Jo's Kitchen (and yes, the coffee IS on...) [Archive]

Hello my hunies and homies :chef:

By popular demand (well....a couple butches I know demanded it :giggle:), Jo's Kitchen is now open. The coffee is on, and there's always a good meal, a warm hug and some good conversation.

I hope that all of our old hunies and homies find their way home...and some new ones come to join our little family. This is a great place to hang out, visit with friends, get silly...all we ask is that you take note of the sign over the door...the one that says "Drama Free Zone."

For dinner tonight (since I'm not sure how many are gonna show up...) I've rolled a prime rib in kosher salt and crushed pepper (makes a nice crunchy crust), and of course a little au jus and horseradish for dunking and dipping....plus baked potatoes with all the trimmings, a nice green salad....and I might even break open a bottle of Merlot. There's cold Dr. Pepper in the fridge (cuz my baby lives here too)...and feel free to BYOB. For dessert....we might have to do my (in)famous hot fudge cake...just because.

Anyone hungry? :tease::eating:

Excellant Jo!!! i was just beginning to die of hunger!! Omg.....prime rib, baked potatoes......yummy!! And a bottle of merlot....oh!!! sounds perfect!! I brought along some beers, and a nice Californian Cabernet sauvignon!!
And i promise to help Scoote with the cleaning up...gee...us butches can be demanding....but we are worth it...yeah?? lol

If you all want any other rooms, you'll need to build them....cuz no doubt I'll be busy in the kitchen until some of our femme (and butch) friends who like to cook find their way back home!

Hi Jo,

things are still very busy with work. Looking for songs for a new artist who has taken three of my songs so far. Baby Face will be producing at least one of my songs. Jay Z and Wyclef are on board as well.

Yes hon I'm still getting up before dawn. 3:30/4 am 7 days a week rain or shine.

I seem to be dragging my ass these days.

Hopefully we'll be back to our regular home soon.

i drink cowboy coffee—very strong brewed in a speckled tin coffee pot.

goooood evening hunies and homies.....its been a looooooooooong day...first work till after 7,came home and wolfed down some food,then went to look at a house Jo really liked....actually its a wonderful house so wemade an offer..but ill leave that to Jo to talk bout

poor thing...had to hang out at home for 2 hrs with cable man to get our internet fixed...already doing wifey duties i.e laundry,cleaning(even my bathroom) fixed dinner,went house hunting...did i mention she is a wonderful woman and im one hella lucky butch

Sorry I haven't been on...and welcome, welcome, welcome to all of the new hunies and homies! The more the merrier when it comes to hanging out in the kitchen, talking, being silly (yes CS, we are!), and of course having something yummy to eat with that third cup of coffee :bringcoffee:

I'll add to breakfast this morning...how about some nice crisp homemade hashbrowns, eggs however you like them and we can make some toast out of that homemade bread....that's always extra nice.

As Scoote said, I've been busy with house stuff yesterday...a little housework, a little laundry :laundryday: a little cooking and a whole lot of house hunting with the realtor.

We found one that's soooo nice, and have put in an offer....so everyone cross their fingers for us! It's not brand new...about 20 years old in fact but all totally remodeled a month ago....so brand new kitchen and appliances, new carpet, fresh paint, all just perfect and not a thing to do except shop for a washer and dryer. One of the nicest parts though is a lovely outdoor area...swimming pool with a jacuzzi, all enclosed and two sliding doors from the house to the patio and pool area...plus a big fenced yard for the critters. It's on a corner lot in a nice quiet neighborhood...and as cute as it can be. :dogwalking:

Now I just need to sell the other one, pack up my whole house, move about 1300 miles....piece of cake! :giggle:

Well I've been fighting with my work computer :training: and losing :angry:....I'm definitely not a high tech person!

But...on a happier note, the bread is rising in the pans, the chocolate chip cookies are in process (first batch just came out of the oven), and I realize that there is everything I need to make my sweetie some homemade mac and cheese with her porkchops tonight...so life is good! :D

Sooo...anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? Scoote and I are planning to go the beach tomorrow (all that remains to be decided is which beach....ahhhh my favorite problem).

Unfortunately I fly home at the crack of dawn on Sunday (sigh)....but I'll be :praying: that the sellers accept our offer on the FL house, that someone puts in a decent offer on the NY house....and that I can get moved down here in time to enjoy a summer by the pool. :D

Jo Jo, the house sounds very nice! I am going to visit with my oldest niece and nephew today so I am popping in for a few minutes.

I was out reading an article on computer world's website about the new iPad WiFi + 3G that might cause some issues at AT&T. I have an iPhone and it can run slow and lose signal at times. AT&T also is talking about launching Android phones, which are pretty cool.

Breakfast is on, eggs anyway you like them, left over ham from yesterday, crispy hash browns, home made bread still hot from the oven. We also have blueberry pancakes with Canadian maple syrup. Fruits, dips lots of coffee, juice and chocolate milk.

Dig in and enjoy, I'm sure Jo is having a good time with Scoote and safe bet is Scoote is having a good time with Jo :)

I am doing good on this diet. My best friend laughed at me when I told her I couldn't have chocolate anymore. She knows that I have a wicked sweet tooth.

I had fun on Saturday with my two nieces and oldest nephew. Missing my old roommate's birthday party was worth it. My brother, his g/f and us went to see Alice in Wonderland and I really liked it.

Thank you Music! I was hoping CS would be able to come on and let us know how he was doing. Glad to hear he's alright.

My company is headquartered in Nashville and they've been sending updates to us...an incredible amount of rain and flooding and lots of folks are spending all of their time and energy just trying to keep their houses from flooding. I'm glad he's alright, and that he was able to help his sister, too.

If you talk to him again, do tell him we're all thinking of him and sending lots of "drying out" energy his way.

Dinner is served...just some good old fashioned meat loaf, mashed potatoes, homemade gravy and biscuits, steamed fresh asparagus and a nice salad. Dessert....angel food cake with fresh strawberries (they were on sale today), and whipped cream...the real thing, not that stuff in the can. Hope everyone is hungry!

Zimmy I was thinking of you....just skip the gravy and whipped cream and you should be alright. Just fill up on salad first....and angel food cake is naturally very low fat. Best of luck on the diet. I actually try not to diet....but just to increase the fruits and veggies, decrease the processed stuff, and walk more. Dieting usually makes me want to :eatinghersheybar: :blink:

Sweetie...come relax, have a nice plate of dinner and :cigar: ...and maybe later we can go find that hot tub CS installed. It's gotta be around here somewhere! :p

Good morning Honies and homies,

I heard from CS this morning. He is exhausted and misses you all very much. He wanted me to let you all know he has been really busy helping people. He has used his boat to get people out of certain areas. His school he works at is right across for the ole opry and it is messed up pretty good. Schools are destroyed and the town is devastated. He's hurting pretty bad and seeing a lot of people around him hurting is tough for our CS.

He said he would try and go online tonight quickly and say hello to everyone. i'll pass on anyone thoughts to CS if you like.

I have a meeting today so we 'll all have to scramble for whatever breakfast we can find. Sorry folks, i'll get it going tomorrow.

Thank you for the update on CS Music...I'm glad to hear that hy's okay, although I can only imagine the exhaustion and difficulty. Thank goodness hy has a boat!

I have a big meeting that I'm a little nervous about at 11...but I can take care of breakfast... let's start with some coffee :bringcoffee:
(and yes baby, ice cold Dr. Pepper in the fridge for whenever you wake up :kissy: )

How about some nice french toast, with sliced strawberries and homemade whipped cream, crispy bacon (not too crisp for my sweetie though), and of course I'm happy to make eggs to order for anyone who would rather not have the sweet stuff.

quick drive by to say hello to all the hunies and homies....ive been kinda busy with work and the crab Jo gave me has kept me running around as well...btw...it was a real crab she gave me--we found this wooden thing that looked like a shell,didnt see the lil bugger in there(yes i looked) tossed it in bag with other shells,closed it and went on our merry way. the next night(sunday) i kept hearig what sounded like a water bottle crinkling ever so lightly..get up at 5 am and go to the bathroom and wouldnt ya know it..the lil bastard had ate THRU the bag,flew off the table and made it to my bathroom...picked him up,put him in what i thought was an appropriate container till i could get him a house....get up 2 hrs later,damn thing is gone....he had managed to get out of bowl and hide in the sink under some dirty dishes...suffice to say we have it under control now..got him a home yesterday and now just gotta furnish it

MM tell CS we miss him and he is in our thoughts..and not much we can do but if anything let us know

Good morning Honies and Homies, i have to say Scoote and Jo i love you both to death. I can always be assured to get a chuckle or a all out howl reading your banter. Scoote, my brother and friend I howled when I read sumbitch snake was 2.5 feet long. Jo,honey grasshoppers are real small sweetie they won't hurt you. I'll tell you both if I'm ever lucky enough to make my way to where you both reside eventually I will protect my brother from the sumbitch of snakes and protect you Jo from the grasshoppers.

Breakfast is on family, eggs anyway you like them today, crispy hash browns for Jo and I, bacon, biscuits, left over gravy, fruits, dips,juices, coffee and Dr. Pepper for Scoote.

Scoote, I'd like to say I'm getting rest buddy but I'm not. seems one day is meshing into the next. When I do try to relax and get away from my work and computer it's all I think off and I end up back at the computer. I have too much at stake my friend, it is on my mind always. I would hope a femme or as you said a wife for a day would help but I'm not sure at this point.

It might be fun though having a femme/lady/wife for just one day:clap::clap:

I have always liked black and white photos. When I lived in Seattle, my ex had a black and white quilt that was cute. I was able to find it down here in Florida at Wal-Mart. I also love pictures of France and I have several of those for the new room. The crab story is funny.

Good morning Everyone,

I am popping in real quick before the baby wakes up. It has been hectic the last few days. We had to take my best friend's little boy to the dr's, he had a temp of 102.9 and wasn't eating. We found out the poor little thing has strep throat and is on antibiotics now. She also found out that she is having another little boy who is due on September 1st.

Have fun, I have to take the baby back for more blood work today,

i'd like to make an offer to Musicman as i am in need of a "Butch for a day". Seriously, i have some odd jobs that need tending to.
i can cook, bake, do dishes, serve dinner, clean up.i will even do a couple loads of laundry while i'm there.
In exchange, i am in need of such Butchly services such as hang curtain rods, install ceiling fans and take the garbage out *grin*

If this doesn't work out, i'll be browsing the yellow pages for Rent-a-Husband, yes i am serious.

Freyja, what an interesting proposition you offer :) i can hang curtain rods, take out the trash, cut the lawn. Not sure about the ceiling fan though.

I think a home cooked meal would be lovely. I can handle all the other stuff as I have to do it for myself. I can cook as well but have no desire to make a meal for one person. So someones company, a home cooked meal and maybe we could negotiate a slow dance or two (I really miss slow dancing ;) hmmmmmm

The thing about grasshoppers is they're so darn unpredictable in the way they jump. One really did jump off the path and a bit towards me last time I was there...and I admit I jumped and squealed. At least I didn't :thud:

Jo, I hope you finally found the hottub? It is enclosed off the outdoor eating porch and patio area that I just finished building. I put the hottub to the side of the building stepping down off of the back eating patio. It's enclosed by an 8 ft privacy fence. Huge 10 seat hottub.

Good evening hunies and homies

Dinner is on...

Wasn't sure who would be showing up or what anyone's schedule was, so I made a big pan of lasagna, garlic bread and a nice salad. I know my sweetie will probably be looking for something chocolate tonight...so I got out the ice cream maker and made up a batch of chocolate ice cream, and another of strawberry for those that prefer that. There's some leftover chocolate chip cookies too...just in case anyone wants those with the ice cream. :eating:

I'll put a fresh pot of coffee on too.... :bringcoffee:

CS...good to see you back safe and sound...sounds like you've had a heck of a week. Leave it to you to remember the "spatula incident" :cracked:

Evening people of the kitchen.

i am quickly passing thru as the evening is coming to a close for this girl.
As an early birder (6am), the evenings after the sun sets seem oh so short.
But as a solar charged girl, i love the light being here late.

Waiting on warm summer night's and looking forward to picnics in the park.
Watching the sun set over the water and of course, capturing that with my camera.

i am definitely up for a barter of "femme for a day" to any eligible "Butch for a day".

I have conference calls today, so I'll be in and out...and gotta' confess...I went to the old site this morning...and didn't like how it looked, and found the ads a bit intrusive. Dapper...thank you for the heads up on the other site. Truly, when we opened up the kitchen it was a temporary place for all of us to gather while renovations were underway. But...like my sweetie and Kat...I'm thinking of taking up permanent residence. The folks are friendly over here...and I just feel a bit more at home. The old place seems a bit hard to navigate...and the ads annoy me....and all of our pictures got ripped off the walls...kinda makes a girl feel unwelcome. :blink:

Breakfast is on, We have omelets, poached or scrambled egg, fresh croissants,bagels, cream cheeses, we have, sausages and bacon. Crispy home fries and grits. Assorted fruits and dips. Juice, chocolate milk, Dr. Pepper for Scoote and coffee.

Trees. with, and without backgrounds, All kinds. Black and white drawings for a coloring book LeftWriteFemme and I are creating called "Fill Me In Trees".

She does all kinds of books, and her coloring book series is entitled
"Fill Me In", "Fill Me In Too", and this one will be "Fill Me In Tree". Speaking for myself (one who is trying to adapt to change and not liking it lol) the other site isn't doing anything for me. It was fine the way it was . Easy to navigate albeit a bit slow near the end but still it was a good site.

any other thoughts?

Wow...we're getting a room full of stars....mountainstar, morningstar, starfire (who we still need to get over here), now a littlestar....love it! Tommi, glad to see you're an early morning type...our Musicman spends way too many early morning hours alone while the rest of us are getting moving! Your projects sound interesting...can you post pics? I'm completely non-creative, except with baking and the written word...but appreciate the beautiful things that others can create.

Littlestar...never worry about being a drive by here...all are welcome to come and visit whether it's once in awhile or all the time. :)

I went over to the old site last night and checked to see who had been online over there from our old honey house. I sent some pm's but didn't get everyone...I did send pms to scorpia, blass, nattih, and starfire, and then started having problems with the site. Tried to send one to shero and prettywoman but not sure it went through...and, of course, it's down this morning when I went back to make sure we invited everyone. So much for my goal of inviting everyone! And I agree with you Music...I liked it the way it was...not so happy with the new site for a few reasons...and am more comfortable with the idea of just unpacking right here. :)

Time for me to have some coffee and wake up...although those croissants are looking pretty yummy....and listen...I think one of them is calling my name!

For freyja today we have Jazz playing on the radio today.

Breakfast is served, we have for the special, toasted bacon and tomato sandwiches, we have eggs anyway you like them, bacon, shaved steak,crispy hash browns, homemade bread, yogurts,fruits,dips, juice, coffee, Dr. pepper ice cold for Scoote.

Hope wherever you are the sun is shining and you have a GREAT day! Believe it or not it is snowing where I am today. So the fire is on, music is playing and the food smells delicious.

So how is everyone on Mother's Day? My mother passed away when I was 19 and I miss her alot but every time I see the bright star in the sky (I forget what it represents) I think of my mother watching over me. She is always with me as long as I can see that star... And of course when I am on the ocean in Tampa/St Petersburg Florida where her ashes were scattered.

Ok, off to take Daddy to work bless him he woke and is about ready... He looks like he could use some :coffee:

So nice to see so many smiling faces in the kitchen this morning...sorry I bailed on dinner last night...I had a challenging day.

Happy Mother's Day to all :) My son is with his father today, but we celebrated yesterday in true 12 year old boy style....late lunch at Red Robin for burgers and a trip to the movies to see Iron Man 2. I do love movies...pretty much all of them...so that was fun.

Today is all about housework and laundry for me...was gonna be yardwork but it poured down rain yesterday so weeding is the only thing possible. We'll see how ambitious I feel later. I got a nice sleep in today (since the dogs went with the son), so decided to treat the kitties to a can of tuna when I finally got up. Lots of purring going on around here now. :) :rollcat:

anyway popping it to say hi to all the hunies and homies....nice to see so many wonderful ppl here...sorry havent been around much..as Jo said been putting in long hrs plus my lil prince has been unusually social with me this weekend so couldnt pass that up...he even took(well i drove but he asked for us to go) me to the beach today...he hates going to the beach--something bout i wore him out when we first moved here or something..lol anyway it was great...i miss us doing things like that,but being 15(almost 16) i realize those moments are becoming more rare all time

MM...u been keeping an eye on the cameras? batteries charged and all? although i must say not much interesting stuff goes on around here dammit...we need to spice it up..maybe a dungeon errr a basement with an array of devices. or maybe a full blown no holds barred party...seeing as we are taking up residency here i think a party is definitely in order--house warming if you like..ill alert the police and fire dept just in case--talk to the neighbors(sure hope they are as nosy over here)

alright i gotta go find food...maybe we should fire up the grill,burn some steaks and veggies...nice salad and Frejya bringing the sweet stuff

The beach sounds wonderful!! I miss North Carolina.. I lived 3 hours from the mountains and 3 hours from the beach. It was awesome.. You could plan a weekend on a whim... Here in Missouri we have a lake... ughhh!! If we didnt own our home Daddy and I would definitely be moving someplace more fun than our little bible belt town!

So I can dream of the beach and know we will run our toes through the sand soon..
