Father June will forgive you.
Eventually.
If you make amends to all the TX femmes.
I have already made amends. I don't know what else I can do.

Doughnuts?
Doughnuts?
They go a long way in this house. Don't underestimate the power of a doughnut.

Weeeellllllll....he *did* wind up importing one, so maybe he really meant to say that his favorite kind of femmes tend to stay in cooler climates?

Um....reason 6? (hint: what femme lives here?)
That's a given love! Far too important to make the same list with such trivial things as taxes and DMV fees! Am I out of the doghouse yet???
Love you always!

*sigh* For I was young and a fool when I said such things. I know not what I did.
Keep working on it buddy,,sooner or later that crater you are in will be just a small hole that you have to climb out of,,but it could take years. I'll throw more rope down to you. I'm helpful like that.

Wait a minute! I'm following a trail back, and I don't know if I have all the details, but am I to gather that Ebon said that there are no REAL femmes in Texas???
If that's so, he might want to be careful if he ever comes down to Houston. (Red-headed hackles raising...)

I'm so very sorry that it's come to this.
But after so much time struggling to maintain a friendship with someone, I find that I cannot do so any longer.
I must officially and sadly publicly end my friendship with someone in the Austin community.
Y'all KNOW how much I hate drama but I have to do this publicly. I need your support in this.
I will need you to help me turn my back to this person.
I will need you to help me be strong and not read their DAMNED PICTURE TEXTS full of teh kitteh cuteness.
Yes, it's true. I'm unfriending Blush and Goofy.
Dang it. I'm at least cutting them off from sending me picture texts.

Update for this Friday's extravaganza (it's just too...too to say eggstravaganza):
6pm spaghetti dinner
by 7pm, we can start the egg coloring and basket making, general festivities, good times
We're making baskets for a senior home with Alzheimer's ward -- they have 50 residents there. The activities director told me there are about 20 residents who never have guests or anything. What's wrong with their families???
N-E-way, we're planning on bringing 50 baskets to hand out, with a couple eggs, some candies and a little non-food item like puzzle book or keep-warm bootie socks.
If you haven't already told me or the Oiley Beauhunk you're coming, will you send one of us a PM?
If you're coming, will you please bring a dozen already-boiled eggs? We could use a couple more dye kits.
We'll get some kind of festive little baskets and stuff
For those coming from out of town...don't worry about bringing eggs, too hard to try to transport them and stuff.

In other news, the first hungover college student from upstairs was met by my VERY CHEERFUL AND LOUD voice wishing them a good morning and asking them to pick up the beer cans they flung in the front yard and off the balcony onto my patio.
I was very nice and very very very cheerful and loud. She winced a bit. Ahhh youth.

xpost from FB.
i've been talking with a local band (who has also performed internationally) about doing a shoot with them. they were pretty quick to respond to my initial inquiry and subsequent emails have been heartening.
an except from the latest email from them:
Great idea re: background and concepting.
Background: We started in 2001 playing punk rockified music from the turn of the 19th century. Craig High and I (Bruce Gardner) have recent ancestors that both ran with the Hole in the Wall gang (Jesse James) – so our bloodlines crossed before.
We’ve been to Ireland and England twice, and have had the rare privilege of playing live on BBC Radio 2. We are in pre-production for our 3rd CD that I am hoping will be complete at the end of this year.
We are working to increase our national visibility and will be aligning with some known bands within the genre in order to do so.
i am just.fucking.excited. would appreciate y'all keeping good thoughts for this whole dealio and send me some grand, iconic image mojo.
i'm starting to think that the move to austin is what i actually needed to do. and thanks to my mama for sharing enough of herself with me to allow me to realize that sometimes, ya just gotta go for it.

I'm sure alcohol isn't allowed in and out because they want you to buy from the vendors there. THere are plenty of kids, but there are somethings some people may not want their kids exposed to. Like half-naked people and the reek of pot smoke. But it's an open, friendly gathering of austin folks and there's nothing like it. I'm pretty sure the kiddos have access to face paint and other diversions. Parking is the biggest bitch - I'll probably park elsewhere and ride the bus in. My stamina will depend on the heat/weather. it seems like kind of a free and friendly gathering of people in full celebration mode. One guy groped my (clothed) boob there, so that wasn't cool. There are drum circles, dancing, general silliness, costumes, music, a few people selling their wears, food concessions ( if I remember right), etc. You also run into people you'd never expect. It's random.
I myself will not be wearing paint as a shirt or paisties as a shirt - but there will be plenty who do one or the other. Oh, and I'm not sure what the deodorant per person ratio is either. I grew up in Austin, so I'm used to that hippie smell. :)

It is a must see thing, it is Austin. they do offer parking and bussing in which is necessary as there is not ample parking there at any time. I love to go down and people watch. It willl be cooler in early and late but the later you go the more "Eeyored" the follks get which can be a good thing.

Remember, spaghetti/garlic bread/salad for dinner at 6 p.m. and egg dying starting about 7. There are 50 residents in the nursing home we are taking them to. According to the folks working there, about 20 residents don't get visitors. We are also putting together a candy filled basket for the staff. We thank everyone in advance for bringing a dozen eggs (eggcept out of towners traveling in) already boiled and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night!!!

*sigh*
Some days, my office is just not big enough for two Geminis and all our multi-idosyncrasies.
I'd love to do something if it is. If ya'll can't think of anything else, we have bbq pits here and a big ole pool. No jacuzzi though. Private theatre. Xbox. But no jacuzzi. That Indian restaurant we never checked out. But no jacuzzi.
my son is in austin this weekend for a wedding of a law school friend...

Hmmm...know anybody who has a jacuzzi?
The Hot Flash dance thingy is next Saturday, I believe we promised someone we'd go to that...
I mean, if you know of anyone who has a jacuzzi (even if it only fits about 4 people at a time), pool, Wii and a bbq....hmmm...it seems like there was someone...

We thought about having a housewarming/both birthday get together thingy in mid-May but we just haven't put the effort forth that would be required in planning such a thing.
Ebon's birthday is May 14th and mine is May 31st. My boss' is June 15th and her daughter's is May 3rd. There's some birthdays up in HEAH!

Well, Saturday night I am going to be Angelique's "ass-istant". She is the one who is chair for the Hot Flash dance at Rusty's.
If you don't know what Hot Flash is..
Our demographic is composed of women approximately 30-55 years old with a solid mix of all races and classes.
Hot Flash Dance Parties take you back to the 70s and bring you forward into the 21st century with a mix of 65% retro and 35% contemporary music.
Hot Flash is held early in the evening so you can groove through the entire dance AND make plans to continue to party afterward... at dinner, other parties, or your own private party!
check out the following pages:
http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Hot-Flash-Dances-Austin-Texas/135924296473461

I would LOOVVEEE it if y'all could make it :)
Also, I'm not on call this weekend so I'm down for WHATEVER else y'all wanna do :)

For real? Is it a "female-identified lesbians only" event?
Exclusion policies push my fairness buttons and stir up hurty feelings from my past, when trying to find my community at the only place I knew of, lesbian bars. Women there would tell me to go back to the straight bars where I belonged. Ouch on the "lesbian-only" judgment swinging around and hurting many.
I don't really think the "safe-from-men space" justification flies at a bar and dance.
Sigh. I hope I'm overstepping and reading too much into it. I hope Arwen's wrong about D not being able to go if he wanted to (then I could finally quit speaking to that hooker).
I hope we (that's the royal "we") are not bringing a new queer social event to Austin that would judge against and exclude half of our community.

Well here's their policy:
Trans Policy: F2Ms are welcome at women-only dances as long as they self-identify at the door.
While I understand, that's a bit much for me. It doesn't feel like a good thing.

while it's nice to be welcome at a function i don't qualify for, the cover charge seems a bit steep. if it's women-only, then it's women-only, right? which is fine. however, being required to essentially say "i'm not really a guy" is some major suckage.
how about getting about 20 of us guys together to show up, then insist we be patted down at the door?
what is the policy on MtF?
i can see where the sponsoring group is making an effort toward inclusion, toward allowing guys to participate in community functions. but really?

I wondered the same thing about the MtF policy. It really does suck to have to self id at the door.
But I really do understand the need for guy-only and gal-only space. I respect that.
I just wouldn't feel comfortable there. No harm. No foul. I hope it's a really successful event!

I suppose I didn't think about it either way. Yeah I spoke to the site manager and she said that the person just has to identify themselves as trans at the door. As I am not trans, I didn't know that identifying as trans was a negative thing? Anyway, I understand those of you who don't want to come b/c of that.
Pup...I honestly don't think it's about excluding trans people or being a "female-identified lesbian" ONLY party. It's a party geared toward having women of all ages (though aimed at those above 30), races, classes, sexual orientation come together and have a blast.
Sorry this is causing such a issue, though I don't understand why.

Since this club is also patronized by gay men, I believe the "woman only" speaks to that portion of folks, but I could be wrong. I think its just a "Girls Night Out"

would you be willing to say "i'm not *really* queer" to be able to attend?
i don't think the policy is malicious in intent. i think the wording, the asking people to essentially deny who they are is misguided. it's difficult to see how language can affect others if you aren't in the affected group.

CM! It's not YOU causing an issue, right?
But the policy does hurt a lot of our peeps. I think it's good to air feelings, opposing viewpoints and our unique experiences; we run the risk of starting to think everyone agrees if we never come up against a difference. Narrows the mind and makes conversations dull after a while.
My own issue is calling up the deep hurt feelings of the "get out of our place, you don't belong" I experienced when trying to go to "lesbian-only" clubs as a young(ish) pup searching for belonging. Plus, I get very squeamish about forcing our trans guys to say "yep, I'm not really a guy," and it hurts my feelings FOR them and us.
It's a fun plan for an event that bumps smack into the cold reality that makes up so much of our world, where you have to fit into an accepted gender or appearance or orientation to be welcomed.

It's a lesbian dance, lesbian space. I respect that. It is offensive(however well intended) to ask a trans person to "identify" themselves. Requiring that anyone announce such personal information is offensive. Especially when only a certain group must make the disclosure. Are they checking to see if everyone is gay? There is a HUGE difference between SELF disclosure and required disclosure to attend a dance. You remove a person's agency when you make it mandatory that they announce it.
Honey, I love you and I respect you very much. Please understand that I'm trying to get you to think about this in a different way. It is certainly not a personal attack.

I'm not trying to belabor the point Candace (really, I'm not) but I just wanted to try and provide a bit of a different perspective.
It's got very little to do with actually being trans and more to do with being required to disclose it to someone.
I am transgendered. I do not run around in my daily life and tell folks I meet that I am trans. Some people see me as male, some don't; sometimes I correct pronoun usage, sometimes I don't. Now say I were to go to this dance party and the door person sees me as male. Do I have to disclose that I am anything otherwise? Or if they look at my ID and see my birth name, do I then get a "pass"? Do you see how disheartening this could be?
I've got nothing against the Hot Flash Dances and I get the need for lesbian-only or women-only spaces. But I'm neither a woman nor a lesbian, so we won't be going.

Honey, the only thing is that the policy says to self-id at the door. That's denying an FtM the right to be the man they are.
And, how are they going to prove it? Drop their pants? :)

Lord, I am so tired of this f-in wind. don't know if it's as windy down there in the southland, but this has been going on for about a week or so.
At least it's supposed to get up to 92 or so tomorrow, so good swimming weather. As long as your towel doesn't blow away.

N-E-hooo.....
It seems teh Arwen needs a pool and a BBQ, Gemme and Ebon need a party. D (arrgh sorry about the name usage earlier damn you hooker for leading me down the path) needs something fun to do since he's visiting.
So...
Hey! How about swimming and bbq at Glynneice's on Saturday?
Swim time starting at 2 (shade starts creeping over the pool about 3, it'll be in the shade by about 5)
Barbecue and stuff probably about 5?
If you want to keep hanging out we can play games (fact) and stuff into the wee hours (crap...probably just one wee hour)
Bring yer drinks.
We'll negotiate the other stuff with teh Arwen and see what we come up with.
For god's sake, don't bring any candy. I may make you all take some home with you.
Oh, right -- we'll have healthier alternatives for snacking too.
Other than drinks, is there anything else that we could bring?

While at BdB's there was a table by us with two lovely BF couples. I didn't wander over but it did make me smile.

Unless you've got a better idea? :) Just wanted to see y'all for the holiday. That N. TX man will be here for a full week as well so you can pretend you are only coming to see him. :)
Thanks for making the party happen. Hooker! Of course you know we'd be there if the Beauhunk and I weren't going on that leetle Memorial Day trip!

Just re-posting b/c i hadn't received any RSVP's yet. Please send me a message letting me know if you can come!
What: A Warming of the Boom Boom Room
When: Saturday June 11, 2011 6pm-whenever
Where: My House, pm me for the address if you don't have it.
What We're Doing: I have a ton of games, a big backyard (i'll try to convince those country boys to bring horsehoes), hopefully a Wii by then, and lots of music!
What We're Eating: I'll be making spaghetti as well as a salad with all the fixings. Garlic Bread, too! Just bring what you'd like to drink and whatever else you'd like. If someone would bring dessert that'd be great!
I'm scheduling this party so I can stop putting off the to do list LOL.

Ha this has been hysterical to read. I adore my GPS and always does as it tells me. I'm carless in Austin, so I'll figure out how to get there--- I'm not free until 5:30ish on Sunday evening...so hopefully that won't be too late...
That said, I'm in Austin now---so you all need to tell me...where can a New York Yankee girl get some pink cowboy boots?
Cavender's Boot City on S. Lamar at West Gate Shopping Center is having a tent sale right now. Also there you can find Central Market (upper grocery market) and Amy's Ice Cream (try the Mexican Vanilla.)
