Actually now that I think about it....over the next week I challenge all the crushers to do one thing they normally would not do, that takes them out of their comfort zone, and report back what happens. Maybe your crush/soulmate is engaged in something you never thought of doing like a poetry reading/sport/art gallery/volunteer shelter/etc? Also have the brass to go in by yourself. Some of my best friendships (and one or two ex lovers) started with a smile and "Pardon me, is this seat taken?"

Okay, seems my post is lacking a disclaimer and explanation. The guys I mention in my previous post are some of the great catches that are just regular guys, not movie stars, not super models, NOT Fabio (thank gawd), are just normal regular folks that any femme would be proud to call her Life Companion. Since 2007 when I joined the Butch/Femme Community I have had the pleasure of talking to several people here.

They have added to my life in ways that in some cases were life saving. Literally.

Hir insisted that I see a doctor about my leg pain. My Doctor found blood clots in my left leg. Thank you Hir wherever you are, you are my hero.

Musicman was very kind to me when I needed it most, out of the blue he encouraged me to take time to recover and to keep writing my stories.

I am not going to pretend that I have not had my crushes. There have been a few. It's very hard for me to make a long distance relationship work, I have a hard enough time with someone in real time, lol. I'm used to being alone, I may not like it much, but it beats trying to be understood when all you have is a phone and a computer.

Shero is very handsome, funny, but too young for me... but great fantasy material. Loves jazz, risk taker, and a gentle heart.

American Butch is adorable, and has the sweetest smile ever.... incredibly funny, not a mean bone anywhere. Ironically, my exes first choice for his replacement upon Grim Reaper visit.

CS is sweet Irish boy, plays guitar beautifully, very funny, and sexy.... loves homemade coconut candy. Has warm loving family also.

Weather Boi is a music freak genius, and very sweet, He must know all kinds of fabulous stuff about the music world.

Boots13 is very handsome, quite the ladies man (the kind that is respectful), and talented too,.... A real live Action Hero... and modest, imagine that Ladies

Hellboi is deliciously funny, great manners, respectful, and a great story teller.... and the TWINKIE Master....

Ya'll need to understand I am a child of the South. Born in Alabama, reside in Georgia and spent a few years in Memphis. I know my way around a grill and I also know to grill is not the same as to barbecue. I can debate raw charcoal vs. wood chips, dry rub vs. wet (get your minds out of the gutter we are talking food here) as well as a host of other foodie topics. I even did a three year stint on a BBQ team for Memphis in May. I am a purist and I have very strict rules on how I grill and BBQ and don't even come onto my property with a can of lighter fluid or I will snap at you with my tongs.

That said, my grandmother taught me from knee high that to sit down with those you care for in a spirit of thankfulness and love will make any meal, even a crust of bread and water, a feast worthy of any palace.

I can honestly say, I am one who is dented, tarnished and scarred, but continues on. I have hope the one for me will see me, flaws and all, yet still want to be with me. I don't have much to offer, but I have a big heart. For some, not much is a turn around and walk away. For others, it won't matter at all. As much as I'd like to matter to someone, I want the one that being me won't matter at all to them. I have good days and bad days, but don't we all. Most of all, I feel with every fiber of my being.

Well crushers, it's not hard to put the words up, so someone can see where you're at and what you want or are looking for. I am always about getting to know others from the inside out. Looks can fade over time, but what's inside your heart will always be.

I can honestly say, I am one who is dented, tarnished and scarred, but continues on. I have hope the one for me will see me, flaws and all, yet still want to be with me. Ya'll need to understand I am a child of the South. Born in Alabama, reside in Georgia and spent a few years in Memphis. I know my way around a grill and I also know to grill is not the same as to barbecue. I can debate raw charcoal vs. wood chips, dry rub vs. wet (get your minds out of the gutter we are talking food here) as well as a host of other foodie topics. I even did a three year stint on a BBQ team for Memphis in May. I am a purist and I have very strict rules on how I grill and BBQ and don't even come onto my property with a can of lighter fluid or I will snap at you with my tongs.

That said, my grandmother taught me from knee high that to sit down with those you care for in a spirit of thankfulness and love will make any meal, even a crust of bread and water, a feast worthy of any palace.

1. Steaks and brisket (not a huge fan of pork chops)

2. I sympathize on the difficulties in finding a good home for a stray animal so in lieu of that you may make a donation in any amount to any animal shelter of your choice. (I read the T.O.S. and I don't think this is a violation as I am not soliciting anything on my behalf or for a specific agency.)

3. I will post the signage as you requested (DMW that is very sweet of you to stick up for me like that) but the sign will not have "I am not worthy" (I think I have a rather high worth thank you very much) but it will say "JAGG is the Grilling Champion of the Universe and I am not!!!" In reading some of these posts it seems we have several potential cooks (JAGG, Kent, lilapache, SweetBliss...others???). TN. might be doable, Memphis looks to be half-way between Atlanta and Tulsa (probs. why the BFP reunion is in Little Rock.) So maybe somewhere in TN.? The location doesn't fuss me but unlike Mr."Have Tongs will Travel" (<--or was that thongs JAGG?) I prefer to drive to the location as I will be bringing my own fuel/wood chips (no propane for this girl) and my own meat. <---Ok, that sounded very unladylike but I am not about to rely on some rinky-dink supermarket cut of meat. I know one of the last true independent butcher's markets in Ga. and the owner will order and cut to my specs.

First things first and why this thread is here;



Yay!! :cheer: How awesome for you! I imagine if you told us the venue some clothing options would be suggested...folks here don't seem to be suffering from the "shy" gene.




Thank you so much for asking for clarification! It's nice to see someone pay attention to details. I'll also add detailed oriented people make darn good lovers events run smoothly.

So I take it there are two events being discussed? The Cook Off and a Crush Tasting party? I'm confused but for the record this girl promised to offer up steaks and brisket *only* (or at least until I see who is on the Crush Tasting list....)

In reading some of these posts it seems we have several potential cooks (JAGG, Kent, lilapache, SweetBliss...others???). TN. might be doable, Memphis looks to be half-way between Atlanta and Tulsa (probs. why the BFP reunion is in Little Rock.) So maybe somewhere in TN.? The location doesn't fuss me but unlike Mr."Have Tongs will Travel" (<--or was that thongs JAGG?) I prefer to drive to the location as I will be bringing my own fuel/wood chips (no propane for this girl) and my own meat. <---Ok, that sounded very unladylike but I am not about to rely on some rinky-dink supermarket cut of meat. I know one of the last true independent butcher's markets in Ga. and the owner will order and cut to my specs.

The only fly at this cook-off for me is timing. I am one over-scheduled works-full-time-single-mom-scout leader-chick. Perhaps if we could pin down a location then the schedules will fall into place? If we are going to do this then I would like to maximize the number of folks who can attend and watch JAGG pet a cat.. Later in the fall when it is cooler and doesn't but up next to the BFP Reunion might work?

I think it would be awesome if our favorite folks from across the pond could come too! Where are they anyway??? Also, where is Firegal? I owe that one a basket of non-canned, eat over the sink peaches.....

Candy-- Of course there will be vegetarian options! My BFF is one of "your kind" so I know my way around tofu and portabellas, though will not claim expert status on this. If you eat dairy I make a fab 4 cheese (ricotta, mozzarella, goat and parmesan) stuffed grilled pepper dish. Yum-o. Veggies on the grill are the best and while I typically wrap my asparagus in prosciutto we can have a separate grill for non-flesh items. I have a grill basket and several skewers I can bring along.

I wish I could help on the "how do I look older, I appear so young" dilemma but sadly at 47 it is no longer a question I have to ask myself! :seeingstars: If you are doing a casual lunch (outdoor cafe?) and as you have known one another 10 years (If I read that right?) then maybe a nice pair of shorts (not cargo or jean) and a nice button down shirt or polo? It seems from the stores and fashion mags. bright colors/seersucker shirts are coming back in style. But, I'm femme so a sundress and sandals work for me, I'll let others weigh in on the fashion questions. The main thing is to be yourself, relax and have fun! (and if lunch goes well a walk in a park and ice cream cones later wouldn't be amiss....)

You can be in trouble all you want on a first date but Sister Mary Bernadette did a very thorough job of injecting Catholic guilt into my system at an impressionable age. When I no longer cared about the state of my soul she made sure I cared about the state of my knuckles. 3. My schedule is whacked and July and August are out for me. I also want to be respectful of the BFP Reunion. (I would vote Labor Day or the 2nd weekend in October as those are some glorious fall days.) But first a location....

I think a private residence is best so we have access to a kitchen/fridge/etc. As BK mentioned a good brisket could take 6 or more hours. i've never ate zucchini. i don't think i've ever purposely laid eyes on zucchini! but i like to use tongs. every chance i get. so i'll laugh with you LOL.

It is SOO yummy.

I was mainly laughing because my love cut it up, seasoned it, and grilled it and my notion of "helping" was to take it off the grill with tongs.

<------Would TOTALLY lose any portion of the grilling cook off. Maybe I can be like that dog in the vest and walk around keeping all the utensils handy?

...forgot to add that zucchini is yummy when raw, so other than cleaning well just slice and eat. Makes great base for a veggie slaw. It's sweet like candy. Only better of course!

I might actually make it to the reunion after all, so if this cook-off thing isnt too close to the reunion, I'd like to add my name to the list - especially if it is somewhere like TN because I am not far from there any longer :winky:

I wouldnt be able to make a weekend out of it because after leaving my dogs for 4-5 days during the reunion, I would be loathe to leave them again for more than a day; but I can make it for the actual taste-testing-breaking-bread-with-friends day. :)

I think we now have serious cooks from; OK., Ga. (2 folks), TX, TN, IN, a "floater/anytime/anywhere cook," and with Parker now Il. It won't be close to the reunion and we will try and have it centralized. My arm is being twisted for an Arkansas location....stay tuned.
