Ok last I looked KC was up 10-0 over the Steelers. WTF? My cat could beat KC with one paw tied behind her back.

TxDoc, I have to say, I was terribly upset at the loss of my beloved Tide to A&M - with that being said - Ags showed up to play - they were in it to win it and played a fabulous game - you certainly earned bragging rights - and I am proud to welcome you and the Ags to the wonderful world of the SEC.

And I bow to the graciousness of my birth state.

Nice to see the Steelers pull it together for a win.

Now, I'm hoping Big Ben's shoulder is just separated and not in pieces. Either way, replacing him in fantasy football will be this weeks impossible task.

Not sure who was more surprised at the Dallas win....me or Tony Romo.

For all the NFL rhetoric about preventing concussions and protecting quarterbacks when they are most vulnerable, how is it both Michael Vick and Alex Smith managed to get their brains scrambled? Not even gonna mention Mayo trying to unscrew Fitzpatricks head.

49ers-Rams tie was kind of a bummer especially seeing either could have won that game in OT.

You know the old saying: getting a tie is like kissing your sister.

Crap, crap, crap...just read Cutler will be out with his concussion for Monday night's game :|

If Campbell plays like he did in last weeks 2nd half, my team is screwed

Cutler, Vick, and Big Ben are all out this week. Might make for some interesting scores. Gonna mess up my fantasy line ups big time tho.

Now if Comcast would just remove the "TBD" from the game time slot, and replace it with the game information, I would be even more stoked!

a lil late but here we go for the picks folks!

Buf beat Mia. I probably would have pulled for MIA. damnit!

ooo ATL / ARZ tied. Go CARDINALS!

GO JAGS OVER TEXANS. (and they are ahead right now)

Come on Bucs over Panthers.

It's gotta be Browns over Cowboys. Them damn boys can't get it together this season.

Lets go, Lets go Lions over Packers. (Packers currently in the lead and I think I will pull for who ever plays the damn pack always, just don't like em ' since Favre left)

It's gonna be the Bengals over KC. We should all know that and they are ahead by a significant amount anyway. :p Wow, they change their starting QB as I type! I somehow think Quinn is a better QB than Cassel anyway.

Come on Jets, another win? They still will not play Tebow because he's "terrible Tim"

oooo good game with the Saints over the Raiders!

Come on Broncos over Chargers!

Gonna be Pats over Colts (cringe)

Ravens over Steelers. I just know. haha.

Come on Skins over Eagles.

ooo another good game Niners over Bears. Sorry Wolfy and Bears fans.

Wow! what another weekend of football!

Anyone catch the Texans/Jaguars. Into OT and it was anyones game then! However, the Texans took it.

I must have missed something with the rules of OT changing. I thought it used to be whoever scored first but it seems now both teams have a chance to have the ball back? is this correct?

I am surprised to see the Colts currently (the word is currently haha) ahead of the Pats! Go Colts! LOL

Yes, but....NFL.com/ESPN doesn't tell you whether or not you'll be able to watch it with your cable company. It is determined by game time, and where you are at. So, unfortunately, for me, it is not a very reliable source when I am on the west coast, wanting to watch a team from the opposite coast.

I knew that it would be on, because there is only one Sunday night game, but the "TBD" part was making me anxious.

I believe NFL.com does. If you click on the matchup it should say the cable network playing the game. I could be mistaken but I've seen it before.

I hear you about the whole coast thing. My team is on the west coast opposite of your fav team and I'm lucky I get to watch some of the games. Did you check NFL.com also for the play by play action when you are unable to catch a game. Again, just click on the matchup when it's gametime and it should take you right to it.

Congrats to you and Gaige and those Ravens!

Comcast schedules differ from coast to coast, so though it may be on NBC and on Comcast, it still may not be available to me. That's why I always check the local Comcast guide. Thanks though. So far, I've been lucky that I haven't had to miss any games, Gaige and I enjoy them together via Skype. :)

Comcast has a NFL channel called 'NFL RedZone'. It's about 10 bucks for the whole season. Comcast automatically renews the subscription. It's HD as well as regular TV. Basically whenever any team is in scoring position inside the 20 yd line which is called the 'red zone', that is the game it shows. It's EVERY football game.,....no blackouts.....

My favorite part is at the end of the show....usually at 5:00pm (CA)........every, yes every touchdown is shown at the end.....then it's off the air until next sunday.....

hanging my head..........Oaktown got spanked......

I bet Dish and Direct TV also have it.....you can look where all the NFL channels are and see if you find Red Zone or call your cable provider.

ruff,

Starting in 2012, regular-season overtime will be the same as postseason overtime i.e. modified sudden death.

My understanding is a TD (or safety) on the opening possession will automatically end the game. A FG will not.

In the case of an opening FG, the opposing team must be given the chance to win or tie. Failing to score ends the game.

Kobi

The news is reporting Patriot TE Rob Gronkowski, who left yesterdays game early, had surgery for a broken forearm this am. The Patriots, as usual, are refusing to comment.

This is not good news for a team riddled with injuries this year. Hernandez, our other super TE, has been sidelined most of the season with an injury. The Pats have a plethora of TE's but none of the rest come close to these two guys.

This is not good for my fantasy teams either. How the heck do you replace the Gronk? If that guy who has been bugging me to trade Gronk to him all year hasnt seen the news yet......naw, tempting but against my ethics.

This has truly been one heck of a challenging season.

35-3 at half.... lets not forget the 3. :)

Learned long ago as a Patriots fan, when it comes to the Jets (Bills and Miami) to never underestimate our opponents, their ability to stage a comeback, and the ability of our defense to turn into the keystone cops in the second half. :seeingstars:

Wondering exactly when the Jets are gonna realize Sanchez is their version of Romo i.e. occasionally phenominal but mostly unpredictable, unreliable, and disappointing. Can trying Tebow at the helm, for even a game or two, be that bad an idea?

Hadnt seen that acronym for Jets but it kind of fits eh? When your own fans start swearing at you, its not a good sign.

That controversial TD in the Detroit-Houston game was confusing. I am presuming no whistles were blown because no official had a clear view of the runner being down. And, in the absence of a whistle, Forsett alertly got up and ran it in.

If I understand this correctly, the play would have been automatically reviewed, and overtuned, except before replay officials could review the play, Lions coach Jim Schwartz threw his red challenge flag, which by rule, calls for a 15-yard penalty and nullifying the automatic review.

Never knew that rule existed but it makes sense to me. Kind of like a "nip a petulant toddler in the bud" rule. Was nice to see Schwartz gesture in understanding that he knew he screwed that up.

Washington-Dallas was fun. RG3, who I swear someone needs to check for bionic parts, was amazing. It was nice to see Romo get his head out of his butt long enough to make it interesting. Seeing I picked Washington to win, it was nice of Romo to come up short in the crunch again.

You got it. At least the league will be definitely looking at this rule and most likely altering it next year. Not only did it kill the chance for the review but they also got a 15 yard penalty for challenging an unchallengeable play. So they got nailed twice.

Hmmmm. Is the rule the problem? Or, was breaking the rule and having facing the consequences of doing so, the problem?

Perspective thing I guess. :)

congrats to my NE HUSKERS who won the Champs Division and will be off to Indy next week to battle the Badgers. Go Huskers !!

.. and now for the rest of week picks.

HOU beat DET

WA beat DAL - no surprise there!

NE took over the JETS

I have to go with the Bears over the Vikings. Cutler is back.

Bengals over the Raiders.

I would like the Browns to beat the Steelers.

Its the Bills over the Colts, barely.

C'mon Jax over Ten

It's gotta be the Broncos over the Chiefs.

C'mon MIA over SEA.

I have faith in these Bucs over ATL.

ooo BAL and SD. Chargers win.

Cardinals over Rams.

Another great game Niners and Saints. Close one with Saints taking this win they need!

Let's go Giants over the Pack.

Gonna be CAR over PHI for MNF>

Admitting I hate it when players get hurt, but even losing Big Ben and Polamalu shouldn't have made the team that poor, so quickly. Strong teams win despite losing good players.

This made me spew coffee. Love the superstitious rituals we gamers have to help our teams.

Am glad I feel asleep in the first quarter of that game or I would have been rummaging thru the closet looking for my Packers SuperBowl baseball cap - worn inside out and backwards .....as all rally caps should be. Not sure it would have helped tho.

I've been watching SF-STL, wondering why we couldn't get a "better" game on. Now, after crazy scoring drives and two huge runs, it's really good :). These two always play each other tough, and tied last time. What if that happened again?

I know a tragedy doesn't even come close to a football game in significance, but I was glad to see the Chiefs win. It must have been hard to get it together to play, but that's their job. I presume there will be a service for that young man and his girlfriend next week, and that's when the mourning and healing can begin.

Sad day in football. Condolences go out to all football fans, KC Chiefs organization and the victims families and friends and other victims of domestic violence and especially prayers to that little girl left behind in this tragedy. They are talking about bringing a full time therapist to the football teams so that if a player ever needs anyone to talk to, that is available to them. I think that's a good idea.

In other news a grounds crew worker of the Cleveland Browns also committed suicide this same day at the Browns facility, hanging himself. Again, thoughts and condolences go out to this organization, family, and friends.

YAY for The Tide!!!!

yea good game and Congrats to the Tide. I think I'll be cheering on the Irish though or perhaps I won't be cheering either team. I'll be interested in seeing that game although and hoping it's a good one! :)

I just learned My Huskers, although losing to WI and not going to the Rose Bowl will be battling the BullDogs here in the Capital Bowl and I will be a part of that ! wooohoooo! I can't wait!

The defense played their heart out. I'm concerned about the offense. One minute left in the first half before the offense crossed the 50 yard line.

Maybe some ego's are too big too. They call themselves *young money* Did you hear the home crowd boo'ing the continued succession of dropped passes?

The Eagles are out of it but lost anyway on Thursday. If these hold, then Dallas has great motivation to beat Pittsburgh later.

I put this on my FB, but also wanted to ask here.

Is it just me or has Cutler's game been off since his concussion?

I have tried to like him more this year than since he's been in a Bears uniform, but he always seems to disappoint me. I know Urlacher is out and the rest of the team needs to work as well, but the pass game is off or at least I believe it to be.

Him - does the G on your shirt stand for the giants?
Her - no, it's for green bay
Him - oh, is that in San Francisco?
Her - no, it's in Wisconsin
Him - oh. I don't know anything about football.

So after today's games, all six playoff spots for the AFC have been determined.
The home field/wildcard designations will not be final until the end of the season, but we'll see these teams in the playoffs:
New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Denver Broncos.

I don't know about you, but four of the six teams on this list are teams I wouldn't have pegged for being playoff bound at the beginning of the season.

Only three of the six NFC team playoff spots are definite- Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons, and San Francisco 49ers. Based on their record, Atlanta has secured home field. Next week decides everything.

wth?? WTF????

Atlanta shows up ans wi.s against teams ppl say r better however let someone says its going to b a cake walk against so and so and instead of playing they stay home.

Each of our loses were to team that need a GPS to find the ball in front of them.

Shaking my head. Do they really think waiting to the 4th quarter to play is going to WIN? Every bad team seems to have a great day against Atlanta go freakin figure

The Patriots do the SAME THING...but it works for them more often than not....lol I like to call them the come back kids ;) My second half warriors :)

New 49ers kicker Billy Cundiff practices alongside David Akers with Harbaugh closely watching
01-03-2013 06:33 PM PST |By JANIE McCAULEY, AP Sports Writer
SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Associated Press) --
Billy Cundiff, sporting a crisp new white No. 6 jersey, had an impressive first day of practice with the San Francisco 49ers while kicking alongside struggling veteran David Akers as coach Jim Harbaugh closely watched.

Cundiff signed a one-year contract Tuesday with the NFC West champion Niners (11-4-1) to compete with Akers as Harbaugh and his staff determine who will handle the kicking duties for San Francisco in the NFC divisional playoffs Jan. 12 at Candlestick Park.

Akers revealed Thursday not only did he receive death threats last month via Twitter, he also underwent surgery for a double hernia last February and then had a flare-up in November. After a win at New Orleans on Nov. 25, Akers returned to Philadelphia for injections from the doctor who performed his procedure

Texans beat the Bengals in what was one of the boringest games I have seen. Next the Texans try and tackle my Patriots.

Packers beat the Vikings. Was sad Ponder didnt play. Outcome might have been different. Packers-49ers should be a good game.

Im ready for Sunday football to start.

After this weekends super exciting games, it comes down to:

S.F. vs Atlanta - I love this new SF QB and would love to see him run his way into the Super Bowl.

Ravens vs Patriots - if there was one team I did not want to see standing in the way of the Patriots, it is the Ravens. Those games are always hard fought, nail biting, blood pressure spiking, last second field goal decides it all kind of endeavors.

omg Kobi....I am loving him too! Even when they beat the Patriots a while back, I couldn't HELP but admire his tenacity and real talent for the game. He is a very dynamic QB and has set the bar pretty high for standards of what QBs could be (and SHOULD be) capable of in the future! :)

Ok...I'm a Green Bay fan...as well as a Pats fan...BUT...I confess...I found myself rooting for the 9ers while watching the game. They have worked so hard to get to where they are....and yes, I am enamored with their "new" QB...

HOWEVER...

Teddy's team is the Falcons. And it's funny that's its setting up...that it COULD be the Pats vs Falcons in the SB :| BUT..I cannot root for the 49ers when my honey's team is at stake...Family first...

BUT...

IF it's the Pats vs Falcons....all bets are OFF! GO PATS!!!!! (And let's hope Giselle stays home this year. We haven't won a Super Bowl since SHE started attending them...looking all bored in the sky box drinking her wine...irksome!)

PS I was very happy that the Ravens pulled off an AWESOME win! I wanted Ray Lewis to have another shot at a Superbowl before he retires...He's been through a lot to be the man he is today...

PS2 My little brother is going to be at the game Sunday....and who DIDN'T he ask to go with....mmhmmm..that would be his favorite sister.. (ME) But then, when we went to opening day, I didn't exactly invite him either...

I stopped watching the Pro Bowl when they moved it to before Super Bowl Sunday. I hate that the top players from the two championship teams can't play in it because of the risk of injury.

I will say it was very classy for the NFL to allow Jeff Saturday the chance to snap the ball to Manning one last time before his retirement.

I feel meh about both teams in the Super Bowl. I'm rooting for the commercials.

49ers are my back up team when Pittsburgh was drifting, and I am able to get to their games a few hours north :flying: when I neeeeed that live football fix.

Of Course we have the Chargers an hour south, but they were sunning themselves again this year every time I went to a game.

I don't know if I wanna root for just one team, they both deserve to be in the Super Bowl this year. My Patriots were beat out this year by the Ravens. I will probably end up rooting for the 49'ers cause I did like how they played. I also like the quarterback for the Ravens, he's got an arm and can throw in windy conditions with or against the wind.....he showed that when they stopped mah Pats.
Anyway, may the best team win this year. I will be watching the game for sure.

Transcript for Real Life 'Blind Side' Players Face Off at 2013 Super Bowl

Kend, more than 100 million people are expected to watch the super bowl. And the player who is so famous from the movie "blind side" walking out onto the field. It turns out, though, there is another story on that field, giving a whole new meaning to happy ending.
Not the only player at all. Abc's steve osunsami. Reporter: For all the talk of the two brothers coaching on opposite sides on super bowl sunday, there's another incredible story on the gridiron.
Two of their bers, who aren't brothers by birth, but brothers in life. Big mike. Why were you going to the gym?
Because it's warm. Reporter: Michael oher's is the story made famous in the oscar winning film "the blind side. " The son of abject poverty and a broken home who found football thanks to the kindness of strangers who took him in.
Never had one before. What, a room to yourself? A bed.
Reporter: Today he's an offensive tackle for baltimore. Leigh anne, she was the first one who ever told me she loved me. I mean, I had never heard that before.
Reporter: Patrick willis was oher's teammate at ole miss and travelled the same difficult road to sunday's game. This is where the game of football all started. I couldn't afford to play pee-wee football.
I didn't running water until i was 8 years old. Reporter: The 28-year-old LINEBACKER FOR THE 49ers IS Considered the best in the business today, and he escaped an abusive father in rural tennessee who beat him with pots and pans. Both oher and willis were cared for, or adopted, by white families who had to explain themselves to the neighbors.
I said, well, yeah, I mean, yeah, we can help him. And, of course, everybody at the time was like -- you don't have a clue what you're doing. Reporter: The two have become lifelong friends, and outside practice tuesday, they told us how much they still truly love their adoptive parents, who'll be watching in joy from the sidelines.
They've been there thr the thick and thin, the good and d, the crazy years. Just to have them down here this weekend to enjoy this experience with me is truly a blessing. It's truly amazing, man, knowing where we came from and -- it's just -- it made us work a lot harder, knowing that -- not taking anything for granted.
