Practical things..lol..groceries

Our first trip to the grocery store. I made a list. As we got there, I say, so how do you like to shop. "Cold stuff last" ok. We both agreed to starting in produce. He went to get the cart and said, you lead and I'll follow like a puppy dog . Lol

Mid way thru the store, I turn the cart and lost him. Few min later, coming down the aisle, where three huge racks of ribs heading to the cart!

Um, checking the list...nope not on it..lol lol

Groceries was yesterday. Today was NOT about practical. It was about wants.

I wanted pretty, sparkly nails so I got them done.

I wanted some more crafty tidbits, so I got some.

I wanted to put gas in my car, so I did that.

Okay, that's practical.

One out of three is all you're getting from me today.

Practical things, like groceries.

Then fun things, like comic books.

I came to the realization today that I buy more comic books now than I did as a kid. Probably because I can actually afford them now.

Isn't that the truth randrum, IF only they were still the same price we paid as kids!

Yesterday - I finally bought a platform bed. Should be here before the end of the week. Also bought groceries and lunch for me and my Mom.

Today - Bought my Mom the outdoor grill she wanted (late Mother's Day gift - had to wait for the one she wanted to come in) - also got her a cover for said grill - and then she added on a couple of bags of mulch for her flower beds.

Myself .. well .. I finally caved and just now bought a Kindle Paperwhite, leather cover, and wall charger for it. I have justified this purchase because I seem to be to busy to get to the library (which I used to do weekly). I have VOWED that this will not take the place of going there - for now it will be a convenience thing - so that I can at the very least access the books I want without having to make time for that trip.

Oh no! What's wrong with her?

It. Was. AMAZING!

I paid ZERO for my car today because my mechanic is an awesome, stand up guy.

They replaced a hose leading to my gas tank but apparently only replaced one instead of both. The old hose caused my gas gauge to go wonky and create a brand new evap error for the canister, which is why I brought it in. The check engine light came on 20 miles after I drove off the lot.

Once they replaced the hose that wasn't replaced last week, everything was as it should be. My mechanic wouldn't even let me pay for the second hose. He said it should have been done at the same time the other one was done so we were set. I finally got him to agree to let me buy him lunch then he bailed on me when I asked what he wanted me to get (it was almost noon then). I'll remember, though.

ZERO.

PAID.

I became giddy with joy and immediately took my car to Scrub a Dub for a car wash, then went to Sam's for fresh blueberries, blackberries, mini cukes, a box of chipotle black bean burgers (OMG so good!) and a pretty CK tee that was on sale.

Apparently, that wasn't enough.

I went back to the grocery store and also picked up two containers of baby arugula (on SALE!), watermelon and mushrooms.

I also hit up the store that shall not be named....you know the one!....and bought the following:

a soft as buttah tee
fizzy water in various shapes/flavors
candy (still working on that sugar addiction)
select a size paper towels
feminine hygiene product
lip stain and 2 new cream matte sticks that looked promising
cashew milk
oj

I went into the grocery store for a couple of bananas.

Those were .38.

Thennnnnnn......

I remembered I threw the last of the feta away because it smelled funny so I grabbed a new container, then I was in the produce section and I remembered that my arugula was getting low, so I grabbed one of those.

Then I saw that the bagged salad mixes were on sale and I grabbed a light Caesar salad mix. As I rounded the corner of the produce section, I saw that they had a new container of fresh cut kiwi so I grabbed that too since I was out.

Then a :brightbulb: moment occurred when I remembered that the new naan chip product I tried was gone and it was goooooood, so I went looking for a bigger bag in the chip section. I didn't find it so I raided several check outs until I found the flavor I wanted in the small bags.

Then I went back for another because the flavor I like is the one that's empty or nearly so at every register and I didn't want to get hooked on something to never have it be available again. I hate that!

As I was heading to the register, I saw the on the vine tomatoes and remembered that I wanted a tomato sandwich a couple of days ago but was not about to slice up 100 cherry tomatoes to get one so I grabbed 3 smallish sized tomatoes too.

So, that's what I bought today. Aren't you glad you asked?

I put some on my plate and dragged everything I was eating through it before I stuffed it in my mouth. I found some during my lunch hour today. I love it! :)

A birthday card for my sister. It had a cougar on the cover, with earrings and eyelashes photoshopped in and said, Still hot.

An animal-print wrist thing with a zip pocket to put your ID and money in. She walks in the woods a lot. Also, it went with the cougar theme.

A box of Wheat Thins.

Yellow rice and halal chicken from a street vendor near the World Trade Center.

A picture frame.

Some pecans.

I bought groceries, and then went to Dollar General and bought tp.

This evening I bought a "new to me" camper top for my truck. The bed of my truck is 5' 9" wide and a full 8' long, so I plan to frame it out on the inside with a bed frame, some storage and a small kitchen area, (the kitchen is mostly for when it's raining...and dontcha know it always rains when you camp!) for camping until I can get a towable camper that I like. I already have a small fridge and a 2 burner propane stove.

I'm excited like a little kid the night before Christmas. :)

Busy day, I hit many places..lol

Syringes and honey at the vet.
Pavers for my potted plants, stacking them up as a collection rather than have them all the same height, and more potting soil, Home Depot.
A jar full of vintage stamps, used my 50% off coupon at Micheals.
A Kegrig coffee storage unit, reg. $50, on sale for 29.99 and I had a $15 off coupon, I feel like almost a thief on that..lol
A teal, and a purple sweater, and a brown tie-dyed lounging gown.

And...half a dozen Pink Ribbon bagels from Panera. I wait all year for those!

My truck threw a big fit and was slinging oil everywhere! Guess she doesn't like the camper top.

A set of 4 intake manifold gaskets (because 1 of the 4 that I replaced last year was pinched and had a slight leak)
A Distributor O ring
Valve cover gasket
Oil sending unit
and $400 worth of labor.

Oh and a pizza for dinner because I am still without wheels until tomorrow.

The Jiffy Steamer

http://bestgarmentsteamer.org/wp-content/uploads/Jiffy-Steamer-J-2000-Residential-Garment-Steamer.jpg

I've been using clothes steamers for years and have owned many—usually the cheap models. I finally broke down and got the Jiffy steamer. It arrived yesterday and it's soooo good. It's well made, starts up quickly, and works well. Okay, I've had it for less than 24 hours and have only steamed a handful of garments, but I've owned Tobi, Rowenta, some off brands and none have worked as well as this one.

If you're shopping for a garment steamer, check out the Jiffy models. It doesn't look good, but it's well made.

I spent some money today by paying for my monthly rental fee, but plan to spend a little more money by this weekend. I plan to get my hair trimmed into a new style (a longer, stacked Bob + Hair treatment for my curly hair), then buy some new hair products and then go shopping for a trendy vintage winter coat + gloves and scarf.

I am getting myself a birthday/Christmas present this year...

The Biltmore estate is very close to where I live, about a 20 minute drive...if that... and they have their season passes on sale..its the only way I can justify going there at all. They typically charge $60 for a day pass. For $100 I can go all year round. And there's lots to do and explore on the estate...not just the house itself. I'm very excited :)

Yesterday: a small vial of homeopathic medicine, an tincture of probiotics for my allergies to tree pollen and other spores in the air that shuts down my immune system. It tastes terrible, but it's making me feel better.

Today: A cup of tea, honey, a chocolate chip scone, a banana, a ruby red grapefruit and an Honey Crisp apple.

Tomorrow: Soft tissues for my nose. Maybe another pair of gloves if I find a pair that I like.
