today I'm thankful that things didn't get too out of hand last night with my former best friend. I'm thankful when I threw her out that it did not get ugly. I'm thankful I woke up today and feel that a dark cloud has been "lifted" off my heart and I can see things clearer. I'm thankful we have the finances to help my stepdaughter buy groceries. I'm thankful for another chance.:koolaid:

I'm thankful that I can finally see a certain person's true colors. I have taken off my rose colored glasses and now I see this person for the very first time, and I don't like what I see. I'm thankful somebody upstairs has shown me what I have been needing to see for a long time now.

I'm thankful for my part time job at the dog/cat kennel, and not just for the extra money. But also for my ME time, to help me de-stress and relax my mind. And I'm thankful that I have enough food to eat! I just found out that a friend I don't see too often is kind of struggling financially, so the next time Redners has whole chickens on sale I'm going to pick up some for her. I guess I'm guilty of taking it for granted that we always have plenty of food in the house, and if we want something special at the grocery store, we just go get it. I need to remember that not everyone can do that.......

That our Vet is only 15 minutes from our house. That I'm working less at a job that stresses me and more at a job that relaxes me. That I now have more time with my spouse and my oldest dog as both their health declines. That my faith is strong. That even if I don't have all that I want, I definitely have all that I need.:praying::praying

MY LIFE and the many blessing I've had especially the ones I probably didn't deserve.
In the last 2 months I have reconnected with my besties from childhood, high school and college.
One from the circle, has had difficult times but has done well. She has a few health issues and both her pare,ts have passed. The other one from the circle, has 3 adult children, 3 marriages, lost her parents within 6 months of each other. She has struggled financially her entire adult life, lost her house in the recession and now pays rent 3 times what my house payment is. She's been healthy but is still as man crazy as she was at 15yrs old.
My college peeps, one struggled for years and years raising her kids alone, married someone who got on crack, lost her house then her job. Finally 3 yrs ago found a good guy to marry and has the great life she deserves. Her parents are in their 80's and still campin and riding horse
Another peep owned a store with her husband for 20 yrs and found out that the person who sold them the store didnt actually own it. An heir of the late real owner showed up one day with papers end result the store was closed and the mechanic shop he husband ran in the back was closed and torn down. Then she fought cancer for 3 yrs and now her Mom has cancer and is at home with hospice care.
Spoke with my last peep last night. Her company sold out while she was on vacation they offered the employees to lose their jobs or move to Alabama. She lost her job, then started having health issues, COPD, has oxygen, sleeps with one of those machines, now takes meds for well she calls them happy pills, her husband was out of work for 17 weeks from December.
Though I have had a few speed bumps in my road, I am so thankful to have had a great life, good health, to still have my parents and them basically healthy for their ages. I've been blessed with a great job, great friends and support system when I needed it. And I'm thankful I've had my struggles from time to time as well. My life hasn't been perfect, but I'm thankful I haven't had to struggle with many of the things my peeps have

I'm so thankful that I found a great dentist too, for the family of coworkers I've come to know over the past 2.5 years and for my very close lady friends, here at home and abroad. Moreso, I'm so grateful for life, and that life was relatively trouble free today -- which always brings such pleasure, especially when life isn't always trouble free.

The amazing people that comprise my inner circle. That circle may be small but we're a force to be reckoned with when the situation warrants it.

So grateful for people who take the time to do the right thing!
I lost my eyeglasses yesterday and was in a funk cuz I wouldn't be able see tonight or rent a car on Tuesday and I really like these glasses (tortoise shell, cat eye) and got them for a good deal at Costco and on and on. I went everywhere yesterday looking for them and then went to the same places today and someone turned them in to the lost and found at the hotel I'm at.
That is so cool. They didn't have take the time to do that.
Really thankful for good people.

I am grateful for movies that were created before the year 2000 rolled around. That I had enough foresight to replace my collection of VHS with DVD's as they became available. Yet, to be honest I wish I had held on to some of those tapes but not as much as I wish that I had held onto my vinals.
I am grateful to have lived long enough to see the changes in home entertainment that have occurred. Just as I am grateful to have the knowledge and memories from the older methods used. That because of said experience I can find a good movie to watch or good book to read when everyone else is complaining that nothing is on. Mostly I am grateful for the above on nights like tonight when it is late, I am alone, I need to get out of my head, and a small break from reality just might lead to a good nights sleep.
Now if only I could do something about the length if my posts...lol

Thankful for her good idea, when she saw Mom's discourage when she wasn't finding as nice of gems as was in the bucket she was digging in, she took several nice stones from that bucket and discreetly, slipped them into Mom's bucket at intervals, so Mom was continually interested and excited. If you've never seen a 75 yr old woman, as excited as a child you have not lived

I'm most thankful that about 3+ years ago I walked out one door and through another.
But mostly the second one. You know, I'm saying if the universe demanded a proper hierarchy of gratefulness, that's how it would be arranged. Unless I had to add in all the other unrelated things for which I'm grateful. Then the structure may need to be examined and reconfigured. Except not now; because for this one, brief, shining moment the second part of the first sentence would still be at the very top.

This has been a really tough year on some levels but amazing and magical on others. I am SO grateful for the people in my life who show up, without question or expectation, when I truly need them (and especially when I don't know how to ask for help).
I am grateful that Bella is a happy, healthy pup and has adjusted so well to being an apartment-dwelling couch potato.
I am grateful for the folks I work with who are much more chosen family than coworkers. I've worked with a few of them for more than 8 years and they've been sparkly and consistent.
I am grateful for love, both for my ability to give it to myself and to receive it from others. <3

All year long I am grateful for the beautiful friendship, close and brief, that has crossed my path here over the last 6 years. Those moments that stand out, whether through little reps or long conversations, sometimes just in passing and some ongoing. A much needed laugh, smile, hug, genuine support or inspiration ... or something special in common. The glue that has kept me here, the many posts I have so enjoyed reading, and the positive I continue to gain from being here. To name only a few, as there are many from over the years: Genesis <3, Daniela, Anya, Wrangler, homoe, Nat, Greco, Stone-Butch, JDeere, Jesse, A Spectre, deathbypoem, PaPa, Sleepy ... and the list could go on. These are people who would never know how shy I really am outside of here ... well maybe a few do. :)

I'm thankful for the beauty found in the natural world around me, for the sound of the ocean, for a safe place to live, heat in my house, a car which gets me from A to B, friendships I am growing in my new community, air in my lungs,.....my strength of will to get up each day putting one foot in front of the other as I complete a seeming never ending mountain of "to dos" and that I can feel even when the feelings are hard, unpleasant and at times desired to cease....
My life has taken turns I did not ask for and yet it is my life and still contains beauty and grace....I get to direct my path and maybe, just maybe now that I'm older (sigh yikes small smile) I'll use my wisdom to make choices which will lead me right where I am supposed to be.....

I have a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. I am at the tail end of a two week road trip, reconnecting with East of the Mississippi friends. It could not have gone better. And still one visit to go - I arrive tomorrow.
All my friends are happy and doing well, which am grateful for. And I reconnected with them like we had just seen each other yesterday - except it was a little more intense because it has been a long time and life has happened to us all. A couple of them I saw two years ago, a couple within the last five years, but two very close friends I hadn't seen for ten years. I am not going to let that happen again. The friend on whose doorstep I arrive tomorrow I saw last month, but before that I think it had been three years. I am not going to do that anymore, meaning let so much time pass without seeing those I love. I am still super sad because this is the first big holiday without my mom. It's been a challenging, often difficult year, but there is much to be thankful for:
*I found my niece, and we had a wonderful reunion after 40+ years in March.
*That same trip, with my kids. Even with some squabbling, I'm so glad we did that. It might have been the last time before both of them go off on their own adventures.
*I have great health, even while being well-padded, for my age.
*The opportunity to study something new next year and to realize a long-standing goal
*My home, which is becoming my retreat and my haven
*The gift of being a cook, and food to cook with.
I'm thankful for the failures and things that didn't go well, because I learned so much about myself through them. I learned how strong I really am.
I can't really think of one thing in my life that I'm not thankful for.

I am so very thankful for chosen family, friends and acquaintances. People that are there for me whether it is for lighthearted conversation or when either of us needs support. As I've grown older, I realize more and more the importance of these sacred connections with others.
I am thankful for my life. Blessings and failures, because both are teachers. Good health. Hopes and dreams still to come.

I am spending most every day in gratitude lately. Yesterday was especially beautiful because I was not anxious, nervous, or immersed in a toxic family dynamic. Instead, I spent the day with pleasant people, having pleasant conversation, eating good food.
I then had the privilege of playing limo driver and fulfilling the curiosity of one very adorable gentleman who was dying for a ride in my 300.
A very good day :)

Thankful for the patience my roomie.
Thankful she went black friday shopping with me beginning with waking at 3:30 am to drive an hour before the shopping began.
Thankful for her help in locating different items in a HUGE Bass Pro Shop store.
Thankful for her splitting time with me standing in line at check out. Since my accident, my knees don't let me walk or stand for very long at all.
Thankful she found Skippy some new clothes cheap.
Also thankful for my waitress and store manager at Cracker Barrel.
I am so very thankful for so very many blessings I have had this year.
Every.single.event....has been a "blessing". It has reminded me of humility, made me re think things, & to get out of my element.....
My year has thrown some major curves, but I am still alive, I can still breathe, & I still have my birthday!!! I have chosen family, some really awesome friends, THIS Planet site, & my little dachshund Hope.
I am thankful for the site, close friends, phone calls, & being able to have a roof over my head, food, & all the creature comforts I do enjoy.
Most importantly, I am very thankful for a very dear friend whom is an important part of my life.
My health, being able to support myself, & being able to travel are some of my most thankful things I have.

I am sixty years old now and lately I have realized something ...
Everywhere I ever lived, I never had any sense of belonging. Not once!
Then I bought a very private little modest home on 2.19 acres in the woods last June. For the first time in my life, I am home and belong here. It is such an incredible feeling. I am a thankful person.
I imagine it will take me between 1.5 to 3 years to get all the grounds scraped and rid of the deep rotted pine mulch, to cut and haul as many of the pine trees I can handle alone. But once I complete this first deep cleaning, it won't be so hard and time-consuming to maintain. I look forward to it. :)

Thankful for my new reciprocating saw that made really quick work of cutting down over grown, invasive saplings/bushes so I could clear the back yard and make the goats very happy as they received a huge pile of cuttings. Now maybe I can see from my bedroom to the "meadow" where the deer run in the morning.

I dont even know what that would feel like. I live in one of the nation's highest crime and top murder cities, youngstown Ohio. Our top businesses are crime and drugs and prisons.
I have lived in other areas of the nation where it was really safe but I never felt like the natives there. Once you live with fear, and watch for shadows in the bushes, you never lose that.

I'm grateful to work at a company that encourages me to have good health. I just took a "well-being health assessment" online through my health insurance provider and will be paid $100.00 by my company for completing it. The company gets a break on insurance costs when employees take the online health assessment. And, earlier this year I won a mini iPad by doing a monthly "health challenge." It took me two years to win, but that's two years of monthly health challenges I did, too. Yep, I'm still doing the montly health challenges.
My health has improved during the years I've worked here—in part because of the encouragement from our HR department.

I am sure the EMT's are grateful that my old dog has no teeth! :)
I am most grateful for my 8 yr old granddaughter, who was with me at the time, and remained calm and clear headed enough to call 911, and gather all my medicines for the EMT's. I'm so thankful that even though my butch is chronically ill and she gets a little forgetful at times, she still has her right mind. We just found out that a friend we lost touch with over the years has dementia and is in a nursing home. That was very upsetting to both of us. Years ago we used to go out drinking and dancing with this man and his then partner, and were pretty close.
I'm very grateful that my butch is still pretty sharp mentally and she knows who I am. It would be devastating if she got to the point that she did not recognize me.

I am very thankful for the people in my life who get that I express myself in bold, passionate terms and love me for who I am. You don't get meek and mild with me, and I don't pretend things are all rosy when they aren't either. I'm real and raw baby, and I always will be Me.

That I actually have the cahones to tell someone off and not feel bad about it, to save my own personal and mental health.
Thankful for the many laughs, the many tears & the many memories I will always hold onto......Saying goodbye is never easy but I am eternally thankful for your friendship......
Hope, my little senior dachshund, who is also blind! This is THE sweetest little girl..and her spirit is larger than life! She follows me by "tracking my scent"..and LOVES being able to sleep in my big bed with me at night!!
I adopted her almost a year ago...on the 30th!

Getting some much needed extra sleep and just some time to daydream! I've been staying up all night and literally working until 6 am or later before going to sleep and then only sleeping a short time. I'm too old of a Dawg for those all nighters!
Ah but just laying there daydreaming and knowing I will always continue to pursue my goals and happiness and not let anyone ever drag me down (especially those who have never had one single conversation with me, lol) - that was the best part.
Happy Friday and weekend everyone. I feel good!
p.s. I am also very thankful Bannon is out!

that the nice police officer didn't give a ticket! :fastdraq:
Fridays monsoons caused havoc here. From flooded roads, driveways, yards, basements, few were spared the wrath of Mother Nature.
I am thankful this was not my car.

Thankful that the Chubby Chi just has some sore muscles from her slide down the RV stairs. Perhaps she needs to stop watching me pull the same moves.
Thankful it is nothing that some pain meds and rest should take care of. Hopefully this will get her back to her silly self soon. I was beyond worried about my little chubby D and it hit me right in the guts that she is getting up there in age, she'll be 12 in September.

That I made a mistake.
When I glanced at my ATM receipt, I was furious that there (looked to be) THOUSANDS missing!!!
It ruined my mood but I had to finish my trip to Home Depot...
After getting to the house and sitting down with my bank book, I discovered there was a direct deposit!!! Not withdraw, and my brain had seen the numbers wrong. HAPPY DANCE
I'm thankful I made a mistake and thankful I no longer need to stress.
