what a great game. I love those kinda games. down to the last throw, down to one play.
congrats Giants! which i wanted to win , jus sayin :)
That one hurt even more than 2008. So, I'm just gonna sit here with my Packers Super Bowl Champs hat on and :eatinghersheybar:
When does spring training start?
It was the best superbowl i have seen in awhile. had me on the edge of my seat. although a serious patriots fan. there is always a winner and a loser. they both played a winning game however the giants came ahead by 4 points. Both teams played a hell of a game and for me being on the west coast having enjoyed watching the patriots play 4 times this year was amazing. I rarely get to see them play so regardless of the fact that giants won I am a happy girl that i got to see the patriots play again.
So, I'm just gonna sit here with my Packers Super Bowl Champs hat on and :eatinghersheybar:
You're wearing a Packers hat? No wonder we lost. Shit man I was trying to figure out what went wrong.
WTF! All they had to do was get a first down and NOT give the ball back to the Giants with all that time on the clock. Seriously. WTF.
Is it me or do the Pats' receivers really need some Stickum?
That last 50 seconds was ridiculous. It was actually as if nobody really wanted to catch the ball. Is it possible that people who play a sport professionally, who catch a football for a living, could all of a sudden be completely unable to hold onto to one thrown right in their hands. I could see if it was just one receiver but it was everybody. Fuck, that was just idiotic. They started the game like they never played football before and finished it with receivers who seemed to just refuse to make a catch.
At least there are the Red Sox to look forward to. Who doesn't love Fenway Park? Well, I'm sure there are plenty.
People keep telling me what a good game it was. They say oh, sorry about your Pats but they played a good game and it was fun to watch and stuff like that. I don't know. It didn't feel like that to me. The Pats played like they forgot how. Then when they were winning anyway, the receivers decided to just let the balls fall to the ground uncaught. That worked.

LOL. Yeah my fault. Wasnt even the cheese wedge hat I wanted.
I found myself shaking my head a lot from the opening kick off. You win the toss and give the ball away? I know superstitions and sports people make for weird decisions.
Brady making a mental error for a safety? Hello? Beaning JPP with the ball would have worked and saved the points.
They pulled it together in the second quarter and looked like the Pats I know. Then the keystone cops routine emerged again in the second half.
Stickum never occured to me. I was thinking just lodge these throws into their freakin face masks for gods sake. Hard to miss a ball when it is sticking out of your damn helmet.
A big part of me just felt it was a destiny season for the Giants. They were unstoppable since the break and convincingly so.
Yes, time for the Red Sox. The GM knows he traded both our shortstops right? Sigh.

I call that choking. lol
I felt so bad for them because you could tell they really wanted to pull off something wonderful there at the end, but they just sort of fell apart in those last seconds. One of the receivers started running before he actually caught the ball because he was so ready to take off and score - but that act made him drop the ball .... sad.
In case anyone has some leftover "wtf" Patriots energy. Here is a link to a game I play called quarterback-training (http://www.mindjolt.com/games/quarterback-training). Tom Brady throwing to receivers who DO ocassionally catch the balls. Aim high. And, extra points if you hit the Eli Manning head targets which taunt you with nasties.

and now it's time to engross myself in Women's NCAA basketball!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Baylor!!!!
I call that choking. lol
I understand choking when you have 58 seconds left in a game and you have 80 yards to go and your down by 5. What I don't get is how you choke when you have the lead, there is less than 3 minutes to go and you only have to get another first down and that's a wrap. Blowing that and giving the ball over is just refusing to win. It's going to be a long time before I get over that kind of really bad football.

I have no idea what God likes, nor will I pretend to know so. That seems, well, pretentious.
Football is football, players are traded, fired and hired on a daily bases. Come to think of it, it happens in all professional sports. Nothing is written in stone, but it does look like the Broncos are willing to accept the terms expressed by Manning.
What I do know is that my team has passed up 3 opportunities to sign a great quarterback.
I am afraid, unless they sign someone good soon, that the upcoming season will be another bad one.

I'm praying that one of the Cowboy's rivals picks up Tim Tebow.
I still can't believe he was the # 1 draft pick a few years ago. His QB rating last season was 72. He ranked number 28 out of something like 32 quarterbacks. Yet, Denver made it to the playoffs and beat Pittsburgh. This makes me believe in the power of God.
If Manning has recovered from his injuries things could get interesting in Denver. Denver may get Dallas Clark as well. I think they got a little taste of blood last year and now they want it.

UofM, don't fret too badly! If you mean the 'Fins missed Alex Smith and Matt Flynn don't shed a tear. Neither is really any better than Matt Moore the QB you already have and tonight they added David Garrard. The Dolphins moves or lack of seem to be confusing but the franchise has been confused for a while. Dumping your best offensive player (Marshall) because he has off the field issues and run-ins with the law is weird when the team already knew he had those problems to begin with. The Dolphins are a mess. Aren't you used to it yet? Players don't want to go there for a reason.
So they missed Manning? I mean yes, he's been a great QB but he's past his prime, had THREE (or is it four) NECK surgeries and the Broncs just dumped a boatload of money at him. They do have the nucleases for a very good team around Manning and I do see them picking up some more players like Clark as someone already mentioned. But my beef is people are forgetting Manning is a china doll at this point. I wouldn't risk it. But then again, anyone is an upgrade from where the Broncos were at QB.

Q, formerly known as John, formerly known as Ezee,
Jeff Ireland IS the problem. Why sign a has been? The difference with Manning is that at least he would have been a great teacher/model for a young quarterback drafted this year. Gerrard is none of that.
Now we have not only another china doll, poor used goods, but he has none of those other qualities Manning does, like leadership, knowledge and expertise.
I was hoping for Alex Smith, I think he stood out more than the others. And I do not even want to talk about the Marshall trade. Really?! I totally agree with you.
I agree about Matt Flynn, what, two actual starts and now he is a super star? I think not.
Once again we are going to suck, but this time "Luck" isn't even in the equation.
The only redeeming fact is that among the mediocre choices Jeff Ireland was willing to spend money on, we did not end up with the T-man. We do not have to deal with sideline praying and miracle chanting and all that circus shit Elway and the Broncos organization were done with.
Perhaps there IS a God.

What a sad day to be a Saint's fan. I don't know if the suspensions are too harsh or not, but I hope that other teams will be looked at for doing the same thing the Saint's got caught doing. It taints the Super Bowl run of 2009. I am a Saint's fan and am disappointed in Sean Payton and the Saint's organization for letting the bounty system get started in the first place. I am not surprised that Greg Williams got banned from the NFL. My question is what will happen to the players and how can the Saints rebound from their suspensions when they come down. 2012 is the year that the Super Bowl will be played in the New Orleans Superdome. Can the Saints even get there? The Saints need to sign Drew Brees soon so that something good can come from this season. Geaux Saints, bummer.

This whole thing is breaking my heart and i wonder if the Saints were the only team investigated.
That's a really good question. I think the focus was on the Saints because someone gave the NFL offices the info. The "someone" is rumored (http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2012/03/warren-sapp-saints-bounty-snitch-is-jeremy-shockey/1#.T2qPEZguh_0) to be ex Saint Jeremy Shockey. You may want to check out this article (http://m.si.com/news/to/to/detail/4775254) by Peter King of SI. It was written several weeks ago before the league handed out the punishments today.
Some interesting points here by King:
The league said there was an initial investigation, after the 2009 season, into a bounty system led by Williams that could not be corroborated. Then, Goodell said "significant and credible'' new information was forthcoming late in the 2011 season that led to the findings the league acted on Friday. Those conclusions found that Saints players were paid off-the-books incentives for some outstanding performances such as interceptions -- obviously in violation of the league's salary cap -- as well as $1,000 and $1,500 payments for injuring opposing players.
The league, led by director of investigative services Joe Hummel and chief league security officer Jeff Miller, discovered these violations:
• Players pooled their own money to fund the bounty club, and players were paid $1,500 if a foe was knocked out of the game, and $1,000 if an opponent was carted off the field.
• Between 22 and 27 players contributed to the bounty pool over a three-year period, with amounts guaranteed if a certain opposing player was knocked out of the game.
• Ex-Saints Coach Gregg Williams (now defensive coach for Rams) occasionally reached into his own pocket to contribute to the bounty pool.

Word...On what Snow said, but insert "Pittsburgh"...
I'm just wondering do people believe that most or even many NFL teams have bounty systems in play that pay players not just for outstanding performances, like interceptions and such, but for actually purposely injuring opposing players and getting them at least knocked out of the game and hopefully carted off the field?
I mean I get extra bucks as incentive for outstanding plays but purposeful injury is a bit much. Maybe I'm just too naive.

i have noticed in games what i felt like was an a attack on a single player.
i always thought it was just me but i know i saw Tom Brady being targeted in one game. If there is a bounty for a players head they sure won't care about a silly roughing the kicker or late hit on the QB.
What is sad is have so many times often though each game was fixed.

I think they do attack a single player. Especially someone like Brady. But that's part of the game. A clean hit is one thing. I mean it's football not golf, people are supposed to hit each other...and hard. But not in ways that are bound to cause injury. Accidents happen, but if you do it on purpose it's no accident. And if somebody is paying you to purposely end someone's season or career then that just sucks. And it's cheating. If you can't beat someone fair and square then I don't care what the score says, you didn't beat them period. Winners never cheat and cheaters never win even when they walk away with the Lombardi Trophy. But then as I said, I'm a bit naive.
About games being fixed, you know I've wondered that sometimes. But logistically I don't think it's possible to fix games. I mean when you consider the only way to keep a secret is not to tell anyone or to kill them immediately after you tell them, something like the entire NFL fixing games would be one hell of a secret to keep. I imagine you can pay off individual refs or even individual players to throw a game, but that's really not a guarantee. And as long as some refs or some players are blissfully unaware the fix is in, the game can end up playing out almost fairly. Especially with instant replay and the red flag. Also I have a hard time imagining that elite athletes like these guys are would want to play fixed games. It's not like they don't make pretty good money already. What would be the motivator?

I love the Saints, and Sean Payton, and I was glad to hear of the harsh punishments. I am a lifelong football fan, and I think this bounty bullshit is abhorrent in every way! Yes, football is a brutal sport, and yes, players sign up for the possibility of hard hits and severe injury... through normal game play! When you put a bounty on someone's head, it ceases to be normal game play and becomes a per-meditated assault. I also think that it's not saying a lot for your own team if you have to rely on taking other players out to win a game. I hope other teams engaging in this behavior take notice of these harsh penalties, and stop this horrible behavior so we can put some sportsmanship and authenticity back into the game I love so much!
And P.S. - CONGRATS to Denver fans for getting a real QB ;)
96 million for poutin Manning. Really? For a player that you aren't sure can even play after the injury he has had, and surgery. Really? For a player in the twlight of his career. He is 35 not 25. Tebow minus the hype did pretty good for his first season in the NFL. Seems to me Denver aka Elway in the front office, gave away their promising future. For a very expensive has been, may never be again. Maybe Elway was worried that a young player with a bright future would break too many of his records.

not sure what to say about the whole bounty thing. first time I hear of it in the NFL. I think there should be suspensions and fines however. Not cool to injure others just for the fun of it and to profit, seriously. . I wonder if some of those late hits and QB hits we see were part of this "bounty."
There is a clause in Mannings 96 million for 5 years that states he has to stay healthy. There is a chance he may not get it all? As for Tebow, poor guy is headed to NY to serve as backup. Although, I think there may be a chance he could win that starting position just like he did in Denver. We shall see.
Next season is looking interesting already and I can't wait for NFL football! :footballpass:

I like Caleb Hanie and given the chance to play more, he could become a better QB
This would be the 2nd time Denver has taken a QB from Chicago and I really missed Orton when Cutler and him traded spaces.

From ESPN Insider
1) Indianapolis Colts
Record: 2-14
* Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
No, the knowledge that Luck will be doing a private workout with the Colts doesn't change my thinking here. His pro day was as good as expected -- meaning, very good -- and Luck has little left to prove before draft day. I'll be interested to see if he and the Colts get something done contractually before the draft to further diffuse any suspense.
2) Washington Redskins (from Rams)
Record: 5-11
* Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor
Last time I did a mock, the Redskins moved into this slot a day later. It wasn't an unexpected move, it was just a matter of which team was going to do it. Obviously, the Redskins see RG3 as a long-term answer, and I agree with the assessment that he can be an NFL starter in Week 1. Again, no surprises here.
3) Minnesota Vikings
Record: 3-13
* Matt Kalil, OT, USC
This is one more I'm going to stick with. We know Minnesota needs an upgrade at left tackle, and Kalil is that rare rookie who doesn't need to spend some time on the right side. I think he can start his NFL career at left tackle and hold the position down, even though he'll face some serious competition in terms of NFC North pass-rushers. This pick is about giving Christian Ponder a chance to be successful.
4) Cleveland Browns
Record: 4-12
* Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
At his pro day, Richardson confirmed that his knee is just fine, and while we know a running back is always a risk this high, here is a player gifted enough, and with such a remarkable physical profile and skill set that you're comfortable making him an exception to the trend. The Browns need an impact player at running back, and they can take the best one in the draft here, then look for a quarterback to push Colt McCoy later. They really take a QB here only if they feel he can beat out the one they have in Week 1. Richardson is going to make a difference.
5) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 5-11
* Morris Claiborne, CB, LSU
A great player, an instinctive corner, a high-character kid and a guy who can make a sagging pass defense better from the day they draft him. What's not to like? Claiborne is hands down the best cover corner available in the draft, and the Bucs still need plenty of help with age and uncertainty dotting their secondary. This is a safe pick and a guy who should be very good for a long time.
6) St. Louis Rams (from Washington)
Record: 2-14
* Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St.
The possibility remains that St. Louis could move off this spot, but if the Rams stay here and get Blackmon, they'll immediately upgrade a huge weakness, which is the lack of talented options for Sam Bradford in the passing game. Blackmon's speed is adequate, but his smarts, ball skills, route running and work habits translate to a guy who can contribute immediately, which is what this offense desperately needs.
7) Jacksonville Jaguars
Record: 5-11
Melvin Ingram, DE, South Carolina
As versatile a defender as there is in the draft, Ingram provides immediate pass-rush help to a Jacksonville defense that sorely needs it, and he offers great flexibility to any coaching staff that wants to mix up its looks, which is pretty much all of them. He isn't extraordinarily explosive, and has short arms, but he disengages very well and has an arsenal to attack blockers and opposing quarterbacks.
8) Miami Dolphins
Record: 6-10
Ryan Tannehill, QB, Texas A&M
We know Miami lacks a long-range plan at quarterback, and while Tannehill isn't a guy I'd endorse as an immediate starter, his ceiling is so high you can take him here with a plan in place because of his rate of growth. His already sound mechanics and skill set imply a bright future. The talent isn't in question.
9) Carolina Panthers
Record: 6-10
* Dontari Poe, DT, Memphis
A pick I'm sticking with. Carolina couldn't stop the run last year while rotating rookies on the interior. The Panthers need to find a force that can create stops. Poe has freakish athleticism that will inspire Haloti Ngata comparisons, but what I like here is the versatility. He's not just a 3-4 nose tackle -- he can be a dominant force in the 4-3 as well. Carolina could use a piece in the passing game, but it'll score points. Defense has to be a priority, starting up front.
10)Buffalo Bills
Record: 6-10
Riley Reiff, OT, Iowa
Buffalo has passed on offensive line options in recent years, but Reiff would be a good option to buck the trend. The Bills have made big strides on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, and that allows them to focus on shoring up the offense. Reiff will help protect, but is a complete player and will provide a spark in the running game as well.
11) Kansas City Chiefs
Record: 7-9
* Luke Kuechly, LB, Boston College
Kuechly is a rare talent at linebacker -- instinctive, explosive, able to make plays from sideline to sideline, but very sound in reading plays into the backfield and making stops. Kansas City has a need here, and Kuechly is a safe pick, a guy who can get on the field early and pick up the nuances of the NFL game right away. A tackling machine at linebacker, he'll make any defense better.
12) Seattle Seahawks
Record: 7-9
Quinton Coples, DE, North Carolina
Even if Kuechly is still on the board, it would be tough for Seattle to pass on perhaps the safest 4-3 DE option available. Coples has prototypical size, can play every down as a pass-rusher and has a solid arsenal of moves to get to opposing quarterbacks, but with the size and discipline to be a force against the run. Seattle can't go wrong here with either the top LB or DE available. This defense is close to being considered among the NFL's finest.
13) Arizona Cardinals
Record: 8-8
Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame
Another pick I'll stick with, Floyd is a great complement to Larry Fitzgerald and will help Arizona maximize the options for Kevin Kolb. The offensive line could use help, but Floyd has proved that he'd be a good value here. Think of Atlanta getting Julio Jones to take some pressure off Roddy White last year. Floyd could fill a similar role.
14) Dallas Cowboys
Record: 8-8
Mark Barron, S, Alabama
Dallas was aggressive in getting a solid corner in free agency with the addition of Brandon Carr, but the Cowboys still need help at safety to shore up the pass defense. I don't think another corner is out of the question at this spot, but Barron is the best safety in the draft, and the Cowboys can't go wrong if he's available. I can also see Dallas going offensive line here, as that unit could use some help, but Barron makes sense.
15)Philadelphia Eagles
Record: 8-8
* Fletcher Cox, DT, Mississippi St.
Disruptive and explosive from the interior, Cox is another player you can take without worries about a scheme fit. He has a chance to become a Pro Bowl player regardless of where you line him up inside. The Eagles simply have to become stronger against the run, and up the middle in general, and Cox should provide early dividends.
16)New York Jets
Record: 8-8
Courtney Upshaw, OLB, Alabama
Rex Ryan should see Upshaw as a great fit for what he's trying to do on defense. Upshaw has size to hold up against the run even as a pass-rusher in a 3-4, making him an ideal fit here. He plays with a high motor, sheds blocks well with quickness and violent hands, and he'll make plays all over. I do think the Jets could grab Barron if he's on the board. They could use a talent upgrade on defense in several spots.
17)Cincinnati Bengals (from Oakland)
Record: 8-8
* David DeCastro, G, Stanford
We've seen interior lineman come off the board in similar spots over the past two years to great results, and DeCastro would be no exception. An immediate help to the run game, he's strong but agile and will help shore up a Bengals rushing attack that has to do more to create positive down-and-distance situations.
18) San Diego Chargers
Record: 8-8
* Chandler Jones, OLB, Syracuse
Listed as a defensive end at Syracuse, Jones has the talent, upside and a great frame to make the move to OLB in a pass-rushing role. He's still a little raw, but the instincts are there and offensive linemen have a really tough time getting their hands on him. Could blossom into a star for the Chargers.
19) Chicago Bears
Record: 8-8
Whitney Mercilus, DE, Illinois
Quick off the edge, Mercilus utilizes great anticipation and some natural gifts as a pass-rusher, with closing speed and long arms once he has the quarterback in sight. He's coming off a brilliant final season for the Illini, and Rod Marinelli could do wonders with him. The Bears could use some pass-rushing insurance with Julius Peppers not getting any younger.
20) Tennessee Titans
Record: 9-7
* Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, Alabama
The Titans lost their top cover corner in free agency, and Kirkpatrick has the talent and experience to contribute right away. He is really tall for the position; people see his size and assume he'd become a safety, but he does everything a shorter corner can do, and will utilize his length to become a guy who can be left on an island against big targets, even in the red zone.
21) Cincinnati Bengals
Record: 9-7
* Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
The Bengals need to add depth at corner, and Gilmore is a natural fit. A starter since the day he stepped on campus at South Carolina, Gilmore is a smart, mature player who has good instincts, can be effective in press and will pick up concepts quickly. He tested well across the board, with no glaring weaknesses in his game.
22) Cleveland Browns (from Atlanta)
Record: 4-12
Cordy Glenn, G, Georgia
Cleveland gets the top runner in the draft at No. 4, and here it gets a great guard to open gaps on the inside. It's clear the Browns need options in the passing game, but becoming a team that sees a lot of second-and-4 situations will go a long way to making this offense more dangerous. Glenn is versatile and can be moved around, but he has the chance to dominate on the inside.
23) Detroit Lions
Record: 10-6
* Jonathan Martin, OT, Stanford
The Lions can't go wrong with either the best corner or tackle option here. In this scenario, Martin fits what they'll be looking for to bring the O-line up to par. An athletic tackle, he should develop into a great pass protector for Matthew Stafford. Jeff Backus has played forever, the Lions have enough pieces elsewhere and must target the line.
24) Pittsburgh Steelers
Record: 12-4
Dont'a Hightower, LB, Alabama
One more I'm sticking with from the previous mock, Hightower simply makes a lot of sense based on need and Dick LeBeau's scheme. Hightower was an exceptional young player for Bama, a guy who saw major time as a true freshman (no small feat in that program) before he lost a year with an ACL injury. He has recovered, and could become a star for the Steelers, with the size to hold up anywhere, and the athleticism to take on whatever role the Steelers need. <Love the pick hope it comes to fruition. >
25) Denver Broncos
Record: 8-8
* Michael Brockers, DT, LSU
The LSU defense in 2011 was the kind of unit that makes you rewind the tape a lot. So many guys made so many plays, you have to go back and look at where it started. In many instances, it was with the disruptive Brockers, who can create havoc from the inside, blowing up the run and penetrating against the pass. Denver needs to strengthen the inside to complement a solid group of pass-rushers.
26) Houston Texans
Record: 10-6
* Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor
Minus Andre Johnson for much of the past season, Houston's play-action game took a big hit. The Texans just couldn't stretch the field. Wright can be dangerous with or without Johnson. He'll challenge defenses deep, but can also work underneath and run after the catch. The Texans need more ammo in the passing game, and Wright will provide it.
27) New England Patriots (from Saints)
Record: 13-3
Shea McClellin, OLB, Boise St.
A player who has moved up boards during the draft process, he played with a hand on the ground at Boise State, but has enough athleticism and the smarts to transition to standing up on the edge in this type of a system. The Patriots have to work on the front seven in the draft, and McClellin is the type of heady player Bill Belichick can work with.
28) Green Bay Packers
Record: 15-1
* Nick Perry, LB, USC
By the end of last season, the Packers were sacking quarterbacks at a rate that was the worst in the NFL. They simply have to find players who can create matchup problems for offenses often trying to play catch-up via the pass. Perry is another convert option, but the Packers can do a lot with their looks and find a place for a pass-rusher with his upside.
29) Baltimore Ravens
Record: 12-4
Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin
Sticking with this one from the previous mock. As I've said before, Matt Birk will need a replacement at center at some point (soon), and Konz is the best one available. The Ravens will want to get younger in some spots on defense, but they simply have to be better along the offensive line, which was a liability for much of last season.
30) San Francisco 49ers
Record: 13-3
* Stephen Hill, WR, Georgia Tech
Hill is the biggest home run threat in the draft when you combine his speed and size, and it's no secret the 49ers need some help at wide receiver, even with the additions of Randy Moss and Mario Manningham. He'll need an adjustment period as he gets used to doing more in terms of scheme than he was asked at Georgia Tech, but he's the kind of weapon this offense needs to expand.
31) New England Patriots
Record: 13-3
Derek Wolfe, DL, Cincinnati
Will fit best as a 3-4 DE, where he can use his size (6-5, 295) to become a disruptive pass-rusher. Not considered explosive in terms of foot speed, he plays with great leverage and can disrupt pockets by driving linemen back, demanding extra help. Another good fit for the Patriots as they add pieces up front.
32) New York Giants
Record: 9-7
Coby Fleener, TE, Stanford
The best tight end on the board, Fleener has the speed to be used off the line, where he can become a matchup problem and further diversify an already strong passing attack. Fleener has great hands, fantastic route-running ability and will become a big threat in the red zone. The Giants also need offensive line help, or could target a linebacker here, but Fleener fits.

Hussa, Hussa, Hussa, Hussa...hit em in the head with a big kielbasa...GO STEELERS!!
This is something that in my family, we call each other and cheer yelling on the phone together pre game!! I am one of ten children so everyone somehow...someway gets a call from another and hence our tradition was born. I have no idea where it started, no doubt was long long ago! (wink)
I invite you to embrace this cheer, :) proudly and humbly before each game say it out loud!
Leaving you with this thought.......in Pittsburgh, a six pack is not what a part of your body looks like, nor is it six refreshing cocktails...or a six pack of ice cold beers (LOL) however a six pack is more than a fist full of rings that happen to be from winning six super bowls :) and this would be the correct reference when speaking about a six pack! If only the Saints could open their wallets and sign Drew Brees to a long term contract, but I guess after paying that bounty penalty they're a little short on cash. Seriously sign him already.:footballpass:
They did! and Da Bears signed Forte to a 4 year deal.
.. and Manning is with my Broncos!
Now lets get this show on the road.. ohh yeahh! Football season is near!
I'm about ready to start up my fantasy team soon. PM me here if you would like to join it! It's at yahoo and we usually have about 10 - 12 teams in the league.

My ex is a huge Dolphin fan. Since I never really was rabid over any pro teams, just my Nebraska Cornhuskers, I would follow any pro team that had former NE players. One of the players that used to be at Miami coached at the high school my ex worked at. He had also happened to be on the Miami Hurricane team that beat NE in the Championship game. And of course, he played a starring role in the last play of the game. Of course.
So she had several pics of this guy up al over the family room's walls, along with autographed footballs. She would point this fact out everytime we had people over to watch football. Of course.
The way I looked at it was that I always have been a Cornhusker fan, and always will, No matter who is around me, no matter how much dissing on either side might be happening.
Main thing is I love football, no matter WHO is playing!

I'm not too much into pro ball, although i watch it! Cause it's FOOTBALL!! College ball is my passion!!...Especially U of M! Of course it COULD have something with the fact that was born and raised here in Ann Arbor.
'How many days before U of M's first game this season' you wonder? Well, I'll tell ya....26!! Can you STAND it?
On the FLIP side of all this inner happiness, football Saturdays are the WORST at work! I work in the ER at U of M hospital. OMG!! It's ambulance after ambulance of drunken students. Most of them come into the ER with a red garbage back tied around their necks. The medics on the ambulances do that so that these kids, 99.7% are passed out COLD, can puke in something other than the floor of their rig! The other .3% are usually crying girls, makeup smeared everywhere, trying to get a signal on her cell while all her little friends that are gathered around her, text or call all of their bff's to tell them what's going on. Dear GOD!! Literally, less than 20 mins later, that same rig pulls in with another drunk student and so on, and so on, and so on.....The worst are the day we play either OSU or MSU. You'd just have to be there to believe it! LoL!!

For the situations where a partner or a potential partner likes a team that makes NO sense, like the Steelers, I foresee several ways to use this to your advantage...
Strip football...
Mandatory backrubs for every touchdown scored...
Hitting the sack every time the quarterback is sacked...
A bar of dark chocolate penalty for every loss...
The person who's team loses that weekend has to cook or pick up dinner...
Take it where you will.

Hitting the sack every time the quarterback is sacked.....although last year was an unusual year for sacks with the Steelers .............Steeler fans will be lacking sexually during games this year !!

Arwen you pick players that you want for your team, all positions and some extras for the bench with a real draft if your league wants. Then you pick who will play on your team each week. However the player does in the real NFL game you are awarded points for your team if you have that player. You are head to head with another team. Whoever has the best players that week or most points wins the game for the week.
I'm still looking for players if you would like to join or anyone else, just message me your email for a link to get in. It doesn't take up much of your time, just the draft if you want to be active in that or you can choose not to and just set your preferences for your players. Then each week or you choose who will play for you based on your players. You can set up each week in advance. There is also no charge to play, just fun and games and a lil trash talkin! :)

I can't stand Rex Ryan. He need to stop being a braggart. Year after year he talks big and then falls on his face. I loved it last year when he said he was NY's team, and then we won the game, Jets didn't even make the playoffs and we have our shiny new Lobardi trophy.

Steelers Vs. Colts Final Score: Late Field Goal Lifts Pittsburgh To 26-24 Win
Ben Roethlisberger had his first pass of the day intercepted but came back to throw for 81 yards including a 57-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown. Charlie Batch took over and failed to put any points on the board finishing 7 of 10 for 84 yards. Johnson came on in the fourth quarter and completed 4 of 5 for 65 yards

Jets or Panthers?
I probably would have went with Jets and think they could have pulled it off had Sanchez stayed in the game. I'm just smh here thinking Tebow was my team's starter last season.
I didn't see my Broncos till 4th quarter. Been to busy with work to even know they were playing today! I see Manning is doing good however thus far and I' can't wait till the season starts!
So it's Cowboys at Giants to start the regular season. . Sept 5.
and my Broncos host the Steelers Sunday Night the 9th!

BRING ON SUNDAY!!
That was an interesting game. I like when one team makes the other look really good. Not sure the Giants appreciated doing that tho.
I liked watching DeMarco Murray. The guy is like a little tank who never gives up. You see him bounce off Giant players, spin around, and bounce off a few more before he headed downfield?
Who the heck is Oogletree?

As a Giants fan, that was painful to watch.
But I'm hoping it was the reality check game to get the players and the coaches back to focusing on winning and making good plays.
We do better when we are the underdogs/when no one thinks we can win. We lose against a lot of lousy teams because we go in overconfident.

I follow three teams, (4 if counting highschool). I bleed blue and white (PSU, we are STILL Penn State!), green, (go Eagles!) and black and yellow (here we go, Steelers!). My idea of the most ultimate super bowl would be Eagles against Steelers.
I also bleed blue and gold, my old HS alma mater colors (go Trojans!.. no, not the condoms)
While PSU lost last week, MUAHS Trojans BEAT our old arch ememy HAHS Bearcats!!! :cheer:
I'm so proud!!

This is a letter to the editor from Chris Kluwe, a kicker for the Minnesota Vikings. Gay marriage is on the ballot in Minnesota so things are really heating up there. Not only is this guy cool, he's completely adorable. A great spokesman for our cause!
An Open Letter to Emmett Burns
Editor's note: Baltimore Ravens linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo has voiced his support for a Maryland ballot initiative that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state. In response, Maryland state delegate Emmett C. Burns, Jr. (D-Baltimore) wrote a letter to Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti urging him to "inhibit such expressions from your employee." In the open letter below, Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe's responds to Burns.
Dear Emmett C. Burns, Jr.,
I find it inconceivable that you are an elected official of the United States government. Your vitriolic hatred and bigotry make me ashamed and disgusted to think that you are in any way responsible for shaping policy at any level. The views you espouse neglect to consider several fundamental key points, which I will outline in great detail:
1. As I suspect you have not read the Constitution, I would like to remind you that the very first amendment in this founding document deals with the freedom of speech, particularly the abridgment of said freedom. By using your position as an elected official (when referring to your constituents in order to implicitly threaten the Ravens organization) to argue that the Ravens should silence Brendon Ayanbadejo from voicing his support for same-sex marriage, not only are you clearly violating the First Amendment, but you come across as a narcissistic fromunda stain. What on Earth would possess you to say something so mind-boggingly stupid? It baffles me that a man such as yourself, a man who relies on that same First Amendment to pursue your own religious studies without fear of persecution from the state, could somehow justify stifling another person's right to free speech. To call that "hypocritical" would be to do a disservice to the word. "Mindfuckingly, obscenely hypocritical" starts to approach it a little bit.
2. You wrote, "Many of your fans are opposed to such a view and feel it has no place in a sport that is strictly for pride, entertainment and excitement." Holy fucking shitballs. Did you seriously just say that, as someone who is, according to your Wikipedia page, "deeply involved in government task forces on the legacy of slavery in Maryland"? Have you not heard of Kenny Washington? Jackie Robinson? As recently as 1962 the NFL still had segregation, which was only done away with by brave athletes and coaches daring to speak their mind and do the right thing, and you're going to say that political views have "no place in a sport"? I can't even begin to fathom the cognitive dissonance that must be coursing through your rapidly addled mind right now; the mental gymnastics your brain has to tortuously contort itself through to make such a preposterous statement are surely worthy of an Olympic gold medal (the Russian judge gives you a 10 for "beautiful oppressionism").
3. This is more a personal quibble of mine, but why do you hate freedom? Why do you hate the fact that other people want a chance to live their lives and be happy, even though they may believe in something different from what you believe, or act differently from you? How does gay marriage affect your life in any way, shape, or form? Are you worried that if gay marriage became legal, all of a sudden you'd start thinking about penis? ("Oh shit. Gay marriage just passed. Gotta get me some of that hot dong action!") Will all your friends suddenly turn gay and refuse to come to your Sunday Ticket grill-outs? (Unlikely. Gay people enjoy watching football, too.)
I can assure you that gay people getting married will have zero effect on your life. They won't come into your house and steal your children. They won't magically turn you into a lustful cockmonster. They won't even overthrow the government in an orgy of hedonistic debauchery because all of a sudden they have the same legal rights as the other 90 percent of our population, rights like Social Security benefits, childcare tax credits, family and medical leave to take care of loved ones, and COBRA health care for spouses and children. You know what having these rights will make gay Americans? Full-fledged citizens, just like everyone else, with the freedom to pursue happiness and all that that entails. Do the civil-rights struggles of the past 200 years mean absolutely nothing to you?
In closing, I would like to say that I hope this letter in some small way causes you to reflect upon the magnitude of the colossal foot-in-mouth clusterfuck you so brazenly unleashed on a man whose only crime was speaking out for something he believed in. Best of luck in the next election; I'm fairly certain you might need it.
Sincerely,
Chris Kluwe
P.S. I've also been vocal as hell about the issue of gay marriage, so you can take your "I know of no other NFL player who has done what Mr. Ayanbadejo is doing" and shove it in your closed-minded, totally-lacking-in-empathy pie hole.
