We originally went out to the shelter after I received a phone call from a friend who works there saying, "We have a dog I believe you would be interested in"

No folks, it was not an English Bulldog.

Although, I did see one while shopping in PetsMart and his owner was standing close by... :thinking:

but back to the story...

I am now the mommy to a 2 year old, male, blond and white Lhasa Apso. :awww:

Well, for starters she just moments ago stepped to a heron on the other side of the fence.
I think she was flirting at one point and Arnold got kinda amped up and jealous about it.
Arnold has claimed her as his ,for sure.

She bites our dogs through the fence.

When I let her out to graze, her glee gets the best of her and she honks at the top of her lungs. Then she does a tip-toe fly through the yard.
I have learned to stay out of her pretend "fly zone".

She is definitely going through some hormonal phase , I think.
She has good days ANDDD she lives (I believe) to rumble with me days.
But then at night, she can be heard making the happiest ever goose noise there is.

I've decided to pick her up from now on immediately after or during one
of her aggressive episodes. The first experiment (yesterday)went rather well and I still have all my digits.

Giggle. I love her little goosey mutterings when she is chowing down on something tasty. She sounded so content.

At Emma Long park again, furry children and human children are allowed. Bring swim clothes, beer, towels, games and anything else you need. Bring your appetite as well because Ash will be cooking (I know it's his birthday but you know how he is with the grill) up some burgers and sausages again on the grill. The meat will be taken care of but if you want some side dishes you need to bring them because we're cool with just eating meat. I know Arwen makes some yummy beans! So come on out and wish your brother a happy 80th birthday. Well what time is all of this fun stuff happening?? Be there or be square at 2pm. You got it?

I think it was great fun to see everyone. The dogs certainly did add to the general uproar, didn't they?

Jasper and Candace followed Batman and I home. We didn't get to keep them but we did have a chance to let J and B off leash so they could get down and wrestle. Batman is now completely passed out on the floor. He played for a minute with his new toys from Uncle Conner and Aunt Leah then pretty much fell over. I expect Jasper is crashed out next to Candace on their trip home.

Ashman, you are an amazing human being with one of the biggest and most generous hearts ever. Thanks for including me in your celebration of life.

It was a delight to see old friends and make a new one. Crescent, I do hope you will show up more now that you've resurfaced. We should do coffee or tea some time.

Whoa. I just spent the entire day off doing condo stuff. I kidnapped Gemme at 10 am and didn't return her until 2:30. :)

Then I dropped her off, came home, walked the dogs and headed out to Home Depot to get some more information on appliances and counter tops.

We have all sorts of reasons to live and love in Austin. Great parties from south Austin to Lockhart to Cedar Park. Fun friends to go grab a late snack or an early morning cup of coffee.

Today I was reminded yet again of why Austin is my final home.

Cost will be dinner and 9$ a head for the boat tour. I thought Mi Terra's (http://www.mitierracafe.com/menus_botanas.html) for dinner. Like Austins Matt's El Rancho this place is world famous and has been around since the 40's, and is a must go to when in SA. Sound like a tour guide dont I, anyway food is good and the prices reasonable.

I'll be working at a storage facility. I think the Universe is telling me my days of working in offices is over, unfortunately. But I'll still have a lot of customer interaction, improve my Spanish, and be able to play wi....er, I mean, drive the golf cart.

You should at least understand, if not speak, Spanish in Texas. It's that next door to Mexico thing and makes communication so much easier.

Why would it be unusual to need to know Spanish is Texas? Many of us call it Tejas. :) Mexico is our southern border. Our heritage is better for their influence. Similarly in my home state of Louisiana--the Spanish held it before the French took over. In fact, you can tell who won by what they call the moss hanging from the trees.

The Spanish called it Frenchman's Beard but the French tagged it Spanish Moss.

I love the cultural diversity our lovely melting pot of a country has, don't you?

i think spanish should be required as a second language here. it will give a good base for italian and french, as well.

i found a large hispanic population when i lived out east, in the mid-atlantic and even in the midwest (which also has a sizable bosnian population).

it seems to me that the folks who immigrate to the US are one up on the rest of us here....they speak two languages (at minimum) to our one. i can't understand why we (americans) are so arrogant to say "you're in america, you need to speak english". i have to wonder how many of those folks travel abroad and manage to master the native language of the places they visit.
