LOL "can't stand the stuff". Say how you really feel.
Weather here has gone up and will go up more for about a week they say. With that comes humidity. 85 to 89.6 degrees. I would head home if the damned virus was not calling the shots along with our premier who is ignoring all but all are not ignoring him.

Just you wait until you find out how I feel about champagne.
Today was MISERABLE. Muggy and hot. My clothes stuck to me and I actually got a little nauseous at one point (not enough water, me thinks). Tomorrow is worse. Low 90s. High humidity. Very little breeze.
I will NOT be leaving the apartment, which is why my friend and I installed my window units tonight. This girl melts too easily nowadays.

Personally I think champagne is the best, I sure had my share in the day. It is gross here weather wise. An old friend wants to meet but we can only meet outside and it is hot enough to split rocks. I do hope we don't see a puddle of Gemme here.

Then I won't tell you what I think about champagne. Let's let you keep your positive view on it. Hey, more for you! None for me.
Sooo...it's already in the mid-80s and humid and that was before 10am. It's headed towards 93, soupy and with a 10 out of 10 UV index. No melting for me because I'm only going outside to bring out the trash and recycling and I think I can wait until dusk for that.

This morning I woke up to a wonderful thunderstorm with rain coming down in torrents. I laid there in bed - waking up slowly - as I normally do - and it made Me feel like I was waking up next to a waterfall (as I shared in the smile thread). I am always moved by Mother Nature and what she can dish out - not only that - but how human beings survive after she does it in catastrophic ways.
It was nice to wake up to the power that she has.
As for the remainder of the day - we are supposed to get thundershowers off and on.. and the high will be around 79 degrees and we have a low area flood advisory as well.

Today was just another mixed bag of Mother Nature's tricks. Some sun - then rain - then a mini-thunderstorm - then some sun. However, it was mild in temperature - so you could breathe when you walked outside - always a plus. It looks like the next couple of days and the weekend will be the roll the dice weather game - in regards to rain and sun. However, as I have posted previously the rain does not bother Me - but I would prefer to have a "someone" to chill in it with. I am hoping Mom is somewhere right now plotting with My Gram (her Mom) in regards to giving Me some hope with the "someone" part. :|

Well, if the weather-guesser is correct - today will be the first day we have had a break from the rain for a bit - and even though I love it when it arrives - I am not always sad to see it go. Today the high should be around 81 degrees and the humidity is looking to be 57%. It also looks like we are going to have a slight breeze with all of that - so I really hope the guesser is right about this.

Starting to cool off on the lake. Tree colors are changing and I’m seeing less of the ducks, turkeys, and deer, but the squirrels and woodpeckers are out and about collecting nuts and making holes.
It’s very pretty right now in my neck of the woods, but I’m looking forward to the first full snowfall where the snow sticks to the bare tree branches. It will be here soon enough.
Today’s high will be 65 F near the lake.

Adirondack "Mountains"
We are having strange weather as is the rest of the US.
Two weeks ago it was chilly enough for a wool jacket.
Then it warmed up.
We're fortunate to be big procrastinators, and didn't take the A/C out of the window. We'd have been miserable 'cause it got toasty.
They keep predicting rain showers, but none have materialized.
We had peak Fall foliage last weekend, but the colors are subdued this year. A good rainy weekend brings out the POP in Fall colors here in Northern NYS and Northern Vermont.

Rain and flooding here but.....
Thursday morning, winter alerts were up for 2 million people across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, which included the first blizzard warnings of the season.
The blizzard warnings, in particular, were for parts of northeastern South Dakota and extreme western Minnesota. While this region is part of "blizzard alley," it's early for the season's first blizzard. November blizzard warnings are actually quite rare. The last time one was issued for this part of South Dakota was five years ago in November of 2016. Before that? 2008.
Wind alerts are also up for 11 million people, where winds could gust as high as 50mph through Thursday night.
By the second half of the day on Thursday, rain was forecast to change over to snow across the northern Plains and Upper Midwest, where as much as 8 inches of snow could fall across extreme northern parts of North Dakota and Minnesota.

We're having fierce winds today. Good advance warning though so plenty of time to brace for it for those who hadn't already. We had a power outage here yesterday for about an hour, so for me it just meant don't put away everything I hauled out yesterday to deal with that, set up for worst case scenario. J decided to brave it and brought over meds she'd picked up for me. The car was really rocking but she said it was actually better out on the road than it was parked. Well they're home safe and sound now, Monte is napping. Last night I didn't even need to use the heater. It's5PM, 63 degrees out and haven't had to turn it on yet. During my undergraduate years, I had a year-long exchange planned in Eugene OR. Loved the town, school, lush greenery, but left after the Fall term due to severe SAD. Made it back in time for Spring Semester in Chicago. There was a foot of snow on the ground and bright sunshine. Recovery was fast,

Yesterday was all snow sleet and freezing rain. Then we got about 3 inches of snow overnight. When I got up at 5 if was 12 degrees. Now it's about 15 degrees and the wind is howling.
I hardly ever get to work from home but had a scheduled work from home day today for various reasons. I'm so glad I don't have to head out in the dark and cold right now.
I had to run out at 5:30 to bring something down the driveway and used my hiking poles and hiking boots to navigate the ice- while wearing my pajamas and winter parka. Not that there are many people around us but I was glad it was still dark out. What a sight!

Dense fog all day, well from seven this morning till nightfall. After then I can't see out the windows too well, this even when it's a clear night and well lit outside? I did notice some mist around the street lamps and earlier it was slippery out so I bet they'll be ice in the morning. It's about 15 degrees out now at around ten at night. It has been between 0-4 degrees much of the day. It's pretty rough on the puppy for potty time. We're just prepping for accidents this weekend. Tomorrow will be just as cold. Monday is supposed to be warmer but also brings between 7-18 inches of snow if the predictions are true.

We have had a very mild winter. We only had one day of snow, which was in November. Otherwise it’s been cold, or warm, and or rainy. Well we won’t be getting as much as other areas of the US, we are expected to have 7 to 9 inches of snow overnight Sunday night. Right now it’s 20° but much colder with windchill factors. I have filled my birdfeeders up, added new suet to the suet feeders, given corn to the crows and put out dry dog and cat food for the ferals.

The snow stopped this afternoon finally. We got in my area around 10" or so. Some nice neighbors cleaned a foot of blowing snow off my van and used the sidewalk blower to clear my entire parking slip. Very nice and I hope I find out who as most people here are like that. Would like to thank them with maybe a box of Merci chocolates. Beautiful -4 out there now but there are over 300 buses stuck on city streets cause they can't get up hills. Lots of accidents, mostly fender benders and sliding off the roads from the black ice. Things are looking up.

Its only the 2nd week of February, but trees and flowers are blooming.

If you sit in the sunshine, here, the winter sun will burn your skin. Today the temp might have set a new record. We usually do not see this kind of warmth until early to mid- April.
Worriesome, the heat index to come later this year.

Snow again! We had rain last night, as expected it melted away. The sky though cloudy didn't look particularly heavy this morning so I thought we'd seen the last of it until next year. However as I was making my morning coffee it started up. Since it was only falling lightly didn't expect it to last but so far it has and it's really coming down now. Wonder if the sun will break though, it's going to melt away. Still what a nice way to start the morning. I can sit at my desk and see it out the two oversize picture windows and out on the balcony through the sliding glass door. The body rests better in cooler temps at night. I get it cool enough that I can snuggle under a light comforter throughout the summer. Perfect!
Today was a tiny bit bananas for a minute there. I knew rain would come. I knew it wouldn't last long. What I didn't know is that in 20 minutes, it would rain down buckets and buckets, hard and fast, to the point where the sideways rain was completely coating the inside of the doors as they open and flooding the foyer of my main building.
When it was over, steam rolled across the pavement due to the temp differences between rain, air and pavement. That part was super cool because it looked like a fog machine in the middle of the day.
The rest was a bit much. Simmer down, now. Simmer down!

All we can do from up here (and there are a lot of us up here) is send money to the Red Cross to help the folks with needs until the storm is past. The gov,. is going to match each dollar the Red Cross gets so there will be a lot of cash flow to help all the people who need it. We will all pray for them as well. Prayers never hurt. Winds in the 34 degree range now and there's been sleet and rain a lot today. Monte had a vet appointment today but had to reschedule. Figured I'd probably have to because my ex swerved a bit here and there driving me home on Christmas when things weren't as bad. He used to race on open roads just for fun at a 100+ mph, use a mix with airplane fuel way back when at the race track and do just fine, so you know when he's swerving staying in is something to seriously think about.

Earlier the forecasters asked people to stay off the roads if possible and if you have to drive then be sure to use the low beams. Right now visibility is at 0.25 mile and that's better than it was earlier.

What I like lately is that it stays light longer. Sunset is around 5:44 and daybreak is around 7 o'clock or earlier. Beautiful sunrises and once in a while a spectacular sunset. Our Nor'easter is coming in tonight. Numbers are all over the place so I am planning on at least a half a foot. The snow will be falling for a two day period so even though 6" isn't really that much it will be a pain trying to keep the drive cleaned up for that period of time.

Well that was fun.........NOT! We got well over a foot of heavy wet snow out of the Nor'easter. I plowed the necessities three times yesterday to keep things open (the drive is a third of a mile long) and will have to do it one more time today. Altitude really played a big part in the amounts of snow people ended up with. I am about a mile from downtown and 400 feet higher in altitude. My friend downtown was telling me she only had a few inches of snow and the roads were just wet while up here it was a winter wonderland.

High of 60*F today, and sunny and clear. It was a beautiful day, birds were building their nests, and it was still a little too cool for worrisome insects. It will get down in the 30s tonight, and tomorrow we'll have more sun and a high of 68*F. I'm so glad there's no rain predicted, because I have to go out into the world tomorrow for a haircut. There's nothing quite like the useless feeling of having my hairdresser make my hair more beautiful than I could ever do myself, and instantly having it fall in misty rain the minute I walk out the salon door. It's unusually warm for December in my neck of the woods. Right now it's 53°F.
We're getting rain instead of snow. I'm cool with that because I missed the rain when I lived on the west coast. Often there were high levels of road accidents (from the build up of oil on the road (https://www.fhvlaw.com/blog/2019/february/how-rain-impacts-california-roads/)), mud slides, floods, etc. I used to brace myself when it rained and I never got used to it. Anyway, it's really nice to have a few days of rain without those concerns.
