I had a toasted onion bagel with cream cheese and coffee....then broke out the chocolate biscotti after a frustrating trip to try to get my driver's license...so I'm leaving it all out and you can take your pick! :eating: I've got eggs, oatmeal and fruit around here too if anyone wants to actually eat healthy. :giggle:

The kitties are doing well....one of the big cats (Banshee) has accepted the little ones, but my Mabel (aka The Princess) is still not amused. She's not hiding outside anymore, but if they get in her face she still smacks them. Luckily, it doesn't seem to bother the kittens at all....they just look at her like "what's your problem?" :blink:

I'm getting ready for a conference call, then actually have to go back to the Driver's License office.....grrrrrrrrrr. Luckily I actually managed to find the paperwork that will (hopefully) appease their bureaucratic sensibilities (crossing fingers).

The whole class is surprised that he is giving us extra credit. His note taker has been absent since Tuesday and even though he tries to understand what the professor is saying, it is hard for him. I believe, that you should treat everyone like you would like to be treated. I learned this from taking care of my dad for ten years before he passed away.

Down here in my part of Florida, it was 39 degrees as a low yesterday and everyone was running around bundled up like an Eskimo. I had to laugh at them. I ended up taking my jacket off and never put it back on. Someone in class asked me if I was cold and I said nope, that to me it wasn't cold outside unless there was snow accompanying the cold weather. I am truly enjoying this cold weather we are having and it is making me miss living up in Michigan and Pennsylvania as a teenager.

An interesting twist...the last Civil War reenactment I went to was in NY state...and suffice to say that the FL version had a different perspective. They did a really good job...very educational and the kids (and I) learned a lot.

Think we're all tired from a long week though...came home with the Rooster and discovered that the Prince had fallen asleep. Feel like I could doze off myself, but I'll sit up and wait for my sweetie to get home. She's not feeling good at all, and Friday is always a long day for her. Tomorrow's her birthday (make sure you stop in on her birthday thread :) )....and I'm not sure what we're doing yet...other than me baking a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. :eating:

Went to the Chanaukah party tonight and Rabbinic installation of our Rabbi it was good but would be better to be with someone, these holidays are getting me down wish they were over with already bah humbug. :bringcoffee: Extra coffee needed this morning...and I confess I'm eating leftover cake for breakfast....got a massive 5 hours of sleep last night, which was at least better than the previous night's 3 :seeingstars:

I managed to get some of the outside lights up last night, but honestly I'm not feeling the holidays at all. Rapidly getting to "I really don't care" on them, as a matter of fact. It's hard to have the holiday spirit by myself.

Anyway...thanks Zimmy, as it turns out Scoote didn't have strep throat....just a sore throat and a cough to go along with her perpetually painful back. It's impacting all of her joints too, and really not sure what it is except that it makes her miserable and in pain virtually all of the time. I harassed her enough that she finally went to a doctor, who at least gave her pain pills and muscle relaxers, but her insurance denied her getting an MRI to see what's going on with her back. They can see the herniated disc on the x-ray, but beyond that...who knows? She'll be on my insurance come January 1, and hopefully we'll get her some better medical care as a result.

Glad you had fun at the parade Zimmy (and your new hairdo looks adorable by the way! :) ) I've decided "screw the grey hair" and I'm going to go get it dyed again today. I'm feeling ugly and undesirable enough at the moment without having grey hair to make me feel old too! :blink:

I have a bit of catching up to do for work today, but fortunately no conference calls...so maybe I'll actually get to do that. :)

Hugs my friend! I get all blah around Christmas more than Thanksgiving. I had to cut my hair, it was getting to long. What color are going to get your hair dyed? Have you looked into getting your hair highlighted? My gets blinde highlights and you can barely see her grey hair. If you decide to do that, have your stylist use a cap instead of foils. The cap gives you a better control of where the highlights go.

Jo, I feel for you! I have sleep problems as well. I have no trouble falling asleep but get woken up by pain three or four hours later. I hope you get some much deserved rest tonight!!!

It is so cold outside!!! I just came in from a walk, I got up the street to the main road and almost turned back when the artic blast hit me in the face and took my breathe away. So much for living in the Sunny South! Yeah right! It will only get to 38 tomorrow and still we will have the wind!

Oh I will have some hot chocolate its cold here to in NJ but I guess that its expected just put the heat up too to 70 to warm things up. the dogs got treats which is welcomed to say the least!! Kats too bad about the pain that you are having, are you taking lyrica that helps with the pain I think. I have trouble sleeping every night with the cpap machine and the sleep apnea and the fibro it never ends..

Waves back atcha!! Yes its brrrr and cold today, tomorrow and the next day. The sewing machine is fixed and I'm ready to sew some duds!! So I'm guessing that Florida has cold weather too can't get away from it. Too cold for me!!! Here in the deep South we just do not have the facilities or the tools to handle that level of cold. Homes are not built around here to withstand those temps either. So when we get cold we really are cold!!! Too! Sounds good to me but how do you make the brown gravy or make the gravy brown?? I always wondered about that, don't make gravy really don't know how to. Firstly, holy CRAP it is cold out there. Well truly it would not be so bad, it is the wind that is bringing the temps right down.. and as I told the store clerk last evening.. it has only just begun... however, for our area we are getting a late start into the season.. of course in grand tradition that will just mean our season will last longer into the New Year.. no early Spring here.. I surmise. laughs.

I hope everyone has had a peaceful start to the week... and of course today is that National Holiday we have all come to know and love... the National Holiday of Humpage... so if nothing else we are half way through the week.. and those that can partake of the holiday name.. well.. there you go.. grins.

well this pic I was heading west on I90 .. the roads were all clear.. to go pick up a load.. this was around 4?? 430pm it was sunny all day.. but this was the sun setting behind the next wave of snow storm clouds coming in..

Scoote is still sick....but I finally got a decent night's sleep...so at least one of us is feeling a little better. Still not too "Christmasey" around here, but we're getting there. Scoote brought Rooster some reindeer antlers on a headband and, being my son, he gleefully wore them around the house all evening. At one point he tried to adjust the angle, broke one off and (pretend) sobbed "I'm a bad reindeer." A little extra-strength glue stick and he was all put back together again though. :)

No leftovers last night kats...so you'll just have to come to dinner and elbow your way to the mashed potatoes like the rest of us. :) And Matthew...what can I say but :cold:

Yes its so cold just doing laundry and going to make some hot tea I think!! going back under the covers and keeping the heat on 70 degrees!! Who had the hot chocolate?? Ran the dishwasher and a measuring cup got stuck on the drying mechanism it smells like burnt plastic in here!! Yuck can't get it out either oh well...:blink:

You should see the collection we have started!

Thank you so much for breakfast! I was on my way down to my mom's shop to drop my old iPhone off to her for my brother, and I was engrossed in thinking about my anatomy lecture final, that I completely missed my exit, lol. I ended up having to drive another 12 miles and turning around. I knew I should have drank a cup of coffee before I left, but I didn't. Let me know when you go to Orlando, I am done with college next Thursday and maybe we can meet up and have a cup of coffee.

Love the picture of the kitten and the spoon! My mom's chichuahua might be pregnant and if she is, I am taking one of the puppies.

Well, Scoote read my post last night, and dragged me out of bed...we headed for Dairy Queen, but they were closed, so I had my first trip to Sonic...to eat a hot fudge sundae (still in my pajamas :) ). It was yum.

Today was our anniversary...so we left the kids at home and went to Bob Evans for breakfast (sausage gravy and biscuits), then a trip to the dog beach. Found a few shells, and gave Shadow a nice long walk (good for all of us). We dropped him off at home and headed up to another beach....but got surprised by suddenly dropping temperatures, rain and wind. Instead we changed plans and went to a little treasure-hunter's museum...all kinds of things found in shipwrecks and washed up on the beach around here. Now we're inspired to try a new beach and do some more treasure hunting. :)

Now I'm sitting here, trying to decide what to do about dinner...and Scoote is taking a nap. (Did I mention we walked a long way? :giggle: )

Found a few shells, and gave Shadow a nice long walk (good for all of us). We dropped him off at home and headed up to another beach....but got surprised by suddenly dropping temperatures, rain and wind. Instead we changed plans and went to a little treasure-hunter's museum...all kinds of things found in shipwrecks and washed up on the beach around here. Now we're inspired to try a new beach and do some more treasure hunting. :)

Now I'm sitting here, trying to decide what to do about dinner...and Scoote is taking a nap. (Did I mention we walked a long way? :giggle: )

Oh Yum with the blueberry pancakes but alas no blueberries this time of year except for frozen which are still good too. Got up early walked the dogs fixed breakfast of eggs and cheese, coffee toast to start the day early. Have to fill prescriptions so off to the pharmacy I go. However it is in a Stop and Shop supermarket so I will do a little shopping too. Thinking about making some delicious christmas cookies for all here in the kitchen. Butter cookies to be exact but don't know which ones yet..have a great day all..

I don't have class tomorrow, so I don't have to drive almost 80 miles roundtrip tomorrow and it is supposed to be even colder tomorrow...

Good Morning all been up since early this morning and just had a little snack of almond butter and bread yum it was good. Gave some to the dogs and they liked fine, thinking about making dog biscuits for the holidays for the dogs of course and as a treat to them..need a biscuit cutter shaped like a bone.

I hope all you guys are enjoying this cold weather we are having brrr its too cold for me. Walked dogs early and was freezing wish the days of summer was here again..can't wait for spring!! Thanks Zimmy...Scoote's back is still hurting, but the doctor gave her a stronger prescription last time she was in, and it seems to be helping a little bit at least. She's still not comfortable, but seems to be sleeping a little better...and that always helps.

The Prince is home sick today, Rooster is off to school, and I've vowed to clean up at least a little of my "office mess." I had to work right up until packing day in NY, so shoved some office stuff into boxes, thinking I'd sort through it once we got settled....then worked off of Scoote's kitchen table (nightmare) for more than a month, and all that got shoved into boxes too. End result is I have 3 boxes of assorted paperwork that needs to be either filed or shredded or acted on....and I need to get started on it since it's making me :seeingstars:

By the way, last time Scoote stayed in a hotel for work she brought me back the tiny lotion that was in the room (cuz I love those :) ...so handy for the purse). It's Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy - Orange Ginger and ooooooohhhh it's nice.

Hope Scoote gets to feeling better and soon! When you and I do get a chance to have lunch or coffee, I will gladly bring you a tube of hand lotion from my stash. I live by hand cream and I always have to have it in my purse. Has Scoote tried Aleve to help with the inflammation? I know when my back starts to hurt, I found that works better than prescription meds.

Yes, I would. I love chicken marsala and I don't have a good recipe.

3 Tbsp whole wheat flour
3 Tbsp white flour
1\4 tsp white pepper
1 - 1\2 lb chicken cutlets <fresh>
3 c sliced mushrooms
2 Tbsp thinly sliced shallots
1\2 c Marsala wine <located in the sauce aisle>
1\2 c low sodium chicken broth
2 Tbsp chopped parsley
1\2 tsp chopped fresh Thyme leaf

Directions:
-in a shallow bowl, combine flours and pepper
-dredge chicken in mixture and set aside
-lightly coat a lg nonstick skillet with cooking spray and heat on medium high
-add chicken and sauté until lightly crowned, 2-3 minutes per side
-remove cutlets to a plate and keep warm

-add mushrooms and shallots to pan, stir for 1-2 minutes
-add wine to pan. Reduce to a glaze, scraping any loose brown bits from bottom of pan
-reduce heat and add broth, parsley, and Thyme. Stir, cook until broth reduces by half

-return chicken to pan and simmer for 5 minutes

Serve hot.

Make it a meal:

-mash 1\2 c boiled red bliss potatoes <leave the skin on>, with 1 Tbsp fat free cream cheese, 1 Tbsp skim milk, and salt & pepper

I omitted the salt and used extra virgin olive oil and it was yummy!

My breakfast so far this morning is hot tea with lots of lemon...trying to get a little unclogged and to soothe my throat. I was doing the warm saltwater gargle last night...disgusting but effective.

The good news is that after work today I am officially off for 11 days....and I work for a company that seriously wants you to take your time off and not even check email so woooooo hoooooo! My breakfast so far this morning is hot tea with lots of lemon...trying to get a little unclogged and to soothe my throat. I was doing the warm saltwater gargle last night...disgusting but effective.

The good news is that after work today I am officially off for 11 days....and I work for a company that seriously wants you to take your time off and not even check email so woooooo hoooooo! Good Morning folks hope you are all having a good start to the day and are on mend from whatever ales you!! Jo the saltwater gargle is good for sore throats and effective too...sounds like your week off you will be relaxing any beach time in there?? Just wondering...I have to clean up the kitchen and the sink since there is dishes in there and all. I broke another glass in the dishwasher I don't know what I am doing but soon there will be no glasses left let alone plates AI break those too. I guess I am clutsy like that well I'm sneezing too I hoep it just allergies and nothing more..the dog wants out wish I had a doggie door so he could go out by himself, it would be nice sighs :(

I am watching Elijah today and tomorrow I am taking my Avon orders to my customers and no plans so far for Sunday. I'm thinking of going up to michael's and pick up a sketch pad to start that three point drawing I said I would do after I finished my classes.

I was just telling one of My friends yesterday.. that has always been one thing that I will spend big money on.. because not only the length that they last.. however, also because of the wear and tear our feet take every single day. Nods.. I have a Kenneth Cole messenger bag.. and it looks and smells like I bought it yesterday and it is about 5 years old now.. love his stuff..

I have to do a bit of grocery shopping at some point today.. and I was going to do laundry as well.. really I want to do neither.. laughs..

Speaking of baking.. I went crazy yesterday.. given I do not bake and decided to make the cake mix (red velvet) that I had in the cupboard..laughs.. it actually turned out good..and I made a double layer because I could not find My long baking pan.. so I was worried...Also did movie night last night with My gay guy friend Rich.. he tried the cake and said it was good.. I think he was just being nice.. grins..

I also had another friend stop over.. who repierced My cartilage in My left ear. I took the barbell out about 3 weeks ago.. and it closed.. I could not believe it.. because I have had it pierced for a long time.. so I had to bite the bullet (literally..laughs). and had her just put a need through.. I know what you thinking.. I am crazy.. laughs

yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah for the drawing.. I hope you do it... I can not wait to see it when it is done.. smiles..

Good Morning You,

I made my mom a loaf of banana bread yesterday and took it easy. My favorite pair if shoes from his company are my cedar wood wedges and my knee length boots. I kept them in the original boxes until I moved to Seattle. But they are wrapped up and in storage containers to keep them clean. Dust doesn't look good on patent leather.

I've never had the cartilage pierced in my ears, but when I was 16 my cousin took and froze my ear lobes and pierced them with a hat pin. The left ear didn't hurt, but the right ear wasn't iced enough, so I know what you mean about that kind of pain.

I found baking is relaxing and so is shopping. Red velvet cake is yummy, but my German chocolate...

I will post a picture of the drawing when I finish it.

Today it was raining all day here in GA, very cold and miserable weather. I did take my daily walk though and oh boy what a nut I am to walk in that weather. So that being said I could sure use a nice large cutsie mug of hot chocolate with marshmellows please!!!

I have a recipe for home made hot chocolate that I would love to cook up for ya'll. I buy unsweet chocolate (preferrably the kind from South America), add sugar or sugar substitute, milk, boil it up slowly. Take off the heat, then set it back to boil up again. Then stir it (actually one holds the heavy stick with both palms and twist it back and forth quickly) with this wooden utensil one can find in Hispanic grocery stores; wooden and works up a great foam! Drink up everyone!!!

Please stay warm, dry and as healthy as possible!!! Crawing back under the covers with a good book!

By the time I got everything put away, it was to late. If I have coffee late at night I won't sleep, but will be wired up.

I don't like rude people and that is why I usually shop first thing in the morning. You got it!!! My mom gave him all if my 2 year old nephew's baby clothes. I moved in with my best friend to help her out, but I'm having a really hard time finding a job here and that is why I'm moving back to Orlando. I'm going to continue my education even when I do get a job.

Uh Oh the stomach flu is it going around?? feel better drink some hot tea and crackers or dry toast that will help ya!! I just had my morning tea it is something I do around 11 am everyday and I'm liking it..lipton that is all with creme and splenda!! Yum could go for a second cup even my dog likes tea he got a little that spilled into his bowl hehe!! Just a lazy morning around these parts with cold weather settling in. Tomorrow I go to the doctor for the sleep apnea and see what she says about mask, machine etc..going to sew some today and finish off pants for the cozy winter weather then starting on a shirt to go with!! have a great day everyone..

:bringcoffee: Sorry you're feeling sick Zimmy...drink lots of water and get as much rest as you can. I've still got this yicky cough, but did at least manage to sleep in a bit this morning, so that's good. Now I'm just relaxing on the couch, watching TV and having some coffee and toast.

I'm watching the movie Australia...makes me laugh. I love the scenery because it reminds me so much of when I lived in Queensland....but watching Nicole Kidman put her foot on a steer to hold it down while she brands it with a hot iron....LOL...yea right. Too funny.

We did a little Christmas shopping yesterday and I got everything I needed to be someone's (not too) secret Santa...just love that. :) It's all packed up and will go tomorrow...probably UPS so she has it in time. Then, off to the movies to see Tron...not what I expected but the Rooster and the Prince enjoyed it. Next on the list is the new Narnia movie...maybe tomorrow.

Chickens are almost done roasting and smell really good....have water on to cook the corn on the cob...and no idea if there will be anything else....might just be chicken, corn on the cob and bread & butter. My grandmother's idea of the perfect supper.

The call in nurse of my health insurance guided me to a diabetic-safe mucinex product....which is helping...but is also making me feel about half drunk (as she warned me might happen). I can see why she said "DON'T DRIVE" :giggle: Never fear....I think I can roast chickens in this state...and that's as dangerous as it gets around here tonight. :)

Zimmy, glad to hear you managed some soup....that's the best choice when you're feeling bad....warm, liquid...and hey, it's chicken soup! My inner Jewish grandma approves!

I am feeling better today, but I still cannot eat anything. I got a C+ in my anatomy class, woohoo! To bad I can't eat anything or I would be having a bowl of ice cream!

You can't keep anything down yet oh wow that is too bad, and it must be a bad stomach flu for that to happen hope you are feeling better soon. WEll its night time already the day goes by so fast in winter yuck an its cold too very cold out there and I need notions for my sewing so it will have to be tomorrow and salad too for tonights dinner, dogs ate so that is good, will snuggle in bed tonight for a long winter's nap, I just hibernate until springtime which I hope gets here soon...

Salads are always good for lunch or dinner. I love organic vinaigrette dressings made with olive oil.

Hopefully my oldest nephew will be here to celebrate his 14th birthday, which is January 4th. I cannot believe the little bugger is going to be 14. I'm getting old, hehe.

That Mucinex is great isn't it!! Making A CAKE with chocolate frosting for dessert and as a treat in bundt pan so I just slide it out and be done with it then frost for later on. Long day today, but productive...ordered some patio furniture, got a few last minute gifts, mailed out packages that need to be there by the holiday, did some running around for Scoote at work....then home again to make homemade cream of chicken and rice soup and baked a banana cake. Now the laundry is in....and I'm about out of steam.

I'm so impressed by all of your artistic efforts, and hope I get to see them...I think you should post pics in the gallery! Hi Kats...good to see you again...I'm still working on taking digital pics of all the kittys for you. :)

I cleaned my kitchen from top to bottom today and cleaned my bathroom, to get rid if the germs in my house. Elijah is still sick and I told Lisa she needs to take him to the hospital if he doesn't get better by tonight.

I totally agree! He's at his aunt's house today. When I was at the Avon open house in November, there was a rep selling the cookies for her daughter's school. I ordered a tub of chocolate chip.

I cleaned my whole house today and opened all of the windows to air it out. I went to pick up a can of Lysol, and it was $6.99. I nearly fell over in the store aisle. That is way to expensive!

Good Morning Everyone!! Just finishing up breakfast and going to get ready for the dentist later on yucko not a good feeling going to the dentist at all. I don't like someone probing around my mouth..anyway its a cold start to the day and I have chores to run. LIke getting food before the holiday arrives just regular stuff though no big items which is good. I actually slept in a bit today (almost unheard of), which felt good. Didn't get out of bed until after 9:30....now just perusing the planet while I have some coffee, finish laundry, make my sweetie some jello...and make a list of what else I need to accomplish before Christmas. I'm so glad I took this week off of work!

Rooster and I had fun yesterday....when we moved down here part of the agreement was that we'd get annual passes for Disney. So, we can go whenever we want...and hop around the parks. We went to Hollywood Studios first, but it was a bit crowded (and one of Rooster's favorite rides was closed to be redone and upgraded)....so headed over to Animal Kingdom (my favorite). While the crowds were gathering for the parade, we ran over to Kali River Rapids and ...hurray!...only a 10 minute wait. We had the best ride ever....and got completely soaked to the skin. Even the folks who wore rain ponchos in our raft got soaked! :giggle: I'm really an overgrown kid at Disney....so I was laughing my head off.

I hope everyone had a peaceful day. I had My ultrasound today.. and am hoping for the results tomorrow. (this is the follow up to the mammo). I spoke with My doctor and she said if I did not hear from the ultrasound place tomorrow or her office.. to call her directly and she would call and get the results or find out the status of where they were at. She is a wonderful doctor.. and given the mammo results fell threw the cracks..she is 100% on this follow up thing. So, we shall see.

I had great plans of cleaning out My spare closet and getting that organized.. however, that did not happen. By the time I got home from the appointment and other errands.. I was in no frame of mind to organize.. which is unheard of for Me.. laughs. So, tomorrow it will happen.

Ok, I am off to make some dinner.. it is going to be soft tacos this eve. Then later.. some french pressed goodness and Top Chef.

I hope everyone has a peaceful ending to their day as well.

Yes brrr its cold so cold I rushed the dogs for their morning walk poor fellas but you have to do what you have to do. HOping to sell and move to Florida by Spring time and enjoy the summer weather down there and the beachtime too:beachkids:Anyway its breakfast time for me. I have to go and get the CMA book to study for my exam coming up soon. So off the Barnes and NObles on Route 17 yuck its a horrible road to take all highway and the people are rude and obnoxious..have a great day Zimmy and others..

How's the pets doing?? GLAD you got your insurance issues straightened out that is a good and positive thing!! I did laundry and went to the grocery store for a few things now going to set down with a cup of tea and some fruit I think cause I'm hungry..hope you are enjoying your day...

That's the real answer to Jake's question...what I'd love to give you all for Christmas is a nice holiday get-together when I can over-feed everyone! :giggle:

It feels funny for Christmas Eve...warm and sunny outside (well, cold to Floridians, warm to me still :) ), and I still need to clean house and wrap gifts. We haven't put anything under the tree yet because the kittens are on a perpetual search and destroy mission for anything that moves, sparkles....or even just sits there.

Sorry that poor Elijah had to wait so long and then be scared by Santa. Rooster used to get scared when he was small too....then loved it once he got the idea that Santa brought the presents on Christmas morning. He used to have some very earnest conversations with the mall Santa, that always made me smile.

A Merry Christmas to everyone here today and tomorrow even though its not my holiday its seems like it on here lol...NOt doing much of anything today but watching tv and relaxing until tonight then its services time and tomorrow I volunteer my time at a nursing home should be fun, sing songs, make crafts maybe there will be cake and cookies I don't know what they have for the workers/volunteers hopefully coffee I will need it. Jo good luck on the wrapping and the kittens not opening anything. Cats like the christmas tree to climb I know that much and shiney things too....have a great day everyone..
