But first I have to get through today which apparently is "rob a mall day" and I will say if you take part in that, I have no respect. I do not know the reasons behind "rob a mall day" but I suspect some people are going to claim its because cooperate/big box stores have "drowned out the little guy" which I totally get. However, I do not think stealing from the big guy helps the little guy. Now, buying from the little guy, supporting your local businesses, that helps! I am a big believer in shopping local :) I am also a firm believer in not being an asshat and stealing.
Then of course, I guess some people will say they are taking part in today because "I saw it on Twitter" or something equally rediculous. To which I say, the world is full of followers and the unthinking masses and more than its fair share of asses.

Two things :)

One, for BG, I attended a summer camp from age 4 to 12 out in (then) rural Summit County, Ohio. Thanks to the wonders of Facebook, I recently re-found some campers and even the son of the man who owned the property then. Many of us had close to vintage photos of the camp, which was established out there in 1928! It closed sometime in the 1980's but many of the structures are still there and in the original form.

More for giggles than anything else, I asked the son if he would mind if I nominated the property for consideration for inclusion on the Ohio Historical Properties list. He agreed! With his blessing and help, I just sent in the application and photos. Maybe nothing will come of it, but what if it did? I've seen historical markers on more obscure places. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So we'll find out something maybe in a few weeks.

At any rate, some of the ex-campers and counselors are talking about rebuying the land and restoring it for picnics or cultural activities.

Two, in a couple of Saturdays I'm going to attend a seminar/book fair sponsored by the Arkansas Genealogical Society. Although my roots aren't in Arkansas, one branch of my family came out of Virginia and I suspect there are some Civil War vets there. Anyway, there's likely to be a lot of useful hints and references to be applied elsewhere. I need friends, and all these people enjoy doing the same thing I do :).

It's my last class of this semester with the teens I've been working with. We've been studying the history of sushi and Japanese food art/bento boxes.
Tomorrow we cook in silence, listening to classical music, while they create artistic plates of food for themselves, their parents and younger siblings.
I've put together a big buffet of items for them to pick from to make sushi, nori rolls, and bento art.

Start of a new semester for our homeschool group
Which means my cooking class turns from teenagers to 5 little peanut girls, 6-10 years old. We are making sweet potato soup and molasses bread.
And it means my daughter will be starting the new teen chorus group, yoga, history of math, and art classes lined up for the semester.
And I just plain love Fridays because it's my day off from work and I get to buddy up with my friends/parents of the other kids at our homeschool group. We are all so different and have so much fun together. They feed my soul.

looking forward to...Sunday's run on the beach I've not seen in a week! 7mi leading to 14mi of clear, crisp, but warm light on the veridian changing sea...damn I have missed this beach, and this run...they chained off the entrance, perhaps to keep folks safe from the ocean's surge last weekend...but I'm biting at the bit, and want to run...want to feel the sea breeze against my thighs, and the sand pull at each foot fall...yes, I miss the run...and the beach.

The place I'm talking about is Richland Balsam near Waynesville on the Haywood-Jackson County line. Elevation is just over 6000 feet and the view is breathtaking!
