Trying to figure out how to be invisible. Taking my daughter and her best friend downtown for a cd release show for a band I never heard of. It's a present for my daughter's 16th birthday. I have to go because best friend's mom won't let her go if I don't. They are wearing things you shouldn't be seen in public in :/ least of all with your mom. I was sixteen once so I know lol. Hoping she realizes my gift is actually my complete and utter awkwardness.

They say never try to time the market and I don't. Unfortunately I have some estate things on the move last week and this. My usual response is to treat it like a bear in the woods (< pun intended), be still, be quiet, and it will go away.

There was one position that was set to go today and I was able to stop it, whew!

If you don't need the money to live on right this minute, the downslide really isn't affecting your 401k or the stock in it. The market slide (caused this time primarily by China) will stop, and stocks will begin to rise once again.

As I mentioned before, the people selling now are the everyday investors, and the rich will buy and get richer. Putting your money in a mutual bond sounds safe, but you will be selling at current prices (low), and then moving back to stocks when the prices go up....effectively losing money!

Most people don't obsess about their 401k's...once a quarter is good for rebalancing, or noticing if a stock is/isn't performing well and making changes.

I'm in a motel room in Ottawa Illinois wondering why the dessert included with most "seniors' dinners" is almost always rice pudding.

We were just in Ottawa IL a couple of weeks ago. If you can, eat at BASH burger and sushi house (215 W Jefferson St). It is amazing!

Wondering what to have for breakfast? I'm tempted to go to Swami's (http://www.swamiscafesd.com/index.html). I could have a really nice and healthful breakfast and then off to the mall to walk it off. But, I need to save some money if I'm going to get an iPad. So, maybe I'll make some oatmeal or just green juice it this morning.

I need to start exercising again. Haven't done much of that this summer, but haven't gained any wejght back. It's been nice just maintaining (so much easier to do when I deal with my emotions head on and don't run from them). Still, I feel a bit guilty for not exercising after what I went thru to get the bike I wanted(!), but I'll get over it.

I think I'll just stay in bed for awhile longer.

Wide bloody awake and have been for 2 hours. Finally gave up and got up. My sleep is all screwy for a few weeks beyond my control and I hate it.

About to retrieve my chinsaw ... loaned it to a neighbor this morning ... his wife just called and wanted to say he was finished using it ...
