I've had a flu the past few days but I did manage to walk to the greenhouse, water and fertilize plants. Mostly just standing around in my yard looking at all the stuff that has to be done and too tired n sick to do anything about it. I did post an ad for help today. Help today would be so nice
found out some valuable information
made some students LAUGH hard
read the part of Vladimir in Waiting for Godot -- I think the students' minds are a bit blown away by this play!

Scrubbed all of the winter dirt n pond grime off of the furniture in the screened patio.
Vacuumed the patio
Hung two khaki canvas tarps on one end of the patio for more privacy from da tea party lady next door. :praying: Maybe she will go glare at the neighbor on the other side of her now. Oh yeah, the tarps help to shade my patio nicely, which helps keep my living room cooler.:sunglass:
Drug my big ass gas grill out of the storage pen to the back of the house so I can use it. This was a feat in and of itself! It is a stainless grill, but the manufacturer failed to put stainless screws in the damn thing, so the screws have rusted in this humidity. My poor grill fell apart as I drug it across the lawn.
Next to do: Buy stainless steel screws.

Took 40 mins but resolved a customer's bill issue... the associate that took her payments CHARGED them back. Customer was heated and will be closing her account.. but I did resolve the issue at hand =/ One call to credit center, one to corporate, and three discussions with a manager. Oi. Customer did thank me for fixing the $285 payment and complimented me on my patience, said I was 4stars and that I deserve a raise (I know a lot of customers say it, if only our managers listened!)
Had lunch with a co-worker.
Explained the QSP program to a couple that was looking to make a $7k purchase.. Informed them if they got all the prices and such from each department, we could submit it to our team and they could receive discounts, and then they could buy it with a consumer card from us and possibly get an additional 5% off. They were absolutely tickled pink with me after that.
Helped a co-worker with an SOS return, got an associate to get the customer's correct door ordered, and rang them out while getting them a 20% discount too.
Helped a co-worker apply to jobs in other stores so she can have one when she moves.
E-mailed my department manager.
Sorted the return slips.
Cleaned and such.
Went through Internet orders and noted which ones had come in and needed customers' notified.
Anything I accomplished today was work related. Totally felt like I earned my paycheck halfway through my shift, LOL!

Work started early for me today. No sooner had I got inside than the customer that would turn out to be an all-dayer popped in. So, at work I did all kinds of fun things, like cleaning spaces and patrolling the grounds, and transferring customers to new spaces, and spending half the day playing tag with our HelpDesk. I wound up cutting my lunch short to spend time with the needy customer and also wound up being a little late when leaving due to him as well. Nice guy...was a professor for 20 years...but he's definitely a talker.
Got gas, got home and cleaned up for our date night dinner out, went out and ate like there was no tomorrow, went to Wally World to pick up a new router and a few other things, came home and got out of our clothes as fast as we could. We're still miserable and it's been 5ish hours since we ate. Of course, I've been dosing myself with lemon water to help flush the sodium I consumed out but still. The belly; it hurts. Whined to Ebon about the belly hurting and he whined back to me about his hurting too. Put away groceries, played online and listend to some music. Ebon's watching his scifi stuff and I'm listening to it in the background too.

because of the surgery, I made out my living will, power of attorney, and my will....its all legal and official...now I can go into the surgery and have no pause for concern if I do not come out of the surgery alive. This is a huge accomplishment. And one everyone should consider, even tho they are not going into surgery. Affairs need to be in order.

WE cleaned out some drawers and threw stuff out and dusted the furniture, then had dinner of pot roast and she had potatoes with it. NOw getting ready some TV and relaxation for the night.
I did some sewing on the bags which have been sitting and waiting for me to 'do some sewing' for a good month...
I don't feel 'accomplished' as much as I made a dent in my inertia...
if I could get them done then I'd qualify as a full on 'accomplishment'...
they are not hard, I'm just tired of the whole style...
(or perhaps I am just lazy!) :>
made some breakfast for us
relaxed
napped
laughed

...flew in on the redeye from AZ (landing 2 a.m. AZ time, 5 a.m. FL time) :flying:
...drove 1-1/2 hours home, stopping for coffee and a bagel on the way
...hauled my suitcase and computer bag into the house
...petted all the animals, since they all came to greet me
...crawled into bed next to my sweetie and slept until noon
...put a load of laundry in
...stalked Scoote online and noticed that she reeeaaalllllyyyyy wanted to go to the beach
...the two of us piled in the car, drove to Strawberry's for a yummy burger, and then headed to the beach :beachkids:
...walked on the sand, got a little wet, found several coconuts but not many shells
...stopped for ice cream (for her) and a chocolate malt (for me) on the way home
...cleaned up the pool a little bit
...sat on the couch to watch tv together and fell asleep :alarm:
...woke up to eat a yummy dinner my sweetie made :love1:
I have moved closer to 'accomplishment'
the six bags are ready for the final top sewing and then I needa put in the rivets...
they are all hanging and ready for me to finish them tomorrow...
at which point I will have moved from 'accom' to be able to add the final 'plish'
I guess I could say that I *have* accomplished getting closer to being done than I was this morning...HA!!...the straws are a falling' fast and I'm grasping them as quickly as I can!

Started watching hockey at noon! Didn't budge from my seat for a few hours. Then decided I'd have to if I wanted to eat tomorrow. So my sister and I went and picked up some groceries.
I will be housesitting in early May for a friend and will be out of town. So we then went and cast our ballots at an advance poll for the federal election.
We hurried home and cooked dinner and then turned the hockey games back on.

I actually took the day off. Met my girlfriends for brunch and they let me have it for not making enough time for them and working too damn much!!

Ate before work(a serious accomplishment!): special k and a blueberry muffin
Worked, worked and worked some more
Helped co-worker apply for more jobs
Reminded asst mgr about my time off request and he a-okay'd it
Looked into work-provided life insurance (it's pretty cheap but I'm not entirely comprehending it)
Grocery shopped on lunch once the hell storm took a break (sheets of rain and hail that tore our flowers all to hell :( ).. fell off the healthy weight loss track and was reading Jo's thread about about healthy weight loss and it guilt-tripped me into getting back on it! So my shopping included: whole wheat pita pockets, Kashi Pumpkin Spice Flax granola bars, pineapple bites, red seedless grapes, baby carrots, lettuce, asparagus, artichokes, boneless chicken breast for tomorrow's dinner, a bag of Harvest Cheddar sun ships, and a diet pepsi to curb my soda craving and some chicken caesar pasta salad for my lunch.
Came home and put groceries away..was in a mindless food craze so made a bowl of cereal because I didn't trust myself to not binge, and snacked on a snack pouch of the pineapple bites (80 cal packs) and a granola bar. Only finished the bowl of cereal, one granola bar and a few of the bites.
Now going to marinate chicken breast in italian dressing overnight.. Paired with jasmine rice and steamed asparagus tomorrow night. Will be making a lemon-glazed poppy seed 'cake' for dessert.
Goals to accomplish tomorrow: ReCycle, get year-round tires put back on my truck (after bribing Bard with DD coffee and a donut), turning in a whole lotta change we got perhaps.. make final payment on my dress.. dishes.. then home to cuddle and watch the storm come in again that we're hearing about.
:seeingstars:
(Thank you Jo for creating this thread. On the days I think I've been lazier than sin, typing it all out makes it sound like a lot more :hangloose: )

How do you kill weeds with vinegar? Do you mix it up with water & pour it directly on the weed itself? I have a couple of weeds in the front lawn that I want to kill, but have no idea of how too. I have used the usual weed killer from Home Depot that you hook up to a water hose.
Thanks,

While I was browsing care2.com I came across this article and found out about using vinegar to kill weeds, for those that asked:
Kill weeds and crabgrass growing in sidewalks and driveways by pouring vinegar onto them. A half-and-half solution of vinegar and water can even kill garden slugs if it’s sprayed directly onto them.

Slept in - oops! - but got to work on time
Had a busy, hectic day but resolved complaints
Succeeded in not beating the loaders for being "too busy" when I needed help
Napped on lunch, though still tired
Went to the bank after work and deposited cash (they were closed!)
Checked bank when I got home
Saw an overdraft fee and called bank's 800# immediately
Was refunded the $34 fee - one allowed every 12 months, lucky me
Made note not to use card until pay day because it's in negative still for 3 days
Made list of bills and due dates
Debating food and thinking of ignoring laundry
I could just take a long nap :seeingstars:

submitted 25 work applications online
having some freshly brewed columbian coffee w/cream, cinnamon & honey

been listening to various songs this morning
will probably wander a bit today
(go for a drive)
I managed to unpack a bit of my stuff today

I've been wanting to buy some bras, but the cost of three bras
went to Lowes today: I bought cinder blocks & slats of heavy wood
to make a frame for my broken bed - which my lovely lumps will thank
me later tonight *lol*
Got some chinese take out,

for in the morning - love doing the puzzle
It was beautiful here today!

I packed up the first of the Mother's day gifts I'm giving her this year...
I got half way through a bag for Me...I decided I deserved a leather travel bag so I'm working on one...I am devising some new designs so it's taking a bit of time to do the prototypes...I think it will be okay...

Washed all my makeup brushes.
Did 3 loads of laundry.
Unloaded and put away dishes.

Caught up on lost sleep between last night and this morning
Went to work
Came home and ate a lunch of noodles, salad and grapes
Went back to work and tried not to pull my hair out (successful!)
Managed not to gripe too much about people still in the store 30 mins after we closed
Went grocery shopping again after work (I am noticing a habit...)
Will mention 90% of the purchase was veggies so I can justify it
Gave advice to a friend
Talked to another friend
Ate my second salad for the day and some tuna in a pita for dinner
Took the trash out
Washed a load of laundry
Hung up all the clothes I've neglected to hang up in the kiddo's room
Wondered why I can't get myself to hang up all mine, lol..
Keep making a note to catch up on laundry but failing
I am recognizing work is stressing me out lately, but I am glad I am not bringing it home. Just stressing during my scheduled shift hours. That's pretty normal, right? I'm just not used to being "OMGWTH is going on?!!!". At least it ends when I punch out for the day :)

Sunday...
woke up to the alarm at 6:30 a.m. (which makes me up at that time both days this weekend....sigh)
threw on some clothes and jumped in the car
stopped for gas, and Starbucks
drove to the airport, arriving to pick up my gate pass at 9:15 for Rooster's 9:50 arrival
got told the plane was early and landing ....ummmm...now
run through terminal
encounter enormous line at security with a sign "wait from this point is 30 minutes"
get completely flustered and upset that my 13 year old son is on the other side of this 30 minute wait, wondering where I am
attract the attention of a (nice) TSA agent who strolls up and asks if I'm okay.....evidently my antsiness was a bit of a red flag (understandably)
explained the situation to her
she tells me that if I'll volunteer for the backscatter, she'll get me through faster
I agree
TSA looks at me naked
I get through security in under 10 minutes
run through the rest of the terminal
arrive at gate, out of breath, just as the last passengers (including Rooster) are walking off
give him embarassing hugs in public
buy him Chinese food in the airport (at 9:30 in the morning...ick...but that's what he wanted) because his asshat father neglected to feed him or buy him food for the plane
collected his suitcase, and my car
drove just under 2 hours home
relaxed a bit
went grocery shopping...still can't find a decent ham
bought chicken instead
discovered Rooster has eaten ham non-stop for the last week and is immensely relieved that we're not having it again
made fried chicken, corn on the cob and steamed broccoli for dinner
Scoote made the mashed potatoes
ate
made a little chicken salad for Scoote
made pineapple jello for Scoote (not sure if she likes that flavor, but we'll see)
unloaded and loaded the dishwasher
ate a bit more
relaxed and watched tv

I killed my toe this morning.
I was like five minutes away from walking out the door for work. I had left my large (very heavy and keyword = unbudgible) toolbox out because I had done some little fix-it things around inside the house early this morning. (tightened doorknob on 2nd bedroom, etc.) I was headed to get my shoes and did not step high enough over the toolbox with my left foot. Yikes, I was immediately rolling around on the floor in my boxers, holding my foot, daring not to look at it because I was totally convinced I had knocked my toe completely off. Special words were spewing out of my mouth, some I did not realize I knew until then ... some were coined special words that I made up on the fly. The dogs immediately tried to rally around me to see if they could help. All I could do between rolling on the floor and continuing with my special words was tell Kelly and Kevin to please get back ... and don't run off with my missing toe.
:(
limped into work thirty minutes late ...

got home as the Mr Attitude(our kitten grayson) comes sauntering around the corner of the house(he managed to find the one spot i didnt block from outside of fence and dug under it)
got his lil ass back in house and went around to fill in hole
grabbed a heavier than it looked paver and propped it against fence
gave him a stern talking too as he laid there looking at me all pissy
went back to bed for a bit after taking a pain pill
got up and dressed
went to get the Prince from school
went and got our passports ordered for the Bahamas trip in June
grabbed a cheesesteak on way home
getting ready to take the Prince to get a haircut

I finally accomplished sucking up enough guts to look ... to see if I still had that toe. It is there. It is purple ... all over, in fact. Hurts like a son of a bitch!
Scootie, I see where you were the one who had ... just had to post the "LOL" when you repped me! All along, I suspected it would be you to laugh!
Heh Heh! It is funny to me now. I wish I had a video of it to post. Pure slapstick ... my red checkety boxers would have added a nice touch had we been able to get the video. Kelly and Kevin's concerned little faces would have been priceless ... those two trying to stand over me, plus dodge all the rolling around.
Just before noon, I owned up to our secretary why I had to call and tell her I was going to be late. She got a bang out of it too. What is up with toe injuries being so funny??? When I was a child, I would laugh when Charlie (father) caught his little toe on the corner of the wall on his way to his bedroom. He did that often and e.v.e.r.y s.i.n.g.l.e t.i.m.e, I would laugh like hell.

I have had one of those days where just about everything has struck me in a funny way. I laughed to myself at myself all alone in my cubicle today at work about that toe incident. But I will tell you and all jokes aside ... when I was on the floor this morning, I thought I was going to f*cking well pass out from the pain.
Yes, I got the shoes on and that is because I wore a different pair than the original intended ones. The pair I wore are a little too big. I always wear thick socks with them - they feel like soft comfy house shoes. Just what I needed today!

The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day!
The lawn boy came and did some more yard work.
Did the dishes
Spent the afternoon decorating a box for my Sunday school kids for gifts when they have attended 4 weeks in a row. (They thought the other gifts were too childish for them.. :giggle: I guess being in the 4th and 5th grade they wouldn't like the same things as kindergarten and first graders).
So I got them some fun gifts at the dollar store. Cant wait to see their eyes light up.and cards to make for their mothers.
Played with the dogs
Took a nap
Now gonna go kiss that hunk who just walked in the door...

Placed a Craigslist ad seeking cinder blocks and old shelving, boards, etc for the greenhouse.

What I acomplished today was doing a whole lotta big first aid on my son,he wrecked this vulcan1500 motorcycle when he ran over something and blew out the front tire, on what he has no idea.He is as stuborn is his momma and wont go to the ER to get checked over.Nothing is broke but he has road rash really bad and the skin on his finger tips is blistered off.At the moment he is wraped up like a mummy cause of the road burn..I know him,if the bike can be fixed he will fix it and ride on...while I quietly try not to worry. So far all is well, he sounds ok but I will keep a wary eye on him for a fue days no matter how much he gripes about it.

Another productive and prosperous day....
Went through the mamouth roll-top desk and sorted and packed it AND the file cabinet.
Listed a bunch of stuff on Craigslist.
Sold some things already.
Took two boxes of books to McKays and got $83 credit for them and bought two new books (since I packed the 20 or so that I had in the "to read" section, duh).
Went to Pier 1 and spent the gift card my bro and sis-in-law gave me for Christmas.....four years ago. :|
Now to read my new book and probably doze off for a nap.

Not much for work because I was uninspired...but otherwise
made coffee
breakfast and packed a lunch for Rooster
made Scoote some jello
took him to school
emptied and reloaded the dishwasher
took a shower
called and scheduled the wind mitigation inspection
called and scheduled the A/C annual service
vacuumed the whole house, except the boys' bedrooms
worked with Rooster to crank out a science paper he's been putting off and struggling with
ate KFC that my sweetie brought home
found the big waste of A/C and covered it temporarily...the previous owner of this house was a mo....'nuff said
fed cats
washed throw rugs
made a shopping list, but didn't get to the store
Frustrating and uninspired day....but at least I got a few things done....

- Starting to get, albeit slowly, back into writing again, it's been a few months, so I need to get my brain back into 'writing' and not just 'thinking about writing' mode.
- Got my new(er) computer set up, may have spent an hour swearing very loudly making Mum laugh while I figured out the monitor connected to the other port in back of it :seeingstars: and finally got all my crap downloaded onto it so I could carry on doing all my usual stuff online, and all I can say is thank f*ck for google chrome ...
- Getting caught up with friends I've not talked to in a while and making sure that all's well and it's just a case of working hours getting in the way of getting online.
- Getting settled and my life going back to a far more even, stalker-free, kilter!

Laerkin I adopted a new kitty today from the animal shelter. Well, he's an eleven year old boy.
I took him straight to our vet and got a wellness exam, shots, etc done.
I went out to the store and bought new cat stuff for him, litter box, food, scooper, toy
I stopped and bought my dinner
Earlier today I went to work
and now I'm ready for bed after a long busy day.

Well,
I took a vacation from accomplishments this past week or so
because it was enough to just wake up and face another day.
And that's what I'm doing today:
facing the day with a beautiful smile in my heart
and attending to the present moment of right now.
We've had some really wicked stormy weather lately
and today, amazingly, it's gorgeous outside
(minus the heavenly veil of pearly clouds).

Up extremely early for commute to freelance job
After observing for 1/2 hr I decided to jump in and actually do the job. A few minor mistakes but I think I did pretty well!
Back home in time to catch UEFA Champions League match between Barcelona and ManU - - - although I did take a teeny, tiny nap.

A whole lotta nada.
We went to garage sale. Fail. Nothing good.
I looked through a bunch of my old clothes to see if I could find a pair a shorts I've been missing since we moved. Fail.
Also tried to take a nap. Fail.
Tried to get some _______. Fail. (will try again later!)
I completed today's self-assigned component of the application process:
I choose pictures
burned them onto a disk, all. by. myself.
went to office depot and got two of each one printed out onto heavy stock paper...
I may whittle the choices down a bit today, OR, I may continue to pat myself on the back for having done the little I got done and do more tomorrow...
it's all Okay since the applications are due by the 3rd...and My due date to send them is first thing tuesday morning, which I'll do...
I also made up more bags of 2 and 3 point snacks...
I did make a batch of quiona this morning with my new flrc...I didn't do it very well, so I'll try again...this time I will soak it for an hour or more to get rid of the bitter taste (I let it soak half and hour or so), and cook it with a bit less water...still, for me, it was an accomplishment--the first step to success....
and...I was kind to myself and didn't judge anything I did, or didn't do, with an eye to maximum negativity...(yeah, I know that was kind of baby-woo-woo---happens to the best of us hard-nosed cynics!!)
OH I also got some more Hello Kitty stuff for the raffle tote bag I'm gonna make...and all the stuff is at my fair market price, half off or better! :)

Walked my dog, had breakfast on my deck, went to Century 21 to get my perfume,Chanel 5 (it's the best place to get perfume, they give you a $10 gift certificate for each perfume purchase!), visited two new places in Soho to cash in on some groupons (had a lovely tea at Harney's and bought lovely things at Kiteya), went to Housing Works and bought three books (Lord Peter Wimsey's Cookbook, Alice Waters' Chez Panisse Cookbook, and Samuraï Sushi, a field guide to identifying and appreciating sushi and sashimi). Later made dinner and watched a French film! Full day!

I started at 9:30 this morning. It's in the mid 90's and humid, so staying inside the a/c was not bad. I had on gym shorts and a t shirt, but switched to an over sized Tank top....nobody here to see me, and I sifted through 9 file boxes (picture the haystack) looking for the proverbial needle. It was 8 pieces of very important paper that is needed for an afternoon brief tomorrow. I owed this attorney big time........felt good to do this for her.
I texted her to tell her I had all of the pieces, and she is home, dressed similar, working, so I scanned them to her....that will lessen the stress for tomorrow.
Ever notice how much *work* work you get done at home.......?
Other than that, I made an all veggie, with goat cheese on wheat crust pizza that I am going to throw on a stone on the outdoor grill and lay on the sofa and watch some news. Oh...one more thing......I cleaned up the kitchen after I made my pizza mess. Thats all folks!

Got 8 hours of sleep
Got up and called the vet
It will cost about $240 for exam/vaccines/blood work for the kitty since she's never been.
Sooo, once the fleas are gone, off to the vet she'll go! Poor baby.

Complained to management about my upstairs neighbor.
Almost got lost twice in unfamiliar parts of town.
Met some new families.
Talked to a bunch of people.
Did a ton of paperwork.
Made some grits for dinner.
Ate a cookie.
Reminded self that I am an elitist snob about some things.

I think that's it so far ...
I went to the store on valencia street, as planned...I showed some of my carry bags, and some of my lap-top bags to the owner...she liked them and said she'd be happy to carry them...we are going to do consignment for now, which is fine since she doubles the price, rather than some places which take a higher mark-up...I won't get the same as at a show or selling on line (which I suck at doing)...but, they will get seen, and it's fine by me...I'll go back next week with a selection and see what happens from there...the store is a good fit with some of my lines...
mostly I am glad I Did. It!!...it's such a struggle to 'get out there'...it is for most folks who make things---the whole selling part is the challenge...
so, it's not Great, but it's good (for me) and I'm glad I got over myself enough to do it...
I did other stuff, but I already yapped about that, and will do more of it in another thread...

Way to go..high 5 ^^. That is a way for someone else to enjoy the wonderfyl stuff you make. I know someone who has her wonderful works on Etsy, but I don't know how well they sell.
I know what you mean about selling stuff. I have trouble with my paintings, and usually let someone else do it for me.
