Shopping! Son is buying me 2 alarm clock radios, a toaster and a new phone for Christmas and I'm picking them out on Amazon today. He bought my current phone back in 2006, so I guess it really is time for a new one. Toaster nice but not mandatory. Two alarm clocks though? This is such a dinky apartment there's only maybe 6 child size giant scissor steps between the bedroom and main living area. However he wants me to have two since sometimes I sleep on the couch and other times in the bedroom. He wants to make sure if I'm ever fallen and can't get up I only have so far to crawl before I can summon help.

Valentine's dinner _out_ tomorrow, like out in an actual restaurant! I'm looking forward to getting dressed up with makeup on and everything. I have already picked out my outfit - red, for Valentine's Day! I had hoped it would be warm enough to eat outside on the patio, but that's not going to happen. But that's okay. This restaurant has been recently remodeled (like it was finished last week!) and it's supposed to be like a fortress against viral transmission inside now. Apparently it has _very_ separate booths, like in a 1900s turn-of-the-century restaurant (like in Hello, Dolly! if you're trying to envision what that might be like - almost like separate little dining rooms). But even though I will only be able to see people from afar, it's still out in public! Which has me a little bit apprehensive, but mostly really excited. Oh, and the food in this place is great, too! Crab cake appetizer, here I come!

Today is part 2 of the beauty videoconference for cancer patients. We did skin care and makeup last week; this week is wigs and head coverings. I will leave work about 5 minutes early to sign on right after work. We're supposed to bring a variety of shapes and sizes of scarves so we can learn to tie them.

A visit from my son. He said he would fix my computer awhile back but got busy and it kind of got pushed to the wayside. I lied and told him not to worry about it because I'd managed to fix it on my own. I didn't want him to have that worry added to his stress. Well after I got my stimulus he told me he'd ordered the parts because he knew I was lying, and he'd be over today or next Friday to set it up. I tried to convince him to let me reimburse him, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. I didn't expect him until next week because he's been so busy, but he told me this morning he's coming over today and bringing a bigger monitor too. I'm so happy, this thing has been giving me so much grief! My son is so kind to me. J too because every bit he spends on me he could just as easily be spending on her.

One of the things I’ve come to miss is a nice rainfall. Usually when it rains in Southern California it’s a disaster with mud slides, landslides, floods, and lots of car accidents from the rain causing the oil to come to the surface of the road.

We don’t have those problems, or not nearly as bad, near Lake Michigan.

Am really looking forward to getting a few days of rain without the anxiety and heartache of seeing people lose property or lives

Son stopping by after work to fix the television. Amazon Video upgraded things. There's no problem at his house but mine didn't take well to the changes at all. He says I need some part to make this old fashioned television set spring back to life, run full speed ahead. Old fashioned? He just bought this set around a year ago I think, definitely less than two. How long do they keep these things out on the front shelves or back in storage anyway?

I'm also looking forward to Easter. It will be my youngest grandson's first. So tired though. Well I saw a three pack of giant Easter eggs – one gold, one silver, one bronze. As to who gets which I'll do it like anniversaries oldest to youngest. Stuff a little money, some pastel Easter color wrapped Hershey's kisses in and call it a day. Just relax, eat drink and be merry while I watch the boys hunt eggs. Being a grandma is so fun. And relaxing.

A short trip to Helen, a small Alpine-themed village in the north Georgia mountains. It's something of a tourist trap, but it has some great beer and good food. It's nearby, and the boy and I will be post-two weeks from our second vaccine shots. I am dying to go _somewhere_!

Walk tomorrow. Yesterday we started out on the opposite side of the park than we usually do and what a difference. The far end should be forced to have signs up that tell it like it is – Hikers Heaven, Joggers Hell. Then at my newly discovered end of the park signs that encourage by actually telling the truth – Walking Path.

Anyhow it's beautiful. There's a community rec center, not open now but will be soon and they have activities there like cards games, pool shoots and things. The pathways are level and easy. Everything is cleaner, there are chair bench swings under trees for shade so if you need to take a break you can have a seat and look out on the river, read or just rest.

I had a nice chat with a young woman out walking her puppy yesterday and enjoyed hearing children in the background on the play equipment laughing. We're taking a picnic tomorrow and this will be our new starting point. J and the baby can go ahead and when I'm done there will be more for me to do than just sit out on hot metal benches under glaring sun, baking my ass off, and trying to read in the wind.

I have applied for a new job. I have loved being a children’s therapist these last 10 years, but getting burned out. Covid was a horrible two-year period! The increase of mental health and behavioral issues dramatically increased. Lack of socialization with age peers and being with their dysfunctional families 24/7 did a lot of damage. This new job works with the polar opposite population, the elderly. I find out Monday if I have the job.

The NFL season finally starting. Every. Single. Game. I have the NFL Ticket so it's all football on Sundays. I'm not thrilled about Amazon doing Thursday Night Football this year but I already have Prime, so I'm not out any extra money for it.

I ordered new Chiefs hats, a tshirt, a fleece pullover, and a KC wristwatch with a red strap. Good lord, this season our division is so tough but I like it this way!

My Poshmark order to arrive. Both sellers have shipped and have tracking numbers to prove it. So I know the screw up isn't a Poshmark or seller issue this time. The post office did kindly think to send me someone else's purchase though - a small flat fold pack of cardboard shipping boxes, the kind you used to be able to pick up at any post office in person for free. I know because they shipped them in clear plastic over wrap. I hope they find my purchases, I don't have a lot of money to be spending on clothes, especially clothes I'll never see. I realized it was time to shop because watching the news the other day I realized many of those shown breaking the law by crossing the boarder illegally were dressed better than I was. Some far, far better. I can't wait until they donate those clothes to charity so I can afford them and look well if not fashionable at least as good as they used to.

This weekend, a family vacation with Daddy, my daughter, and my parents. My daughter NEVER takes time off work so I'm really glad she made efforts to get away with us for a weekend. We have hotel rooms right on the ocean in a quaint small New England town. Plans are a relaxing weekend of farmers markets, book stores, fresh caught fish, and ocean breeze.

I'm looking forward to seeing my family tomorrow. I've been planning to visit my mom and sister tomorrow, and I found out this week that my sister has invited the whole family for lunch. She's making some new soup recipe that she and my niece are crazy about (all I know is it involves three different cheeses and Rotel) and I am taking the cornbread. Tomorrow should be the perfect day for that kind of thick and creamy soup - we're expecting cold and clear weather. It will be so great to get to see everyone since I missed them at Christmas, which made me very blue at the time.

I'm looking forward to a trip to the mountains next week. We're going to Ellijay, apple capitol of Georgia. We'll be avoiding the tourist places except for one quick stop by the gift shop on the way out of town to buy some of the most delicious apple butter on the planet. We'll make a quick stop at the liquor store on the way into town, which is actually in a town called Ellijay East - I guess somebody didn't want a liquor store inside the city limits of Ellijay. Southern towns are funny that way. But let's face it, there's nothing much else to do in Ellijay besides drink all day, eat apples, and watch the sunrise and sunset from the balcony.

This will be Brittany's first out-of-town trip; it's just a few days, and we'll be staying in a house, so it will be a good first trip experience for her. She has a new travel crate all ready to go. I already know she'll be good in the car - she likes car trips. She'll enjoy running around on the mountain too; at least, as much running as she can do on a Flexi-lead. She'll also enjoy helping us eat snacks - that's the other thing we do while we watch sunsets and drink craft beer in the mountains.

Knee surgery next month and I'm feeling good about it. I canceled the last time I had it scheduled (in 2021) because I just couldn't get my ducks lined up and it didn't feel right. It feels right this time and I got my ducks in a row so I'm going through with it.

My niece will come to stay with me for a few days and a friend will look in, too, but I think I'll manage pretty good pretty on my own. The muscles around my knees are pretty strong from riding for the last couple years so that helps.

My other knee is scheduled to be replaced in late spring providing all goes well with this one.

You are lucky! You're getting to have the surgery. I can't have it until I lose some weight, but I really need it. I've heard great things about it from people I know who've had it - mainly, that recovery was near instantaneous and they immediately felt better after they had it. I'm so happy for you! Thanks, Clay. Regarding help. I'm really hoping I can do without much help. My introverted side comes out when I'm ill and I just want to be left alone. Pray for me at the foot of the bed and leave a tray at the door ... I'm hoping I can be on my own after a few days. We'll see.

…getting the bandages off the left knee tomorrow. I could take off some of the bandages today, but the PT wants me to wait till she’s here tomorrow.

…in-home PT for this week. The doctor ordered it after I did so badly on the step. I haven’t tried the steps again. Am relectuant with one really bad knee and one recently replaced knee. I’m glad PT is in the home this week and then I’ll start PT at their facility the following week.

…waking without the walker. I do it a bit now, but only about 30%.

…getting on my bike again. I lost interest in the bike shortly before the surgery for some reason but I’m ready to put a mile or two on the speedometer again..

… getting the right knee fixed next month. Am anxious to have two knees without arthritis in those joints.

Going to visit my Mom and the fam in a couple of weeks. Baby Charlie is going to his first Easter egg hunt in the morning. My sister is making a big pot of soup for lunch, and I'm taking my famous cornbread. I'm also taking my famous dog, who hasn't yet been introduced to the family - or the other dog in the family. I'm anxious to see how Brittany will get along with another female dog, and also the baby. I'm taking her travel crate so she can have some alone time when she needs it. Also, the other dog lives downstairs with my niece and her fiancé, and we always visit upstairs when I go, so there will probably not be a lot of dog contact between the two. Should be an exciting visit! - but hopefully not too exciting.

In the short term: I got accepted into a genealogy class that is a big, big step to certification. We have the first assignment, and the first Zoom meeting in a couple weeks. I want to get off to a great start for this long haul (15 months!)

In the long term: vacationing in Michigan in September, touring Mackinac Island and Sault Ste Marie.

In the even longer term: a cruise around England, Ireland and Scotland next summer after I finish the aforementioned class.

A new season of Yellow Jackets!

Have been wondering what I’ll do with my new knees. I am so ready to hit the road and go to some summer festivals, but I’ve decided to stay home and unpack my garage. That’s the only place I still have boxes from the move. I know I have an InstaPot and an AirFryer packed away, lots of books, family photos (!) and who knows what else.

My little city has a city-wide garage sale in August. Hopefully, I’ll have everything unpacked in time for the garage sale and whatever is left over will be given away to the good will and the women’s center.

Am also looking forward to getting a smiley face tattoo on each knee. Maybe.

I’m still looking forward to the year of gardening! I put my peas and beets in yesterday. My dining room and my enclosed front porch are filled with shelving units, grow lights and seedlings. Today I sowed lime, green zinnias, black, beauty, zucchini, cat dip, chamomile, three types of basil, two types of watermelon, two types of cucumbers, two types of dill, toothache, plant, more snake gourds, and several others that I can’t remember right now. Over the weekend I had helpers come out and we installed the cattle panel arches. Next weekend I’m putting up 90 feet of trellises for the tomatoes to climb on. Oh God! I can’t wait to get my hands deeply in the soil!!!!

We are discussing catching the Eurostar, the channel train to Paris. I so want to see the Eiffel Tower up close. And, as an added bonus, I'll be seeing the prep to the 2024 Summer Olympics!!

A new adventure was planned last night. My bestie and I are going to get in the Christmas spirit early, like first week of Dec. The famous hat maker, Stetson, has a mansion on the other side of the Florida coast. We are going to tour the home while its decorated. It's going to be a two day adventure. First day we are stopping in a quaint Victorian/Country town and stay in a famous Bed and Breakfast. I'm excited, I've never done a bed and breakfast before. This town will be dripping with holiday decorations as well. About 40+ days to go!
I was telling my bestie..we can get out all our holiday tops, jewelry and handbags! Oh yay!!

A possible trip to Panama City Beach in April. Staying at my favorite mom and pop motel right on the beach. Going to rent a one-person go cart for riding around on the beach. We will grill out steaks on the deck of our motel at least one night. Eat at the New Orleans restaurant another night. And the other nights - seafood, seafood, seafood! We'll also rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach - our motel has two guys with a beach rentals hut, and they always take good care of us - moving the umbrellas when we want, keeping stray frat kids away from us and out of our chairs when we're elsewhere. If only there was a tiki bar . . . but we'll take along our trusty cooler.

Spring with all its rain to clean up what winter has left behind. To see all the new life growing right before our eyes. Trees get their leaves and flowers bloom galore, the sky shines brighter and sooner to welcome the day. People get out and about fixing up their gardens and making plans for summer vacation. Spring is a time of renewal to the earth and gives us warm, breezy days of summer to come. BBQs, trips, new friends and old acquantances. So much that it would take a book to even start to say the wonders of spring.

This train travels almost 200mph and is in the underwater tunnel for about 20 min. The entire trip, one way is approx 2 hours and 15 min. Then another 45 to Disney Paris.

About 10 folks from the days of my misspent youth are getting together Thursday. We used to run around town like hooligans in our early 20s. Now we're all in our 50s - it will be interesting seeing how much everyone has changed. Apparently, now our idea of a good time is cocktail hour followed by dinner at an expensive restaurant. I can't wait to see everybody!

Sometime this week I'm getting a tattoo. I dont have any! She is taking me. She got one a couple of weeks ago and I want one before I leave for vacay...11 more days!! We have discussed how we will miss each other. It's like a 5 hour time difference. We are going on an app so we can see where each other is. She can follow me around London and Paris. Last week she gave me this beautiful crystal rock (Larimar) to take with me. A very sentimental thing ( swoon).

This is so easy breezy and so comfortable.
I'm gonna have to say, this feels really good! Everyday makes me smile.

You may want to consider that you have to wait 2-4 weeks after getting a tattoo to get into any kind of water - swimming pools, hot tubs, the ocean, lakes. You can't even take a bath; you have to take showers. I don't know if your vacay plans include any water activities, but it's just something to be aware of. And, use lots of sunscreen. You can't wear any tight clothing over it. It's basically a wound, and you have to take care of it until it heals, or you will have to get touch-ups.

I did get one yesterday. She took me. I got the most beautiful font, spelling out "faith" on the side of my wrist. Very feminine. I can see it always, like when I'm driving, holding onto my bike handles, holding my phone..almost 2 inches long. It's my first! And it was easy!
My artist put this clear adhesive tape over it. Its water proof. Whew!!
She got one too, on her chest. I got to watch as she laid on the table in only her sports bra. It was totally hot!
