circus peanut pumpkins... :)

Ingredients
Circus peanuts
Green gumdrops
Granulated sugar
Skewer or toothpick

Instructions
For each pumpkin, cut one circus peanut in half. Cut a small piece from a green gumdrop and trim away the sugar coating so you have a dot of the sticky inside. Use this piece as glue to stick the two halves of the peanut together, bottom to bottom.

Roll the pumpkin in the palms of your hands to make it round. Press lightly; you don't want to compress the candy too much.

Use a skewer or toothpick to poke a hole in the top of the pumpkin and draw lines down the sides. Cut another small piece from the green gumdrop and roll it in granulated sugar, molding it into a slightly conical stem shape with your fingers. Insert the stem into the hole on the top of the pumpkin.

*Laughing* NOT One of my five...but, since I make the most amazing home-made icing EVER, I am appalled that anyone could not like frosting - especially since you can do so many fun things with it!! *G* ;) (also! I am dying to know what was on the t-shirts!!!!)

My five..

I LOVE nature. Just being surrounded by all things nature fills my soul.

I am a photographer..at least in my own mind. My works may never be published, but they will always be on display in my own home :)

I cry too easily for others.

My memory sucks.

I see life as an opportunity to have fun and to grow. I pretty much think if you are doing both of those things, then you have a perfect balance!!

5 Things No One would Know About You From BFP Alone:

On each and every vacation I have been on I try and locate some gardens or parks that have a reflecting pool. I am mesmerized by them. I could sit beside one for hours and simply comtemplate so many things in my head.

My dream job has always been to be an orchestra conductor.

I abhor irresponsible pet owners.

I sometimes stop by one of the old, beautiful churches downtown and quietly sit in the sanctuary and pray.

When my 29 year old daughter comes to me about some of her problems...after listening to her litany of valid issues and I begin to speak - she looks me square in the eyes and states..."I don't need any of your social worker bullshit either, Mom. Just be my Mom." She laughs but sometimes it hurts my heart.

this is a provocative topic... it seems like i share lots of intimate details here... from clit size to favorite candy... but... i admit that it gives me pause to think of what things wouldnt be known about me from here alone...
so... like anything that makes me sorta uncomfortable... i have to kick it in the ass...
here goes nothing...
surface things...

i love to share a kitchen with my mother... that is how we bond lately... cooking or baking all kinds of things that i would never do if i were alone in the kitchen... my mom brings out the best of me...
i love that the internet makes me feel connected... i think the internet is the greatest invention since indoor plumbing and i am damned glad that al gore thought of it :|
i may have a little... way down squashed inside me somewhere... im never going to look too close tho... i would hate it if i found the little guy floundering around inside me...
i am really quite shy... its easy to not be here... and in RL i am pretty adept at forcing myself out of my comfort zone... but... if i could i would hide in a corner somewhere a lot more often...
i wear a 9.5 wide mens shoe... i am currently exploring the idea of whether my stuff needs to grow a little bit to support the size myth...

1. There isn't a day that passes that I don't think about my job and how I could be happier while still earning a livable wage.

2. My anger at the fact that social workers are considered selfish because they want to help people *and* make a decent income is rising to the level of political.

3. I'm getting married to my sweetheart in about a year, and the planning of our big celebration has captured my imagination.

4. Something about my house makes me want to just cuddle into my comfy chair in front of the fireplace and put off...everything.

5. I love cudding and stuff, but please don't tickle me. I can't be responsible for what I might do if there are any sharp objects within reach.

I've done your number one. It's a most excellent adventure and one you won't ever forget! I like the rest of your post too.

Libraries are like language sanctuaries; so quiet and pristine and untouched by vandalism and the ickiness of humanity.

I've given up my cold pizza days though. These days, it is a rarity that any pizza remains after dinner and the evening snack.

I could have fun with teaching the young ones to read. Art's not my forte, but I do love it. Trips to art museums are favorites for me.

My honey laughs at me cuz even when we're laying around the apartment, I match. We place different value on being matchy matchy.

In the 1980's aka swingin' like a pendulum

I played in an orchestra, sang choirs and was in a punk band called "The Ultra Violet Catastrophe"

I had hair down to my ass, literally and I got a Mohawk

I was painfully shy, when I was playing music I could hide behind it and be brave.

I dressed rather preppily and sported a Mohawk and or liberty spikes

I was deeply closeted and I was "known" by my first butch

I think there needs to be a 12 step meeting for people involved with people who qualify for Al Anon but wont go....and I dont mean AA!

I am about to get politically active in my hometown, all over a cat sanctuary that another sanctuary tried to close down..took all their 80+ cats...and euthenized 64 of them...because they had colds. All because the new shelter was getting the donations they use to get. Yes. And I and a few friends are going to do something about it now that the trial is over.

I still havent unpacked all my boxes from moving. My garage is full of stuff that needs to come in the house. I feel very unmotivated to do a damn thing about it...

I spent alot of time over the past week online dealing with a mother whose son committed suicide 8 years ago. They squabbled the last time she saw him and she is convinced she made him do it. Sometimes having a brother who committed suicide comes in handy.

I have made myself a niche into the theater community without having done a single play. I have become friends with one of the evaluators of the local stage productions, whose score helps determine the annual awards. I have opportunities now to go out and see and do things!

1. I applied to be a blogger on a gay wedding and engagement blog site. I hope they pick me.

2. I can't get enough of the baking and cooking competitions on Food Network. Watching them bake spooky gingerbread cakes now. Cute dykes, too.

3. I love freecycle. Just gave away a vampire costume that we got on sale, but it didn't fit my daughter. Rather than return it for the 8 bucks, it was great to give it to someone who could use it.

4. Watching baking shows makes me want cake. Icing is OK, but not the heavy, sickly sweet kind.

5. I prefer lemon and lime flavors over chocolate anything.

1 I love my mom dearest of anyone in this world besides my husbutch, but I feel safest with her when we are on the phone (instead of in person)

2 My favorite bagels are onion, everything, blueberry, garlic, sesame, and raisin. For toppings I enjoy honey walnut cream cheese, chive cream cheese, a pizza style bagel, butter, and hummus. I've been known to butter a bagel and then spread cream cheese on it (but don't tell anyone).

3 My brother and I are both gay submissives. We are my parents' only children. We each live in one-bedroom apartments in NYC with our mates, work as therapists, and share our friends. He is three years younger than me and married to a man from South Africa.

4 I had great fun helping a teacher friend of mine at work compose the following text message to one of our co-workers this weekend: "I never answered your question last night. I can tell you what I don't want. I don't want a boyfriend and i don't need a husband and I don't want a baby and I certainly don't want drama. I like being your flirty friend but I certainly would not say no to a booty call or fwb."

5 At the femme clothing swap this year I found a few items that helped bring out the Medusa in me (because they used to be hers). I would never have known to seek them out on my own. I feel like she opened up a new style to me, making me feel sexy and fierce!

4. Every time I cook in the crock pot, I'm reminded how much I love it. Today was Italian chicken with tomatoes and mushrooms. With whole wheat pasta. The house still smells incredible.

*I once had my legs waxed by a lady who was 75 and known as "clubber gran"; unbeknownst to me she was off her head on 'e' at the time; it was NOT a pleasant experience. I have an aversion to having my legs waxed now.

*I recently became a first-time faerie godmother; in 6 months I will become a first-time auntie. I am in (other people's) bebe bliss.

I believe in being just, and dislike seeing or feeling the unjustness others sometimes scatter around.

I love the idea of radical acceptance, or more simply, living in the now. I work daily to achieve this for myself.

I truly believe there is space aplenty for us all, and that fighting about it makes us feel bunched up.

When I was a kid I preferred fresh lemons or dill pickles over candy.

I admit to having a strong sense of explorer in me, or gypsy as others would say, and am not convinced that there is much in the way of "growing roots" that thrills me.

1. Once a boifriend broke up with me in order to be with a woman named Jenica. I was so jealous and thought, "If only I'd been named Jenica I'd be the unique and special one."

2. Tonight I was at a small dinner party at my brother, Dave, and his husband, Jan's, apartment, and we were having a competition where each person must choose three words to google with quotes around the phrase, and the winner is the one with the fewest number of hits. BUT the catch is that you must get at least one hit or you're out of the game entirely. I won! I chose "blissed out beaver" and a single hit came up (Google if you're curious what it was- it wasn't porn!). My brother came in second with "passion triple sec" (45 hits).

3. I have nighttime insomnia, middle of the night insomnia, and morning insomnia. And that's even with having gone caffeine-free for over 3 years! My mom said I have been like that since I was a baby. My husbutch sleeps like a log. I'm envious!

I ALSO enjoy the colors purple and yellow even had a yellow car once.

When i was younger i rode horses and was in shows, had some trophies but they got lost over the years.

I actually can cook but i just don't enjoy it that much, however lately i do sorta like it... a little.

I eat peanuts a LOT. I got through a jar a week...at least.

I have a "thing" about lines. I like them straight and even. I straighten pictures on the walls of places i shouldn't. I can't have round furniture including tables. Has to be square with nice pointed edges. Even my everyday dishes are square. I was so happy to find them.

2. I'm not afraid of spiders or mice. Or snakes. I'm not fond of rats, though.

3. I love to eat out.

4. Getting manicures is fun, but pedicures are embarassing and uncomfortable (although I have them anyway, from time to time).

5. We have a mole in the basement. I'm trying to catch him in a no-kill trap baited with peanut butter. Unfortunately, it appears that he enjoys the cat food and has established a nest under the water heater. Smart mole.

Beginning in junior high, I taught myself how to ride a skateboard, and later how to build and assemble my own from ordered parts.

I'm learning how to enjoy holidays again.

I let my nursing license go; I was just too burnt out. This after graduating magna cum lade from my bachelor's program.

I tell myself I am not afraid to stand on my own two feet (I've done it before). But then I like the company of others, even if they're just in the house with me and I can hear them.

I can't dance and I would dearly love to learn.

I absolutely adore slow, passionate kissing and can even ignore football for this kind of kissing.

I went into the Army right before Desert Shield, right before Desert Storm started.

I desire so strongly to be held by my lover that I ache when I am not with her.

I love her enough so that she doesn't even have to ask me, I'll rub her feet and legs when she gets off work; it is my pleasure to bring her pleasure.

Actions done for others, out of love for them, can make a daunting task seem easy. Thus, when you're asked if you can watch her daughters again tomorrow (which you find an honor anyway), despite the bickering today, you say, "yes!"

I am a Dexter fan and love to read books about serial killers.

My theory of why women are so drawn to reading about serial killers is that women are taught anger is not an acceptable emotion for our gender. We are taught we cannot/should not carry anger, display it, show it in any fashion. We bottle it up to the point where we are in so much denial about what angers us that in the extremes, 1) we become guilable enough to buy into abuse when its handed to us as love and at its simplest 2) we find it appealing and exciting and intriguing that someone can actually destroy/kill/maim and get away with it (for the most part..after all, to be a serial killer, you had to have killed three or more victims)

I am pretty much over my fetish about pink. I like the color still, for it is the color associated with compassion, but my PINK PINK PINK craze is done

I cant ride a horse well at all...lol. Even tho I am obsessed about them, and could ride like the wind when I was younger, my physical issues and my additional weight distributes and balances me differently now. AND, I had a horrible fall where I severely injured myself so I am scared of being on a horse...but I WILL ride again. It won't matter if I am a failure at it. It is what I desire the most in all my life...to ride again.

I really want to learn how to make soap. And I cant seem to be able to find one person to show or tell me. I could read a book but I learn better if a person helps me. I keep hoping....

I have never been able to appreciate chewing gum. My brain just cannot wrap around the idea. In my entire life I have chewed at the most 20 pieces of gum and did not enjoy any of them. Odd I know.

I do not have trouble sleeping, I just have trouble sleeping during "normal" sleep hours. This likely comes from years of working odd shifts.

I dearly love driving my truck, but may be getting to the point where I could appreciate having a smaller, more economical vehicle...well not quite yet...nearly.

I wish that folks got together more often in person in the community like we did years ago. I miss that.

I'm really easygoing and accepting of most people. But, if someone is really needy in a manipulative way, it turns me off and even makes me angry.

My nephew is marching with his school band in the Rose Bowl Parade. :rrose:

One of my favorite foods is lobster, but I haven't been able to justify the expense of ordering it at a restaurant, so I haven't had it for years. I must get over that, at least once.

We have a mole living in the basement. I tried to catch him with a no-kill trap, but he managed to eat the peanut butter and escape from the trap. We have five cats, but they are afraid of him. From time to time, I hear him chattering at the cats to leave him alone. I probably should catch him and find him a new home....

Hmmm only 5!

I'm equal parts feisty/sassy and sensitive, and though it's difficult to tell which side will show, they're both always there working together to make me a slightly unpredictable girl.

I'm pretty traditional - increasingly so, as my understanding of what I want in life becomes very clear - even though I totally enjoy & value open-mindedness, bucking the system, and outrageousness.

I'm a total nerd in a high femme shell... I'm still the honor roll & debate & choir girl wrapped up in a skirt & smiling, makeup-ed eyes.

I get really excited about the little joys in life - a flirty smile from a stranger, a beautiful noble tree, babies & kids & happy couples in the grocery store, the smell of fresh linens on the bed, ... you know. Small, good things.

I've always been extremely loyal, and still am - but demand to be treated with respect and chivalry. Goodness begets goodness.

(I know I'm breaking the rules with 6) I'm a total ditz sometimes, and I like being teased about it!

I have a running dialog with God most days (and nights).

Good music and vintage wine are becoming a lifeline these days.

Pinot Grigio, aged cheese, Italian bread and grapes have moved to the top of the food chain for me.

I really enjoy "window shopping" on Etsy.

Our house is starting to look more and more like a mountain getaway refuge, and I love it. (I don't mean the snow, I mean the decorating).

My first concert was Seals and Crofts when I was around 13.

I'm not a chocolate lover. I prefer fruit flavors and vanilla, and will take a peach or cherry pie over chocolate cake any day. Of course, if chocolate is the only choice, I'll take that!

1. I watch a LOT of Youtube. Mostly videos on how to do stuff like can jelly, raise chickens and grow veggies.

2. I am fascinated with fresh herbs and thinking about trying my hand again (killed everything last year)

3. The idea of Spring arriving revs up my obsession with all green veggies

4. I don't have enough time to do everything I want...not even CLOSE to enough time so I usually go through cycles of hiding from my to-do list or staying up for days at a time to work down my to-do list. No happy medium there

5. The other night, I had a dream that a baby elephant was trying to pet me with her snotty pink nose.

*I only use manure for growing things in my garden. The soil is horrible. Everything I plant, grows, spreads, and comes back year after year. I have sent some of my clippings to friends in other states where the clippings are growing.

*I dream a lot.

I enjoy wearing my hiking boots, bluejeans and favorite well worn Tshirt ah-hell-of-a-lot better than I like wearing fancy dress/work clothes and uncomfortable dress shoes/boots. (I don't like being told I am a "girl" or I look "femmie".)

I would rather go on a long hiking/camping trip than be locked up in a stuffy old building all day or go shopping.

I miss hiking on Skyline Drive and spending the day next to a secluded waterfall.

I want to get my pilot's license and also learn to teach Tai Chi and Self Defense Classes.

My dream home is a small cabin or Yurt, very secluded and far away from "civilization"....far enough away that the US Mail doesn't even make deliveries. I'd have my pilot's license and a plane or helicopter to go get supplies when I needed to stock up.

I LOVE tangerines. Most fruit I love but especially tangerines

I can never remember jokes. Nor movies. Nor books. I can have a vague notion of what happened but have to watch it all over again to get it. Unless its like the Wizard of Oz...Of course I know what happens!

I am terrified of getting hurt. Always have been. So its stopped me from roller skating, sled riding, swimming, etc. My mother convinced me as a youngster that if I tried any of these things, I would break a leg or something. To this day, I panic if someone tries to get me to try one of these activities. (Yet, I have ridden a horse down the side of a rocky hill, through a rough river and into bellyhigh snow drifts...)

This morning, I woke up in a panic, thinking that I'd left the dog outside last night. I hadn't. But, now I'm wide awake.

I'm noticing a change in my mood as we are getting some of the clutter handled and stuff cleared out of the house. It's a good change.

I think my daughter would rather spend time at her dad's house, now that he lives with his fiancee and her two young children. I understand, but, :(

We have four of the most interesting cats, ever. All so affectionate and funny.

We are so lucky to have great neighbors. One of them was on our roof for several hours last night, chopping ice and pushing off tons of snow. We sent pizza (to his house, not the roof).

I write really creepy stories that would probably make you not want to talk to me. Seriously. I rarely let anyone see them. I have had a few of them published in tiny obscure publications. I didnt even get paid. Under a different name. Dont ask. I wont share. I started this type of writing after reading a Steven King book about writing. I went deep and dark and these came out.

I often wonder why we have so few cemetaries when so many people have died over the years. Think about it. Seriously. Just in the past five years, in our country, the number of deaths that have occurred would have filled how many graves in already existing cemetaries? If our populations are aging and more people are dying, why are we building homes at a faster rate than we are developing new cemetaries? And where are the cemetaries for the people from a hundred years ago? two hundred?

@Softness-good question. Probably, many have been lost to urban development or simply overgrown. Most cemeteries were one or two families, very small. The huge garden creations came about only around the turn of the last century (Forest Lawn,Spring Grove, etc.). Preservation and maintenance began when cemeteries became almost another city park, except with people buried in it.

1. This one's pretty obvious-I love cemeteries, and they don't squick me out at all. I'd be a celebrity grave hunter, if I lived in a celebrity town, but I don't want to disrespect their resting places, either.

I would have a field day (no pun intended) in the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn alone, but it is closed up tight.

2. I can sight-read music; sometimes play a tune just by ear.

3. I can somewhat read Russian; speaking and actually forming sentences is another story. I like to teach myself languages for fun.

4. Crime and Punishment might be my favorite book. (No, I don't read that in Russian :P)

5. I love true-crime books. I always need a collection of Ann Rule for airplane rides.

.... on the cemetery thing ... shortly after I moved here, Mare and I decided to have lunch at a local cemetery. In fact, we've visited just about every one in the area - most of them date back to the 1700-1800's. We enjoy (what most people would consider) creepy things.

Lately, my dreams have been very bizarre and very busy. I've been waking up exhausted (and confused) because of it.

I am noticing that my typing has consisted of more typos. Thank God for the backspace button - and yes, it's concerning me a bit. I just realized that my typo issue might be because Max likes to jump on my keyboard and then sit in front of the light source blocking my view of the keyboard. :/

I don't see cemetaries as creepy (unless it's pitch black and there's creepy 'someone's coming to get you' music playing in the background). I think that's because of two things. One, I'm not afraid of death at all. Two, I find the living substantially more fearful than the dead.

I used to live down the road from a small, country cemetary and loved going down there to get away from the typical rotten childhood.

I think more people are choosing to be cremated nowadays than be buried. I am one of those people.

Then again, there's those funeral homes that have been charged with putting multiple corpses in one grave and/or selling the corpses' parts off without the family's notice.

I'm more worried about future generations than the past, though I think before we, as a nation and as humans, can progress, we have to look back and learn from the work of our ancestors.

I use to get lost in stores as a child, quite often. I remember this vividly. I cant imagine letting my own child wander off like my mum did me. I could always find my mum by her cough. She had sinus drip and it made her cough all the time so I would race around the store until I heard her nagging cough.

I have been getting some pretty bad head aches. I tell them to take a number and wait in line with all the other problems..lol

Dill pickle lovers, unite!!!! Claussens are my favorite.

I haven't had a decent, home-fried fried pickle in a loooong time. I was probably about 11. THIS (http://www.threadgills.com/) place has fried pickles, but it's the spear and I prefer the hamburger cut type.

I have had their fried green tomatoes and they are really good.

I haven't had fried ice cream since I moved to Texas. Something feels wrong about that.

I had some sweets and now I feel sleepy. Sugar never used to to affect me but now that I've significantly cut down on it, it makes me tired.

I have always wanted a white leather wallet and never bought one for myself. I guess I thought it was frivilous to want something that would get scuffed so easily.

I dont normally do that (the above) I indulge myself of the things i want when I can afford them. I remember opening up my mother cupboards and seeing all the clothes we had purchased her for holidays, that she never wore, because she was saving for special occassions. Since losing 23 lbs (so far) I no longer have pain in my hip and I don't feel incredibly tired in the mid-afternoon.

On the subject of pickles, my favorite are the kosher garlic pickles that you used to be able to buy in barrels in the deli section.

Last night I dreamt that I was hanging out with two friends from high school (who I haven't seen in decades, but are Facebook friends). They were engrossed in a college football game that was on TV, and were kind of cuddling on the couch. I was feeling a little left out because there was no room for me on the couch. I took off my coat and realized that I had accidentally taken my pants off (!!!). I got really upset when I noticed this, and blamed it on dementia. I blame Facebook....

I just got in touch with a woman who makes bouquets out of vintage brooches and other jewelry. She's going to make bouquets for my daughters and me, for our commitment ceremony. She'll incorporate brooches that I'm going to send her that belonged to my grandmother and Candy's mom. I'm so excited!

I belong to a book club. We meet every month for dinner, but we usually haven't read the book. It's an excuse for old work buddies to get together.

2. i grew up putting my heart into music as a child..it was an escape from my reality - i sang in a choir, which led to a local television show for a couple of years, which led to playing violin & changing styles to fiddle, a little piano, and finally learning some mean harmonica skills from my Pepere to boot..i wish i kept up with it all.. i would like to learn acoustic guitar though.. maybe that's something i will do this year =)

3. i am petit mal epileptic.. (no seizures) just dizzy spells & headaches, depending on how well i take care of myself.. i choose to not take medication for it..and am not ashamed to say i have epilepsy anymore.. it's something i was made fun of for, all through life..

4. i still have my raggedy ann doll i got from my godmother (RIP) back when i was 2 years old.. my poor raggedy ann doll has seen better days.. she barely has hair, has holes through her face, has holes beneath the arms, tummy and even the crotch LOL.. oh and she's blown a foot off somehow, and losing the 2nd one.. i still display her proudly though, she sits on the corner of my makeup bureau cuz she's pretty darn special to me... despite her "scars" she's beautiful to me! =)

5. as a child, i tormented my stepsister (and she still loves me, go figure).. i concocted a scheme that i found a picture of a dirty looking yak in a national geographic magazine, it was scary looking to us, and named him Cat Man.. (dont ask lol) .. and told her that *points to magazine* that is Cat Man and when you are sleeping at night, he sneaks into your room so you have to be careful he doesn't get you! i would even sneak into her room and write messages on her chalkboard from Cat Man for when she woke up and would tell her that he hates when she doesn't do chores or share her treats (she would share all her treats with me and help me do MY chores LOLOL...) When my stepsister got married years later, during her reception dinner , it got mentioned and i was sooo embarrassed that she even remembered it LOL funny things we do as small children...

When I don't get invited to a party (any party), I feel hurt and left out--even parties of neighbors who I don't know very well. Being included is a thing of mine, leftover issues from junior high.

I walked past my cat this evening and she high-fived me.

There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't feel incredibly lucky and grateful for my family, love, job, and home. And, I believe that gratitude is the key to happiness.

My honey already started showering me with Valentine goodies. So far, chocolate covered strawberries and fancy caramel and chocolate covered apples, new pillows, a cool organizer for my car, and a bus day trip to Boston in March. Tomorrow is dinner out and a movie. I'm such a lucky girl.

I always get so surprised when someone, otherwise intelligent and worldly, expresses bigotry. It happened today, when a client was telling an interesting story about his life, and all of a sudden, I heard, "...and it was because of the Jews." I was trying to keep my professional hat on my head, but I felt like crying.

I enjoy whittling cartoon characters out of parsnips.

I like to read out loud in a british accent.

When I was a kid I told my mom I wasn’t the “clean up type.”

I have a dent in my head. My mom says it's because the doctor used forceps to get me out when i was born. You can't see it because of my hair. The weirdest thing is that I tell people about it and ask them to touch it.

I went to summer camp for the first time at the age of seven. I packed my own bag, but I forgot to bring underwear, a jacket, or a comb. The staff gave me what I needed out of the "lost and found".

I weigh more than my father.

As a fourth-grader, I rolled a piece of Scotch tape backwards, put it on the end of a pencil, and stuck it in my left ear. When I couldn’t get it out, I told my teacher I had an earache so she would let me go to the school nurse. The blind school nurse looked in my ear, but saw nothing unusual, so life went on. A year or so later, my pediatrician noticed some type of foreign object lodged in my left ear and irrigated the hell out of it until — big surprise coming in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .a rolled piece of Scotch tape fell out.

I really think that Larry King is an alien sent here to do weird experiments on us, like erasing our ability to think.

I usually narrate my driving, even when I’m alone, for example; “I’m gonna turn left now, here we go”; “Oooh look, a Golden Retriever!”; “Hey, there’s Jessica, I should call her!”

I am most at peace when I am cutting up paper, whether it be books or magazines or whatever.

In my relationships of any type, honor is paramount.

I work counseling children in a windowless office, and thus farts are particularly devastating.

I had to bow out of being a bridesmaid recently because the required dress didn't fit me (form-fitting tight red, long dress!). I was quickly replaced by someone with the perfect body for it, and it kinda hurt.

1) I did not go to my college graduation because my parents didn't want to go and sit out in the middle of a field under the hot, summer sun. They said nobody really remembers their college graduation and it's all just pomp and circumstance (sp?) anyway. I regret that I let their underwhelming behavior towards what I feel is a very big accomplishment influence my decision to skip out on what should've been a happy, proud, and memorable day/moment for me.

2) I am scent sensitive and if I ever buy fashion magazines, the first thing I do is rip the perfume samples out and get rid of them as fast as possible. I do this at the doctor's office, too. I resist the temptation at friend's homes.

3) I can't think of 5 things.

-♦- I'm not much of a morning person, however, a cuppa café con leche with pan soba'o con mantequilla, and I'm content...add a small slice of queso de papa or ham....maybe both, at sunrise? My day will be made.

-♦- I'm not scared of bee's...or hornets..or wasps...or blackjacks, yellow jackets, etc etc. I'm petrified of their Venom, not because I'm some "pussy", I'm just not fond of anaphylactic shock, y'know? And I don't have an epi pen, so there's that...

-♦- I love motorcycles, but, I also like being comfortable, and I can't see myself being comfortable on a chopper, cruisin' around at 55 mph, in the dead of December...or January [in the continental U.S.], so, I wouldn't mind a good Jeep or VW of my choice...seriously.

-♦- When everyone's asleep..And I can't, rather than log on, or watch t.v., I'll sit by the Ferrets penthouse, and pat my side, have the Husky grudgingly trot over, and lay by my side, while I talk to them, the husky will rest his head on my lap and the ferrets will grant me a seriously bored glance from their hammock with a tired yawn....until I flash a treat{spoiled, i tell ya}, it's 10 x better than a Shrink, though.

Currently, I am eating what I call a Hulk muffin. It's huge, of course, dusted with big crystals of sugar and green. Pistachio muffins. HEB. Heavenly, I promise (unless you're allergic to pistachios and then it wouldn't be so....well, yeah, I guess you could say it would be Heavenly...if you've been good).

I tried the new Reese's minis that come in a little zip bag and are unwrapped. They are good but the bag is too small. It needs to be 4 times bigger, because...c'mon...if I want it so bad that I'm choosing the minis cuz I wouldn't have to waste time or chocolate on the wrappers, I want more than 8 ounces worth. Just sayin'.

Ebon loves me (and his life) very much. He didn't bat an eye as I filled a quarter of our grocery cart with junk last night. The remaining three quarters had all organic and/or generally healthy stuff in it. The cashier looked at me funny.

We met someone this weekend that knew quite a bit about American versus everyone else's way of producing milk and dairy products. We learned that our milk and cheeses in the US contain small amounts of puss in them. We are going to purchase organic milk and European cheeses from now on.

We learned about the cheese/milk fiasco while we were eating sushi. I don't have a weak stomach, but it did give me about a 10 second pause before I could finish my crunchy roll.

Bonus: I bought 2 packages of Mother's Macaroon cookies last night. They were on sale and I had a store coupon and so, I got them for more than half off! Happy cheap shopper dance!

My two favorite shows are "House" and "TAPS" and i tape them all the time and watch them over and over and over. Recently i've added "Sister Wives" to my most fav list and love that show too.

I hate to sleep. Always been that way. I feel like i'll miss out on something and to this day i usually have to be made to go to bed or i finally just fall over from being dead tired.

I, too, feel like I'm missing something or at least the opportunity to be doing something. However, I enjoy sleep far too much now. I think it's because I slept so little as a kid (mostly because of the whole abusive household and having to keep the nasties out of my bed thing versus the didn't want to miss anything thing though).

I've climbed a tree and I've touched chickens and goats. I like goats. Their pupils are sideways and that's kinda cool. You come here. I'll take you to the small rescue zoo. They have chickens and goats and even peacocks and a random orange cat that patrols the property. :)

House is awesome. I missed the season finale last night though. Ebon and I were watching what amounted to the worst movie we've ever seen. Well, technically it ties with Punch Drunk Love for the worst movie ever. It's called Backwash.

No fifth since I did a bonus last time.

I am selectively Monk-like and am obsessed with symmetry.

When I was a child, I used to think if you took the "sleep" out of your eyes, you had to get up, because you couldn't fall back to sleep.

I have never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

My first concert was Tom Jones (I wish I were kidding).

I have to sleep with a fan on...no matter what season.

Flip flops ARE the official shoes of Florida and Texas. You're just doing your state proud.

I've been completely lonely in a room with over a hundred people before. It's a very heavy feeling that I don't wish on anyone.

I, however, thoroughly enjoy being alone, so I understand.

We met someone this weekend that knew quite a bit about American versus everyone else's way of producing milk and dairy products. We learned that our milk and cheeses in the US contain small amounts of puss in them. We are going to purchase organic milk and European cheeses from now on.

Small amounts of what????

Gemme

Small amounts of what????

Oooops. Spelling snafu. Pus. From cysts that form in the udders as a result of mastitis. The farmers give the cows growth horomones and they cows get milked lots and they are most often pregnant and between the pregnancies and the milking, some cows get infections. There are actually rules defining how much can and cannot get in the milk for it to still be accepted and shipped out.

I found this on Google Answers.

Now, as for the “pus” finding its way into the milk ---

The milk collected from the cows is stored on the farm in a bulk tank.
The dairy farmer and inspectors routinely check this milk for
contamination before it is shipped out to be pasteurized for sale. If
it does not pass the test, it does not go out!

The contamination of the milk is measured in terms of the SCC –

“The SCC amount is the Somatic Cell Counts (number of white blood
cells …Leukocytes) per milliliter of milk (SCC/ml). A dairy industry
rule of thumb states that cows measuring less than 200,000 SCC/ml of
milk are considered healthy or not significantly infected with
mastitis. Cows measuring over 200,000 SCC/ml are considered infected
cows.”

That was the PER COW level. The BULK MILK level regulation is:

“Beginning July 1, 1993, the SCC level in milk quality regulations
must be less than 750,000 SCC to comply with the State and Federal
Pasteurized Milk Ordinance. A violation of the PMO makes the milk
non-marketable.”

I now look for the "doesn't use growth horomones" label on the milk but I still buy it. Ebon refuses and tries to taunt me with 'milk pus' songs and smack talk. He has switched to rice and almond milk and is now trying to find a way to get a machine to help him make it at home. He's obsessed about this.

I will win the HK prize and have a wrestle off. Those of you who want it will wrestle for it for me. In jello. Peach flavored so it won't stain the skin so bad. There will be photos, but they will remain private. :cheesy:

I have turned into the 'air ON' person and Ebon is the 'air OFF' person. It's in his best interest if he wants to live to make sure that I don't sweat in my own apartment.

My feelings get hurt very easily, to the point I sometimes wonder if it's normal.

I was in another thread and five came up and I thought of this thread, so...

5 was a very bad year for me and here are 5 reasons why.

1. I contracted whooping cough and almost died.

2. I had my first experience with being forcibly stripped naked, tossed onto a freezing metal gourney and covered with towels soaked in ice cold water, complete with an ice bath at the end. Multiple times. See number one for the reason why.

3. I experienced my first molestation. It was the only singular event and the only one perpetrated by my cousin.

4. My mother and much of my family smoked. I spent more time in the hospital that year than I did out, due to asthma, bronchitis, double pneumonia, walking pneumonia, and just plain ole run of the mill pneumonia.

5. I also had surgery on my kidneys that year. Yaaaay for not having to refuse to drink anything so I wouldn't pee so it wouldn't burn and hurt and make me cry and given IV fluids and then ripping said IV out and then being held down and forced to drink stuff and having to pee and being hurt and crying anyway any more. I went though that for two years before I was big enough to operate on. While I do know that the surgery was a good thing, the hospital stay was not. I clearly remember two of my hospital stays in my life, and not for good reasons at all, and that is one of them.

I am horrible with directions and a GPS does not work for me it just distracts me from looking at the road!

I am in awe of women that can walk, run or stand for long periods in stilettos.
I am most comfortable walking around in bare feet. My feet are always pedicured and have polish on them though.

I prefer not to wear panties.

My Dad passed away on April 20, 2011. I miss him lots.
The last words I said to him was when he was leaving the house to go into the ambulance to transfer him to yet another hospital..."Dad you are going on a vacation where they will heal the things that you are going through right now to make you feel better. I will meet you there." How ironic he passed away 3 days later. What a vacation! And I will meet him there when it is my time to go. xo

This is a really good thread. New here, I find it's a way to get to know a bunch of people quickly, in their own words and on their own terms, and in a way that I think could ease into reading some of the posts on other threads, as we all know that interpretation can go wrong. Familiarity breeds, uh, well, maybe breeds isn't quite the word in this milieu yet..., but you know, it nurtures good stuff.
