I am in bloody Wisconsin. It is December. There is green grass on the ground. We got snow a while ago but it's already all melted. The days are well above freezing. We have had really strange weather: Tons of rain, an F1 tornado touched down across the Columbia river, coastal communities are flooded and life has come to practically a stand still. It's terribly cold today. Mountains are getting tons of snow. The earth beneath our feet is not stable. All I can say is that the weather hasn't been all that beautiful.

My aunt had a coy pond with water plants, what she did was put post in the ground all around the pond, make a top with chicken wire then cover it the wire and put something on the edges to hold it down but could be raised up on the edges as needed. But on the really cold days she had a low grade heat lamp with a fan too blow the warmth over the pond. I'm sure some kind of set up like that can work out, when I was time too take it off she just took it down rolled it up for the next winter.

Trufax. I'm from the mountains of southwestern VA originally and moved to Greensboro NC for a decade or so. The difference in weather for what's a relatively short distance apart is pretty amazing. It would ice more than snow in NC and the place would come to a STANDSTILL for anything above an inch or two. You definitely can't judge weather anywhere else against your own, that's for sure.

It's hard to tell exactly how much snow I got since the drifts were insane in some areas and my snow plow guys started plowing when I was about 4-5 inches deep. They came out a couple of times and now the driving and walking areas look really good. I'd say maybe 8-10 inches of snow. Nothing like what NY and DC got but enough to put a wrench in things. Now comes the hard part with the melting and leaking from the roof of one of my buildings and the general clean up. It's about 18 degrees now and the sun is shining like nothing happened at all.

Today will be 40 something, and sunny in Indy. Now I know for a fact that our planet is warming up! I have actually been seeing spring-time Robin red-breasts hopping around in the woods here, in NW Indiana, since Feb 4! Never, never , happened here so soon on Lake Michigan! I even heard some song birds singing, and watch them building nests. I have not even shoveled snow yet this winter, or scraped ice off my windshield. The lake isn't even frozen! Unheard of! First let me say I'm loving this spring weather, big condolences to those who have to live in the cold and snow please be careful and take care of yourself.
Today it was 59* sunny with a bit of wind now and then, tomorrow is supposed to be about the same. Today I got out for a while to get some sun plus go to the store, I noticed all the tulip trees have bloomed fully with pedals on the ground. The dog wood trees are in bloom as well...maybe the ground hog was right.

It looks deceptively beautiful outside. It's bright and the sun is shining. In actuality, it's about 8 degrees with a wind chill of -2 or so. It depends on if it's gusting 40 mph or not, really. I'm pretty sure it drops down to -20 in the midst of a good gust but it's okay. It's dry and that is what makes it a good day for me during the winter. Any day I don't have to deal with new snow and slush and freezing rain is a good day.

Today is going to be great! Well, not at first. At first it will be cold. But dry. Dry is good. Then it will be damp as it will snow later tonight. Normally, that sucks but tonight it will not be so bad because it will get wet. Very wet. Snow changes to rain and the temps go from the negatives to around 50 and they will stay above freezing, during the day, for about a week or so.
