Last year my team was assigned to assist another team with programming and sys administration support. The manager of this team contacted me yesterday ... One of his scheduled services is hosed up ... He is not a technical person so he is unable to do anything aside from freaking out and wringing his hands. Attempted to get admin privies on all 3 of his servers yesterday but the guy who does this was out. I have several theories and am dying to get a look-see at the Event Viewers on all 3 of those machines. This guy did an excellent job in writing down the exact times since last Friday his app got hung up and crashed. This will be interesting. :)

.....which will consist of a looooooong road trip to see my mom in Illinois, then on to Texas to visit the dear wife's side of the family and to see Mom-in-Law and Stepdad-In-Law and the stepchildren. :) :heartbeat::awww:

It's been a long time since I've made a loooooooong road trip, but since I'm now retired, it's time to enjoy the time on the road with the lovely gal who shares my name. I have to admit....I love truck stop buffets. In the South, they have the BEST cooked veggies, potatoes and meat!!! I'm looking forward to good ol' fashioned Southern food, too.....like seasoned collard greens and cast iron skillet-baked corn bread!! :winky::heartbeat:

Meanwhile, my little gang of 5 :frog:'s is going to be hating on dear wife and me for leaving them at the vet's for boarding. We're going to leave them in their frog house while they're boarded, then when we return, they are getting a new BIGGER frog house!! I have 5 of them now......two boys (Simon and Alvin), and three very sizeable girls (Dolly, Bella and Maddie), and they love each other's company. Simon and Alvin love to sing together in the evenings. :awww::frog::frog::frog::frog::frog::awww:

Sitting in Goodyear waiting on truck repair. Brought a book. Looking forward to the repairs being completed. I called my supervisor last night and said I would not be in the office today. I want to get home and get the grass mowed and then commerce to check off from my list other outdoor work-related activities.

Thought my serpentine belt belt had snapped last night but when I popped the hood, could see it wasn't the belt. Now thinking alternator. So thankful I have $$$ to get it fixed.

The way I try and look at things ---->>>> there are no big deals anymore - only inconveniences. But I do have to laugh at myself about how I acted last night. The tow service did not get to me for 2 hours instead of the 45 minutes as promised. I was so hot, had sweated all my clothes (everything, even socks) sopping wet and very pissed off. My friend, Cille, just laughed and laughed at my "special words" tantrum. :)

Going home to Chicago this weekend for a few weeks.

Highlights - Andrew Bird concert at The Chicago Theatre next Saturday night, which couldn't be a more perfect venue for him. Also putting the family homestead on the market a year after my dad died. Didn't think I would ever get this done.

Lowlights - oh yeah, having to go out there to deal with all this crap.

starting my new (other) job at the assisted living facility....

it's far more socially engaging than my first job....during which I may speak to 3 people for all of two minutes....much like my lliving situation....

which is another thing Im looking forward to....getting my own place...as the song goes....if I have to be lonely I think Id rather be alone! Roommates try the soul....and besides....I cant wait for my daughter to come down in September :) :) That makes having our own place an imperative!

On Friday nights a time warp hits my city. The streets of downtown are filled with strolling people of all ages, while a parade of pre-1970s vintage cars slowly cruise up and down Grand Avenue. All kinds of vintage cars—from American Hot Rods, Classics, Antiques, and Customs. There are also truckers, bikers, convertibles, etc. and a good time is usually had by all.

I joined a local hiking group and today I'm going on my first ever hike with them. I am anxious to learn some good hiking spots in the area.

Today our hike is a 6.5 mile trek along the river. The French Broad I assume. I am looking forward to meeting some nice local people with similar interests as mine. :)

As of then I am employed well over full time by my agency. They called today to tell me they had a client for me. ONE client. Full time. Awesomeness!

It's 52 hours a week AND I have weekends off :) AND I get time and a half until the new laws go into affect :)

Nice! I started meeting up with a friend's running group this summer - Trails, Tails and Ales. It's a bit of a trail running group with a penchant for beer and dogs... lots of dogs. The dogs don't seem to mind
