:bringcoffee: Good afternoon everyone :)

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_PX7WXTPW2PY/TPkrQkOfrjI/AAAAAAAAAq0/UZJUsDPo2b4/s400/Christmas%2Bcookies.jpg

Well Scoote and the Prince are both napping....Rooster is playing new games....I finally got in touch with my friend Annie....the ham is baking, as are the sweet potatoes...and I'm getting hungry! :eating:

The menu for dinner is baked ham, sweet potatoes (baked with butter, brown sugar and orange juice), mashed potatoes, sweet corn and fresh green beans. If I get ambitious this evening I'll be making a fresh lemon meringue pie for my sweetie (haven't made one in ages....)

Santa was good to me....a spa day with massage, facial and mani/pedi, a bottle of Baileys, a talking Tinkerbelle for the dash of my car, an avocado tree to plant in the front yard, Tinkerbelle pj's, a stocking full of naughty goodies that I'll have to eat in moderation.....yes, life is good today. :)

Hope you all are having a Merry Christmas!

Thank you Zimmy...we're heading towards the airport later this afternoon to get the Rooster headed back to NY. He's happy to be seeing his granny, dad and "sister"....and he's a brand new uncle at the age of 13....so he's excited to see his nephew who's only a week old. :)

I'm nervous about putting him on the plane alone, but it's a non-stop flight and we get to take him right to the gate, so I'm sure he'll be fine. He's not worried at all, of course. All I need to do is get him packed and ready...and his father is going to have to bring his snow gear to the airport since it's only about 20 degrees up there and snow on the ground.

It's windy here today...Mabel can't decide if she wants to be outside or in. :giggle: Looks like she's settled on cuddling in with the Prince, who is still asleep.

We thought about getting up early this morning and going to the beach, but didn't make it. Yesterday afternoon, we all went to the dog beach with Shadow...had a wonderful walk and some of the best seashell hunting we've had....came home with bags of whelks and many others, including some rare finds. I just love the seashell hunting...and how fun to be able to do that on Christmas day! :)

scoote, I hope you are continuing to take work in stride My friend.. and let us hope that the New Year brings about some changes in that area.. and I hope that your back is fairing better than it was...

Zimmy.. My friend.. all I have is this.. :| as to the ice sculpture thing.. grins.. hugs you..

morning.. I hope you are not getting snowed in up there.. given you are further North than I..

I was trying to give the baby a winter like I had when I was 15 and living up in Michigan. Then, my silky self decided to go power walking tonight, and the temp is 29 degrees with the wind. Needless to say, one of my jackets is wet and my body is froze! I need some chili tonight to warm me up!

Keep warm,

We did have a wonderful day yesterday...The universe gave Jo the best shelling day yet,and the water wasnt even that cold once you got used to it...we were gonna get up at the buttcrack of dawn and go this morning, but thank goodness we changed our minds bc 29 is just too cold to be on the beach...however by midweek its supposed to start warming up a bit so hopefully we will get some beachtime then.

Well i have been sitting here awhile and no sign of Jo and Rooster so i better go see if i can find them...Thought i was in a spot they could see me,but maybe not...

anyway if i dont get back tonight hope everyone stays warm and has a good evening

Good Evening My friend,

nods.. I know what you mean about biting one's tongue..

laughs @ a new butt crack.. ummmmm.. you need to come up here.. if you want to talk about cold.. and the wind is just making it moreso. I am good with snow.. it is the cold and wind that I can not tolerate anymore.

I wish we had been friends when I was living there a couple of years ago.. you and I hanging out.. would have probably even made the summers more bearable.. laughs. I hear you on the sea-shelling.. I still have a bag of the ones I picked up when I lived out west and went camping on the Oregon coast. Just looking at them brings back alot of memories. I am glad you both had a good "finding" day.

Well, I hope you found Jo and Rooster.. it is never good to lose your girl and one of the chicklets (nods, that is My words for children).. laughs.

Stay warm.. and I hope Rooster has a good flight.

As Always,
Jake

Zimmy---so far so good..he has a direct flight into Syracuse...i know Boston got shut down, and was reading bout all the snow up in those parts...crazy how much there is...kind of an early start for winter isnt it?

I am sitting at security just waiting. Jo got to go all way to gate with Rooster and his flight doesnt leave till 7:45...i sure hope there arent any problems. I know he is excited to go see his brand new nephew and the rest of the family. Its a big step for both Jo and Rooster...this is the first flight on his own and of course she is just worried to death about him being so far away...luckily her mom and best friend is on speed dial if needed.

dammit i wish my eyesight was better bc theres nothing like coming to the airport and people watching...

ok guess ill go peruse the site and see if i can get into some trouble

Hi again,

I am two hours south of Syracuse.. and we are just getting a dusting.. so I am thinking Rooster's flight is going to be good...I just looked up the weather for in that area.. and the snow seems to be grazing the coast.. and not so much coming westward where I am at.. and Syracuse, etc.

It is not really early.. for it...we usually start off in December.. and then January and February are the truly rough months..we usually get hit with atleast 2-3 storms within that period.. on top of the bitter cold itself.. nods..

If there is trouble to get into.. let Me know.. I might want to join you.. grins..

Jake

asfor the flight..its on a slight delay i think bc flight crew was coming in from JFK which of course is closed....luckily i got my laptop,my debit card and a food court so ill be good to go for awhile...

we have a TON of shells....i need to take them down to the keys and over to the gulf coast...ive been to both...found a few shark teeth on the gulf and some wonderful conchs in the keys....Florida is definitely a beautiful place...

speaking of biting ones tongue...one of Jo's family members posted about biting theirs on FB my response was"biting your tongue is like holding in a fart...it only serves to hurt you"....:cracked: unfortunately if i dont i'd likely get another time out and those arent fun...anyway think im gonna head over to McDs and get an overpriced chocolate shake....i'll grab one for u as well my friend :)

Good morning everyone :)

Jake, I wish you lived closer...I can just imagine the trouble you and Scoote would get into! :seeingstars: And I do love the shelling...we're addicted.

Well, as you heard, Rooster's flight was cancelled...we had a perfectly good plane waiting for us, but no crew to fly it since they were all stuck in NY and Boston. Ironic since the Syracuse airport was open and it was a direct flight...but can't go without the crew. He has to fly direct, so the next chance was Tuesday...means he has a much shorter visit than he originally planned, but nothing to be done about it.

Scoote had to work today, including her district meeting...poor thing. Lucky me gets to sit here with coffee and an onion bagel (toasted with butter....yummy :eating: ) and watching TV. I am being good though, and am getting the laundry done at least! :giggle:

Zimmy, are you near Orlando or are you further north? I'd love to meet at Starbucks or something for a cup of coffee on one of these Orlando runs...

Lips, sorry to hear you're snowed in...used to hate that...but please do put paper down for the puppies, poor things! Our little dog hated the snow...he's just built too low to the ground to deal with it. I used to shovel him a "potty path" so he could get out easily to do his business. :dog:

Really that's what I should do shovel him a potty path but its so cold the poor things won't even go out there they are just holding it and I feel bad...too bad about your son's flight but yes we got a lot of snow yesterday its like two feet..I can't believe it I can't even shovel it its impossible to do so. I'm just waiting until it warms up and then shovel on Wed or thursday but I will get a fine for not cleaning the sidewalk oh well...

Hey Jo Jo,

I live about an hour north of Orlando, and I would love to meet up. My niece and nephew will be here for nine days. Let me know a couple of days in advance and I will be there. There is a Starbucks location on Kirkman Road and Vineland Road near universal studios.

Hope Rooster has a safe flight when he get's to leave. I can imagine the fun Jake and Scoote would have together.

Have fun today, the kids are showing me how to create ppl on their PSP.

Hugs,

Zimmy

Good Evening My friends,

There will definately be a visit.. however, I do not know I would never move back.. just too hot for Me.. and given the hot involves humidity.. mutters.. Given how far North I am.. one would think there would be no humidity up here.. that is so not the case.. and down in Florida it is triple-fold.. I am delicate and would melt again... grins.

Jo, I can only say... you should be afraid.. very, very afraid.. laughs. Also, when I do get down that way for a visit.. shelling will most assuredly have to be on our agenda of things to do.. nods.

Hope you both are having a peaceful evening...

Big Hugs.
Jake

Jake...too bad you dont live closer...would be cool to hang out..perhaps a visit someday!

Good Evening you,

Left overs sound great.. what is on the menu? I am contemplating making chicken stir-fry... however, I just woke from a nap a bit ago.. and given I wake up slowly it might be 8pm before dinner is even started.. laughs. Perhaps, I should skip it.. and just launch into some french pressed goodness and gingerbread men.

What do you think?

Big Hugs.

Jake you drink that french pressed goodness and you will be up all night but the gingerbread men are definitly on the agenda..as for dinner it was homemade soup with chicken and pasta in it and it was good and warm..phew I'm beat shoveling and what not and dealing with the dogs crying to go outside all day and not able to until Wed or Thurs when it melts some in the back yard.. have a nice night everyone..

Good evening everyone :)

I browned some thin-sliced pork chops, layered them over basmati rice, sprinkled salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic, poured some chicken broth over top, covered it in foil and slid it in the oven. It smells good, but it's taking longer than expected (and I'm hungry!) :eating: I've got homemade bread rising in the pans, so that will go in soon....and ready to steam some broccoli and carrots. Once that's all done, dinner will be served.

I'll take a cup of that coffee though Jake :bringcoffee: ...as long as you don't mind if I put in a dollop of Bailey's. :giggle:

My nephew will be turning 14 on January 4th, we are having a birthday party for him this weekend.

Thank you for the coffee! It will help keep me awake when I drive home tonight after babysitting. I might have a piece of homemade carrot cake for dessert tonight.

some of you are going shelling?? is that like looking for shells on the beach?? lol
i use to love doing that..... my favorite area to look is on the gulf side of Fla.. sooo much more fun things to find. and best time is right after a thunder /windy storm and the tides it out... :)

ok left overs..... we had christmas at my brothers and well didnt have much left overs to get.. lol ... guess it was a good thing.... but ummm i kinda miss having some left over turkey..
if im home for new yrs weekend ... i am going to make something outside on the smoker.... every yr since the mid 80's i have made on new yrs day .. a whole beef brisket.. texas style.. and a red skin tater salad.. black eye peas.. , and other side items.... i felt it was a great change of pace from the more common holiday meats like turkey and ham.. which seems like a lot of sick of by the time new yrs rolls around.. lol and seemd refreshing a good way to start of a new yr. :)
now where is my mimosa ?? .... lol

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you all slept well and had a wonderful start to your day.

MS, that sounds very good! I don't eat a lot of red meat, but I would enjoy that.

I had a blast hanging out with my two nieces and nephew lastnight. I didn't get home until 11:45pm. I am not going to Miami this weekend, we are having a birthday party for my nephew. I cannot believe he is turning 14 next Tuesday. He wants to go to college and become an engineer, which made me happy! I also split a small bag of Hershey's miniatures with my ten year old niece yesterday.

Coffee is served!

Have fun today,

:bringcoffee: I'm making toast from the homemade bread, spreading on the butter and mmmmmmm.... anyone else care for a slice? I have such a weakness for homemade, fresh bread. :giggle:

We try the airport for Rooster again this afternoon...hope his flight, and his visit, go alright. This is his first solo flight and visit, so it's a big step at 13.

Scoote is off work today and still :alarm: Hopefully she'll get a good rest. Her back has been bothering her a lot, and it makes it hard for her to really sleep well. I'm still fighting this silly cold (the joys of diabetes...makes it hard to shake any infection or illness), but luckily Rooster went through it in a couple days and is back to normal. I just kept filling him full of orange juice and Airborne, and that seemed to do the trick.

Hope you're all having a good day...and staying warm!

good evening kitcheneers...guess where i am....thats right...the damn airport again....as we are driving in Jo and Rooster are thinking maybe its not a madhouse bc the first level parking wasnt full....perhaps wishful thinking on their part(me i expected the worse--that way im not disappointed...we get to top of escalator and BAM a gazillion ppl....we get to the JetBLue line--it is packed...Jo looks up as im walking off and calls me back to inform mme Roosters 7:40 flight is delayed til 9:27.......grrrrrrrr i lost it just a bit...granted its not Jo or Roosters fault but dammit the airlines need a better system in place to alert passengers and their families of things like this.....anyway maybe next yr we need to have Rooster RETURNING around xmas day or right after insztead of heading out...who knows

soooo anyway i am now popping pills for my back and people watching...gonna be a long 3 hrs im sure......matter fact while i was waiting for them to get checked in their was this family standing near me(i think flying out off country thru jfk) their flight got canceled and next one wasnty til Jan 7th.......so i giess 2 hrs aint so bad afterall huh

hope everyone is having a good evening....and im sure ill be back in a bit :)

Good Morning Everyone,

Let the celebration commence! I am one year older and I will always be a Toys R Us kid! I just gave my oldest niece three of my dolls from my Snow White collection. Her eyes lit up and she promised to never remove them from the box. I've had them for over fifteen years. She hasn't seen the last one my dad bought me before he passed away. When she gets older I will give it to her.

For breakfast this morning, how about pancakes, French toast, eggs, corned beef hash, coffee <French pressed and brewed>, tea and soda for Scoote.

Have fun and I am off to have a cup of coffee and yogurt.

I'm exhausted....Rooster's flight finally went at 11 p.m. (originally scheduled for 7:40). It was looking bad for awhile, and he was getting quite disappointed that it would be cancelled again...but at last they "found" us a plane and they were off. He arrived safely at 1:40 this morning, and finally I could go to sleep (after getting home about 1 a.m.) Of course the alarm went off at 7:45 and I'm trying to get caught up at work after my days off :seeingstars:

Good evening all :)

Got work done, then laid down with Scoote for a bit...too tired to cook and coughing too much to feel like going out, so my sweetie is zooming off to McDonald's to get me a Big Mac and fries for dinner. Very naughty, but sounds so good right now. Damn I love that woman! :love1:

Jake and Matthew...what a great idea to have a little cake and coffee here for our Zimmy! :) You guys are sweeties...I knew it!

Good Evening Jo,

I think given what you all have been though the last couple of days.. trying to get Rooster off on that plane.. you both need to stay home.. eat some sinful McDonald's (which sounds good to Me NOW.. thank you.. laughs)... and just enjoy some quiet..

Ok.. you need to keep that sweetie business quiet.. (looks around).. because well you know.. I am the Mr. Prickly Porcupine.. grins..

My only other wish.. would be that I would like to be in Florida right now.. because we could have all gotten together for Zimmy's birthday.. I would have cooked us a fabulous Italian meal.. and then we could have enjoyed coffee and cake... in each other's company..

I hope that coughing takes a hike soon for you.. and I am glad Rooster was finally able to fly up this way.. and finish off his holiday..

Hugs to you both.

As Always,
Jake

ps. I am enjoying some french pressed goodness as we speak.. sans cake.

Good Evening you,

That salad sounds great.. I am a huge fan of antipasto.. which is similar in some way to a greek salad..

A shame you got home to late to make the Chicken Marsala.. however, there is always tomorrow evening.. smiles.

I think given it is the Day of your Birth.. you should just eat cake all night.. and call it dinner.. and then have it again tomorrow morning for breakfast.. grins.. with some french pressed goodness.. yes?

Big Hugs.
Jake

It had jalapeno peppers, feta cheese, Kalamato olives, ham and Genoa salami.

I gave it to my stepdad, I won't eat the rest of it.

I am thinking of making Chicken Marsala for dinner and having cake for dessert.

My birthday cake was delicious! I bought the chocolate lovers delight cake from Publix, it was good but very sweet. I need a huge cup of French pressed coffee now, please Jake....

I got a wonderful present from my two nieces. They both used the pottery wheel for kids and made me this cute bowl with their initials on it.

I'm blessed with wonderful friends and lovely nieces and nephews.

Sweet dreams to all of you,

And your idea sounds great. I'd even volunteer to bake the cake. :chef2:

Good morning everyone! :bringcoffee:

I flaked out early yesterday evening and watched tv from the bed...didn't actually get to sleep until late though. Somehow Scoote and I got to watching nature documentaries about the Florida everglades and the introduced species (like pythons and cane toads) and what's being done about them. Very interesting...but I think the python hunters are a bit insane...trudging through waist-deep alligator infested waters to hunt giant snakes? Ummm...no thanks!

Hope you all had a good evening...and I'm watching for smoke from up north....just in case Zimmy has trouble with that french press. :giggle:

Good Morning Jo,

ummmmm... you would be correct about that.. .. smiles... I KNEW you could keep My secret.. you are the best.. and yes the idea of all of us getting together is definately something that has to happen this coming year.. not only would I love to see you both... and Zimmy.. it would also be a great vacation as well..

Ok.. and I am going to agree wholeheartedly with the python.. thing.. NO thank you.. laughs..

Yes, we must watch Zimmy when it comes to that French Pressed experiment.. she is all excited. She actually bought the one that I have.. it is one that is sold in Target.. I use it when I go camping/backpacking. However, I have used it in My home.. because it is small and makes 3 cups of coffee. The other french presses I own are bigger than that.. all the way up to an 8 cup maker. I am so proud of her.. she is finally going to be converted.. laughs

I hope you and scoote have a peaceful day..

The pot comes with a little spoon that you spoon the coffee in but it calls for coarse ground coffee and then I guess you tweak it until you get the right results of coffee that you like..I don't know but I guess Starbucks French Roast will work..I got to the grocery store tomorrow and will try to find coarse ground coffee then..

The French roast coffee is an extra bold coffee that I normally only use two scoops in a five cup coffee maker. If your not used to a bold coffee , try the house blend.

JakeTulane

Hi lipstix,

As far as the coffee goes.. you pretty much can use whichever brand and whichever coarseness you like. The fine the grind.. the easier it is for the coffee to dissolve in the hot water.. and to be pressed to the bottom. Obviously the more coarse the longer it takes for the coffee to dissolve, etc. I use Starbucks House or Morning blends for the flavor.. and the grind of it is "fine". I also use Tim Horton's.. and the grind of that coffee is not as "fine" as the Starbucks. So really any brand of coffee can be used.. what it will boil down to.. is how it tastes to you in the end. you may have to play with it and tweak it as to how much you use when you put the coffee in.. and as I said previous the grind of the coffee will matter as well.

For Me in the end.. I found I like the Starbucks and Tim Hortons that I mentioned above.. and also there is an old school coffee brand called 5 O'Clock coffee... that My Mom suggested I try.. so I have all three of those in My freezer and use whichever I want at any given time.

I hope once you figure out what works for you.. that you truly like how much better to coffee tastes being made with a french press. I would never go back to any other way of preparing it.. besides I like the ritual of it as well.

Take Care
Jake

Good Evening you,

Ok.. seriously.. that did make Me laugh.. and I can only guess.. the water was not hot enough.. so when you do it tomorrow morning.. make sure the water is boiling in the tea kettle. I would try that before you bother having the coffee ground down more.. because if the water is not hot enough it will not "cook" the coffee.. so that totally makes sense. Still funny.. nonetheless. grins.

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Hope Zimmy got that french press worked out...a morning without coffee? Yikes!

I'm getting a late start today...was up coughing so hard from 4 to 5:30 a.m. that I just wore myself out. Joys of working from home and the job I have...I was able to set the alarm back another hour and try to get a bit more rest. I have definitely pulled or strained something in my upper back from all the coughing though...it's very sore, no matter what position I sit in.

Scoote has a long, tough day at work today...guess everyone wants pizza on New Year's Eve.

Spoke to the Rooster yesterday and he's having fun....and my mother, who scared us with a trip to the hospital (turned out she has some complications from her Crohn's and got very dehydrated). It was an interesting day.

Now for a cup of coffee, and to get seriously stuck into this mess on my desk. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful day...and be safe if you go out to celebrate tonight! :cheer:

Just got back from the grocery store wow it really was crowded but that is typical for this area with so many people in it and around it..The dog is so cute he found a way to get into the backyard by going on top of the snow yes he is walking on the snow to go pee and potty so good for him!! more power to the little guy he sure does like his backyard :(

I still have to unload the stuff but taking a little break from it, it was many bags of food I'm stocked even with salt too, for the walk but really need it for the driveway and steps..ok I took long enough of a break back to work for me..Have a safe and Happy New Year!!

Good Morning You,

Good Afternoon Jo,

Still with the cough? are you taking just over the counter stuff? or have you seen a Doc? nods.. not getting a good sleep is beyond frustrating.. just puts you in a fowl mood for the next day.. on top of just being exhausted. I hope you feel better soon. smiles.

Glad Rooster is enjoying himself.. after everything you all had to go through to get him here. Today it is like Spring.. you would not believe it.. I have the heat off and the windows open.. just crazy.. which also means there will be alot more party people out there later... nods.

I hope you and scoote are having a good day.. and keep drinking that tea (or drink more if you are not.. grins)..

Hugs

As Always,
Jake

:cheer:

So I went out a second time and this time I hit some snow or mound or something and the battery went dead so I pulled into a side street and some nice guy pushed me closer and I called road side assist for a tow and the police but since I was in the street I had to get a police tow which cost ouch 150.00 dollars to tow one block to the gas station to get fixed...probably won't get done until Monday because of the holiday.. we are safe the dogs were with me thank G-d for that..and the police too were there protecting me..its enough with g-d damn snow already wish I lived in Florida already this wouldn't happen... I hope that nothing serious is wrong with the car I need it to get around.. will have to walk back to get it so I will sew for the days inside the house and take walks, the dogs will be happy...

Heya You,

I am thinking it is the coffee. I followed all of Your directions and it still came out wrong. I also slept so-so, thanks to Lisa's 16 year old niece and my 13 year old nephew bunking in my room lastnight. I am thinking cliff notes would be helpful for me and thank You!

I had fun shopping with my two nieces today, I picked up some lavender hand cream for myself and the girls picked up some apple hand cream. My day is as bright as this gorgeous Florida Sunshine!

Hugs my friend and I am glad to make you giggle...

Have your mechanic check the battery cables and the motor mounts. When I hit a huge pot hole last year, I broke the top motor mount. Thankfully it will cost me only $65 for both pieces of the motor mount.

Keep warm,

Good Evening you,

nods. I agree as to the coffee. The grind does make a difference as does the temperature of the water itself. Hopefully when you try the other grind of coffee it will work.. or I am thinking I would have to fly down there.. on an emergency mission to make sure get to partake of said goodness. laughs.

I love lavender. The only place I really use it.. is if I take a bath versus a shower. I also use it when I do a foot soak too. My favorite is a sleepy time bath that is made by Johnson & Johnson's which is actually baby bath stuff... laughs. However, it smells great and makes My skin soft.

awwwww.. I am glad your day has been so bright.. those are the days we all look forward to having.. smiles.

I am off to get My spaghetti out of the water.. and have a late dinner.. some of those brownies you made recently would be great for a dessert... OR.. if you have any leftover birthday cake.. hint hint...

Big Hugs.

As Always,
Jake

Good morning and Happy New Year everyone! :)

I stayed up long enough to kiss my sweetie at midnight, but then faded fast...too much coughing. I'm taking my Mucinex, which is helping...and drinking tea with lots of lemon. It's clearing up, but very stubborn. I think it's the move...new local variation of germs for my immune system to deal with.

I think it would be great if you came down to visit Jake! We could get Zimmy to come down our way too, and we could all do some shelling, maybe a little treasure hunting (we're called the Treasure Coast for a reason :beachkids: )...sounds like fun! There's a place called Sebastian that we like to go...even saw manatees 8 or 10 feet away when we were in the cove there. Rooster and I were delighted...they swam right up, like they were curious about all the kids playing in the water and wanted to see what was going on.

Good Morning Jo,

Happy New Year to you .. and scoote too. The New Year came in just as it should.. with a smile on My face.. what could get better than that? nods.

Yeah that coughing thing has got to be gettng old by now.. atleast you are seeing some improvement.. if you were not.. I would think a visit to a walk in clinic would be in order. At the very least they would give antibiotics to help clear up what has settled in your chest. However, as long as you are bringing "stuff" up when you cough.. that is always a good sign.. because then it is not settling creating bronchitis, etc. I hope you feel better soon. hugs.

I am thinking after I do My move... My vacation plan for the coming year will be coming down that way... flights are always reasonable.. we actually have an airline here that does non-stop to Orlando and it is super cheap.. so it is definately doable.. and 3 of My favorite people are there... so that just gives Me more determination to make it happen. smiles.

So what is on the agenda for you and scoote today?

My plan is to stay right where I am.. in My big reading chair.. perusing threads.. having coffee... take in some tv .. or put a movie in... I also do not have the heart to take My tree and cards down yet.. I think that will be on the agenda for tomorrow.. I really do not want to .. mutters.

Hugs to you both

As Always,
Jake

Hi Jake,

That sounds like a good plan for the day. :) Scoote is still asleep and I'm debating about whether I should wake her up or not. I'm getting hungry...and am wondering if she would like to go eat mexican food, or go to the beach, or both. It's sunny outside and looks like it's going to be a beautiful day. We had also talked about going to the movies (since I never made it to see the latest Harry Potter)...so we have a few things on our agenda.

Our tree came down yesterday...the kittens had been busily undecorating it for us and dragging needles around, so it was time.

You mentioned a move...are you moving again so soon?

JakeTulane
01-01-2011, 12:25 PM
Hi Jo,

So did you wake scoote up? I did not hear any screaming coming from down that way.. grins. Mexican food sounds tasty.. I ended up just having leftover spaghetti from last night's dinner. Tonight however, I am going to have steak with a tasty tossed salad.

I read the whole Harry Potter series (at the urging of My niece).. and loved the books.. although I did not believe I would. So after that, I decided I wanted to see the movies in the order that they came out. (I had seen a couple of them .. on the off chance when I was channel surfing).. so I just watched.. Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets last week.. and liked them both.. so I will be getting the next two this coming week.. I would love to go see the new one that is out.. however, I am holding back until I see the rest of the movies first.

Nods. The tree will come down tomorrow.. as will all of the wonderful cards I received.

Ah yes the move. When I moved previously.. it was just here in the town I live in. This next move will be out of state...I think it is time.. for a change..and My plan is to move by March. I have done alot of research on different areas.. and I have a friend that lives close to the area I want to move to.. and she has given Me alot info on it as well as putting some "feelers" out there for rentals that are available, etc. So I am really looking forward to it. It will be a fresh start... however, it will be within close driving/flying distance to get back here should My family need Me. smiles.

I hope you both have a good day.. and I vote.. mexican..the beach.. AND the movie.. grins.

As Always,
Jake

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on, english muffin is toasted and buttered...and once Scoote gets up I think I'm going to make some bacon and eggs. I'm enjoying my coffee and reading the directions to assemble the rocker/swivel chairs that came with our patio furniture. Looks very simple...so that's good. :)

I also just had to do lizard rescue duty. Our girl kitty Mabel had one cornered up against the sliding glass door. She was just staring though and occasionally swatting at it, so I went out to see if it was still alive. It was, and the tough little thing was hissing at her and keeping her backed off...even though he was smaller than my little finger. When the boy kitty Banshee came out to assist her I thought....okay bullies, that's enough! I distracted the kittys with roast beef and nudged the lizard onto the shovel by using a broom...then deposited him in the grass of the side yard. I'd have gotten him over the fence, but he was about to run off the shovel....so he's gonna have to make a run for it on his own.

I hate that they hunt the lizards, but it's their nature...so I just hope the lizards are quick, and that they spread the word that our backyard isn't a safe place for lizard-kind.

We didn't do the beach yesterday...but we did get the mexican food (yummy) and to the movies to see the most recent Harry Potter. Maybe we'll get to the beach today since it looks like another beautiful day. There's a new beach we want to try, north of Sebastian, that's the place where the most treasure has washed up. We love the shells, but we both fantasize about finding some old Spanish coins! :beachkids:

Hope you all have a great day...and enjoy your Sunday! :gimmehug:

Good Morning you,

I was laughing My ass off. I mean you took that word plunger literally.. and I kept thinking to Myself.. it really can NOT be the coffee.. because I use all different grinds.. so then I could only think it was the temperature of the tea kettle water.. which totally made sense because it does need to be boiling hot. I am glad we figured it out.. so now you can enjoy the coffee.. which was REALLY the point. still laughing.

I hope you had a peaceful rest.. and if you are watching kids.. they are not driving you bonkers.

Big Hugs.
Jake

Good Morning Jo,

Breakfast sounds yummy.. I will be right over.. grins.. and for said breakfast I will help scoote put that patio furniture together..smiles..

nods.. true about the lizards.. although they are truly in their natural habitat .. where the kitties are not.. especially when they are outdoors.. now if the lizard makes it inside... that is a different story.. and you are right.. those little things zip around like a sprung spring.. so normally they get away before they can get pinned down. Btw.. I love the name Mabel for a kitty. so damn cute. I hope the little lizard guy made it.

How did you like the Harry Potter? My nephew said it was phenomenal. I am truly having a hard time not going to see it before I see the ones made before it. Yeaaah for mexican. I ended up making a steak last night..which was very tasty.. and tossed salad with butter lettuce. Not sure what tonight is going to be.

I also put it on My agenda to take My tree down today.. however, I do not want to. Although I do not want to be one of those people that I go by their house and go.. what the hell bob? they STILL have their Christmas stuff up and it is Valentine's Day? laughs.

Thank you for the coffee... here is a refill.. :bringcoffee:

I hope you and scoote have a good day.

As Always,

:gimmehug:

Hey Jake...I did tons of comparison shopping of movers...and found the absolute best deal was Brown's Moving & Storage out of Syracuse. They're a Mayflower affiliate...best price, great service...and actually no more expensive than me renting a UHaul, a storage space and hiring guys to help (who wouldn't be professionals). Check them out!

You know speaking of coffee I made some French pressed goodness this afternoon and wow how good that is!! I don't think I could go back to the drip pot anymore...its like espresso only faster with a little hot milk you have a latte and poof there it is!! So yes I am converted to a French press now, can't wait until tomorrow to make it again!! Making pumpkin bread from the quick breads by Pillsbury according to JO's word I hope they are good too with some butter on a slice later on..

The screen door broke oh well its time to be fixed or get a new one, the joys of owning a home its always something I tell ya..

Good afternoon everyone :)

Sorry I missed a "good morning", but I was headed out to the airport by 6:30 a.m. to pick up the Rooster :cheer: We're home now, after catching up on the news of his visit, and....guess what?? ...I'm actually posting from the patio, next to the pool....yippee! We got the patio furniture assembled and set up (amidst some cussing) yesterday evening, and the wifi actually reaches out here too. :) Soooooo happy about that, because it means I could actually work from here on nice days too!

Scoote is back at work, and I'm on my last day off. Tomorrow's going to be a bit of a scramble for me, I'm sure...one of those "hang on and keep paddling" days. Boys go back to school too (which you know they're thrilled about :giggle: )

Hope you're all having a great day whether you're soaking up a last day of vacation or already back at the grindstone. :gimmehug:

wow the bagels sound great and the cream cheese too yum, could go for the second cuppa right about now. The day is going badly with the car, it may need transmission work now it is pulling in gear and riding rough!! Its always something, I don't really know what I even did to it for it to get this bad..it was just snow that I hit..anyway no where for me to go to with the car riding as bad as it is..will see tomorrow morning..

When I hit a pothole in my car, it cracked one of my motor mounts. It will feel like it is jerking to go into gear. You may have cracked or broke a motor mount.

Your mechanic should have checked that. They will tell you that it is the transmission, since it can cost almost $2,000 to fix it. My middle bro is a mechanic and he taught me about cars when I started driving. Mechanics, whether they are independent or at a dealership will take advantage if a woman. I had a mechanic for the Saturn dealership in Orlando tell me, I had no idea what I was talking about over a cylenoid switch that they had messed up in my transmission. Needless to say, that man never forgot who I was.

Well I'm taking it to the dealer where I bought the car 3 years ago and I hope its not the transmission because I don't have 2,000 dollars either..maybe it is a motor mount that I broke I don't know yet will see tomorrow mean while I'm not driving it, it could just stay in the garage that way..but thanks for the heads up I will be cautious tomorrow about it..it should be under warranty no??

Yesterday was full of shopping for us...and not fun shopping...Lowe's for air filters (although I did find 2 nice plants on the clearance rack...yay!) and pool shock....WalMart, and BJ's. So, once again, the house is stocked to the rafters with food.

Be careful of that blood sugar Zimmy...I know how yicky that can make you feel. It's amazing how tiring kid's parties are, isn't it? I always found that after one of Rooster's birthday parties that I just wanted to lay down and sleep for about 3 days!

Good morning everyone :) and welcome to the thread sylvie!

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on, but no food yet...the nurse shows up at 8 a.m. to do fasting blood tests and other stuff on Scoote and I (a requirement of my company for health insurance). Of course, I'm stressed and freaked out because I'm so needle-phobic. Ugh! I'll be back when it's over! :rrose:

Hello again,

Refills on the coffee :bringcoffee: and a healthy breakfast for us all...

http://www.esteemfitness.com/fitness-tips/wp-content/uploads/healthy-breakfast.jpg

The screenings went fine, although I did almost pass out (par for the course for me). The nurse was very skilled. Lips...I have to say...as someone who is needle-phobic and has to have frequent blood draws....it would flat out scare the shit out of me to have someone with poor vision stick a needle in me....whether they like it or not doesn't mean a thing to me....I need, not want, but need them to be fast, gentle, skilled and get it right the first time. I have buckets of admiration for skilled health care professionals....and bad ones scare the crap out of me. It's way too easy to hurt or traumatize someone when you're doing these kinds of things...

Anyway....had to drop off the Rooster's spanish homework, and pretty soon need to run Scoote's work paperwork to another store...so I'm off to do some of my own work in between.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on...and I thought we could all use a nice warm bowl of oatmeal this morning...

Thanks Zimmy...I have seen a few diabetic cookbooks...some are good, but some rely a lot on artificial sweeteners (which I try to avoid). I'm always open to looking at a new one though!

Scoote is off to her district meeting, and I'm trying to be productive. January is always full of questions and issues and stuff for me at work...so it feels like I'm not doing much when I actually am.

Hope you all have a great day!

Good Morning Everyone,

I am thinking of homemade biscuits with sausage gravy for breakfast this morning! I know it's not a healthy breakfast, but it will keep us full.

I am going down to the college today to pick up my Spanish book and go to my mom's hair salon. She is going to dye it a light brown.

Have a wonderful day!

Scoote is off to work, Prince is home sick, Rooster is off to school and the kittens are tearing the place up as usual.

Just heard from my manager that she has 3 new projects for me....woot! That means I'll be super busy, but it's also job security...so I'm all for that! :)

Hope you all have a great day...and hope our Jake is doing alright :rrose:

Good morning everyone :)

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on...and I'm waking up slow. It's been a rough last few days...busy at work and just too much going on. The Rooster has declared it a pajama day and I'm going along with it. Looks like the hotel-lounging will wait for another day.

Next weekend we're heading up to St. Augustine and Jacksonsville....my aunt is turning 73 and the family is having a surprise birthday party for her. It will be nice to see everyone....they've never met Scoote or the Prince...and Rooster hasn't seen most of these cousins since they were toddlers. :)

Hope you're all having a nice, relaxing Saturday morning.

And....I know they're naughty, but they just look soooooo good today!

Good Evening Everyone,

I had a wonderful day. I bought a cute pair of Capri jeans that have a cuff on the bottom and I paid $12 for them at TJ Maxx.

I'm thinking of grilled chicken, asparagus and macaroni and cheese for dinner!

:bringcoffee: Coffee is on, and a healthy breakfast sounds like a great idea.

sylvie...two teens? me too...one of mine and one of Scoote's...exhausting, isn't it? :cheesy: I sometimes feel like all I do is fill the fridge with food. :giggle:

Zimmy...it's definite, we're going to be up in St. Augustine on Saturday. We'll be running around with the boys during the day sightseeing....but would you like to meet for a coffee or something in the evening? We'd love to finally get to meet you in real life!

The boys are off school but I forgot to ask for a PTO day, and scheduled calls in....including a planning call with my boss at noon....so I'm off to get prepared for that.

Hope you all have a great day! :gimmehug:

:) Scoote's son is 16 and mine is 13...and they are very, very different. Not polar opposites (neither is athletic for instance), but off the scale opposites on energy level, approach and the things they like to do. Makes for some interesting times.

I think blending families is incredibly challenging...and anyone who does it deserves a medal. :cheesy:

Another busy day here today...Scoote's off to work, kids are off to school, and I'm prepping for a call with my departing co-worker to get the updates on all of his projects...which are now mine. :seeingstars: I know it'll all work out, but it's a bit overwhelming just at the moment.

i hear you on opposites, my two are opposite where personalities go, especially as well as their interests..but they're close and rarely fight which is a great thing, though they used to, even not that long ago ... eesh, it was tiring LOL..

and i agree, blending families would be a great challenge.. the few i've dated and who've lived with us, didn't have children at all.. so different kind of challenge altogether.. but yes, definitely deserving of a medal LOL
