I wish I could remember more than I do right now..... but I just read Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. The HBO mini series from this past spring (?) Is based on the book. And while the TV show was fantastic, the book was even better. And, I'd say somewhat different too! I liked the book as much as the series, but the book was far more gratifying! :)

OMG, that would be such a delight!!! Thank you for the invitation!!!! Your birthday surprise for your daughter is absolutely awesome!! Is this your daughter who plays the cello, too??? I just loved your answers, Katniss! You're a pretty fabulous mother! :)

To answer your questions about how to show a friend you care, especially a friend who is going through chemo (your friend reminds me of my BFF who was just diagnosed with Lupus):

I'd say, because I've done this for a good friend who was going through chemo for breast cancer....at the time, my friend was 63..... I was just barely 32 years old): 1) check up on my friend often by dropping by or calling her by phone on a regular basis (2-3x/week, more during chemo sessions). 2) Take over small meals on the weekends. 3) Help her with household chores --- vacuum the house, dust, clean the kitchen and bathroom, clean the fridge (and take over juice or 7-up and small snacks like cookies or pretzels or cheese sticks, etc).

I'd say that the upper sector of Northwest Portland is still somewhat safe. Hawthorne, definitely. Belmont, too. Of course, my work campus, thankfully is a safe haven of diversity and tolerance and even acceptance, so I'd say we should stop by there too, but on one condition :giggle: : I'll be in my Bunny Ears and Bunny Slippers and my shades, I may even sport an wig, and wear fluffy clothing, ok??? ;)

I'm not sure what I will do this year, but last year I made special meals for people who had no food, then gave meals to people down on their luck. My youngest brother and I share an inseparable bond. My second youngest brother is tender hearted, like an child. My sister and I don't speak to each other at all, but I love her ability to step up and help my mother, which she would never do, years ago.

I agree with her, when she said that playing music makes her happy and that she likes to so so, to bring happiness to others. And, I too agree that the cello demands of its player a certain type of aptitude to ply its strings because each cello has its own mystery. Miss Katz, I was just reading a review of the Marshall movie and while it got rave reviews here in the Seattle Times, they did mention it wasn't a documentary as much a very famous case he tried in the East as a lawyer defending a man against a rape charge. Regardless, I think it'll be a good movie and hope to catch it myself.

1) Dogs because they are just so wonderful! They are loyal, trusting, loving, faithful. I prefer them to people.
