Dr. Anthony Fauci said in an interview with NBC Sports on Saturday with columnist Peter King that there was little chance that the novel coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19, will be eradicated.

Fauci said that with "global travel, every single day, of literally hundreds of thousands of people coming into the United States every day from all over, there's no chance we're going to be virus-free."

The novel coronavirus "is so transmissible, and it is so widespread throughout the world, that even if our infections get well controlled and go down dramatically during the summer, there is virtually no chance it will be eradicated".

While many sports fans are hopeful that the virus will be controlled enough to hold a regular football season in the fall, Fauci said that given how contagious the virus is and how easily it can be spread by people with no symptoms, the logistical hurdles of holding any kind of large-scale team sporting event would be immense. :|

The news that the Pittsburgh Steelers-Tennessee Titans game was being postponed came with the qualifier that it was likely to be played next Monday or Tuesday. That changed on Thursday. The NFL has moved the game to later this season, the league said in a release.

The Titans had eight positive COVID-19 tests that were reported on Monday, three from players and five on the staff. Another player tested positive on Wednesday. The league said there were two more positive tests on Thursday, one from a player and one from a personnel member.

Here is the league’s announcement:

“The Pittsburgh-Tennessee game scheduled for Week 4 will be rescheduled to later this season after one additional Titans player and one personnel member tested positive for COVID-19 today. An announcement of the new game date will be made shortly.

“The decision to postpone the game was made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel. The Titans facility will remain closed and the team will continue to have no in-person activities until further notice.”

Wow homoe, this is the first I have heard about this. Well if Cam has been diagnosed Stidham might have a shot at QB'ing this year. It takes weeks to get better and they can not keep postponing games. Wishing Cam a speedy recovery and hoping he did not pass it along to any other team players.

NFL pushes back Packers-Falcons start time on Monday Night Football

The Packers and Falcons have a new starting time on Monday Night Football. The NFL pushed back the start of the primetime showdown to 7:50 p.m. CT to accommodate the rescheduling of the matchup between Patriots and Chiefs, which was moved to Monday.

The Patriots and Chiefs will kickoff at 6:05 p.m. CT. The Packers and Falcons were scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. CT kickoff.

Plow, my friend and unfortunate Patriots fan. I was not a fan of playing football this season, especially outside of a 'bubble,' but here we are. I don't understand the scientific reasoning behind this either; I'm just crossing my fingers. Our practice squad QB is the other person who tested positive and that's significant because he was our Cam in prepping the defense for this game. How can so many people in direct, unprotected contact be cleared to play? The NFL's policy and guidelines are a joke to me.

That being said, I honestly wish we were playing each other full strength. How good are you if you beat a team depleted of its stars? Believe me, I'm not getting ahead of myself here, Belichick is still the mastermind and your defense is not joke. Just saying, as much I very seriously want to beat NE and start the season 4-0, there's not a lot of pride playing a very good Patriots team without Newton and Michel on the field. I think we got lucky with the scheduling for week 4.

I'm editing this to ask if anyone else has noticed the Patriots tend to draft extremely handsome quarterbacks? Seeing Stidham made me think back to Matt Cassel, Jimmy Garoppolo and, of course, Brady. Mike Holmgren won a Super Bowl as head coach of the Packers. He’s not impressed with the way the Packers are doing business as they try to win a Super Bowl with what’s left of Aaron Rodgers‘ career.

So I guess they make mistakes, too.”

So let’s make sure we understand this. Saban, a micromanaging control freak, wanted Drew Brees. But team doctors weren’t comfortable with his surgically-repaired shoulder. And Saban just shrugged, unwrapped another Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pie, and said, “Let’s give up a second-round pick for a mobile quarterback with three torn ligaments in the most important joint on his body.”

A football coach with full control over football operations controls everything. If he has any doubts about the medical opinions he has received, if he has any inkling that his own doctors are being unreasonably cautious, he can get a second opinion. Or a third one. He can keep hiring doctors to comment on whether a given player can play until the coach finds someone who will say what he wants.

I guess Bortles was just given a tryout when I posted this back then! Quarterback Blake Bortles is in Green Bay to sign with Packers. The team announced Bortles' official signing on Thursday this week.

The No. 3 pick of the 2014 draft by the Jaguars, Bortles played five seasons in Duval, most of them underwhelming, and was released. He's been with the Rams the past two seasons.

I'm also seeing alot of young college players with not a ton of experience go into the draft! They make money in college off their name, now. They should finish their education because the NFL won't always have the answer.

The Pats did better than I expected. They played the Eagles, the loser's of last year's Superbowl. First quarter blunders on offense, put them behind the eight ball but with a solid defense they got back in the game. QB Matt had a couple of great plays during the game but when given the chance (not once but twice) to win the game in the final minutes......he botched it. :( I'll be looking forward to the next game we play which is against the Dolphins. The Dolphins won yesterday and put up some big numbers against their opponent. I want to see what our defense can do to stop their offense and will hope Matt can make some better decisions and have better control when throwing the ball. :football: :cheerleader:

So after watching this season I am coming to the conclusion that Belichick is really not that great of a coach but just had exceptional talent with Brady, Gronk, Edelman. Bruschi, Wilfork. etc..He is more than struggling this year and plain hard to watch.

At this point, we can only hope for a good draft pick to get a decent QB. Mac is not a leader. Brady already proved that it wasn’t Belichick that made a winning team. I’m just saddened to see this. Hey guys (Blade & nhplowboi), when I want to watch football I just go to my local bar. My local bar has tv screens with major league sports on (baseball and football). Why pay extra at home to watch sports when you can go watch the game at a local bar and dine on something good for dinner and sip on your favorite drink? I’ve been cultivating a taste for Ginger Beer (which is non-alcoholic).

I am not impressed with how hard it is to watch anything worthwhile on tv.
