And we all know the Pats have cheated in the past and been fined and punished.

Yes, we ALL know this. That's one of the things that irks me the most about this. Everybody knows about the Pats but not many are aware of all the other teams and some of the actually dangerous and career threatening cheating they engage in. And while cheating is cheating, I believe there are degrees and the reality is nothing was going to change the outcome of that AFC championship game. It was a blow out that had nothing to do with the inflation of footballs. But there has been cheating done by some teams that does give them an advantage or worse that takes out for the season one of the key players on an opposing team. Are those teams vilified? I think not. Just because I'm a Pats fan doesn't mean my brain fell out. Even if I wasn't a Pats fan I could see the unfairness and inconsistency in how the Pats are judged compared to other teams.

I completely agree, the Pats seem to be judged, in the court of public opinion, harsher than the other teams that do the same type of things.

And, I also agree that the game against the Colts was a blowout. Even if they took away all of the Patriots points in the first half, the Pats still would have won 28-7. It's just how it is.

Now, there is only three and a half hours to kickoff. Enjoy the pre-gaming and the tailgating (if you are lucky enough to be doing that) and enjoy the game. I think it's going to be a great game!

Hope we dont have to play them again anytime soon.

That was a great game today after the 2nd half. The first half was slower. I'm so glad it picked up and became more exciting in the 2nd half. I was sitting on the edge of my seat yelling at the tv with some of those plays going on, and throwing socks! LOL
I gotta hand it to the Seahawks, I thought they were going to win if we hadn't got that ball at the end. OMG OMG what a game!
Well played for both teams!

Cin
02-01-2015, 09:56 PM
Well that was big fun.

I really thought it was going to be the Seahawks after that crazy circus catch at the Pats 5 yard line. Then Butler intercepts Wilson. Really awesome game. I don't think I would have thrown the ball if I was the Seahawks. But I'm not and if Lockette makes the catch and the Seahawks get a touchdown then everyone would have been saying what a brilliant play it was.

I'm just glad the Pats won.

I agree with the last few posts...definately was a emotional last 2 mins.

An extremely dubious call just inches from a touchdown by the Seahawks. They still had time, and a time-out.

The brouhaha at the end of the game reminds me once again that these multi millionaires are held on a pedestal despite behaving like petulant spoiled children. A fight. Really? Great imagery for the young kids watching, yeah-no.

All-in-all, a nail biter of a game and Kati Perry and the half time show was superb! The hours invested from truly talented people putting it all together is to be lauded.

A high-five to the Patriots and their fans. Congratulations!

In at least 45 years of understanding the game of football, I don't remember ever seeing a game I thought was "thrown". I swear this one looked like it. Who calls a pass play that close to the goal line, with downs left and time outs left and 4 points down. Not just in the Super Bowl but in any game. As Collinsworth said NOBODY who understands the game of football, would run that play at that time.

Collinsworth flipped out when he saw Wilson dropping back to pass. Brady made a great comeback for sure, but was he really the MVP? No he wasn't, Butler was the real MVP, without his interception the Seahawks would have scored. Then there is the 13th man Pete Carroll. Maybe he deserved the new Colorado truck more than anyone in the game.

I said before I didn't care who won and I didn't but to be honest I was so jacked up after the last 30 seconds of that game I couldn't even sleep.

I really don't think it was that bad a call. Certainly not one I would have made, but one that makes some sense. If you consider there was 26 seconds left and if the Seahawks run the ball and don't score, they are forced to take their last timeout. That means on third down, they would have had to pass anyway since there likely wouldn't have been enough time for them to line up and run a fourth down play after an unsuccessful rushing attempt. By passing on second down, then they could run the ball on third and fourth if they need to. It might not be the best decision but it certainly was an option and if it had worked nobody would be second guessing the decision. And it easily could have worked if Wilson had thrown the ball low and into the chest of Lockette (notice where Tom Brady puts the ball on the slant to LaFell for a touchdown earlier in the game) and Lockette had positioned himself better anticipating the contact from Butler. That's not what happened, but I think it was more likely just a bad throw and poor positioning from the receiver that made Carroll's call seem worse than it was. I really can't imagine the Seahawks threw the super bowl. I mean do you really think that's what happened? Maybe Belichick or Brady paid Carroll to throw the game? Or maybe the NFL just fixes the super bowl?

As far as Brady not deserving being MVP, that's a matter of opinion. I think Brady takes apart defenses with surgical precision. I think he has ice water running in his veins. When he is on there is nobody better. And I believe he really wanted to win this game badly. But that being said, the Seahawks were given a really amazing break with Kearse falling to the ground and using his knees and a hand to hold onto that pass. If Wilson had thrown a better slant pass to Lockette, Butler never would have made the interception, so I still believe Brady deserves MVP. Without him they wouldn't have been in the position to win the game.

Not the first time that Brady gave away his ride. He donated the Cadillac he won for his second Super Bowl MVP award to his High School to be raffled off. He got the whole team to autograph the underside of the hood and it raised $375,000.

I'm glad he gave the truck to Butler he did deserve it. He could have just as easily given it to Pete Carroll though.

Every year, I watch HBO's training camp sports show. And, every year, I enjoy getting to know the players on the team being highlighted more than just reading about them.

This year: the Houston Texans. Coach: Bill O'Brian.

JJ Watts, #99. Very impressive guy. Arms like a side of beef.

I always feel badly for the guys that they start having to cut to get from 75 players around September 1, down to 53 players last week on the season finale.

Anyway, good game with KC today but they lost-27 to 20.

Patriots will be close to unstoppable this year. Goodhell pissed Brady off enough that Brady is determined. Even with a so-so defense, they are pulling it off. High scoring games.... and you know that it is all Brady and his offense that are putting the points up.

LMAO 51-17????

This year is another Patriots year!!!!!!!

The Bears finally won a game, but I still don't like the way they're playing.
Cutler still sucks and the new coaching team isn't much better.
The best thing that could happen this season would be to hope for a decent draft pick next year and it turns out to be a QB.
So many new players, I need a score card to keep track.
Oh and offense could use a lift or better coaching.

Yep, love my Bears, but this year I have issues with them.
Win or lose, they will always be my team even when disgruntled.

Then there are quite a few teams you can't root for. Here is a list of NFL Cheaters with their cheat scores. Click on each team for an in depth look at the things they have done to earn their cheat score. Interestingly enough out of 32 teams the Patriots have only amassed enough cheat points to be 23 on the list. There are 22 teams who are bigger cheaters. Not that anyone would know it.

Oh I wasn't confused about what you were referring to at all. I just figured in the interest of fair play, because we all like fair play, I would bring to anyone's attention who cares to click on the link all the teams who have been caught cheating and cheating in ways that make a little extra air in a ball seem rather tame. Funny how one doesn't hear much about all those scandals. I mean they are part of the public record and are available for all to see, but not much is ever made of them. The Broncos, the leagues number 1 cheaters, are guilty of using performance enhancing drugs, violating salary caps, spying on other teams practices, videotaping them, offensive linemen using a foreign substance on their arms to make it harder for defensemen to get a grip, and the list goes on. And I am not purposely singling out Denver, I just used them because they are the number 1 cheaters. But there are plenty of others. And plenty, 22 exactly, who are bigger cheaters than the Pats. So in the spirit of fair play and all I figured I would point that out. I know the pats are the team people seem to love to hate, but they have in no way cornered the market on cheating. Their offenses have been rather mild compared to most.

Thursday night I got to watch Aaron Rodgers hail mary pass beat the stunned Lions. Was cool.

Today I got to watch the Jets fight back to force overtime against the Giants. Giants kicker picked a crappy time to miss his first field goal attempt of the season. Yay Jets!

And then, I got to watch the Patriots. Apparently, the game plan today was to pretend they were the Keystone Kops. The most exciting play was Brady transforming from QB to WR for a 30+ yard catch. I dont know if it was part of the game plan or Brady's inpromtu attempt to model for his receiving corps how to catch and ball AND hold on to it until the whistle blows. He should have also modeled how to stop the defensive line from smooshing the QB into the turf.....for the 40th time in the last 3 weeks. It was an ugly ugly home loss.

At least the Panthers are still undefeated!

I was so hoping we wouldn't have to play the Steelers in the playoffs. :( Not the first game anyway.

Glad the Pats get a bye week. Maybe, some of the injured players will be back or at least healthier. Brady's ankle MRI came back with just a sprain. Phew.

Given we have lost 4 of the last 6 games, and lost most of our bulky defensive linemen for the year, Im hoping we dont have to play the Steelers. Last time we did, Big Ben managed to drag half the line, the mascot, and a tow truck about 25 yards before before he tired enough for them to get him down.

Well, the Chiefs made it look easy.

Now, the Bengals need to make it look easy. Wrangler, get out the sage and start smudging!

I completely agree with you on the Steelers. I know Edelman is back, just praying we can up our D in time for the playoffs.

Wrangler, that was one heck of a 4th quarter with a wee bit of wtf??? Sorry the outcome wasnt favorable. The Bengals still had an amazing season. A lot of talent and a lot of youngins there. Bodes well for the future, especially with a healthy Dalton.

Pats take on KC. Dont know if that is good or not.....yet.

Denver gets to tango with what is left of the Steelers. Be interesting to see what's up with Ben's shoulder. And, I'm quite sure Antonio Brown is still circling Jupiter after that hit.

The sad part is I had to listen to the game because the satellite went out. Then in the last few minutes the internet went out so I couldn't even listen.

We did have an awesome season and I am looking forward to next year!

I think Hightower, Jones and Vollemor (?) will be in the playoffs. I also think Edelman is coming back and we can only pray to the football God's that Amendola is ready to play.

I think the Pats wanTed KC to win. While KC has a great defense, we have a great offense when all are healthy.

I met a lovely authentic cheese head while in line then other day. We lamented about Rodger's bad year and talked about the sainted Brett Favre.

He was such an affable guy. I guess mid westerners are as nice as southerners :)

They said that we may have some defense for the playoffs! (Patriots for those who don't know my team.) And, our offense will be souch better.

I hope we are Superbowl bound!
