The Los Angeles area has two teams now, after having none for many years.

The Rams are currently in 1st; don't worry they'll screw it up

The NFL is so concerned with the poor performance of the Chargers, that they are considering a move BACK to San Diego.

Goooooooooo Eagles!

I don't think San Diego will take them back. <g>

Some days, one can be incredibly slow on the uptake.

When I read this, my brain was saying I've never heard of a fish fry football party. Followed by, why would you put out the fire if you are trying to cook fish? And, how did the fish get out of the pan and back into the water? And what does any of this have to do with football and the Falcons?

Falcons were playing the Dolphins. Got it.

Yes. I enjoy watching dressage riding (Andreas Helgstrand is brilliant), ice figure skating (Johnny Weir was brilliant, I'm sure still is but retired), polo, yacht racing and surfing. I like watching these but mind you, I don't do sports myself.

This was probably the most exciting game I have seen all year - even if the Chiefs didnt win.

Of course, when I fell asleep, the Chiefs were up by 10 points. There was 3 minutes left. It felt safe to close my eyes. Wrong.

Patriots played the night game. Ended up winning 41-16. Score tells me it was an easier win than most have been. Unfortunately, I fell asleep during the 2nd quarter. I did get to see Dion Lewis run back the punt 103 yards for a td tho.

It was a much more competitive week with some upsets and nail biters. Again lots of injuries from some brutal hits.

It was interesting to watch just one guy sack Ben Roethlisberger. Usually it takes players attached to each of his extremities, one hanging from his neck, a strong wind, and he will still drag them all 5 yards before he goes down.

Yes I admit I worry too about brain injuries when I watch a game! I believe Frank Gifford also left his brain for research.
The 2015 movie Concussion touched on the doctor who brought this to the forefront and how they (NFL) tried to discredit it! There was also something on either ESPN or 60 Minutes as well that covered this subject matter.

Of course the glory years were the 1970s with John Madden, Kenny Stabler & co. :vigil: Should be an easy win for the Pats, lol. For some added interest the game is being played in Mexico City. I think I'll watch.

Edit: Ugh not showing that game here. Oh well.

This was the first time I saw Hundley play. I was impressed. He has an arm, is mobile, and is fearless out there. He is young but he played well.

I was a little miffed when he took that helmet to helmet shot in the last series. Surprised it wasnt called nor was he taken off the field for a concussion check. He looked a bit wobbly to me after that.

I like Jamaal Williams too. He is a solid back and a good receiver. Nice guy to have when all your running backs are injured.

Overall, it was a decent week in the NFL with no one being carted off the field with season ending injuries.

I dont think the benching has anything to do with the Giants season per se or affixing blame for it.

It is looking like this is more the new coach wants to go in a different direction and Eli isnt part of that picture.

Eli is under contract until 2020 and also has a no trade clause but is 37 and is due a 5 million bonus in March if he is still a Giant.

Given the paucity of quality qb's out there, he could bring a hefty price in a trade. Is much like when the Colts let go of Peyton. And, there is nothing more effective in ushering someone out of their no trade clause than making them feel unwelcome and unwanted....especially if they still want to play.

IF they are looking to trade him, there is no reason to put him out there with a porous offensive line and risk him being hurt.

Wouldnt be surprised if Beckman, when healthy, also finds himself on the trading block for the right return. He is a very good receiver but his lack of maturity diminishes his overall worth.

This article about potential suitors was interesting .......possibilities (https://www.yahoo.com/news/will-eli-manning-play-2018-lets-examine-possibilities-154322053.html)

And then there is this one .... Eli Manning has two years remaining on his current four-year contract extension. He is due to cost the Giants team-high cap hits of $22.2 million in 2018 and $23.2 million in 2019, figures that foreshadowed a likely shift away from Manning, 36, even before Tuesday’s benching. ramifications (http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/giants/ramifications-giants-trading-releasing-eli-manning-article-1.3663973)

Lots of speculative possibilities but only the Giants know the truth behind this.

I'm just trying to figure out if it is wise to pick Oakland over the Giants for survival football this week. LOL.

Well Dallas looked like an entirely different team out there last night. Morris looked great bulldozing his way thru the defensive line. Prescott was throwing with confidence. Bryant was looking invincible when he was given the opportunity to do his thing.

Washington, on the other hand, was channeling their inner Keystone cops. Plenty of blooper material there. I know they are struggling after losing key starters to season ending injuries but that was a brilliant display of how not to play professional football. They did look good in their red uniforms tho.

Not even going to talk about how I picked up Washington players and dropped Dallas players for my fantasy teams this week.

Tenn will be finding its way to the Patriots next week. This is good for us....I think....maybe..... LOL.

I was disappointed in the Chiefs. Except for wiping the field with the Patriots opening day, they have had problems scoring in the second half. The game with Tenn was no different.

I was surprised the Rams lost. I expected the Falcons would have folded eventually, regardless of how the Rams played. Color me surprised.

The Bills hanging in there against Jacksonville was a surprise too. Jacksonville managed to hold on for the win. Have to hand it to Tyrod Taylor. He had his head batted all over the place today but he managed to stick it out until the last double bang with 1 minute left. Glad he was able to walk off the field on his own.

Now it is the game I was waiting for....Saints and Panthers. I'm expecting a brutal game. Then again given my expectations for this weekends action thus far, that means nothing. Go Saints!

I'm volunteering as part of CREW 52, for the 52nd Super Bowl here in Minneapolis. There are 10,000 volunteers, and our jobs are to make the expected million visitors to the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St Paul) feel welcome, and to answer questions about everything from directions to public transportation to the best restaurants...any thing they might need help with.

My particular job is to be at headquarters in downtown Minneapolis checking the volunteers in for their work shifts. I will also be serving coffee and hot soup, and doing anything else my team captain asks me to do.

There are festivities going on for the 10 days before the big game...lots of celebrities in town...PINK will be doing a concert and there are several other concerts and events.

I work 3 five hour shifts...and we have all been given a very nice swag bag including a winter jacket complete with a zip out liner, a scarf, mittens,
hat, long sleeve polo shirt, a thermal coffee mug, and a backpack. When we complete our 2nd work shift, we receive a pair of boot socks.

This already has been quite the experience with meeting other volunteers and posting on our closed facebook page...I have handed out rainbow buttons to GLBTQI volunteers and allies to wear on their uniforms to let visitors know we are safe to talk to.

I was NEVER a football fan before this...I was the femme in the kitchen making the eats for half time. Now....well, I guess I'll be making them before the game, LOL!

With what we're calling "the Minnesota Miracle" (Diggs making hte touchdown to win the game as the clock ticked to 0) against the Saints...I am sooo hopeful my Vikings will make it to the Super Bowl....

SKOL! SKOL! SKOL!

Very sad news...

Because of the Government shutdown, the Playoffs won’t be seen by military personnel overseas.

I'm not a fan of any of the teams playing today. So I'm pulling for anyone but those cheating Pats.

Those cheating Pats aren't even among the top ten biggest cheaters in the NFL. As a matter of fact they are below average NFL cheaters.
But people believe what they want to believe.

Although the Jags do have a lower cheat score than the Pats. 17 - 31.

First game, have no dog in this one. I have to comment on Jaguars uniform though. That two-tone helmet has to go. I also have heartburn with my teams uni’s, but that two-tone is not right. Please fix for next year.
