I'm there for work until Wednesday then I leave on Thursday midday. I wanted to let Y'all know that Ms. Tabitha is having surgery in the morning. It seems she has 4 herniated discs and so they are going to replace them with cadaver discs. The process ~ while the best way to go about it ~ is tricky: they will make an incision in her throat between her esophagus and her carotid artery, push her esophagus to the side and slide those suckers in there.

She'll be at St. David's North (12221 MoPac) and be there until Friday. She'll be on a liquid diet for 4 weeks (read: Ensure, puddings, soup, liquified grits, etc.) and off of work for 12.

I'm going to the hospital in the morning and stay until it's time for sushi (she knows I have my priorities!), so I'll keep Y'all posted.

Yep, for the neck they go through the front,,I have the scar to prove it! I hope her recovery goes well and am glad to hear that it was only one instead of four! They gave me cadaver bone too; I just made them promise me that they wouldn't give me an ax-murderer's bone such that I would wake up with the feeling of wanting to kill someone! lol. The first four weeks are the worst but I do hope her surgery provides her with what I am sure is much-needed relief now and going forward!

I love this sushi place! They have a Happy Hour with "cheap sushi" from 5-6:30 (or maybe 4:30-6:30....can't remember) Mondays ~ Thursdays.

And yes...I would recommend it.

Spoke with Dr this morning and he did 1 cadaver replacement and aligned the others the placed a titanium plate and screws.
Needless to say I am very uncomfortable

Just got off the phone with Ms. Tabitha....she never ceases to amaze me! Sounded tired, but other than that, she's doing pretty well....she's not going to have to be on a total liquid diet for 4 weeks...he told her when she felt comfortable, she could eat something solid....I'm sure she'll go with baby steps first and not jump into a steak just yet! ;)

Ms.Tabitha...Liquid diets arent all that bad,I was on one for several weeks...wow was really hard for a food hog like me but I found so may things I could eat.The one thing I really missed was chinees food,fried chicken,and of corse steak..one good thing was I lost 23 pounds while on it.Im glad u r doing well just take time to heal..take care.

And the Madonna Inn is a cheesy fun place, way overdone, decorated in a stifling amount of pink upholstery and red velvet. That's just the public areas! The rooms are all different, you get to pick what you want - and they're all overdone in some way. Tons of fun!! The Beauhunk and I took a little side trip to experience it, and we had a blast in one of the "rock rooms."

On the drive to Austin, stop over for a night! It's right off the 101 near San Luis Obispo. Right on your way.
